I was originally referred to Maureen O'Brien at O'Brien, Thomas and Bibek, LLC law firm by my personal attorney. Maureen was unable to take my case due to illness but she recommended David and he accepted my case.
David provided invaluable professional and discreet assistance in the court room while handling my case. He spoke to the judge and the district attorney on my behalf on several occasions while we were both in the court room. He negotiated a reduction in charges with the district attorney that changed my potential conviction of a felony to a misdemeanor. David also led me through the required paperwork and after I fulfilled my court ordered probation requirements, achieve early termination of my probation.

Rachel Oliver is the best attorney I've ever had. She was working for the Jefferson County Public Defender's Office at the time. This was my fourth DUI in a lifetime , My last DUI was 20 years ago. I went to AA and treatment and I have been sober for over 2 and 1/2 years. She believed I took responsibility for my actions and I was ready to take the punishment I deserved. I was also looking at a extensive jail sentence, but I ended up with a much shorter sentence. I have had other attorneys over the years that I actually hired and paid. I have never seen or heard of a public defender attorney fighting so hard for their client. I know they are so overwhelmed with clients.. but despite that she spent a lot of time meeting with me and treated me with respect and courtesy. Rachel really cares about all her clients . I feel I owe her so much. I would hire her for anything at any time. I have recommended her to anyone I know that needs an attorney. I would never hire any other attorney except for her! She goes to bat for you, and fight as hard as she can for you. She really, really listens to what you have to say. I could go on and on how great she is , but I would run out of room. A year and a half ago, my 19-year-old daughter was arrested and initially charged with 18 charges, one of which carried a mandatory sentence of life without parole. I am so glad we hired Rachel. Her and her team worked so hard for her, overturning every stone, peeling back every layer. She fought for my daughter to the very end and we were so fortunate that through her dedication, my daughter was sentenced to probation. Pueblo PD arrested me and hit me with a litany of firearms and burglary charges that I absolutely did not commit. All the charges added up to over 20 years in prison if convicted. I bonded out and called Rodemer and Kane immediately. With their help, 6 months later they dropped the charges and plead down to a criminal trespass. 6 months probation and a little community service. So recently, I had an unfortunate situation arise where I needed a lawyer regarding a family dispute involving young children. Unfortunately we couldn’t come to a resolution and I was forced to find a lawyer to represent me.
The team at Kohn law, specifically Erica Bertini and Debbie are beyond amazing and represented me with stellar results! On the initial consultation, I knew they were who I wanted representing me!
I was treated with the utmost respect and spoken with, not at or down to. When things were getting tight on time, they worked with me and helped me get through everything being stern but still considerate and respectful treating me as a person not just another client.
We won the initial part of our battle with ease because I retained an amazing law firm with stellar lawyers who have amazing knowledge, expertise and experience! The paralegal, Debbie, was always professional, staying on the phone with me sometimes late to make sure she had all the information, documentation and details that they needed to proceed with my case. I cant stress enough the phenomenal work Mr. Lance Wood put into helping me with my case. I was accused of Domestic violence and strangulation. Mr wood thoroughly examined the half hearted attempt at an investigation on the military’s side, and one sided review of an allegation with no support. Mr. Wood was always available when i would call or text even with the dilemma of being hours apart in different time zones. As nerve racking as my administration separation board was, Mr. Woods confidence and knowledge of regulation shut down multiple attempts at a flawed attempt to bring detriment to my character. Mr. Woods hard work and commitment resulted in a unanimous decision among the board members for retention in the Army, and unfounded accusations. The efforts and work Mr. Wood put in to achieve this outcome has drastically affected my life, I can move on with my career and continue to lead soldiers and be in my career field Im passionate about. I will be forever grateful that he removed a heavy weight from my shoulders, this career means everything to me and Mr. Wood could see that. And i could clearly see that Mr. Wood was passionate about his career field and proving and ensuring the justice system was not just a check the block system. I would recommend this counsel under any circumstances.

I am writing this the day after being acquitted. I feel that I owe a thorough review to give the you the most transparent information.
1. Stages when charges were preferred: I spoke with many attorneys, but Lance stood out from the rest. He was easy to talk to, easy to get a hold of, I could text him directly and he would promptly respond, he was willing to offer useful insight without charging a dime. I did not immediately hire Lance because the preliminary hearing had went in my favor.
2. Preliminary hearing is NOT binding: because of the prelim going well I did not seek counsel and stayed with TDS. What I was not aware of was that the convening authority ignored the preliminary hearing officer’s determination and proceeded with a general court martial.
3. TDS: trial defense counsel absolutely care about you, however their abilities to create a strong case for you is extremely limited. They are often less experienced than the prosecution and can be intimated by the judge. They often have to request permission from the government to produce witnesses, experts, etc. which they almost always will deny unless it benefits their case against you.
4. Pre-motions hearing: because the government will deny everything, your TDS will likely have to compel the judge to make the government agree to your requests. This is where I got to watch my TDS awkwardly stumble through cross examination and convince the judge of literally nothing. I felt sorry for them and it was my case.
5. After the hearing it became extremely evident I was going to lose my trial and potentially face 3 years confinement, bad conduct discharge and affect my abilities to be a father. My TDS was sympathetic, but already felt defeated.
6. Why does any of this matter and how does this relate to Lance? After leaving the TDS office, I called military trial defenders and Lance got a hold of me later that day. He filed a motion of entry and from the moment he began representing me there was a significant shift from the government.
Suddenly they became cooperative, were willing to talk to Lance and agree on stipulations. No more games, no more dodging TDS calls.
7. At this stage I got to watch Lance slowly and methodically lock the government into a very tight arena.
8. Trial: we went with a panel (jury) over judge alone. Lance is extremely good at attention to detail during jury selection. This is often an underrated process that is crucial when deliberation comes. After jury selection opening statements, witnesses, exhibits and instructions for the panel. what I noticed was the the panel was very reciprocal of Lance, they were very engaged when he spoke and would often nod and passively agree with his arguments. The judge was also very positive to Lance. The judge agreed to all of Lance’s arguments of stipulation and instructions over the governments because he was better able to articulate it. Lastly, even the prosecutors would often try to get lance’s attention and try to joke with him. Lance was respectful and stayed focused. “We’re just going to object to everything, this is what we do” the prosecutor laughed. He knew he was losing. Bad.
9. Lance is willing to call you the stand if it makes sense. He will prepare you and produce a very limited scope to which the government can cross examine. You still have to be mindful, but Lance will absolutely set you up for success on the stand. The panel is EXTREMELY engaged When the accused takes the stand.
9. Closing arguments. This was the only time the prosecution put on a strong show. But even then, Lance is phenomenal at closing arguments. There are many other reviews to support this. I cannot stress enough how crucial a strong closing argument is. It is the last thing the panel gets before deliberation. It is the freshest content on their mind and is the final tip to your case.
10. Deliberation. From the very beginning to the end. Lance was always at a 100%. The panel made a determination within 10 minutes and the verdict was not guilty.

Jake and his team took on my case when I had a hard time finding someone to represent me due to being in the military and moving out of state. The case took a while due to all my medical issues and tracking down my records but his team stayed persistent throughout the whole process. He was able to negotiate my settlement and make sure all medical providers and insurance companies involvied were satisfied. James Cordes provided terrible advice. His drafting was sloppy and required extensive redrafting by opposing counsel, and he advised me to take a terrible deal. Because of James, I am taking home a fraction of my income. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize how bad it was until firing him and employing new counsel. He is a nice man, but a bad lawyer. I can't speak to the other lawyers at this firm, but I had a very disturbing experience with Andrew Castle, who represented one of my friends in a relatively high profile case. Unfortunately, my friend was found guilty on all 7 counts. And my friend and I weren't really sure of what to do. I asked him if there was any way I could use my platform to try to help? And my friend said that it might help, but that we should first ask his lawyer Andrew, before doing anything. We had agreed that this was a good idea, and I sent an email asking what Andrew thought, making it very clear that I wouldn't do anything if that made him or my friend uncomfortable.
When I asked Andrew if using my platform would be of any use, Andrew's response was very aggressive. I asked him why he was being aggressive, when I already had agreed to not doing anything that he didn't feel comfortable with. To my surprise, his response was to tell me to stop talking to his client, my friend, while he was in custody.
It was a very jarring experience as I simply wanted to try to help my friend, and again, had no interest in doing anything that would make my friend or Andrew feel uncomfortable.
I also found this to be very disturbing, as I imagine being in jail is tough, and someone in jail might want to have as many friends as possible to talk to. However, because I didn't want to further anger Andrew, I and others stopped talking to our friend until he was out of custody. I think that's an incredibly horrible and cruel position to put all of us in, as we simply wanted to provide emotional support throughout an incredibly tough time.
I found Andrew to be extremely insecure, aggressive, and unprofessional. If you or someone you care about is going through a legal process, it's generally a very painful time, and having a lawyer lash out in these ways really adds to the stress of that. I would highly recommend finding a lawyer who can treat others in a professional manner, or at least with a kind mentality.

Thank you both to Attorney Conor Stewartson and Paralegal Diane Barrera at Colorado Legal Defense Group for representing our daughter in her criminal defense case.
My husband and I spoke to several Attorney firms to help us and after speaking with Diane and the Intake Attorney Cole Presnell, we decided to go with their firm. I can honestly say that Diane was key in helping us make the decision to use their firm. She was very understanding and genuinely cared, being a mother herself. She was available early on and even followed up to make sure we landed safely in CO that same evening to be there for our daughter.
Conor was assigned to our case and I was advised although he was new with the firm he had an extensive background as a Criminal defense Attorney. Initially, I was concerned w/him being new to the firm but after speaking with him, doing a background check and reading up on him, he put those concerns to rest.
There were times it was difficult to get a hold of Conor but my understanding was his contact phone was still being setup at the time, since he was new w/the firm. But he did return my call when I really needed him over the weekend on a late evening. Also, Diane was always available even on weekends (not normal or expected) and kept the communication going if Conor was not available due to being in court or working w/another client.
Ultimately, the outcome of our case was in our daughter's favor and it was completely dismissed all due to the hard work of both Conor and Diane. Their skill set and ability to do what they do, fighting on our daughter's behalf produced the best outcome possible and we are so thankful to them both!
The billing process early on was easy and in speaking w/Diane that was not even a concern at the time with what was going on. Which truly shows the caliber of the firm and their people as a whole of who they are and what they are about.
We are thankful to both Conor and Diane and are truly blessed to have been represented by them, but as I mentioned to Diane, we pray we never need their services again! But would definitely recommend them and the firm if we ever needed legal help.

She was in with the DA and didn't help my husband at all on his case, she would not fight for him why because the court was paying her. She no better then the public defender. She didn't even give him the right days credited. She should be an attorney an do her job right or not be an attorney at all !!! I would not recommend her as an attorney, she will fail you just like she did my husband.

My son was indicted for intent to harm or kill ( assault with a deadly weapon) - Obviously a felony. It was at a side road hot spring. He’s a good kid. It went to a jury trail which scared me to death.
Mike was very clear to me on telephone. Unfortunately I had serious foot surgery and couldn’t go but my former spouse did go. Mike explained the situation clearly and precisely to me. The worst attorney I've dealt with. Made disparaging comments about my race. Seldom returned phone calls and messages. Completely unorganized and unprepared. Threatened to withdraw from my case if I did not accept a plea deal. Lied to a Judge during an evidentiary hearing in order to force his withdrawal. I suggest spending your money elsewhere. Lastly, refused to send me my case file after withdrawing despite the fact that I am legally entitled to it. I would not recommend this attorney.

My experience with Allen Vellone Wolf Helfrich & Factor has been beyond great. They dug into the issues of my case and discovered things in my favor that go far beyond what other defendants in the same case appear to have missed or not seriously considered. My opinions of Jim Helfrich and Kate Sender go beyond my ability to express. The best I can say is that I trust them to do their absolute best, which I believe they have done. No bullshit.
They haven’t always told me what I want to hear, but they have always considered my opinion and that has been reflected in the things they have produced on my behalf. My case is not over, but they believe in me and have taken my side with the best they have to offer. Their rates are fair, and I have never had the feeling they were fabricating hours as so many law firms do, especially the law firm that is attacking me. I suspect I will have more to add to this review in the future.
