After speaking with many lawyers in Connecticut for a year I always came away with the feeling that without $10,000 up front I would never have representation for my divorce. They also didn't seem to understand the issues. Enter Attorney Peter Berdon! The first time I spoke with Peter he immediately understood the underlying issues and was very thoughtful with answering my questions, (I had a lot of them!) he also advised me on new issues that he alone recognized and always made me feel respected during the process. Peter laid out an itemized list of what would happen at court and the cost of each item. This was wonderful as I could plan what would be coming up next. He also agreed to a payment plan. He was completely honest and transparent, which I appreciate immensely! In the end, I didn't have 2 days of court trial and instead Peter orchestrated a great settlement which I could never have done without him! This of course relieved me of any anxiety about my future. Maybe two years I had gotten into some criminal trouble which lead to me having jail time over my head restitution payments being on probabtion in not one but two cities and having traffic violations on top of that. Attorney Jefferson came along and kept it real with me needless to say I payed my fines at reduced amount off probation oh and did I add NO JAIL TIME. Without my Attorney I wouldn’t be able to get my license or keep my housing I’m not nor have I ever been a felon and that’s because of him.

During a very stressful period of my life, one would have expected that their own attorney would be a beacon of reason, a measured and an unemotional anchor. The opposite was my challenging experience with Willie, He as quoted in other reviews, was a terrorist berating me and my family for every dollar he could squeeze out of us. Beyond those experiences, he frequently discussed attorney client matters with third parties to exert added pressure for haunting sums of money without any authorization whatsoever. I waited some time to author this review so that my thoughts could coalesce. One of the greatest mistakes of my life was retaining Willie Dow. He is simply a mean and avaricious person. Proceed with caution if you are considering him as a choice of counsel. Look further!

Upon moving to New Haven I was having issues with the Board of Education not implementing my child's IEP I was referred to New Haven legal assistance. During the PPT meeting I started to notice that the attorney that was assigned to my case
was not addressing the important issues that needed to be addressed so my child's Services could be implemented. NO CHANGES WERE MADE.
I had to personally pay for a attorney.
Out of pocket
The educational lawyer that I hired made sure that my child received the paraprofessional that my child needed but by the time I was able to afford this lawyer it was at the end of the next school year weeks before graduation.
Nhi had the opportunity to help my child who was struggling socially and academically due to the fact that the IEP was not being implemented and Nhi Did not change any thing. I wonder how she sleeps at night is she happy knowing that one less black child is being educated.
The moral of the story is New Haven legal assistance and New Haven Board of Education work with each other to make sure that special education children do not receive services that are legally on their IEP just to save money.

Attorney Williams betrayed my trust. I hired him because the prosecutor of New Haven engaged in misconduct and I could not trust that she would protect myself and my children. My ex-spouse was charged with 14 felony charges ranging from rape to strangulation to suffocation. Attorney Williams lied to the prosecutor. He stated that I was no longer interested in pressing charges and that I had moved out of state, neither of which were true. I now face a lifetime of risk due to his malpractice.

This law firm also effectively stole a dead clients money and had to return most of it under the duress of a judge when the law firm owner was in court.
The firm has lost one client 1.5 billion dollars in a high profile defamation case.
The law firm owner has been known to drop his pants at a pizzeria and yell the N Word at the only black person in there. There's more but this should be enough.

A few years ago, John took my case for two felonies I was being charged with. He was not only an amazing lawyer, but an amazing friend. He explained to me every step of the case and guided me in what I needed to do in order to win my case. He recommended places to help with my alcohol abuse. He spoke to me like he would to a friend, maybe even family. I knew I was going to be alright with his explanation of everything. This case which included charges like assault and reckless driving was ultimately dismissed. The dismissal of these charges allowed for me to go back to school and more recently obtain my graduate degree!!!! Furthermore, more recently I hired him to help with a friend was wrongly accused. He did a phenomenal job with this case as well. Helping to get my friend a PTA from a 155,000 dollar bond!!! I strongly recommend attorney Bowdren. Not only is he good at what he does, he is befriendable, understanding, kind and caring! I feel like he is part of my family. Took my sons case and failed to appear in court once, then failed to appear at an appointment with my son the day before my son's appearance in court. His office said he was off that day. I was introduced to Frank by a prominent client. He was gracious enough to answer some basic legal questions about issues I was contending with, yet details matter! Not only did he waste months of my time with filing errors that he made per a basic claim wrong... His lack of attention to detail ended up with the payment for the matter being voided for being held up for over 100 days. All while answering personal calls during one of our consultations and on another occasion disregarding legitimate information per harassment as "paranoia" (his words) in a completely dishelved office space. I must say that this lawyer definitely takes a BIAS approach with women, and if you're looking into being fairly and equally represented especially in a criminal case... Say your prayers. I'd definitely recommend women clients in particular to go elsewhere, I'd be paranoid not to!

Hugh Keefe at the offices of Lynch, Traub, Keefe & Errante represented me and a group of students in a civil disobedience case. Prior to the civil disobedience, my family had recently entered into an emergency of housing insecurity, that meant the usual obstacles of not being able (things like transportation) to do something like community service were further heightened to the point of impossibility. He and his employees at the office did not offer us any alternatives to completing the community service, and told us that we would get misdemeanors if we didn't complete the community service. I was in New Haven with no parental supervision, during a school break in which we don't have housing or the meal plan. They also did not provide a method for us to actually clear the misdemeanors from our records -- they told us to complete community service, but they did not tell us what organizations that community service with would official count for the courts. I think this was very negligent.

This attorney represented me for over three years with a negative outcome. He charged a ridiculously high hourly rate in my contract (my mistake for trusting him and not noticing). He requested to be contacted only by e-mail, yet he rarely replied. I could never get him by phone nor was he available when I stopped by his office. He never provided a billing statement showing how he spent my retainer. All and All I would not recommend him.

My experience with the Adelman law fire was a disaster. Dan the lawyer I haired to handle all my post divorce issues was never available to discuss my case. It was done through a series of emails. The only time i was able to see Dan was 20 minutes prior to going into court. This was the extent of reviewing my issues.
I was quoted a fixed fee to handle all maters but was forced to give additional monies to Dan throughout the process in order for him to proceed.
He is never prepared
He never returns phone calls
He never filed any of the motions I prepared for him to file
He never reviews you case prior to court date
He is rude and always asking for more money. Please do your homework before hiring Dan Adelman. Read other site reviews of him and his poor work ethics
