He seems to be very knowledgeable on DWIs, but honestly it didn't really seem like he did a whole lot for me. While it is nice to have someone experienced in these matters to do the paperwork and correspondence with the court, beyond that there really was not a lot that he did. I thought the communication could have been better during pre court. There were things that I had brought up to him that he wanted me to look into even though this is exactly what I am paying him for... I was told I had court just a couple of days before the court date, and before this time there was no communication as to what the prosecution is offering. I was just told a couple of days before my court date what my options were and he was not real clear on the terms of the probation, and there was no talk after our initial visit of possibly taking my case to trial. It was just here is what they offered, and this is when your court date is. He comes off like he is really going to fight hard for you, but the plea deal I got is basically the standard DWI plea deal that I probably could have got with a court appointed lawyer and therefore I would have saved $6k! Also there were things on my probation that I was not even aware of until the day of my court date. Of course at this point you basically don't have much of a choice but to just go along with it and sign it. I'm not saying that he's not a good DWI lawyer, but he definitely is not worth his $6k retainer fee if all you are going to do is take a plea deal. If you're taking a plea deal you might as well just save your money and go with a court appointed lawyer. Now if you want to take your case to trial then this may be where the money would be worth it, but be prepared to pay an additional $8k if you want to take your case to trial!

There are several achievements requisite for one to be called a "tax attorney". First and foremost: a post Juris Doctorate LLM, or masters' degree, in taxation. Although there may be others, I found two real tax attorneys in Tyler, one of whom was Kacie Czapla, to whom I now refer clients; and her prior experience with Price-Waterhouse, one of the "Big Four" accounting firms, is just icing-on-the-cake.
Another plus was her husband, Ty. Ty tries cases, and a good trial attorney, given the facts, can try just about any case including tax cases. If a desk lawyer, even one with her/his LLM, threatens IRS with litigation, it knows he/she is bluffing. With Team Kacie and Ty, they know the threat is real, and that makes a difference.

We were promised results, and ended up paying MORE in the end. I feel we were intentionally misled with empty promises so he could make that extra dollar. If you can't help me, just say so, and I will move on. I don't appreciate being fooled into paying attorneys fees, when they knew good and well they wouldn't be able to help. I'm glad to see they don't treat every case (or client) like they have us. I also don't appreciate the fact that (despite several promises) Mr. Murphy NEVER contacted me like I was told he would.

The term "justice" has been over-used in to today's society so much that the term has lost meaning or become ambiguous and subjective. I needed counsel from an attorney who had a firm understanding of the law, an objective viewpoint and one who would seek justice in my case. Justice defined by the laws of this country, state, county and city. Mr Murphy worked diligently on my case, outlining the wrongs of the case, and that i was the true victim. I didn't realize how busy Attorney Caldwell was and my family felt I should retain a backup Attorney. Since I was under financial duress I took their advice and sought out the best. My main choice was an ex Judge, but she was unavailable, because her husband was ill and she was not able to take on any more cases, She recommended me to an ex district attorney who had gone into private practice. I did my research and found out he was one of the best and I called my family and told him what the deal was and they say okay okay call him and hire him. I called him and explain my situation I asked him about my attorney or I believe he asked me who is my attorney was and once I told him attorney Gene Caldwell, this ex prosecutor well known told me that he could not do no better than Gene Caldwell. That's how good he is. Since then I have recommended him to a lot of people everyone has been satisfied.

She was unprofessional from the time she took my sons case. She doesn't follow up with her client. She belittled myself and my son when we had questions. She will tell you she has other cases to tend to as if you're not a priority as well. She threatened my son to take a plea that he did not want to take in court and if he didn't she was not going to continue with his case. She does not speak like an attorney. She does not dress appropriately in court, in fact she had on a pair of nursing crock shoes with a dress. She was late to court. Not one time before my sons court date did she visit him or contact him about his case. She is rude, talks over you, and her attitude is nasty. This is not the person you would want to represent you or a loved one. She will not fight for you.
