Divorce is never easy...however I am very thankful for Ms. Suzanne and her team who helped me through the process! Throughout my divorce they were professional and compassionate. Any issues that arose were handled in a timely manner. My calls & emails were always returned. That meant a lot. I would highly recommend Ms. Suzanne to anyone. May God continue to bless you, Matt, and Ms. Sandy.

I've had Suzanne Sabol to represent me twice. In both cases she was right there with me all the way. Both cases were very emotional and she went thru all my ups and downs. I would and have referred her to other people and I wouldn't hesitate to have her there by my side again. Thank you Suzanne. Deborah

Suzanne Sabol handled my rather complicated divorce in a professional and courteous manner. She talked me through all the rough spots and thoroughly explained the process, there were many obstacles and she was so knowledgeable. That was seventeen years ago and when i needed my second divorce two years ago I used her again.

David Abromowitz was the lawyer I hired to help set up my IV Hydration and Vitamin Infusion business. He charged me quadruple what was discussed (quoted me 3.5-5K - charged me over 20K and I paid a final amount of OVER 12k - astronomical amount) and took 3 times as long to complete the job. Three other nurses in my coaching group (NursePreneurs) had similar experiences with him and another nurse, coincidentally, came forward today from a different IV Hydration/Vitamin Infusion business reporting the same story. RNs - be warned! He is dishonest and will overcharge you! I notified the BBB but his response was "I'm sorry she didn't understand". You and I both know the truth, Mr. Abromowitz. You were intentionally dishonest. It's people like you that give lawyers a bad name. All these RNs trusted you, I trusted you. Despite your lawyerly response to this review - you and I know the truth.

Very unprofessional. I paid Jessica $350; all she did was eat her breakfast, and she gave me some paperwork. She was too rude even to answer any questions and never answered my calls after the original consultation . She then claimed to have sent me several emails and demanded that I answer her (her way to get rid of me as a client) to sever her services; at this point, I realized it was best to cut my losses and get a lawyer who cared. Please don't waste your time with this one; she is a high-priced waste of your time.

Cassone Law Offices was contacted in September of 2021 to take on my case involving a house purchase on a land contract. I invested over $30,000 into remodeling the property but, unfortunately, misplaced some receipts and could only find documentation for $21,000. Michael Perry, who was selling me the house, requested pictures of the remodeling. Shockingly, he then used those pictures to sell the house out from under me and my three children. When I initially spoke with an attorney from Cassone Law Offices, they assured me it was an open and shut case. Fast forward three years, and I still haven't received any compensation. The man who scammed me out of my savings has since inherited a considerable amount of money, yet it's a struggle to get any response from Cassone Law Offices or see any progress in my case. It seems that everything went downhill for me when they lost their paralegal, Lisa D. Despite the lack of results, I keep receiving bills from the office claiming I owe money. I only want to recover the money I invested in the house, which was in a blighted condition until I fixed it up. My family and I ended up living in a hotel for a year after the house was sold out from under us. I don't know what to do anymore, and I'm deeply frustrated and upset by the lack of action and communication from Cassone Law Offices.

Horrible lawyer and horrible firm. All they are good for is lying and taking your money will not check their email but will sure send you a bill… I went into their office with a referral for Eimear and asked for Eimear specifically and was pushed off onto this Briana , every time I spoke to her about a subject it was like it was the first time, she really knows how to milk a person for money should have gotten rid of her much sooner but when I went into their office both her and Eimear made big promises that even though I had come to them and was very honest that I was flat broke, I could not afford to pay off my ex to save my house they assured me that they knew ways around it and not to worry, they could take care of it… well I learned with these compulsive liars if its sounds to good to be true it is… Thanks to Briana, I had my boat impounded, will probably loose my dog, have lost priceless possessions and my wife has been in contempt several times and Brianna just acts like its not a big deal and any competent lawyer would have fought for me no matter how much information that I gave her she would do nothing with it. I would speak to other lawyers about her, and they would ask, “What is she doing”? she honestly had the nerve to lecture me about not sending me her a discovery for court that we had spoken on the phone about that I had sent her but she was just too lazy to check her email for I guess it wasn’t a check, so it wasn’t important to her… Please do not hire this firm they are liars and frauds they are only after your money they are never in the office and do not care about your case, I learned this the hard way…

I was being represented in court by Donna Mayor she had done nothing for me in court. She was rude and not willing to listen to a word on my case. She didn't even look at my paperwork or evidence in my favor. It wasn't that I didn't want to pay I just didn't agree with all the fees and being charged 3x my rent amount. I had recieved rental assistance for which my landlord only applied 2 months. He applied the rest to unreasonable charges which was thousands of dollars. I even wanted to represent myself but she discouraged me with her actions and bullying. A man named Chris who works there was trying to find information in regards to my funds from the city and what they were for. she started throwing paper at him and belittling him. Now I have no one to help me. Donna just wanted me to settle so she can go on about her day doing nothing or just as okay with me being evicted. She seemed more representing of my landlord then me. When i explained the behavior to her supervisor it was said she was a good attorney. Talking about accountability. Please if your are desperate don't go to this agency they will make sure your family becomes homeless and humilate you while in the process too. I cannot believe the government funds this agency to ruin lives and collect money.

They hire a contracted company to do their low end filing work. The managment for this contracted company is horrible. They play favorites with certain employees. Relay confidential information to those certain employees that should be kept to management only. Those employees that are shown favortisim will during working hours disturb other employees while they are working by talking about video games and music for 30minutes with each other causing stress and loss of concentration to those other employees. The managment will have those employees move around equipment from desks that is only supposed to be handled by MDK's IT department. The management will also take things from people's desk that they don't like and throw it away causing stress to those employees. Management only cares about the work getting done correctly and could care less about anything that makes certain employees uncomfortable. Alot of these 5 star reviews are from employees that work there. My statement still stands.

She’s biased towards men keeping their wealth … my spouse stole hundreds of thousands of dollars my first attorney lied to the judge and said she sent a document to get forensic and as soon as I called her out she withdrew and there’s zero accountability with this judge! I was the defendant and the rules only applied to me! And she signs off on these bottom feeding attorneys zero accountability ! Then she noted to my 3rd attorney how my x who quit his job 10 days before trial and gave me a lump sum of 20k for alimony after a 27 year marriage … what a joke and he took over 2 million and I got a whopping 57 k and I’ve been a stay home mom for 25 years I make very little and they bankrupted me! The entire case was orchestrated by my stepson attorney who told me exactly how it was going down so this is total corruption!!! She sided with him the entire case … as he pretends to be a victim when he was the abuser! He controlled me with money and she didn’t care! Gave me 7 credit card bills to pay and zero alimony … then made me list my home with a realtor as it was listed with a flat fee company so I lost my home too!!! She is a horrible judge and needs to go!!! Corruption at its finest !!! He even wrote the restraining order to his rules … it’s disgusting ! No justice and total biased! Get rid of her!!!

Jamie L Allen is absolute hack. It's sad that she is now a magistrate with no real field work to prove. What do they say? "Those who can't do, teach." She couldn't do, and then she spent all of her time before becoming a magistrate as an instructor at a community college. Now however, she spends time pulling children from good father's and giving them to abusive mothers. Proven abusive mothers, which is of course blatantly ignored by her. She is disrespectful and disgusting towards anyone in the courtroom she deems as someone who may have bullied her as a child, while she sits behind her desk sweating from obesity and harshly judging men. Jamie L Allen is everything that is wrong with the justice system, and three men alone in Delaware county are actively bringing her decisions and weak willed judgement before the supreme court. Can't wait to see her go down for what she is.

First hired Giffin in late August 2013 for a previoulsy filed tax appeal of certain audit adjustments . He charged me for obtaining tax return transcripts instead of getting my copies. He charged me to review my interest expense which was not an appeals issue. He charged me to research IRC sec. 179 expensing which was not an appeals issue. By mid-October when he was contacted by the Appeals Officer for the hearing he was not propared and had not reviewed the issues. He had to delay the hearing. The appeals officer went on vacation and then was to busy later so hearing delayed vs settled costing added interest. I terminated him on 12/10/13 and he then billed me 7-hours for research and appeal letter drafting, but no draft letter was in his file, no research notes, just 1-court case printout.

I engaged Eric Cole of Manning & Farrell as he was taking over the firm I was going to use. It was an appeal of an SSD denial on behalf of my daughter, who died 6 months before the appeal hearing. As her father, I stood in her stead at the appeal.we prevailed at the heáing, but no thanks to Eric Cole. He was very non-responsive to my calls and emails even today. He handed the case to a brand new attorney just getting start. That could have been OK if he had fulfilled the role of mentor and guide on the side. In conclusion, i've been very disappointed in him. I left message as recently as last week with firm representatines that I was going to post negative reviews giving him a chance to return my calls

I talked to Tom on October 26, 2020 about preparing my trust and filled out all documents needed and took my paper work to his office a week after I spoke with him. I have over the last three months repeatedly emailed him and called his office to see where he is on preparing my trust. Tom won't even respond to my emails and his office gave me no indication of when I can expect my trust to be completed. I am picking up my files today and will talk to another attorney on Monday about preparing my trust.

What an Estate Planning Lawyer Can Do for You

An estate planning lawyer helps individuals plan for the management and distribution of their assets after death or during incapacitation. Their services involve drafting important legal documents, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives. Estate planning attorneys work to ensure that your assets are transferred according to your wishes, minimize tax liabilities, and avoid probate court. They also help clients plan for potential long-term care needs and protect their estate from being diminished by healthcare costs.

By working with an estate planning lawyer, you can have peace of mind knowing that your loved ones will be cared for and that your estate will be managed efficiently and according to your desires.

When Should I Hire an Estate Planning Lawyer?

Hiring an estate planning lawyer is beneficial in many situations, especially when you want to ensure that your assets are handled properly after death. Common reasons to hire an estate planning lawyer include:

  • Drafting a will: If you want to clearly define how your assets will be distributed after death, an attorney can draft a legally sound will.
  • Creating a trust: For those looking to avoid probate or provide for loved ones over time, setting up a trust can help manage the distribution of assets.
  • Planning for incapacity: An estate lawyer can help draft powers of attorney and healthcare directives so that your financial and medical decisions are made by someone you trust if you become incapacitated.
  • Minimizing estate taxes: If your estate is large, a lawyer can help create strategies to reduce or eliminate federal and state estate taxes.
  • Special circumstances: If you have minor children, blended families, or complex assets like businesses, an estate planning lawyer can create tailored solutions.
  • Guardianship or conservatorship: If you want to designate guardians for minor children or ensure proper care for incapacitated adults, an attorney can help.

Hiring an estate planning lawyer is especially important if your estate is complex or if you want to ensure that your wishes are properly followed.

What Does an Estate Planning Lawyer Do?

An estate planning lawyer provides a range of services designed to help you organize your affairs and ensure your estate is managed according to your wishes. They can:

  • Draft wills and trusts: Creating legally binding documents that dictate how your assets will be distributed and managed.
  • Create powers of attorney and healthcare directives: Appointing someone to make financial or medical decisions for you if you become incapacitated.
  • Minimize taxes: Developing strategies to reduce estate taxes, gift taxes, and other financial liabilities for your heirs.
  • Help avoid probate: Structuring your estate plan to avoid probate, which can save time and money for your beneficiaries.
  • Advise on long-term care planning: Helping you plan for potential healthcare needs in the future, including Medicaid planning and protecting assets from being depleted by nursing home costs.
  • Assist with beneficiary designations: Ensuring that life insurance policies, retirement accounts, and other financial instruments are correctly designated.
  • Handle probate and estate administration: If a loved one has passed away, an estate planning lawyer can help guide you through the probate process or act as an executor.

How Are Estate Planning Lawyers Paid?

Estate planning lawyers typically charge for their services in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of your estate and the type of services you need. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many estate planning services, such as drafting a will or trust, are charged on a flat-fee basis. The fee covers all work related to preparing the document.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex planning, such as estate tax strategy or trust administration, lawyers may charge by the hour. Rates vary based on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Retainer: Some lawyers require a retainer for more complex cases, such as ongoing trust management or estate administration. The retainer is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.

It’s important to discuss fees with your lawyer upfront to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does an Estate Planning Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an estate planning lawyer depends on the complexity of your estate and the services you require. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Simple wills or powers of attorney: A straightforward will or power of attorney may cost between $300 and $1,500, depending on your location and the lawyer’s experience.
  • Trust creation: Establishing a trust, such as a living trust or revocable trust, can cost between $1,000 and $3,000 or more, depending on the complexity of your assets and estate planning needs.
  • Comprehensive estate planning packages: Some lawyers offer packages that include wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives, which may range from $2,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on the estate’s complexity.
  • Hourly rates: For ongoing services like estate administration or tax planning, lawyers may charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience.

Always get a clear estimate of costs during your initial consultation to ensure the services fit within your budget.

Top Questions to Ask an Estate Planning Lawyer

Before hiring an estate planning lawyer, it’s important to ask questions to ensure they are the right fit for your needs. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with estate planning?
Ensure the lawyer has substantial experience drafting wills, creating trusts, and handling other estate planning services.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee or by the hour and ask for a detailed estimate of costs.
  3. What strategies do you recommend for my estate?
A good lawyer should be able to explain the best strategies for minimizing taxes, avoiding probate, and ensuring your assets are distributed according to your wishes.
  4. How often should I update my estate plan?
Ask how frequently you should revisit your estate plan, especially if your financial situation or family dynamics change.
  5. Do you offer ongoing support or updates?
Some lawyers provide periodic reviews or updates to ensure your estate plan stays current with changes in your circumstances or the law.
  6. How will you help my beneficiaries if something happens to me?
Ensure the lawyer is willing to guide your heirs through the estate administration process or help manage your trust after you’re gone.

How to Check the Credibility of an Estate Planning Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible estate planning lawyer, follow these steps:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for estate planning certifications: Some lawyers are certified as estate planning specialists, which indicates they have extensive knowledge in this area of law.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews on sites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and client satisfaction.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from previous clients who can speak to their expertise and client service.
  • Check for membership in professional organizations: Lawyers who are members of organizations like the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) or the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) often have a strong reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with an estate planning lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • List of assets and liabilities: Provide a detailed inventory of your assets, including real estate, bank accounts, retirement funds, investments, and personal property, as well as any debts you may have.
  • List of beneficiaries: Be ready to discuss who you want to receive your assets and in what proportions. This includes naming guardians for minor children if applicable.
  • Existing estate documents: Bring copies of any existing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, or other relevant estate planning documents.
  • Questions about your estate goals: Write down your goals, such as avoiding probate, reducing taxes, or setting up charitable donations, so your lawyer can tailor a plan to meet your needs.
  • Information on medical and financial decision-makers: Be prepared to discuss who you want to appoint for healthcare and financial decisions if you become incapacitated.

By being well-prepared, you can ensure a productive consultation and begin building a comprehensive estate plan that meets your needs and protects your loved ones.
