They weren't able to take my case because the GIA notice deadline had passed, but Diane is a lovely person. She did look into the details to make sure the legal deadlines had indeed lapsed. She and Eric seem thorough, professional, and realistic about expectations.

Case: DHS founded finding appeal.
Result: The finding was overturned.
John won the case. I had an appeal of a DHS founded finding and John represented me after I consulted him. Over the course of several months John and I were in frequent communication about the case. This communication was in the form of phone calls and meetings in his office. As this was my preference with communicating. We were able to plan our approach to the Attorney General and work towards overturning the DHS finding. The appeal was successful and as result the findings overturned.
John is highly versed with appeals. During his career he exposed biased determinations made by DHS. He explained the intimidation tactics often used by the government leading up to these hearings and assured me, he would be able to effectively litigate our case.
I highly recommend John. He takes the time to listen to you. You can call him and he will listen to everything you have to say. That was incredibly important to me, and I’m very appreciative of the professionalism. With decades of practicing law his wealth of knowledge is what sets him apart.

I can't speak to the other lawyers at this firm, but I had a very disturbing experience with Andrew Castle, who represented one of my friends in a relatively high profile case. Unfortunately, my friend was found guilty on all 7 counts. And my friend and I weren't really sure of what to do. I asked him if there was any way I could use my platform to try to help? And my friend said that it might help, but that we should first ask his lawyer Andrew, before doing anything. We had agreed that this was a good idea, and I sent an email asking what Andrew thought, making it very clear that I wouldn't do anything if that made him or my friend uncomfortable.
When I asked Andrew if using my platform would be of any use, Andrew's response was very aggressive. I asked him why he was being aggressive, when I already had agreed to not doing anything that he didn't feel comfortable with. To my surprise, his response was to tell me to stop talking to his client, my friend, while he was in custody.
It was a very jarring experience as I simply wanted to try to help my friend, and again, had no interest in doing anything that would make my friend or Andrew feel uncomfortable.
I also found this to be very disturbing, as I imagine being in jail is tough, and someone in jail might want to have as many friends as possible to talk to. However, because I didn't want to further anger Andrew, I and others stopped talking to our friend until he was out of custody. I think that's an incredibly horrible and cruel position to put all of us in, as we simply wanted to provide emotional support throughout an incredibly tough time.
I found Andrew to be extremely insecure, aggressive, and unprofessional. If you or someone you care about is going through a legal process, it's generally a very painful time, and having a lawyer lash out in these ways really adds to the stress of that. I would highly recommend finding a lawyer who can treat others in a professional manner, or at least with a kind mentality.

Barry went above and beyond in so many ways. As his client, I was expecting professionalism and efficiency - both of which he executed flawlessly. What I was not expecting was how well he not only managed my expectations of my case, but the extent to which he made me feel heard, believed in my innocence and how understanding he was of the mental health impact that my situation was having on me. He provided me with the perfect amount of urgency in getting on top of the matter while also providing a sense of calm to keep me level-headed. Thank you both to Attorney Conor Stewartson and Paralegal Diane Barrera at Colorado Legal Defense Group for representing our daughter in her criminal defense case.
My husband and I spoke to several Attorney firms to help us and after speaking with Diane and the Intake Attorney Cole Presnell, we decided to go with their firm. I can honestly say that Diane was key in helping us make the decision to use their firm. She was very understanding and genuinely cared, being a mother herself. She was available early on and even followed up to make sure we landed safely in CO that same evening to be there for our daughter.
Conor was assigned to our case and I was advised although he was new with the firm he had an extensive background as a Criminal defense Attorney. Initially, I was concerned w/him being new to the firm but after speaking with him, doing a background check and reading up on him, he put those concerns to rest.
There were times it was difficult to get a hold of Conor but my understanding was his contact phone was still being setup at the time, since he was new w/the firm. But he did return my call when I really needed him over the weekend on a late evening. Also, Diane was always available even on weekends (not normal or expected) and kept the communication going if Conor was not available due to being in court or working w/another client.
Ultimately, the outcome of our case was in our daughter's favor and it was completely dismissed all due to the hard work of both Conor and Diane. Their skill set and ability to do what they do, fighting on our daughter's behalf produced the best outcome possible and we are so thankful to them both!
The billing process early on was easy and in speaking w/Diane that was not even a concern at the time with what was going on. Which truly shows the caliber of the firm and their people as a whole of who they are and what they are about.
We are thankful to both Conor and Diane and are truly blessed to have been represented by them, but as I mentioned to Diane, we pray we never need their services again! But would definitely recommend them and the firm if we ever needed legal help.

Outstanding Trial Lawyer
After I was wrongly charged with a very serious crime I hired David Jones. David did explain to me the risks and benefits of going to trial. Having no experience in this field at all, I was pretty terrified when I was shown to be at fault for a car accident. The entire team was excellent gave me a lot of information helped me to remain calm, and on the day of Katy in particular went way above and beyond the call of duty to help facilitate me reaching the courthouse on time. I was very impressed on every level with this operation.

Katherine Reckman represented me in my divorce and she was very fair and steadfast through my proceedings. My ex husband chose very inept representative which derailed his case. In the end, he trusted Katherine to write up our agreement which he eventually signed. Divorce is ugly and stressful and in Colorado, you need someone who can negotiate with the other side to keep the cost down. Katherine did that and was able to do it with empathy. Highly recommended.

I found Terri when I was traumatized, alone and incredibly scared. I highly recommend this firm, and Terri Harrington, specifically. This was the best decision I made during a very overwhelming divorce process. I hired Terri the week before my scheduled mediation, as the previous lawyer dropped the ball significantly and I had to fire him. Terri and her team were incredibly communicative (for example, I have never had to wait longer than 24 hours for a reply), empathetic, knowledgeable, and quick. Carla was a horrible attorney for me! It was in 2011 I came to her with threats on my life from my husband and seeking a divorce. Her assistant Catherine MacCarthy did ALL the work and answer all my questions, Carla was sick but never was apologetic in her absence as my attorney. If it were not for Carla's help, I'm not sure I would have the life that I share with my daughter today. Navigating the waters of a custody case are overwhelming and scary. Carla handled a fairly complicated divorce for me. She was very well prepared in court, often several steps ahead of opposing counsel. She had answers to their questions before they knew what they were going to ask.
She took care to ensure what was best for my son and leveraged a combination of negation and the courts to deescalate where possible. This ultimately brought us to settlement in what, by all measures, could have been a contentious and messy process.
Above all, I felt like she struck just the right balance between being legally and strategically acute, while still compassionate to the emotional difficulties of divorce. She often asked me of how my son was doing, with honest concern, and clearly wanted to help me achieve a peaceful and fair outcome.
I certainly have no plans to get divorced again, but I would highly recommend her to anybody needing a family attorney.

My experience with Allen Vellone Wolf Helfrich & Factor has been beyond great. They dug into the issues of my case and discovered things in my favor that go far beyond what other defendants in the same case appear to have missed or not seriously considered. My opinions of Jim Helfrich and Kate Sender go beyond my ability to express. The best I can say is that I trust them to do their absolute best, which I believe they have done. No bullshit.
They haven’t always told me what I want to hear, but they have always considered my opinion and that has been reflected in the things they have produced on my behalf. My case is not over, but they believe in me and have taken my side with the best they have to offer. Their rates are fair, and I have never had the feeling they were fabricating hours as so many law firms do, especially the law firm that is attacking me. I suspect I will have more to add to this review in the future.

Many people had told me over the duration of my case that things weren't quite adding up and that my attorney did not seem to have our best interests at heart. I began to reflect on the case and all the inconsistencies, placating to the other side and capitulating to them as well. I then conferred with another attorney and ended up retaining her services to finish out my case. Upon the new attorney's review of my case, she stated this case was a mess, and she was flabbergasted at all the litigation that was allowed to take place. My husband and I are still speechless to this day for what Colin did for my husband as well as me. The first lawyer my husband consulted gave him terrible advice, then we found Colin. Not long after the initial consultation my husband was arrested and I called Colin immediately to know what to do. He even had the patience to explain to me where I needed to go for my husbands bail hearing and how that process worked. This was a complex case from the start and Colin was there every step of the way. What started as sexual assault allegations after my husband told his ex wife he’d be filing for divorce, turned into an absolute nightmare that lasted months. Colin referred us to an amazing divorce attorney, and along the journey represented my husband to the end. Colin has extensive knowledge of criminal cases and this truly shows when he fights for you in the court room. We didn’t make things easy for Colin and his team either, along the journey my husband and I, who were struggling with addiction, represented us in Teller county for a new charge we each got as well as represented me in El Paso county for violating probation on a two year old dwai case. When you’re in this situation that you never in a life time thought you’d be in, you think your life is over. ITS NOT. Colin is truly an angel, a miracle worker. He spoke daily with both of us, answered every question we had…. Even the insane ones lol… but he did it with care and love and dedication. My husband and I will forever be grateful to Colin and his team. This case was from 2019 I believe, and it took me a while to write the review, and I regret not writing it sooner so more people can be helped. When you think of the legal representation you need in a case, you think it’s not going to be affordable, but it was. I hired Miles to represent me in a traffic case in which I was unable to attend the court date. In the end, he got me the best possible outcome regarding the tickets, however, the process leading up to the court date was a little shaky. It was often difficult to reach him and I felt as though I had to keep an eye on the process. He would not ask for paperwork from me, instead, I periodically had to check in with him to ensure he had everything he needed from me. Finally, on the court day, he called looking for more files. I would have expected them to check and make sure they had everything before the court date.
But like I said, in the end, everything worked out so I can't complain.

I contacted Mr. Cabral immediately after getting my ticket. The ticket said it was a misdemeanor traffic violation and I didn't want a chance to go to jail or the stress of having to deal with this on my own. Mr. Cabral worked on my case right from the beginning and kept in contact with me with each step. The ticket was written incorrectly so no one was going to take responsibility at the clerks office to determine which way to interpret the ticket. Mr. Cabral must have visited my case at least 5 times or more before meeting me. He was very professional and approachable. The $500 I paid was well worth the trauma and stress I didn't have to go through.

Michael Root failed to provide me with adequate representation in a Retaliation Against a Judge case. The witness (alleged victim Judge) had provably lied on the witness stand, and Mr. Root, more concerned about preserving his career than seeking justice, threw me under the bus: the official Court transcript vs. the actual evidence on the record of the Court proves this. If I could give a 0 rating I would this man should have retired 10 years ago all he does is talk to you like you're a friend and he gives you advice but never actually helps you with your court case. He sat in on a mediation with me and talked to my sister the entire time about her living in New York and then turned around and tried to charge me thousands of dollars for it. I ended up having to complete my entire case alone with the courts. He should be disbarred if you ask me and he should give his services away for free.
