Dawn is easy to communicate with and tolerated kindly my many questions and ideas. I wanted to actually understand the process and feel in control of the situation. I also wanted my 11 year old daughter to feel she had a voice. Dawn listened to us and guided us through the process. She was very prompt in communication, and got down to business while also being friendly and open. I found the billing to be fair with no surprises. I had a cps case and was about to lose my children to the state, the worst feeling I ever had !!! Janeen told me what I needed to do and was HONEST regardless of how blunt she had to be. I loved it, she did not sugar coat anything, she told me how it was. So if you can't take bluntness and accept you're the one that made the mistakes that would be the only reason I would say look elsewhere. BUT if you want your cps case taken care this IS THE WOMAN PERIOD !!!!!!!!! She actually cares about you and your FAMILY. And she was my court appointed lawyer. After the case was dismissed she told me if cps shows up for any reason DO NOT let them in, shut the door and call her immediately and she would take care of MY FAMILY and I. A WONDERFUL WOMEN. This IS THE 1 AND ONLY WOMAN I WOULD RECOMMEND.

James is not only a great attorney, he's also a great counselor. Anything in law that has to do with family is never easy on anyone, but James talked me through it and helped me realize that this is just a painful part of my life, but that I will get through it. Calling Colin McLaughlin to be my lawyer was the best decision I made. I faced a potential felony charge and was completely lost in what could happen. As a veteran family, we used Mr. Werley's services with a child support case. He was inadequately prepared and in my opinion could have been a better orator within the chambers.
Now, we have received a service of him withdrawing due to lack of communication.
After reading this, I asked Mr. Werley to contact me.
With my wife present, he explained that we have no problem communicating, but in order to withdraw council he has to apply that as one of the issues for attorney/client termination.
This appears highly unethical and with all due respect Mr. Werley, you owe this veteran family a complete refund for misrepresenting yourself.
I never leave posts without bringing receipts.

I will start off by saying our case did get resolved, but this was also an easy slam dunk case that shouldn’t have cost this much.
We were trying to terminate the biological mother’s parental rights but she was charged with murder and plead to manslaughter and had been in prison for the last 2.5 years and looking at 8 more years and had not had contact with the 5 year old child for the last 3 years.
I initially was told this could all be resolved for $5k retainer and that’s why we hired Spencer. However, at the docket call the other side wanted to proceed with jury trial which no one expected. They had to scramble to get the case together as they admitted they hadn’t really looked at the case over the last 6 months for trial on a Monday. We were told he needed another 10k to go to trial. Well they prepped for trial (mostly the paralegal) and last minute on Friday right before the trial, the mother signed over her parental rights. 3-4 days of prep and not going to trial blew through $7k of our retainer in addition to the initial $5k we gave them?? We expected something like $5k but $7k? How much more would we have had to pay if we had gone to trial which the they thought would last 2 days?? Definitely look at the prices and sign something in writing before you hire them
The mother and her lawyer stalled and duped us and our lawyer into spending all this money and time for nothing and our lawyer did not anticipate any of this.
The law firm also acted like they were very busy with other cases. They took a few days to a week and sometimes it took a second email for them to respond to anything. I would say not the worst but not the best law firm given our experience. If I could go back I think I would’ve gone with another firm honestly.

Marci went beyond my expectation. She worked diligently (despite the COVID slow down in the courts) and with great compassion, in getting a resolution in my conservatorship of two children. Her hard work in getting the necessary paperwork, including serving the absentee parents, who proved difficult to locate, living separately in two states. Her personal concern for the welfare of the children and obtaining a stable environment for the them to grow up in was wonderful. I will gladly recommend her, and if need be use her again in the future.

I hired Mark , for a divorce it was a costly horrible divorce that because of reconciliation off and on it lasted approximately 6 1/2 yrs .
I payed Mark thousands of dollars over that period of time - divorce can be costly and if you want prime rib and all the fixens then you gotta pay for it .

Mark will tell you … “Shut Up and listen !” When its needed … he will call you ask how you are when you have surg and ask if you need anything?and mean it - He will listen when your discouraged at the same time keep your skin thick because divorce isn’t for the weak .
Yes … I had very heated discussion with him when I didn’t agree - all but once that I remember he was right and I was not quite right . That’s what I was paying him for !
I didn’t need a lot of bedside manner - I wanted to open and maintain a can of Whoop A.. and he did but smooth flowing just enough and he cooled my jets when needed ( often ) .
If I called .. he answered , if I needed to ask a question he answered it - sometimes he told me … “let me work …this is costing you $” ( when I was over managing ) he’d tell me “I got this . “
I used mark to pound the beach with the heavy artillery soft up the enemy and I mean nobody gonna mess with you in or out court house if he’s your atty … seriously !
It’s been yrs now since …. I got the divorce :)
I was going through my phone and saw his number .. texted him and just as when I was paying him thousands $ he answered my text and he’s there if I need .. I’m telling you I’m sold - I’d hire him again - I like him as a person and I like when it comes to him as my atty I could look away and he’s got it . He’s better as a leader / teammate than your opposing counsel so hire him and listen , he’s got it ! just let him work !!!!!

We were in a very challenging spot, taking care of our nephew with major behavioral problems as legal guardians. Doctors advised us to call the state to put our nephew into the state conservatorship so additional facilities would be available to us. When we call, CPS threatened us with legal action, tried to intimidate, and were the opposite of helpful. Greg came through for us in a big way, when we needed it most. He calmed us about how CPS tries to intimidate guardians, advised us on how to prepare for court, and represented us. He was fantastic.

I had previously hired another attorney back in 2016, but due to the uncooperativeness of the other party's attorney and my attorney's own personal demons, my case was dragged out for two years with zero progress. Then, I met Spencer back in April 2018. I explained to him the backstory of my case as it currently stood. My case was not an overly complicated case at all, as I was simply being denied my access for visitation. He made no promises, but did tell me that I did have good merit for a modification of the parent-child relationship, which is what I believed to be the case prior to meeting with him. If I'm not mistaken, the final trial in my case had been reset a total of 4 times over the course of my case before we officially had trial. After all these years, dating back from 2014 - 2022 (8 years), my case was so loaded with evidence, it was actually planned to have trial over the course of 2 days. Luckily, we were able to finish trial in 1 single day. While Spencer does represent both mothers and fathers, Spencer has a real passion for representing fathers and is an advocate for fathers' equal rights, this is one of the reasons I was drawn to hire Spencer. I knew that I did not make a mistake when choosing who I wanted in my corner. For those that think that simply having an attorney is the be-all and end-all, you couldn't be more wrong. You should be on top of your case just as much as your attorney is. Your case is as good as you make it out to be, an attorney can only do so much. I went to trial thinking that my case could go one of two ways. I figured in the best case scenario, I would be awarded 50/50 custody, worst case scenario, nothing would change (which is what is typically expected in the District Court I was in since the judge is traditional and old fashioned - which means "pro-mom"). To my surprise, the judge awarded me primary custody with everything additional that I asked for in my pleadings (effective 04/11/2022). Spencer is a fantastic attorney who actually gets the job done and takes pride in his work! There are many attorneys that practice Family Law, but in my opinion, I wouldn't consider most of them to be good "trial attorneys", whereas Spencer knows all of the ins-and-outs of trial, he knows what evidence should be presented and when, he knows exactly when to make an objection, and he can be extremely persuasive to not only the judge but the opposing party. I never had any issues with communicating with him or his office. I could not have asked for better representation! I know exactly who I will refer people to when a Family Law attorney is needed! I cannot speak any higher of Jeff Branch. He handled my unfortunate divorce for me and made it a smooth, way less stressed ordeal. I had originally hired a different attorney who did what most lawyers do, promise to help you, get your money, then put you on the back burner. After my wife's attorney walked on my attorney a few times with no fight I called and met with Mr. Branch. Let me just say, the tides turned quickly to a point where everything smoothed out and stayed fair. One of the most brutally honest people I know, Jeff always told me the truth and shot me straight. Right from the start with my case, he told me "no one will walk away with everything, but I promise you'll both walk away with what you can live with". He was so right, our divorce was fair and neither side felt cheated. The one thing I will say is Jeff Branch commands respect with his knowledge of the law and his winning attitude. From the moment he took over my case, it was like I had hired a Pit Bull to represent me. He watched over my case with great attention, communicated with me at every step, and literally changed the balance of the divorce from my wife and her attorney taking anything and everything they could to them doing more agreeing to Jeff's terms and submitting to what he told them they could have. His courtroom presence is very professional but very intimidating at the same time, with an air about himself as someone not to be pushed around. I really cannot say enough about how he got me through the most difficult time I've experienced with confidence and a resolution I felt very happy about. He truly cares for every client. When you get dragged into a family law case, I promise you that it is going to be one of the most stressful and devastating times of your life. You will be emotionally drained, financially drained, and mentally drained the entire time you endure your case.
Coming from someone who was dragged into a custody battle, please heed the following advice:
FIND YOURSELF A FAMILY LAW ATTORNEY WHO IS A STRONG LITIGATOR.
You may be tempted to hire your next attorney based off of their firm’s advertisements. I’m sure you have seen the firms that advertise they are the “the father’s rights firm,” or they “exclusively practice family law.” As reassuring as these marketing claims may sound, their extensive knowledge of the law should not be the selling point for you. It needs to be their extensive knowledge of the law AND LITIGATION that convinces you to pull out your wallet and retain them.
There are a lot of family law attorneys who know the law, but they are NOT strong litigators. Trust me because I had to pay for TWO lawyers who fell into this category and I was getting beat up without mercy in court. I literally had a meltdown because I was getting beat up in court so much with one of the other attorneys that I genuinely felt like I was going to lose my child.
I finally got wise, dumped my previous attorney, and hired my next lawyer from Justice Law Firm.
Anyone can know how the rules of a particular game work on paper, but that doesn’t mean that they know how to move and work their opponent on the court.
A LITIGATING attorney knows how the rules work on paper, but more importantly, they know how to move and work your opponent (opposing party) on the court.
You need a strong litigator because the family court is a place where lies abound. Expect everyone to lie about everything and if you have a strong, litigating attorney, he or she is going to easily expose just how much the opposing party is lying.
Had I not retained Justice Law Firm, a boutique family law firm with LITIGATING attorneys, most of the lies that the opposing party was trying to tell would have made into the court room and I could have potentially paid three times as much money fighting in court as I did.
My particular attorney, Marshall Jacobini, is a very strong litigator! In court, Marshall shut down the opposing party’s lies all throughout her testimony and during cross-examination.
His litigation style is structured, calm, collected, and focused, but irritatingly persistent. This litigation style made the opposing party reveal her aggressive, combative, and manipulative nature in front of the judge.
Marshall Jacobini is a very perceptive strategist. He is a lethal combination for the opposing party because of his legal knowledge, litigation style, and his candidness in telling you (his client) the truth about your shortcomings and strengths. He does a great job at communicating with you and framing your expectations in court so you can come out of this war with the least amount of damage and scarring as possible.
He knows how to read a court room and work his legal arguments accordingly to strategically give you the best possible outcome given your particular circumstance.
More impressively, he came in and cleaned up in 3 days what my former attorney from another prestigious law firm in the area had messed up for five months.
He caught a number of errors in my suit that my former attorney had overlooked. The result was that Marshall got my case dismissed.

Jane Fowler handled the final settlements of a will/estate, and was a blast to work with. She brings a sense of common sense to the legal world that all too many lawyers over look. She has personality and passion and understands nothing previously done is ever totally by the book.
When there was a missing clause in the will we were putting thru probate, she found all the undotted I's and uncrossed T's, and was able to fix them (legally of course) before the court could ask why they were not done. In other words, she came to court truly prepared.
When it came to teaching us what needed to be done to make things run smoothly, she was clear and concise, and spent just the amount of time (and our money) telling us what was needed. She didn't simply pad her schedule to increase her billable hours.
In court, She has shown fantastic talent in getting the court to work with her, seeming like she has established a good reputation with the judge as well as their staff (the people who actually make things happen).
Our day in court when smooth, without a hitch, and I credit her for knowing the answers to the questions the judge asked, without ever looking like she was searching for the answer, or surprised by the question.
In short, she is far from the stuffy 'suit' that most lawyers become, or who feel like their doing you a favor to take you money.
