I live in Augusta, GA and was involved in a multicar auto accident just outside of Fayetteville, NC on I95. I sought counsel from a professional friend who referred me to Mr. Shankar to handle some issues I was having with a ticket I received for the accident. He was prompt, thorough, professional, and extremely knowledgeable in the handling of the matter. I would wholeheartedly recommend him and his firm for any legal matters.

Mr.Dualan and his team are everything they promised to be and said he would do! Jeannie was so quick in replying to any questions or concerns. Ft. Liberty is serious about speeding even if it was accidental or off the Post leading to thr base! So many states and installations have speed traps according to Escort radar. What matters is he knew exactly how to approach the case and felt very confident about the outcome yet still being honest that we had to go through the whole process and in my case it did prevail justas he predicted! I'll gladly accept the outcome with no impact on my insurance. This is just one of many positive reviews you'll read, but this a very honest review from an former 1st Sgt!

Andy Dualan is by far the most professional, efficient, and empathetic attorney I've ever worked with. His deep understanding of military law and his non-judgmental approach were truly impressive. Andy provided exceptional guidance, always approaching issues with clarity and objectivity. He knew exactly when to offer assertive advice and when to patiently communicate and listen. His decision-making process was never rushed, ensuring thoughtful and well-founded recommendations. I would enthusiastically recommend Andy to anyone seeking legal counsel. Any negative reviews you may come across are likely due to the reviewer's own circumstances and not a reflection of Andy's expertise or professionalism.

I had a fantastic experience with this law firm. They were very professional, polite, and informational. They always communicated and updated me on my case and anything that I needed to know. They were with me along the whole journey of my recovery and treatments. They made me feel like family and accepted my case with open arms. I never once had to worry about if my case was been overlooked. If I ever need a lawyer’s service again, I will definitely be choosing this law firm. Marcari, Russotto, Spencer and Balaban of Fayetteville has been the best law firm I’ve ever worked with.

Worst attorney to deal with child custody ever. This attorney never asked me what did I want going into my case. She threw in my face how she get paid by the hour multiple times as if I couldn't afford to continue paying for her. This lady is so rude I stopped all contact right before my trial. I represented myself in trial and came out with exactly what I wanted. If I would have paid this lady, only thing she would have done was get the case continued and kept charging. I went through all the other reviews, I wish I would have met the person they claimed represented them.

Review: Attorney Devan is an unmatched powerhouse in the legal realm. With over three decades of legal experience, including a tenure as a judge, her expertise is unrivaled. Her reputation as a fierce advocate precedes her, and rightly so. From our first meeting, Attorney Devan commanded respect and admiration with her authoritative demeanor and unwavering determination. Her extensive experience has provided her with a profound understanding of the intricacies of the law, giving her a strategic edge that few can match. When facing opposing counsel, Attorney Devan's prowess is undeniable as she fearlessly fights for justice with relentless determination and unwavering resolve in the courtroom. However, beneath her formidable exterior lies a compassionate heart and an unyielding dedication to her clients' well-being. As a male survivor of domestic violence, I found solace in Attorney Devan's unwavering support and tireless advocacy. She fought tirelessly to ensure my voice was heard and my rights were protected, leaving no stone unturned in pursuit of justice. Attorney Devan's insights into family law are both profound and illuminating. She approaches each case with a deep understanding of the complexities of familial dynamics, providing invaluable guidance and clarity in even the most challenging circumstances. In conclusion, Attorney Devan is more than just a lawyer; she is a formidable force for justice. She guided me through one of the most difficult periods of my life with unparalleled skill and determination, and for that, I am forever grateful. If you are seeking a legal luminary who will stop at nothing to protect your rights, look no further than Attorney Devan.

I had a tough situation she assisted me with. I don't know if I would have gotten through it without her. She was available to me with flexible hours and she was available through many devices that made it very convenient for me to reach her. Her staff was very helpful and professional too. She was open and honest, even when the honesty was hard to hear about my case. She is down to earth and it wasn't long before I was comfortable enough to talk to her about the details of my case. I would recommend her to anyone! I hope that I never have to hire another lawyer for anything but if I do..... I will hire her again!!!

Cristina was miraculously able to get us even less visitation than we started with. While I do believe the Fayetteville "justice system" is built for and by men, and this is not Cristina's fault, we were at a severe disadvantage in court facing the "old boys' clubs" backward nature of this small town. Run away from this legal team. Their goal is to drain you of joy, money, and the will to live. All of Cristina's "advice" left us worse off, and it's important to remember that SHE does not suffer the repercussions of her poor advice, YOU do. Be vigilant and choose a lawyer with a winning history.

My experience with the criminal justice system was the worst experience of my life. I was grateful for Ms. Quantock's help. I knew that I had not done what I was charged with but it was an uphill battle to get them dismissed. It took 6 months. Not only did Ms. Quantock talk to the DA successfully about me, she also listened to me when I fell apart over the situation. I could not have done it without her.

To the law office of Jocelyn Stewart. After a 26 year long stellar career as. Green Beret, I was facing 7 felony charges from my ex wife. These charges were all false allegations provided by my ex wife to my chain of command. The Army never once had my back. The Army labeled me a criminal from the first time my ex wife made these allegations. I went through a 3-1/2 year long process that was harder than any military deployment. From the first time we talked to Rob, there was just something about him that was different. He wanted us to do our homework and read his bio before we made a decision to hire him. My outlook on the Military Justice system was very low. I do not trust lawyers or the Military anymore. Rob had my back from day one. His passion, dedication are unmatched. The way he handled my court martial trial was second to none. His heart was in it from the start. He gave me his all. Although I knew in my heart I was innocent of these false allegations I still faced 7 felony charges from the Government. I was scared, I was worried and faced 40 years in prison if I was found guilty. After a week long trial and Rob’s heart felt and passionate closing arguments. I heard the words Not Guilty. My family and I can not thank him enough. I can finally retire with an honorable discharge and all my benefits. Thank you Rob!!! De Oppresso Liber!!!

Atty. Anstead helped me during an exceptionally difficult time. His willingness to hear my situation, review the material diligently and thoroughly, ask questions that mattered and gave him the full understanding of what he was defending against, really gave me the confidence that I was being taken care of. His initial consultation was fair and his retainer was extremely reasonable. Additionally, he recommended me to a PI team that thoroughly chased facts and ultimately led to my case being dismissed and the truth saving the day. I really can’t say how positive of an experience I had and how strongly I recommend Atty. Anstead, Ms. Adkins, and the their Investigative Team’s counsel and support when you’re facing daunting allegations. If you’re reading this—best of luck on your case, but if criminal charges are what you’re facing than look no further and retain Atty. Anstead now.

Jeff was the perfect person I needed to talk to! My case was a little complicated because we are planning to move so my best option was to start my process with someone where we’re moving to. I got all my questions answered and he guided me to the right direction I needed to go. He was able to throw out some name, numbers and where I can look to do my own research. I appreciated how well he was able to explain everything and his time.

Don’t hesitate to look into hiring him, he will absolutely help you wether it’s traffic charges up to a criminal defense lawyer like he was for us. Got a referral from an online search engine on child support lawyers in Fayetteville, NC. I went with the first name listed. I sent $2,000 for a child support amount reduction case that was a disaster. I paid to fly, rent a car, and hotel to go to court. In court, he didn't know much about divorce cases and relied upon my ex-wife's lawyer to get most of the information. He was falling asleep in court while another case was in session. My ex looked around the court and me like is he really falling asleep? I looked at her and I was full of embarrassment as other looked at him as well. I had to drop the case and my ex informed me that she only paid her lawyer $800 while Mr. Allen charged me $1,000. I emailed him about a week after to see if there was any money left that he needed to send me and he informed me that the $2,000 was non-refundable! I would stay away if you're in need of a family lawyer.

Horrible attorney! If you have her I would go get my money now! She is closing her office early August and is screwing everyone out of their money!!! I gave her full payment for child custody and child support, she then called me 2 weeks after I paid her off and said she was closing her office. She avoided my called for several days and my emails to refund me back my money. Keep in mind she has never been to court for me not one time only filed motion! Literally don’t nothing for me and decided she gets to keep $1500 of my money I paid her for doing absolutely NOTHING FOR ME! I came to the office to get my file and money and she then screamed in my face, cussed at me and completely acted unprofessional infront of two other client's she had in her office!! I repeat go get your money or do not ever hire her!!! Negative 5 stars for me!!! Worthless lawyer!!!

I have had many attorneys and although I don't feel like my expectations are unreasonable, I do expect the best from my attorney. After leaving my last attorney due to his lack of interest in my case, I contacted Mrs. Miller. I felt great about her after my initial consultation, but when I saw her in action in the court room she blew me away. Ironically, the attorney we were up against was one I had looked into hiring in the past, and Mrs Miller blew her out of the water. I was so pleased that I retained Mrs. Miller instead. She is SHARP and caught small details with just a glance when exhibits were entered into evidence by opposing counsel.. She built significant arguments out of small details that supported my case. Even if I had lost my case, I felt she represented me perfectly. She made sure everything I wanted to say was said and all evidence I wanted entered was entered. She is extremely professional despite a severe lack in professionalism from other attorneys, yet never backed down from a somewhat rude and at times loud witness. She is organized, takes lots of notes and gets to the point. She doesn't seem to miss a thing. I would change nothing and am very happy to have her on my next case. Lastly, she bills far more fairly than any other attorney I have had. She has really taken a ton of stress off my shoulders and I am so grateful to have had her.

1. Doubled charged on billing several times and did not provide details of billing actions. 2. Transposed the address on my quick claim deed but still charged me for the full price but never corrected the mistake after it was filed. 3. There were erroneous facts in my "Review of Facts" that were unfounded that I pointed out to Ms. Miller that was never corrected during the review process. 4. The paralegal, Christine Walden, is also the billing agent, thus all issues with my billing and questions about how I was billed and the services that were provided went through Ms. Walden. 5. During my two days on the stand, Ms. Miller did not object to one thing, although the Judge objected on my behalf during the cross examination and instructed Ms. Miller that she can object as well (documented in transcript). 6. Key facts more specifically my ex spouse's state retirement benefits was left out and not factored in during the discover process in which I paid for. The Judge had do discover it during the trail, thus take a break so that Ms. Miller and the opposing attorney could factor in my ex spouse's retirement, although my retirement was already factored.

Dont believe everything you read. Each case is different as so is each client. Mrs. Miller is a great person and attorney. Her staff and her are very heplful and will walk you through every step. Some client post bad reviews because the judge didnt rule in their favor. Mrs. Miller does everything she can but in the end it is not up to here but to the judge. I know for a fact because I didnt win my case but it is not for Mrs. Miller not trying or not fighting she fought so hard for me but the judge ruled in favor of my ex. Mrs. Miller will fight for you with everything she has in her until she she is blue in the face. I do recommend Mrs. Miller to everybody I know and met who needs an attorney. I've sat in cold court rooms as they give the defendants continuance after continuance but as the victim you miss court one time and they allow the charges to be dropped so easily. There is no point of filing charges they either going to torture you by making you sit in cold courtrooms until you give up.

I am an 11 years police veteran from Florida recently moved to Ft. Bragg and I can say that I have Never seen a more bias, more racist DA's office than this one! Despicable acts, bias against color defendants especially if the victim is white! And I am white! Folks,be careful with them and hire good attorneys. It is disgusting to say the least that in the 21st century America, this county allows DA Carroll and Lewis prosecuting in such a bias, racist manner!

Called 12/19 around 2pm, and asked for the point of contact for a FOIA request. The lady said what's that I explained, and she said please call an attorney lol, and hung up the phone. The lack of education in these country towns show they don't even know in the law offices.

The immigration services provided by this office are the worst, they have a Paralegal named Nayubell Guevara doing immigration cases who is clueless about what she is doing. On several occasions she gave us the wrong information or instructions. She told us that the case was denied and we had to find another attorney to file an appeal because she doesn’t do those. Come to find out that the case was not denied and after two years of doing most everything ourselves after she told us the case was denied, a visa was finally issued. There was someone who was doing the case in the beginning named Terry Spearman who had to leave before it was turned over to Nayubell, he was doing a great job, but it was her who was clueless as to what she was doing, and Hogan, Edwards, and Blue seem not concerned. We were led to think she was an attorney and they never took or returned any calls. So, you will be better off spending your hard-earned money somewhere else.

They will collect your money and that's it! They will hold hands with the opposing counsel while asking you what should he do? He is not very familiar with the total process of divorce and custody. You can do a. better job representing yourself. Don't waste your money bc they will continuously ask for while not working for a dime. Only call them if you have money to throw away and literally only want to represent yourself with the FACE of a lawyer and that's it.

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
