Laura Noble was recommended to me by another lawyer that I know well. She agreed to take a look at my case to see if she felt that she would be able to assist me obtain a favorable outcome. A demand was sent to my former employer which unfortunately fell on deaf ears. Despite this, Laura kept continuing to advocate on my behalf until it became apparent that a decision had to be made on how the case could move forward. Due to her heavy workload and the actual case facts, she wasn't able to take my case through litigation but we mutually agreed that litigation wasn't the best avenue based on the circumstances. She also provided me with an additional resource should I decide to litigate my case. Laura was receptive, helpful, responsive, knowledgeable and fought hard for me. What I really liked about Laura most was that she was direct and to the point and told me up front what her expectations were and how she would fight for me. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a hard-working and well respected professional lawyer in the employment law field.

My experience was positive and I am grateful that I chose the Noble Law firm to represent my case. I was referred to Noble Law Firm by other lawyers whom I called directly for advice prior to actually speaking to Laura, which gave me an immediate sense of confidence that my case will be handled by experts. Indeed, the Noble Team Firm demonstrated excellence in their expertise in addition to their already known extensive legal work experience and stellar academic background. From initial interview by Laura who spoke to me immediately on the same day I called the firm, followed by Deirdre who immediately took care of the paperwork and scheduled a meeting with Nick (as my lawyer) for office consultation proved efficiency and commitment to my case. From my first conversation with Nick, you become aware of his integrity and knowledge, and more over the passion he exudes for his work. Any concern or question I had was immediately addressed; any information I requested was promptly forwarded; and phone calls were answered in a timely manner. My opinion and thoughts regarding my case when discussed with my lawyer were treated with respect and attention and I think that’s important in a lawyer-client relationship. I felt validated that my input was heard and I received an honest response, which showed my lawyer took the time to listen and deciphered information pertinent to the case. From experience, I strongly believe the Noble Law Firm can help resolve cases (simple or complex) on employment- related matters. It took 3 months for Noble Law Firm to resolve the case but throughout, both Laura and Nick continued to show honesty, genuine warmth and kindness. They cared and were strategic in seeking resolution for their client’s best interest. I highly recommend the Noble Law Firm without reservation to anyone seeking legal representation on employment matters. Thank you so much!

Having Lisa Angel represent me during the most difficult time in my life was a godsend. Her constant availability, fierce advocacy and sage advice kept me focused on what was important in my divorce settlement process and block out at times the unhelpful noise from friends and family. I would recommend her to anyone contemplating divorce and wanting a very experienced hand and fighter in your corner.

10/10. Although my case was lengthy (for reasons outside of the attorney’s control) Fapojuwo Law made this experience considerably smooth for me. Josiah Fapojuwo is an intelligently, knowledgeable and well experienced attorney. I was recommended to him by a peer and I will further recommend his office to whomever in need. I’m confident that he will always go above and beyond. Thank you for everything!

Currently in a lawsuit with this company representing the other party, not sure if they read the accident report but I'm sure this firm encouraged their client to lie based on claims they made that aren’t matching up to the accident report. When I spoke to Mrs.Rameriez to see why after being paid out by my insurance they’re trying to claim more I was met with hostility. Already spoke to my insurance who verified all payouts have been paid & documents have been signed. Very interesting & will be counter suing her & her client for fraudulent claims. Sad to see people abusing the system and this law firm encouraging it.

I highly recommend Kevin Ginsberg. I spoke with him at length about a claim for an auto accident, and he took the time to help me understand in detail how these cases work, what we could (and could not) recover, and offered several avenues to proceed. Because the claim was so straightforward, Kevin provided me with the information I needed to be confident in settling it on my own. The case ultimately settled exactly as Kevin suggested it would with a fair and reasonable settlement. I greatly appreciate his clear and straightforward guidance. It helps that Kevin came highly recommended to me by a law firm my family has worked with for years. They always steer us right and definitely did so in sending us to Kevin Ginsberg. Highly recommend.

I do not recommend this law firm for personal injury or any other matters. They don't communicate well and take weeks to do the simplest of tasks. They make you feel like you're not smart enough to understand legal jargon. I don't feel like they care about me and my outcome at all but keep giving excuses to push me aside for another few months. They didn't even notify me when my attorney and paralegal left the firm and gave me no one to contact.

I can't say enough how this law firm blessed me and my family. From day one when I called them they wasn't just concerned about the problem but also my entire family well being. They worked so hard for me and my family and made sure they could get us as much as we possibly deserved. Over the year they stayed in constant communication making sure we was aware of everything going on in the case. My daughter literally came in this world fighting for her life and they continued the fight for her. I can never say thank you enough. I personally feel like my attorney became our family as well. Pleaseeee if your considering using this law firm don't HESITATE!! You will be in great hands for sure. To my attorney Kristen you are heaven sent NEVER FORGET IT because we will NEVER FORGET YOU ! :)

He tell me theirs nothing much he could really do bc I may get lost wages less than 3000$ and his attorney fees are way more than that. And basically he couldn’t represent me. I was referred to Mr. Ross by another attorney I know in Greensboro. I left a message for him to call me. He returned the call within TWO HOURS, he listened patiently and was extremely polite and empathetic. I needed information to see if I immediately needed an attorney and he could have taken advantage of my fear. Instead he was calm reassuring and told me wait until things developed and call him back. He gave me some advice in the interim as well. He was a total gentleman, already I highly recommend him and feel sure he will be a great attorney

I hired Howard to represent me in a traffic case in Durham County. The initial charge was G.S. 20-141(j1), and we were able to enter a plea of responsible to G.S. 20-123.2 (improper equipment) with no required conditions. This is the best possible outcome for a speeding ticket in NC, as it is a non-moving infraction that has no insurance impact, no points, and no per-policy limits or out-of-state issues like a PJC. Howard was able to effectively present my case, clean driving record, and letter to the court to the DA's office to obtain this plea deal. It is essential to have a lawyer who knows the local DAs and is willing to put in the time to continue the case to a date with the most favorable DA/district judge. Howard was able to obtain an improper equipment in my case even though it was outside of the usual guidelines for this county, and without a requirement of traffic school. Despite staffing changes in the DA's office, Howard was able to adapt and get a strong deal even with a brand new DA. Howard appeared around four times in court all for a flat fee that was about equal to the cost of the ticket. It took about five months in total to resolve the case, and I did not have to appear in court at all. Most speeding tickets are going to cost $250-350 in fines/costs. The question is what will happen to your driving record and insurance rates. That is where paying Howard a few hundred dollars is well worth it. Defense lawyers know the DAs and they have a professional rapport with them. I thought about going to court myself, but even though I had a good idea of the laws, I wouldn't have known the people and procedures to expect in this county. Howard knows exactly what to expect and how to best present the case to the DAs. Howard never routes calls or texts to a secretary--some of the lawyers I contacted, and many that sent advertisements in the mail, did not even let you talk to a lawyer before hiring them. Howard gave a lengthy phone consultation at no charge and was in no hurry. Howard will ask to see your citation and driving record before giving a flat fee quote for the case. If available for your case, you'll also have to fill out a waiver of appearance form if you do not want to appear in court each time yourself. I actually found Howard by chance by looking at the bar directory, and he was a bit surprised as he does not do any advertising. If you've come across this listing I would definitely recommend giving him a call. I think it's best to call a few different lawyers as I did, and choose who you feel most comfortable trusting your case with. Cross out anyone who doesn't give a real consultation or pushes you to decide right away. Whatever you decide to do, Howard will give you a consultation and put you at ease regarding your case. As a local college student, Howard provided a service that was affordable to me and well worth the money.

I can’t recommend Josh and his team (Josie, Carmen, Anna, Gaige) enough! Josh provided excellent legal counsel. Josie was always available and quick to respond. Josh took a composed but aggressive approach in dealing with my challenging and emotional legal situation. He is not going to be pushed around and certainly didn’t let that happen to me, either. Josh did a great job staying grounded and level headed in presenting options to me and his action plan. When there were times I was unable to think clearly as a result of emotion, he and Josie provided much support. Most important, after our initial consult, I felt much more at ease knowing Josh was in my corner and knew how to legally navigate the situation in which I had zero legal experience. He is a brilliant, outside-the-box thinker who found a way to resolution while not letting my case escalate. If you are looking for an attorney for a complex employment situation, you definitely want Josh on your side. Great job, Josh and team! Thank you!

A god awful firm, at first seemed like a very compassionate and empathetic guy…. Until we left money with the him. Told us just to put a deposit with him to put him on the “back burner” and if we ended up not needing him he would refund the money. Well as time goes by and we realize we don’t need him anymore we begin to try to reach out to get the 1500$ back. Mind you $1700 in total 200 just to talk to the guy which we understood was non refundable not the 1500. I finally get in touch with the guy I’m very respectful, and he goes to gas lighting me and saying off the wall things after he tells me he is not going to refund me. Highly Un professional never dealt with a “lawyer” that acted in the manner of this guy today. Very disappointed and would be careful with leaving this guy any money. Be 100% sure that you need his services before you do so. Mind you this “lawyer” never stepped foot in a court room for us, just took the money and told us we will not be getting it back.

What a Discrimination Lawyer Can Do for You

A discrimination lawyer specializes in handling cases where individuals or groups face unfair treatment based on protected characteristics, such as race, gender, age, religion, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation. These lawyers assist clients in filing discrimination claims, representing them in legal proceedings, and ensuring that their rights under federal, state, and local laws are upheld. Discrimination cases may arise in employment, housing, education, public accommodations, or other settings.

Whether you’ve been discriminated against at work, denied housing, or treated unfairly in other areas of life, a discrimination lawyer can help you navigate the legal process and seek compensation or corrective action.

When Should I Hire a Discrimination Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a discrimination lawyer in several situations where unfair treatment occurs based on protected characteristics. Common scenarios include:

  • Employment Discrimination:
    • Workplace discrimination: If you’ve been treated unfairly at work because of your race, gender, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, or another protected status, a lawyer can help you file a claim with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or a similar state agency.
    • Wrongful termination: If you were fired due to discrimination or retaliation for reporting discriminatory behavior, a lawyer can assist with filing a lawsuit and seeking compensation for lost wages, emotional distress, and other damages.
    • Failure to promote: If you’ve been denied a promotion or opportunities due to discriminatory practices, a lawyer can investigate the claim and represent you in legal actions against your employer.
    • Harassment: If you’ve experienced workplace harassment, such as sexual harassment or a hostile work environment based on your race, gender, or other characteristics, a lawyer can help you pursue legal remedies.
  • Housing Discrimination:
    • Denial of housing: If you’ve been denied housing due to your race, disability, family status, or other protected factors, a lawyer can help you file a complaint with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or sue the landlord or property manager for violating the Fair Housing Act.
    • Unfair rental practices: If a landlord or property manager treats you unfairly based on discriminatory factors (e.g., refusing reasonable accommodations for a disability), a lawyer can help you enforce your rights.
  • Education Discrimination:
    • Discrimination in schools: If you or your child has faced discrimination in an educational setting based on race, disability, gender, or religion, a lawyer can help you file complaints under laws like Title VI, Title IX, or the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Public Accommodations:
    • Denial of services: If a business or public service has discriminated against you based on race, gender, disability, or other protected characteristics, a lawyer can assist you in filing a complaint or lawsuit under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or other anti-discrimination laws.

Hiring a discrimination lawyer early can help protect your rights and ensure that your claim is filed within legal deadlines.

What Does a Discrimination Lawyer Do?

A discrimination lawyer provides a range of legal services to help individuals and groups fight against discriminatory practices. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Filing discrimination claims: A lawyer can help you file a complaint with government agencies, such as the EEOC, HUD, or your state’s human rights commission. They ensure that your claim is properly documented and filed within required time limits.
  • Investigating discrimination claims: Discrimination lawyers gather evidence, interview witnesses, and review documents to build a strong case for proving discriminatory practices.
  • Negotiating settlements: In many cases, a lawyer can negotiate a settlement with the employer, landlord, or other party involved in the discrimination case, seeking compensation or corrective action without going to trial.
  • Representing clients in court: If your case goes to court, a lawyer will represent you during hearings, present evidence, and argue your case before a judge or jury.
  • Handling retaliation claims: If you face retaliation for filing a discrimination complaint or reporting discriminatory practices, a lawyer can help you pursue a retaliation claim.
  • Advising on legal rights: A discrimination lawyer explains your legal rights under federal and state anti-discrimination laws, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the ADA, the Fair Housing Act, and others.

How Are Discrimination Lawyers Paid?

Discrimination lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the expected duration of the legal process. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: Many discrimination lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case. Their fee is usually a percentage of the settlement or court award, typically ranging from 25% to 40%.
  • Hourly rate: For cases that don’t involve a contingency fee arrangement, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates for discrimination lawyers generally range from $200 to $600 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and the case’s complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler legal tasks, such as drafting a discrimination complaint or providing legal advice, some lawyers may charge a flat fee.
  • Pro bono or reduced fees: Some discrimination lawyers offer pro bono (free) or reduced-fee services, especially in cases involving low-income clients or significant civil rights issues.

It’s important to discuss fee arrangements during your initial consultation to ensure that you understand the total cost of legal services and how payment will be handled.

How Much Does a Discrimination Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a discrimination lawyer depends on factors like the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the potential for a settlement or trial. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: If the lawyer works on a contingency basis, their fee will typically range from 25% to 40% of any settlement or court award. For example, if you win a settlement of $50,000 and the lawyer’s fee is 30%, they would receive $15,000, and you would keep the remaining $35,000.
  • Hourly rates: Discrimination lawyers who charge by the hour typically bill between $200 and $600 per hour. For example, a case that takes 20 hours of legal work at $300 per hour would cost $6,000 in legal fees.
  • Flat fees: Some legal services, such as filing a discrimination complaint or providing a legal consultation, may be available for a flat fee ranging from $500 to $2,500, depending on the complexity of the task.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale fees: In some cases, particularly for low-income individuals, lawyers may offer reduced fees or work pro bono.

Always ask for a detailed estimate of costs during your consultation, and clarify whether the lawyer offers flexible payment options.

Top Questions to Ask a Discrimination Lawyer

Before hiring a discrimination lawyer, it’s important to ask key questions to ensure they have the experience and qualifications to handle your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with discrimination cases?
Ensure that the lawyer has handled discrimination cases similar to yours, whether it involves employment, housing, or public accommodation discrimination.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee, hourly rate, or flat fee, and ask for a detailed breakdown of costs.
  3. What are my chances of success?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case, including potential challenges and the likelihood of success.
  4. How long will the process take?
Discrimination cases can take time to resolve, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to take, from filing a complaint to reaching a settlement or going to trial.
  5. Will I need to go to court?
Ask whether your case is likely to settle out of court or if a trial may be necessary. If a trial is possible, ask what steps the lawyer will take to prepare.
  6. What damages or remedies can I seek?
Ask about the types of compensation or corrective action you can pursue, such as back pay, emotional distress damages, job reinstatement, or policy changes.
  7. What steps should I take to protect my rights?
Ask for advice on how to document evidence, handle workplace or housing interactions, and avoid retaliation while your case is pending.

How to Check the Credibility of a Discrimination Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable discrimination lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their bar status: Verify that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and in good standing with the state bar association. You can check this on your state bar’s website.
  • Look for discrimination case experience: Review the lawyer’s website or profile to ensure they specialize in employment law, civil rights, or discrimination cases and have successfully handled similar cases in the past.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about their experience with the lawyer.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on discrimination matters.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Look for certifications or memberships in civil rights organizations or employment law associations, such as the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a discrimination lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Detailed account of the discrimination: Provide a clear description of the discriminatory actions, including dates, locations, and individuals involved. Document specific incidents and any witnesses who can support your claim.
  • Workplace or housing records: Bring copies of relevant employment or housing documents, such as job performance evaluations, rental agreements, emails, or written correspondence related to the discrimination.
  • Company or organization policies: If the discrimination occurred in the workplace or housing, bring copies of company policies, employee handbooks, or housing agreements that outline anti-discrimination policies.
  • Evidence of damages: Provide evidence of any financial losses, such as lost wages, job termination, or increased rent, as well as emotional or psychological distress caused by the discrimination.
  • Previous complaints or actions: If you’ve filed previous complaints or taken any action related to the discrimination, such as reporting the issue to HR or filing a complaint with a government agency, bring copies of those documents.
  • Questions about the process: Prepare a list of questions about your legal options, potential outcomes, and the lawyer’s approach to handling your case.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your situation more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice for pursuing your discrimination claim.
