I met Mr Eldridge 30yrs ago at the time he handled 3 cases did excellent job. Recently, I was represented by Wade Eldridge in a court case where I was falsely accused and was facing three years in jail. I felt betrayed scared and small up again such accusations. Wade Not only took my case and helped me through this trying situation. He showed compassion and heartfelt case for me as a person he became my protector. He was there for me in my difficulties like no one else was, and he fought hard to bring me justice and defend my innocence, all through this he rest assured me that he would be there for me and give me his best effort, even though he had many other cases I always felt that I was important to him and he is going to save me as it all turned out he did be protecting me so very well that I was given no jail time at all, and even after the case Was ended he pursuing some injustice he discovered on my behalf. I have a friend who is a retired assistant US attorney who went ahead to head with Wade in federal court, and even though they were on opposite sides, my friend said he had great respect for the way Wade represented his clients if you find yourself in need of a strong man to defend you and your troubles, this person who is free because of his devotion and Care highly recommends that you enlist Wade Eldridge as your champion, he will immerse himself in your case if you are his only one he will fight For you. With all Sincerity , Stephanie Colborg.

Worst attorney to date I’ve actually had the displeasure of speaking to. Extremely dismissive and would not hear the claims to the case. Please avoid by all means you have a better chance of going elsewhere. On the initial call I should’ve avoided the instance you started with oh I’m rude..by choice

I got in a car accident where my car was totalled and my wrist and hand were broken. The other driver was at fault and I knew I needed a lawyer to help with this. I went to see a handful of lawyers about this and it didn’t feel right until I met Wade. Wade took the time to explain the process we would go through in detail. Wade & his paralegal Dawn are absolutely awesome. Dawn is unbelievable at organizing things and requesting what she needs from you. I don’t know how she keeps it all together. I really thank Wade and Dawn and I am very happy with the outcome of my case. I will be referring anyone I know who needs lawyer help to them.

Having never dealt with an Estate issue before, I didn't realize how crucial it would be to have a Firm like Evans Case leading the way. When those in control of our parent's Will had attempted to defy our parent's wishes, Evans Case took measures to see that those attempts were thoroughly defeated, and that my parent's wishes were finally realized, and they did so quickly and affordably. From our family to yours, thank you Evans Case, LLP.

Erika and her team were amazing!! They went above and beyond in every way possible. Erika was always available to answer my questions no matter what time of day it was. She explained the process every step of the way and was a true advocate for my son and I. I knew she always had my back and she made what was possibly one of the most difficult times in my life, as smooth and seamless as possible. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome and it's all because of Erika. She's professional, down to earth, relatable, crazy smart and the best at what she does. She is my knight in shinning armor and I will forever be grateful for everything she did for me!!

In the beginning it felt like this firm truly had my children's best interest at heart. My case played out for over 3 years. After "winning" at trial with further litigation to take place, I was struck with an uneasy feeling. I felt bullied into a settlement as the attorneys were fed up with my case. Many people had told me over the duration of my case that things weren't quite adding up and that my attorney did not seem to have our best interests at heart. I began to reflect on the case and all the inconsistencies, placating to the other side and capitulating to them as well. I then conferred with another attorney and ended up retaining her services to finish out my case. Upon the new attorney's review of my case, she stated this case was a mess, and she was flabbergasted at all the litigation that was allowed to take place. She mentioned there was a much more direct way to have gone about this case, less money and time wasted, not to mention my children's mental and emotional health. My worst feelings had been confirmed. It is a relief to finally have someone on my case who is truly for the children and not the money.

A cesspool of legal malpractice. I watched several parents go through agonizing ordeals despite ORPC being aware (and failing to intervene). Lots of embedded institutional bias, particularly towards Hispanic clients. In my opinion, ORPC needs a leadership change and more judicial scrutiny.

I was trying to get in contact with then for 4 weeks regarding my lawyer and I only got a response after leaving nasty voice-mail on their general mailbox. Once I got in contact with them they fairly quickly reached out to my lawyer and he became response after that so I do appreciate that. But then after I needed to speak with them again I've called 5 times and I'm still awaiting a call back. It's very frustrating.

Just because you have a firm and Cherry Creek address does not mean you know what you’re doing very good example of is this this so called firm. I have so issues issues with this firm, especially Marco the arrogant showoff who never wants to go to court. Marco and he’s very young staff knowing little about law coerce you into hiring other unnecessary companies to finish their case. Marco firm cost my daughter over $50,000. I finally had to fire him. Is it actually nothing for us except fraternize with the other attorney. He’ll probably try to sue me over this review that’s a Marco move

I was going through a very messy and sinister divorce. My ex filed a Petition for Guardianship in Summit County pertaining to my son with Down Syndrome. In the petition my ex claimed that my son had been living with him for the past 2 years , while in fact, my son was living with me in Centennial , Colorado. In the petition my ex had stated he was the "psychological" father. My ex was not his father. nor had he made any attempt to adopt him during the 17 year marriage. I am so fortunate to have had this attorney referred to me. He was referred by another Attorney not a past client. Marco immediately took control of the situation. He is extremely intelligent , results oriented, and aggressively represents his clients. His confidence gave me hope. The haze and smoke generated by my ex never confused Marco. I can not say the same for a most of my other attorneys. I was so fortunate to have had him as an attorney. My ex was evil and Marco protected me and my son from this villain. I wish he could have been my divorce attorney!!I My daughter may have had a chance too. My ex venomously pursued taking both my children for one purpose and that was out of shear hate and revenge. He did get custody of my daughter and at age 16, dumped her in a condo to live by herself. Who knows what would have happened to my son? I count my blessings every day that my son is with me, happy, and safe. Marco was HANDS DOWN THE BEST!

After experiencing being taken advantage of a very prominent law firm here in Denver , we were introduced to the Marco Chayet whom put us at ease within the first meeting with he and staff. I felt we covered more ground in one week then we did in nearly 9 months with our other attorney. We were treated professionally, I never was judged and we were always informed throughout the whole ordeal. Not once did we ever question the service being provided. It is my duty to tell this to others so maybe you do not make the same mistake as we did. Do not be fooled by the fancy suits and the pretty receptionist in thinking that you are in good hands because theres a lot of money hanging around.. My family was vulnerable and as a result were taken advantage of which in turn paid for those fancy suits. Do yourself a favor and go meet a real human being named Marco D Chayet who will do everything in his power to make sure that you are well taken care of. My only regret is that we didn't go to him first. If you read this Marco and staff, Bravo.....Thank you.

The senior associate Katherine Karstetter allows her clients to violate laws and encourages them to file false government reports saying they have a right. Falsifying reports to the FBI, police, making calls to anyone who knows me and scouting USA is not okay trying to get me fired, and trying to stop my advocacy, training and support of disabled, low income, and children is not okay. Shame on you. Glad you defend people who have no defense. It is okay for your client to have my information my family's information our addresses, phone numbers, license plate numbers on sticky notes in her possession. You defend and believe pathological liers who report false felony accusations, who has a personality disorders when you know they are mentally ill. Shame on you. Abusing and neglecting your child is not okay, and continuing to affect children's and others mental health, and physical health with inappropriate interactions is not okay. Your law firm should be about facts and the truth not defending blatant liers and allowing them to stalk and abuse people. But yes you are a shoulder to cry on that obviously does not have the mental capacity or morals to distinguish right from wrong. Shame on you.... You said I court anyone has a right to file complaints so here it is. You are a guardian ad lidium Shame on you, you do not protect anyone.

I would give zero stars if I could. I was supposed to be served with court papers and he emailed me an attachment with an unfinished report without the case number and no court room. I have had the exact same experience as another reviewer. As a Personal Representative I hired Carl to represent myself and the estate. He has repeatedly failed to act timely, gone months without doing anything and does not respond to emails or phone calls from me as his client. It is beyond my understanding, he is has a lot of knowledge but it does no good at all because he clearly doesn't care about representing his client. My advice is to find someone else, after 10 months and a very simple estate not being settled I am going to have to fire him and get a new attorney.

She and her staff failed to keep all of us informed of important actions. They have spent years closing the estate. She outsourced some work to another firm at even more costs. The estate was a "three month to four months tops" issue. They went over two years. Once they got their big payday (we have yet to get ours) they completely ignored and avoided all attempts to move the settlements forward. They left the estate/trust incomplete and became antagonistic when asked about promises made but not delivered. Their billable hours are exorbitant too.

I hired Michael to put together a will and trust several years ago. He assured me his fees to do the work would cover any changes in the future. He specifically mentioned that a change in marital status would be covered. The reason I give him a low rating is that he did not keep his promise. Several years later after getting married, he wanted to charge me full price to modify my will and trust. While I’m unsure if this is industry standard, it is irrelevant as he baited me with the promise of a comprehensive package. He specifically explained that the initial fee was high because it was a one time, lifetime fee. The last thing I want when hiring an estate attorney is to be taken advantage of after I’m essentially “locked in”. I spoke directly to Mr Meurer about this and he said he’d “cut me a deal” for the misunderstanding - which after comparing to other attorneys was more than double what they charged. Very frustrating. Stay away from this operation!

What an Elder Law Lawyer Can Do for You

An elder law lawyer specializes in legal issues that affect older adults, their families, and caregivers. These lawyers handle a broad range of topics, including estate planning, Medicaid and Medicare, long-term care planning, guardianship, elder abuse, and retirement planning. The goal of an elder law lawyer is to protect the rights, finances, and well-being of elderly individuals and to help them plan for future healthcare and financial security.

If you or a loved one is aging and facing challenges related to healthcare, finances, or legal matters, an elder law lawyer can provide essential guidance to protect your rights and interests as you age.

When Should I Hire an Elder Law Lawyer?

Hiring an elder law lawyer can be beneficial in many situations where older adults need help with legal, financial, or healthcare-related decisions. Common reasons to hire an elder law lawyer include:

  • Estate planning: If you want to create or update a will, set up trusts, or ensure that your assets are distributed according to your wishes, an elder law lawyer can help with comprehensive estate planning.
  • Medicaid and Medicare planning: If you need help qualifying for Medicaid to cover long-term care or need advice on navigating Medicare benefits, a lawyer can guide you through the application process and protect your assets.
  • Long-term care planning: If you’re concerned about paying for nursing home care or assisted living, a lawyer can help you create a financial plan and explore options for government assistance.
  • Guardianship or conservatorship: If a family member is unable to make decisions due to age-related cognitive issues, an elder law lawyer can assist in setting up legal guardianship or conservatorship to ensure their care.
  • Elder abuse and exploitation: If you or a loved one is experiencing physical, emotional, or financial abuse, an elder law lawyer can help you take legal action to stop the abuse and recover damages.
  • Retirement planning: Elder law lawyers can assist with planning for retirement, including managing pensions, Social Security, and other retirement income.
  • Special needs planning: If you have a disabled family member who requires special care, an elder law lawyer can help create trusts or other legal arrangements to ensure their long-term financial and healthcare needs are met.

What Does an Elder Law Lawyer Do?

An elder law lawyer provides a wide range of legal services to help older adults and their families navigate the complexities of aging, healthcare, and estate planning. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Drafting wills and trusts: Creating legal documents that outline how an individual’s assets will be distributed after death, ensuring that their wishes are honored.
  • Medicaid and Medicare planning: Helping clients protect their assets while qualifying for government benefits to cover healthcare and long-term care costs.
  • Establishing guardianships: Assisting families in setting up guardianship or conservatorship for loved ones who are unable to make decisions due to mental or physical incapacity.
  • Protecting against elder abuse: Investigating claims of elder abuse or financial exploitation and representing the victim in legal actions to stop the abuse and seek compensation.
  • Planning for long-term care: Developing strategies to cover the costs of nursing homes, assisted living, and other long-term care options without exhausting the elder’s financial resources.
  • Managing probate and estate administration: Guiding families through the probate process to ensure that the decedent’s assets are distributed according to the law and their wishes.
  • Setting up advance directives: Helping clients establish healthcare directives and powers of attorney to ensure their medical and financial decisions are carried out if they become incapacitated.

How Are Elder Law Lawyers Paid?

Elder law lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many elder law lawyers charge by the hour, especially for tasks such as drafting documents, handling legal disputes, or providing ongoing legal advice. Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific tasks, such as drafting a will or setting up a trust, some lawyers charge a flat fee. This can range from $500 to $5,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the estate plan.
  • Retainer: For long-term legal representation, such as managing a trust or handling guardianship matters, a lawyer may charge a retainer, which is an upfront payment that covers future legal work.
  • Contingency fee: In some elder abuse or financial exploitation cases, a lawyer may work on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they recover compensation for the client. This fee is typically a percentage of the settlement or damages awarded.

Be sure to discuss fees with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how you will be billed and what the total cost of services might be.

How Much Does an Elder Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an elder law lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the fee structure. General cost estimates include:

  • Simple estate planning: Drafting basic documents, such as a will or power of attorney, may cost between $500 and $2,000, depending on the complexity of the client’s assets and wishes.
  • Complex estate planning: Setting up more advanced estate plans, such as revocable or irrevocable trusts, Medicaid planning, or special needs trusts, can range from $2,000 to $10,000 or more.
  • Guardianship or conservatorship: Legal fees for setting up guardianship or conservatorship often range from $2,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case and whether disputes arise.
  • Medicaid planning: Legal fees for Medicaid planning can range from $1,500 to $10,000, depending on the level of asset protection needed and the complexity of the individual’s financial situation.

Always ask for an estimate of fees during your initial consultation to ensure you understand how much the legal services will cost.

Top Questions to Ask an Elder Law Lawyer

Before hiring an elder law lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise needed to handle your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with elder law cases?
Make sure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's estate planning, Medicaid applications, or elder abuse claims.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or a retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the best approach for my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your situation and what legal strategies the lawyer recommends.
  4. How long will the process take?
Whether it’s drafting an estate plan or setting up a guardianship, ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to take.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of the case. Make sure you know who will be working on your case directly.
  6. What documents should I bring to the consultation?
Ask the lawyer what documentation or information you should prepare for your consultation, such as medical records, financial statements, or prior legal documents.

How to Check the Credibility of an Elder Law Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable elder law lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Check their bar status: Verify with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for elder law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in elder law and have experience with cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on elder law issues.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications or affiliations with organizations such as the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), which can indicate the lawyer’s dedication to elder law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with an elder law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Existing estate planning documents: If you have a will, trust, or power of attorney in place, bring copies for the lawyer to review.
  • Financial records: Provide details of your assets, including bank accounts, investments, real estate, and retirement accounts, as well as any debts.
  • Medical information: If the case involves guardianship or Medicaid planning, bring relevant medical records that detail the individual's health condition and care needs.
  • Insurance policies: Bring information about health insurance, long-term care insurance, and any other relevant policies.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions you have about your legal needs, the process, and the lawyer’s fees.
  • List of family members or beneficiaries: Prepare a list of the individuals you want to include in your estate plan or who will be affected by the legal process.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your situation more effectively and receive the best legal advice tailored to your needs.
