I had been in Oregon for only a short time. By moving here I had already taken a pretty big pay cut which I was adjusting to, then the recession hit and my employer hit me with a salary reduction which amounted to about a third of my pay. I didn't know what to do, I had more money going out than coming in. I didn't have a problem paying my debts but just didn't know how to go about doing it without someone being very unhappy. I contacted Erik about Chapter 13. He was very helpful, put me at ease, answered all my questions, guided me thru the legal process that can be very confusing and nerve racking. It took a while, but I got thru it. I appreciate all the help he gave me and would definitely use him again should the need arise.

Mark helped me on a contested probate. I had already engaged one lawyer in Portland, whose employment I had to terminate due to dishonesty, and fought through an ancillary probate in Las Vegas where I realized that clients/beneficiaries can easily become victims to their attorneys. It was a relief to find Mark, who is straightforward, clear, knowledgeable and honest. I felt at all times that he had my best interest in mind. He helped me to understand my options, make good choices, and was very easy to work with.

Once my husband and I started a family, we realized that we needed to get serious about estate planning. We worked with Mark to put together a Will, an Advance Medical Directive/Healthcare POA, and a General Durable POA. Mark did a great job of explaining why each document type was necessary and walking us through the issues we should consider, including ensuring that our insurance policies matched the directives in our Will.
After we completed our core estate planning objectives, Mark talked us through some additional estate planning strategies we may want to consider moving forward to better protect our assets and make estate management easier (i.e. creation of a family trust); we plan on working with Mark again in the future in this regard.

An official endorsement and my experience with Mr. Meehan, an AAL. His qualities include punctuality, professionalism and thoroughness. His punctuality included responding in less than 8 hours of contact, on a weekend. His "attention to detail" was both relevant & recent. Counsel researched, found and sent ( emailed) relevant case law which provided examples to read and use. Kevin Lucey is an expert with dealing with these hard to deal with insurance companies. Insurance companies would be perfectly happy to offer nothing for someone in a personal injury situation and Kevin navigated and handled the claim in a timely and efficient manner.
I can't imagine having to try and deal with them myself. My gut reaction when I spoke with the claims adjuster was that they were going to try and screw me as best they could. Kevin knows how to deal with insurance companies and I highly recommend him!

Diane has never rushed me or treated me like a number or a dollar figure. She always takes her time to listen to what I have to say, how I feel, then easily helps me with paper work or issues I may have. Dianne has been very helpful in contacting people on my behalf and in getting results I need to process my immigration paper work. She is a joy to work with and is personable. Let me start out stating I was referred to Edward Fu, atty. In August of 2014. I had spent the prior 8 years caring for my very ill mother, while trying to maintain a full-time career, as well as, attempting to prevent myself from racking up a ton of debt in the process. This did not happen, and I was not proud of it. From the first interaction with Edward, I felt at ease. At no point did I feel judged, persuaded or pressured in any way. He provided me with a clear picture of my options (bankruptcy options), and a kind understanding of my situation. I was in no situation to be able to pay for a bankruptcy in full at that time, so I placed a small retainer, and continued to make payments as I could, once I had made all the payments we would proceed. Little did I know, this was the beginning of a professional relationship that would continue in the future. Jan 2015, I had a surgery that came with multiple complications, as well as, an inability to proceed as I had originally anticipated. Edward continued to remain patient, kind, understanding, and never pressuring. He was still willing to work with me, within my abilities.
Fast forward…. To March 22nd, 2018. My family member had passed away, leaving myself, as well as, other family members listed as heirs to his estate. Shortly (within 8 days) of his passing, I was feeling stressed with excessive pressure to get representation, due to the extremely hostile nature of and developing status of the estate. Immediately, my mind went to Edward and our previous interactions. I was now the young age of 30, with no experience dealing with an Estate, Probate, or Inheritance issues, let alone – certain if representation was necessary. To top this off, I was listed as an heir in the company of estranged family. This was the perfect recipe for turbulent waters ahead.
From the moment I reached out to Edward, he provided the most exceptional representation I could have asked for! I’m not positive exactly how may estate cases he had completed prior to mine, but I know this one was a doozie. The hostility from all 3 parties, communications between lawyers, cautious disclosure of information as not to disclose anything that could be used adversely against me, the list goes on….
Edward advocated for me conservatively and cautiously, he wasn’t at all after the financial gain an estate of this nature could promise, he was beyond tactful when addressing issues of a sensitive nature (while still protecting my best interest), and communicated fully with me along the way. Not one issue, item, or situation was addressed or resolved without my knowledge. If Edward didn’t have the answer, he wasn’t afraid to admit this, but would quickly respond with a thorough detailed knowledge of my options, the circumstances, and different scenarios after he had researched the issue of concern.
I cannot explain the level of genuine concern and care he has with his clients. His high level of tact and grace. Compassion and understanding. While maintaining the highest level of professionalism & representation. I have been truly blessed to be guided to Edward Fu in multiple times of stress, frustration, and anxiety. Everything happens for a reason, and I can say I’m thankful they do.

I was going through a very difficult financial period in my life, and had to file bankruptcy-Chapter 7. I was able to get assistance through Legal Aid, and I was extremely fortunate to get Edward as a pro-bono attorney.
He saw my stack of information, and stated, "I thought this one was going to be easy." He later informed me that I was one of the most complex cases that he had worked with and "learned a lot." For that, I greatly respect him and his work ethic. He did NOT put me at the bottom of his priority list, and had incredible perseverence to complete the case successfully. My bankruptcy was discharged without any challenges, and very clean. I could not and would not have attempted this on my own.
Edward IS a busy man, however, if you email or leave a voicemail, he returns your call or email that business day. His efficiency and sense of ethics make him superior in the legal community, and I enjoyed working with him.

We were very pleased with Ms. Smith's review of my father's Estate Planning and Trust documents. She went over them all to make sure they were in line with the current laws, made some changes he asked for, and helped us feel secure, knowing that everything was in order. She only did what was necessary, and didn't charge us to re-write anything we didn't need done. That way we saved both time and money. I would recommend her highly. She can start from scratch to set everything up, or just do what you need, and not overcharge you.

I met with Mr. Vergun for a half hour consultation as a result of a referral by the Oregon State Bar. I spoke with him by phone and emailed ahead of time of my areas of concern regarding a small business I am starting. There was technical statutory research that needed to be done for several questions. When we met, his answers were thorough and specific to my questions; however, he also provided related information that he thought might be helpful, and it was. I felt comfortable with him and confident in his knowledge. I expect to need more legal advice through the next year, and I intend to stay with Mr. Vergun as my counsel.

I have worked with Maite during two incidents that occurred while conducting business in Portland.
1) I foolishly didn't read the fine print and was involved with a horrible contract. I thought I was getting a free promotion through Yellow Pages, but it turned out to be an entirely different company. I felt like I wasn't alone when I hired Maite, and the issue was settled amicably.
2) Another incident occurred involving employment. I felt lost again and fear that someone wouldn't be able to handle the bad news I had to deliver. Consulting with Maite during this ordeal helped ease my mind and in the end the situation was smooth sailing.
Sometimes we need assurance in order to take care of our own business. We're small people, small business owners.
Although I am no longer needing her services for my business, I highly recommend Maite as an attorney for almost all business transactions, whether monetary or personnel.

Through that site Mr. O'Connell offered a half hour free consultation. He called and answered several questions thoroughly and with a respectful demeanor and in a way I can understand. Due to the complexity of my situation ( dealing with a deceitful personal representative and her lawyer) Mr. O'Connell continued to assist and answer questions via email. He went above and beyond to help me even at times being a buffer between me and the personal representative and her attorney. This helped A LOT !
