Ms. Miller affords you her expertise as a Judge, State Legislator, Educator, Attorney, and Parent for your court matters. Her understanding of family law provided me an attorney who listened, and explained all matters that would be forthcoming in my divorce case based on the outcome I had desired when we first met. Ms. Miller is well versed in the courtroom and continually reads cases and situations, keeping them at the ready when needed for your case. Ms. Miller successfully defended me in a very complex family law case that had all elements of a bad and difficult divorce with many accusations being presented to the court. Each accusation was dissected, questioned openly in the courts, and dismissed by the courts. Her successful representation gave me immediate access to my child, and a voice in the legal system that made opposing attorneys and Judges pay attention to. While waiting on my case to be heard, I have witnessed Ms. Miller assist younger attorneys in the courtroom on proper protocol, and coach them on procedure and direction. She is not only passionate about her clients but also passionate about the law. You cannot receive any better legal representation in family law than Phyllis Miller.

This Itailian gal has spunk and passion. If you'd like to hire one of the best, I highly recommend this lawyer. She helped me get my kids and my house in my divorce proceedings. After watching her in the court room I gave her the nickname Barracuda. You would have to see it to understand it. I am lucky enough to be one of the 2% of men....thanks to Phyllis Miller...hire her, you'll see...she is worth every penny. :-)

Mr. Mullinax filed an erroneous motion because he assumed something and did not check it out. DA knew the truth. Defense case was severely hurt. Then he was not man enough to take responsibility for his mistake. He falsely tried to blame an innocent member of the defendant's family. He is wishy washy and passive aggressive if you do not hold your nose right, and he gets angry with you. He plays psychological war games and can be very mean. He takes on too many cases out of greed and then lets some important aspects of the case go by the wayside for lack of time. He lazily encouraged a plea bargain to save himself time and trouble. In reality, the case should have been tried. The guilty plea destroyed my career and retirement. I should have been found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. I had had a nervous breakdown.

Mr. Booker did an incredible job in my case. He fought for me with great integrity and determination. I knew once we had our first conversation that he would put me in the best position possible to prove my innocence. When trial time came he kept me informed during the whole process and educated me thoroughly on everything we were to cross paths with. One of a kind man and one the best in the business

Mr. Booker defended my son who had charges in two counties. He effectively advocated for my son in both courts, rolling his probation to supervision under one county. If my son does his part, Mr. Booker will get his charges dismissed giving him a clean slate for future employment and in life. We are so grateful not only for his expertise, but also because he truly cared about my son’s wellbeing and future. He is a good listener and was a comfort to us as we navigated this foreign world. I trust him and would highly recommend him to anyone in need.

It was over 10 years ago, he kept me from taking a bad deal that would still effect me today when I was innocent. I found him by searching cases for hours with positive outcomes on the Court website. Was real about the overpriced lawyer I had already retained and the situation I was in. Spent several hours talking about my case with me. I had the highest rated lawyer in Gwinnett at the time and he seemed to know way more than she did. I pushed my lawyer for a continuance that I wouldn’t have done otherwise when she was saying I had to eat the charges. He’s who to go to when you really need help.

I am very disappointed because after paying for a one-hour consultation in which Attorney Leary agreed to take my case, I sent the retainer money. Then I sent her the documents for the case - the same ones we went over in the one-hour consultation. She emailed me back and that result was that she changed her mind about taking the case and gave a legal reason related to liability. I emailed her explaining why her legal conclusion was incorrect, and that if she was going to pull out of the case, she should not bill me additional hours, as the time to decide if she will take the case was during the initial paid consultation. She wrote back disagreeing, billed me 2.5 hours, and we parted ways. When I got the bill, it had an $18.75 charge listed as "Received check, emailed client." So she charged me to open the envelope with my check, deposit it, and tell me that she got it! I have worked with many lawyers and have never been charged before to open the envelope with my check - that is normal office overhead and their own expense. Perhaps these things would be more tolerable if her rates were lower. I now took my case to a very high-end lawyer who is worlds more confidence inspiring. He did not charge me at all for the consolation, understood the case, took the case, agreed that my previous lawyer was incorrect in her assessment of my case, and while I am paying more per hour, he is seemingly so much more skilled that I predict it will cost me much less in the end.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of working with Attorney Calvin David Williamson , and I can't praise him enough for his exceptional service and dedication. In a stressful last-minute situation, I reached out to him late on a Friday night, urgently needing representation for the following Monday. Despite the incredibly short notice, he immediately made time to listen to my concerns, providing insightful feedback and instilling a level of confidence in me that no other attorney had ever achieved. By Monday morning, he had seamlessly added himself as my attorney of record and met with me to go over the details of my case, even though we had only a few minutes to do so. His professionalism and ability to grasp the intricacies of my situation in such a limited timeframe were nothing short of impressive. In court, his representation was outstanding. He was articulate, and I was well represented. I’m so grateful to his expertise and commitment. If you're looking for a dedicated, competent, and reassuring attorney who can handle even the most urgent and challenging situations, I wholeheartedly recommend Attorney Calvin David Williamson His support and skills are unmatched, and he truly goes above and beyond for his clients.

Please take a moment to review other complaints about him online. We engaged Mr. Ney to handle a conflict of interest case. Through email, phone calls, and face-to-face meetings, he assured us that our former attorney was not entitled to any money. After providing him with $1000.00 for a case study, he returned confirming his acceptance of our case and reiterated that our ex-attorney had no claim to funds. Consequently, we ceased negotiations on a $25000 settlement with the ex-attorney. Upon receiving the remaining flat fee of $7000.00, he stopped communication. we went to his office he did not show uo. Despite assurances of a jury trial and the use of expert witnesses, none materialized – these promises proved false. Furthermore, he neglected to inform us of the hearing date, attending alone, resulting in the case being lost. As a consequence, we now find ourselves obligated to pay the ex-attorney $57000.00. Once he gets the money he is gone. I filed a complaint with Bar hoping they discipline him, then I will sue him.

When I reviewed Mrs. flukers rating on her professional conduct I was appalled. She was the biggest B.... I have ever had the displeasure of knowing. She was nothing but rude and disrespectful to me. She was not responsive to my needs or desires. She was TERRIBLE! While I was incarcerated I had the opportunity to make inquires with other inmates with whom she had represented and thier assesment of her was no better. She has a horrible reputation around the Gwinnett County jail. I actually had to contact another lawyer for advice since I could not get any help from her. This led to her withdrawing from my case and I could not have been happier. I was able to prove my innocence less than four months after she withdrew because the lawyer that replaced her actually listened to me and acted on what I told him. In 7 months, Mrs. Fluker only visited me one time in jail and that was her initial visit. The lawyer that replaced her visited me 8 times in less than four months. Results only come if your lawyer is actively pursuing your case. I'm not sure Mrs. Fluker ever even opened my file. I actually had to mail her my unsolicited statements about the case since what I had to say was crucial to understanding the case and she had no interest in hearing what I had to say. I was completely innocent and it could have been easily proven if she had just tried. She didn't care, she had already convicted me and she was the one who was supposed to be defending me. My case was completely dismissed and my record has even been expunged. All Mrs. Fluker did for me was let me rot in jail for a crime I had not committed and add tremendous stress to me on an already stressful situation. Best advice I could give anyone is to stay away from this lawyer. She is a disgrace to the lawyer profession and to the human race.

DO NOT & I mean DO NOT go to this oxymoron for help, questions, advice, updates, opinions, NOTHING! I had to give at least 1 star in order to leave a review. Google needs to give a 0 star option. He's RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, disrespectful & he's not there to help his clients, he's AGAINST his clients. He doesn't have any respect, bedside manners, he makes fun of his CLIENTS disabilities & he is a very unhappy & miserable individual. He had the audacity to tell me in a condescending tone "I've been practicing law for 23 years." Really? But you're a "PUBLIC DEFENDER" with a BAD RAPPORT about yourself! He was very angry, very aggressive, & very defensive. I wouldn't be bragging about how long I've been practicing law & I haven't made partner with anyone or at least had a private firm! Even other attorneys are talking about how horrible you are! You treat your CLIENTS like they don't matter & you treat them like you're not on their side either! Not EVERYONE who's case you're working on is guilty! You're not a PROSECUTOR! You're a PUBLIC DEFENDER so act accordingly! You also need to HUMBLE YOURSELF & treat your clients & their FAMILY MEMBERS with some RESPECT! We already knew before we actually contacted you (AFTER you was appointed) that you & your reviews are HORRIBLE! Even my son said you made him uncomfortable! Your energy was off & he didn't like your vibe/attitude & how you made him feel! You came there to so called "visit" him & was only with him for 1 minute & that while you was with him you was making fun of his disability! Then you insulted him & had the nerve to ask before you left did he have any questions? Which I know he wouldn't been able to ask because you don't know how to LISTEN & let anyone get anything in EDGE wise! You was very disrespectful towards me & talked to me like I was "dumb" & I'm a educated individual, so I could only imagine how you treat your clients! Also don't burn your bridges with people because as quick as you got your JD/passed the bar you can get disbarred too! Your CLIENTS is what keeps your bills paid! He (Lawrence Lewis) was too busy getting SMART about irrelevant stuff that didn't pertain to my son that he didn't realize that he was talking to me about his other client! That right there goes to show that he needs to chill out, calm down & take a deep breath before he just starts talking & running off at the mouth to people like they're a nobody! Your SERVICES is no longer needed Lawrence SMH! You lost all respect from me & my family. You don't even want to help your clients anyways. Folks go elsewhere to get legal representation for your loved ones because he's not the right choice for their case or the Judicial System.

3 days ago I have dealt with Greg before. There were seldom times where he was very informative and helpful and others where he was the most obnoxious, condescending, rudest attorney that you could ever imagine. This last occasion was just far too much and the point I had to take time to write this post to warn anyone else that takes the risk to retain this guy. If you just want to be belittled and treated like gum on the bottom of this guy's shoe then by all means good luck with that. What's even more amazing is I called to obtain information from him on how to proceed with filing bankruptcy. He was impatient, didn't listen, and extremely belligerent towards me. And I was simply was trying to follow-up with him with an update from a previous discussion to let him know I was officially prepared to retain his services and move forward with the next steps. The response I received was he abruptly told me find to another attorney and hung up in my face. My mouth just dropped. I couldn't believe how this turned out this way. I was completely dumbfounded. I was like what did I say or do to deserve this? I just called to give an update on certain circumstances that have changed in my situation since we last spoken and wanted to know if the process would be different or cover those things. I really got completely lashed out at for just even asking and calling. It's utterly unprofessional and quite sad. I hope that this was him having a bad day.. but obviously based on other reviews from clients expressing he that he was similarly unprofessional with them too. Unfortunate.

I was assigned Attorney Joe Randazzo by the court, and it has been a terrbile experience. Despite being court-appointed, which should imply a sense of responsibility, he failed to answer any of my repeated attempts to contact him. I drove to his office 3 times and left 3 notes on his door all of which were gone the next time I came back and still no reponse. 7 voicemails. 7 emails. No reponse. Communication with Attorney Randazzo was virtually non-existent. Calls and emails went unanswered, leaving me in the dark about my legal proceedings and utterly frustrated. It became apparent that Attorney Randazzo had little interest in advocating for my rights or even acknowledging my existence as a client. His disregard for communication not only left me feeling abandoned but also seriously jeopardized my case. How can someone entrusted with defending clients by the court system be so negligent in their duties? Attorney Joe Randazzo's behavior raises serious doubts about his integrity and capability to represent anyone effectively. If you find yourself in a situation where you have no choice but to rely on a court-appointed attorney, I strongly advise you to request someone other than Joe Randazzo. His complete lack of responsiveness and unprofessional conduct make him wholly unsuitable for the responsibility of representing individuals in legal matters. My experience with him serves as a cautionary tale against trusting Attorney Joe Randazzo with your legal affairs.

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
