There is a New Generation of Family Law Experts in NE Florida and Christie Guerrero is leading the Pack. I don’t want to draw comparisons, so I will say Christie is establishing the Best Practice and format for the law, TODAY. So much has changed in this area, leaving gaps for both interpretation and leverage. I benefited greatly in a Contested case because of my Counsel’s Outstanding research ability and aggressive approach. I want to thank God that we found Cindi ! When things look grim and hopeless for my daughter and children I believe we were guided to Cindi. The previous lawyer my daughter had was useless and kept telling her she had to keep going back into a home that was dangerous for her and our grandchildren because of domestic violence.
Within days of hiring Cindi things started to change for the better. She proved to the court that our daughter and grandchildren needed protection from the domestic violence. Cindi is a true advocate for her clients. She was contacted during a time of despair and even though she was skeptical at first of our concerns….she listened to us and sat down to go over our case. We had previously had a well known attorney out of Jacksonville. Unfortunately, he did not take the time to listen to us nor fight for what we knew could not be afforded. Cindi ended up locating the egregious mathematical errors that had resulted in the judge awarding the other party an outrageous monthly alimony payment (an alimony payment that was unable to be made due to other bills and obligations). She fought for what could be afforded…..which was no alimony….and she delivered! It’s been an extended, prolonged battle but in the end the outcome is much better than we could have ever anticipated!! Cindi is incredibly knowledgeable about the law and sets realistic expectations for what the judge is likely to award. She does not make empty promises. Her prices are also incredibly reasonable and if I’m being honest, she should raise her fees. Cindi’s rates are fair and she remains conscientious of her client’s budget (unlike many other attorneys out there who will bill you for every little thing and take unnecessary and unproductive steps just in order to create billable hours). Cindi also always keeps the childrens’ best interest at heart. She is genuinely compassionate about her job and you tell how much she loves family law with the effort that she puts in! I cannot recommend her enough! She has held our hand through this process and even though I know we are her client….I consider her a friend. We will be turning to her as the years go by any time legal assistance is needed!

In 2009, I went through a divorce after being married for 14 years to my high school sweetheart. I was devastated to find out that my husband was having an affair and that his mistress was moving from Boston to Jacksonville in less than 2 weeks. A friend of mine advised that I call her attorney, Garrett Barket, and I am so glad that I did!
From the moment I walked into the office, Garrett and his paralegal, Jan, did whatever they could to put me at ease. I think of them as the "dynamic duo." They knew that I was scared, devastated and had no idea what was going to happen to me or my kids. Garrett treated me with respect and was beyond caring. Jan was always available for questions and Garrett was always prompt to reply when I needed to be in touch with him. He knew the law and was honest about what could happen and did not give me any false expectations.
I met with several other "top" attorneys in town who were either not professional or treated me as if I was just a number. One of them even hinted that he would like to go on a date! When I met Garrett, I was impressed with his knowledge of the law and how respectful he was. He made me feel confident that he would defend my rights to the best of his abilities. My case turned out just like he had predicted and I couldn't be happier with the results. I was able to get alimony until my kids are 18 yrs of age and the child support I needed to provide them the same kind of lifestyle we were accustomed to. A divorce is devastating to a family, but when you have a reputable attorney on your side, it makes the process a little less daunting.

Since the beginning, they were upfront with timing, prices, and possible outcomes. She works with you , and explains the process with everything that’s going on when it’s actually happening so you don’t feel lost. My particular case, at one point, escalated to another case and she managed it great. She definitely sticks with you no matter the situation, because at the end , during these types of situations that is what one truly most desired to feel backed up and secure. I've used Omar for a couple of things and been very happy with his service. He's great about communicating, which not all lawyers are. His fees are reasonable, given the cost of legal issues these days. He gives things to you straight, but lets you make your own decision after laying out all the facts. I like his common sense approach. His ego doesn't get in the way. I like his ethics. I like his honesty. I've recommended him to my friends. He's got a grasp of what ordinary people are up against, instead of being insulated from the real world.

Robert was awesome to work with. My case took years to resolve and i never felt out of the loop. I could always get ahold of him through text, calls, or emails. He took what we needed into account and always made sure we were able to get the treatment we needed for our injuries. In the long run we were able to settle right as the trial started and we are happy to have our future treatment and more secure. Such a weight is off our shoulders and we have Robert and everyone else at his firm that helped to thank for it. I went through this firm for a case and it was great and everything it's needed to be until paying the retainer. Once the retainer was paid, it was a disaster. The lawyer i had was Derrick Smith. He communicated poorly, made sure i was(u uninformed, unaggressive and unargumenttative in court in all hearings, and seemed unprepared. People from my government job came to my hearing and told me he needed another profession and there was no way possible he was a lawyer, It was just that bad. When confronted about it he dropped from the case and didn't return any of the money without reaching trial which was the agreement signed. I called the company to seek another attorney as I was blown off as if my case didn't matter. I have proof. I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS LAW FIRM, YOU COULD BE NEXT.

This firm did not go the distance. Do not and would never recommend this firm to do your case justice. First off be mindful of the name Porter Law “Firm.” Porter NEVER worked the case. We had no communication with Porter EVER. Even when requested that he take over the case because we didn’t feel that the case was being handled aggressively as we were promised when hired. Initially we had hope. Thatcher was on the case and he was always prompt, he showed up and answered questions, and he was confident. Then it all changed. First, the state attorney was reassigned from the case then Thatcher left the firm and the case was reassigned to Abuetello. Always late, it got to the point where we just asked when will you be there so we don’t have to wait for all the other cases, uncertain and never forthcoming with answers to questions and had to start over with the case because she was newly assigned in place of Thatcher. We brought up the request to try for entrapment only to be told “ that’s too hard of an angle.” A couple of depositions later, requests for more money and finally we could talk negotiations only the negotiations were null. Usually at the trial point you would think a couple of offers would be extended, no. We got 1 offer. Then Abuetello tells us she is leaving the firm and the state attorney is new to the case and it’s this offer or risking it to go to trial. What other option is there. We felt rushed and without options.Now we have a sentence of prison time… A paid lawyer got us what a public defender could have. Later received closing documents and additional requests for more money. Highly disappointed in this firm and would NEVER recommend.

I had changed attorneys a few times over the last several years, trying to find peace, protection and support for enforcement of a court order. Distance has proved to bring more peace than not, and Mr. Willmott has fought hard to ensure my relationship with my son will always be a healthy one despite continuous, manipulative tactics from opposing party. I am not one to typically write online reviews, but perhaps my experience will save others money. I consulted with Mr Loucel for estate planning advice for myself and my mother specifically about methods to protect assets from Medicare claims (he home). He charged me $500 to do research to confirm an irrevocable trust was the best path. After a couple of non response to my emails, I went to another attorney in the same field. At NO CHARGE, i was given a totally different answer. If estate planning is his specialty, in MY OPINION, he should have know about homestead exemption limits on property which would have negated the need for an irrevocable trust (again based on advice from the other attorney as i am no expert in law.
