I was arrested, walking back to my truck in a parking lot while driving through Utah. I spent three nights in jail, had to pay to get my truck back, and was charged with a DUI. I must have called 20 lawyers but I could tell out of the gate that Mr. Schatz knew the law and was not just trying to make me feel better. Utah/Iron County did not want to give up but thankfully Mr Schatz did not either and won my case (Totally Dismissed)
I had to wear an ankle bracelet for a month and he got that taken off for a portable breathalyzer which I was on for two months then Mr. Schatz got that taken away. In all I had to appear in court via zoom around six times but never had to say a word. Everytime I heard Mr Schatz argue in court it was like I was watching a movie (he was that good and prepared) . I had asked Mr. Schatz a couple of times why don’t you tell them That I am a teacher, A father, 51 years old and I’ve never been in trouble in my life And Mr. Schatz would say every time you Utah does not care and he was right. Thankfully, Mr. Schatz cared and knows the law inside and out, Process process and procedure I thought the prosecutors had a slam dunk case against me Upon examining the videos and knowing the law like he does, Mr. Schatz was able to find enough holes to wear by the last day in court the judge described the case against me as”embarrassing”. In all, it took 12 months, but thankfully, Mr. Schatz never gave up, Never asked for more money for all the work he was doing, And in the end, the case was dismissed and is now going to be expunged. I never lost my license and never lost my job .
I can’t recommend Mr. Schatz enough .

Faced with the scariest experience of my life. My family and I found the right lawyer after 4-5 consultations. Clayton Simms was that lawyer and we got the best possible outcome from a devastating situation. I did not feel rushed. We were beyond pleased with the professional, pro-active, and supportive experience we had with Justin. We hired Justin to help our son with a legal issue in Logan. He is very knowledgeable and experienced, which gave us confidence and piece of mind. As our case had some specific nuances with little precedent in Utah, Justin did his own research and read the information suggested by my son to make sure he was both fully prepared for any legal implications and to understand my son's reasons for involvement.
Justin personally guided us through multiple court appearances. I really appreciated his willingness to be available to my son and us for questions and concerns as the process continued.

I got myself into a bit of trouble and sought out the most reputable lawyer in Salt Lake City and his thorough and detailed attention can’t be overstated. I was pulled over by UHP in Tooele County, Utah in March of 2017, leading to several misdemeanor possession counts of marijuana. As a California resident and student, as well as a prior record, I was extremely woeful of my situation.
I called Smoland Law and spoke to Dain. He explained to me the best course of action. If I had questions, Dain would respond within the day. I was fortunate enough to work with Melissa several years ago for a DUI that came during an extremely difficult time in my life. There didn't seem to be much hope initially, but I became more optimistic when we won the hearing for my driver's license. Next up was the suppression hearing in front of a judge that is apparently notoriously tough. We were the last case to be heard that day, and after sitting for several hours and witnessing every singe case before mine have their motion to suppress be denied I wasn't feeling particularly encouraged. What I witnessed over the next 40 minutes was truly masterful. Melissa's experience and training allowed her to pull on the thread that was the state's case, and when it was over there was nothing left of it--case dismissed! Best day of my life, and one that I have never taken for granted. It was clear from the first court appearance that Melissa has the respect of her colleagues, both defense attorneys and prosecutors alike. She's not only very knowledgable but has a presence in the courtroom that is evident to all. I never felt like it was just another day at the office for Melissa, she doesn't lose sight of the gravity of her clients' circumstances. Grant Miller was the greatest lawyer ever. He believed everything I told him about my case from day one after just one phone conversation. He told me we should fight my case to the end and he always said that he thought we would win. He also was supportive with my anxiety and stress during the whole 4 years of fighting my case. He brought me nice dress pants, shirt, tie, and shoes for trial. When I doubted my case, and the chance of beating a 2nd degree felony, he reassured me that I need not stress that he always believed in my story and that we a good case and he believed we could beat the case. He was also supportive of my wife and her stress and worries during the 4 year ordeal. In court from opening statements, to witnesses for both sides, to his closing statements he was just phenomenal and what every client could ever ask for both in the courtroom as well as out of the courtroom. He made sure to explain things in detail for a better understanding of everything going on. I have to say watching him with the jury using the whole courtroom while presenting the opening and closing statements and the connection he made with the jury was for me and my family was beyond words. One of the bailiffs told me from watching Grant work while in the courtroom that I had the A-team in attorney fighting for me. After winning my case I was so happy and pleased with the work Grant Miller did that I would tell anyone who I might ever talk to who, and has a case in Salt Lake County that I would recommend they request or hire Grant Miller as their attorney. I could have not have asked for anyone better than Grant Miller to fight my case. If I ever had another case I would hire Grant Miller as my attorney with no second thoughts. Thank You Grant for everything you did for my case, you are an unbelievable attorney.

I do to this day recommended Shantelle to any one who might ask me about a lawyer. I was falsely (I know I know) charged but didn't have money to hire a lawyer could not be appointed one by the court, the DA dropped the charges down to an infraction which means no possibility of jail time there for they will not allow me a public defender, I was given Shantelle's information and gave her a call. She was very friendly, and made sure I understood everything before I agreed or signed anything, she worked with me on payments and best of all She got the charged dismissed! I received a misdemeanor citation for possession of marijuana. Never was in trouble with the police before. Ann focused on resolving the problem without fuss. She knew the city prosecutor well. I was in serious trouble. My ex wife's very powerful family from the FLDS cult wanted me out of the way so they could get custody of my kids (they had inherited some money). He knew the stakes and right when they were playing their worst game, my kid's lives would have been destroyed, he drove 5 hours from Salt Lake to the not-so-above-board jurisdiction and fought for me in person. He and his partner worked brilliantly together. It was a miracle. I am still under the gun, but 5 years down the line Zach has managed to work the system (even though they are willing to cheat to get me) as well as anyone could. We are fighting some very powerful and less than integral forces. I am thrilled I had Zach on my side. Hire him immediately.

A Utah trooper seized 100K in cash (after they skimmed a few grand off the top for themselves) and Jim was able to get 90% back in a settlement with the state about 3-4 months later. He could have gotten 100%, but he let me know that Utah would drag their feet for a year knowing that they didn't have a case as Jim had identified some things that invalidated the search (dog hitting on the car with a back window that was cracked open).
The entire time Jim was good about answering all my questions, calling me back, keeping me informed during the process, and not misleading me in anyway (sometimes lawyers like to over promise to get you on the hook—not Jim).
He was recommended to me by someone who knew attorneys around the area, and I would recommend him to others as well. Overall a great guy and someone you want on your side during a fairly scary experience (huge portion of life savings being seized).
Jim knew all the characters involved locally (had dealt with the cop that pulled me over, knew DA, judges, etc.), which can be really important in any type of criminal defense; you can just tell he's a respectable guy, which means the people he has to work with have a higher chance of treating him well.
I put the fate of my life savings in his hands, and he came through big time. Great guy, would work with him again and would recommend him to anyone.

I met Jim Bradshaw in 1997 when he represented myself and my ex-spouse on a Felony case out of Salt Lake City, UT. The case lasted for 3 years with many ups and downs every months. Jim and his staff put in many, many hours and hired investigators to counter the Prosecuting Attorney's office deep pocket budget the Fed's have at their disposal. We've all heard the jokes about lawyers and how most of them have no soul and are only after the money.
I hadn't met a lawyer that didn't fit into that category until I met Margaret Olson. Ms Olson not only has a wonderful soul, she is also the most accomplished professional I know. She has treated me and my family like we were part of her family.

Your fate is left in someone else’s hands, and you have little control of what the consequences of your actions will be. It’s like having the lights turned off, it’s pitch black and you can’t find the light switch. Mr. Metos was my light switch. He was patient, non-judgmental, and the best in his field, which is exactly what you want when you find yourself in this type of situation. Fred was able to negotiate a minimal amount of time for my sentence; I received three months which could have been 15 years. Seven years after serving my sentence, Fred was able to have my record expunged. Life is good; I owe a great deal of my success and happiness after that dark period in my life to Fred.
