I was cheated they put words in my mouth that I didn’t say than they made up dates that wasn’t true they double dip it was poor communication I always had to call them I maybe talk to my attorney maybe 3 or 4 times in 3 years I would not ever go back to them be careful and mindful of picking this law firm they couldn’t even show me nothing they lied on me saying I said something and I didn’t my experience was a living hell this second time around than the attorney ask was I mad what you think when you no you been cheated and his assistant be right along with the lies I wish I could give no stars yall please go somewhere else out of 9500 all I got was 838.00 now you do the math it take days for to go in because they had to come up with a plan what law firm you no forget to do anything but they going get they money ever time I think about this I wish nobody will go their I don’t want what happen to me to happen to nobody else

Working with this lawyer was the worst decision I could have made as a father. He was not attentive, he misrepresented my request and ultimately I had to end our contract. Phillip did not appear for the first court date and was late for multiple court dates after. He juggles multiple roles and my case seemed to fall by the waste site once he received my payment. He continued to prolong my case for a year without filing the proper paperwork. This is verified by the court documents. He never did his job as a lawyer and then blamed me as the client, because I wanted exactly what I hired him to do. I would not recommend his services to anyone at all. I plan to take whatever action I can to salvage my court situation.

Mr. Ligh decided to sue my family because we moved to a new home after having a house fire and his clients the Carrington Place Subdivision HOA chose to file suit against us after giving me 6 months to begin project and 18 months to finish and the Hoa pushed Randy Ligh to file suit after 5 months costing my family $3394.00 and this is how their lawyer and my Hoa welcomes new residents to the neighborhood! Pushing on us since we got here and why the heck would they file lawsuit when they gave me 18 for finish project and sue me after 5.🫤🤔we had a house fire for goodness sake and a very bad one losing everything! I’ve begged and begged these people for peace for my family because we have been through a lot our marriage is u set a lot of stress and this extra stress is going to end my marriage and this has absolutely been the case! One of the stipulations nowhere in the handbook is this a violating offense but amongst several unfair practices committed against us here is a few! I am forced to park behind a fence I’m still building because it “detracts” from our neighborhood when two houses next to me have vehicles that have not ran or moved since I’ve been there 1.5yrs and I no longer must park behind setback line it must be behind the fence that if I chop down would not hide my truck and they couldn’t sue me because the fence project would be cancelled not completed! Then I am being told I can not have patio lights above my drive way which is barely seen from the road and before they made me cut 4” off my gate it wasn’t visible from the road and why is everyone else allowed these huge arches on their gates but I found recently one HOA member said well it’s because they regret approving a wood fence and wish they had only approved rod iron bar gates because they want transparency but I’m sorry because they already approved it I bought and built the gates plus screw transparency because they violated even advertised my family on the front page of their newsletter which created a mob literally …like someone came to my house who lived 4 houses away and pulled a knife on me in my front yard when it was just me and my 8&10 yr old daughters there! Plus Hoa architectural board of directors lady came down after I called cops and she came to the rescue of the people who pulled a knife on me saying I cause problems all the time which is a lie because I never leave my house so I don’t cause anything and if I did while not leaving my house then what is so bad really…name one thing that’s a problem I caused and why do they condone the offenders who pulled a knife on me at my house in my yard and about my patio lights here is a pic that since I moved here I have made nothing consistent progress improving the exterior by far and i out every blade of zoysia grass down removed 4 tree and have the most beautiful landscape hundreds types of flowers having now best grass beat gardens and best fence and in this pic I decorated my landscape with lights because I’m a landscaper but you will see my fence that has a hidden tape light behind the 1x4 trim so it cast light down without seeing the light strip itself and behind the fence u can see the lights strung zig zagging across driveway overhead and they don’t allow that to me only and violate me only for these but the second pic is a neighbor a few house down from the president and he/she has the gutters with led lights already installed on them and they keep these gutter lights on that looks like Spanish town parade coming through every single day yr round since they recently got and let me say I do not care about their lights. I like the indifference character each person does and is allowed to decorate their house but if the HOA isn’t fining them in pic 2 but ruthlessly Pursuing me then it’s compiled with rest of evidence that proves them targeting me and I’m still unclear why because we came from a house fire so pic one my house lights over driveway and this was during Christmas 2nd pic free neighbor! so much stress my wife decided divorce when I begged HOA for peace and I lose my family

I've worked in sales and in restaurants most of my young adult life. The most important rule I learned while doing so is that anything sales, anything even if it's an annuity is you're selling yourself. You might offer a service but in order to perform said service you sell your client on the idea of YOU. The ladies at reception don't seem to understand that concept at all, and if I was one of the attorneys who had those ladies as my assistants I would do some serious reevaluation. I've never been spoken to or disrespected the way I was by these women. I would highly recommend usinh any other ANY other litigation attorney.

My close friend, who was my divorce attorney, strongly recommended that I use Marcus for my property settlement because she knew mine would be a complex case and explained to me that Marcus was one of only two people in the state of Louisiana that possessed the skill set that he does. Marcus came highly recommended by several friends and attorneys and I soon found out why.
During the time I utilized his services, he exhibited the utmost professionalism and was knowledgeable of the very complex laws and procedures regarding my ex's retirement funds and investments - as they were different than that of the typical person's. He and his staff have an extensive and impressive background in finance and prepared me for every possible scenario I could have been faced with. He always took his time and explained every step of the process to me so that I could make informed decisions as I proceeded with my property settlement.
I truly hate to see that someone else had a bad review of Marcus and I have to disagree with them as I find it very hard to believe that he was intimidated by anyone. Marcus knows his stuff backwards and forwards and, in my opinion, my ex's attorney was very much intimidated by Marcus and his extensive knowledge of the law. I watched, on several occasions, as he had to actually explain things to the other attorney(s) and was more than well equipped to provide a strong, solid rebuttal to any objections that were brought against our proposed settlement offers or case filings. As a result, my settlement amount was more than I expected to receive and WAY more than my ex was originally willing to pay. I received a good portion of my settlement funds within weeks of my ex agreeing to settle instead of having to wait until he retires. This was after he and his attorney were informed of how much I was truly entitled to; along with Marcus's law based justifications of why I would be awarded all of those funds, and possibly more, if we went to court. In addition to that, I will receive another large lump sum when my ex retires as well. Again, this was MUCH more than the $30,000 my ex wanted to settle for, and wouldn't budge from, prior to me retaining Marcus's services. Marcus also had no qualms with standing up for what I was entitled to. As a matter of fact, I actually instructed Marcus to propose an offer that was less than what I was ultimately entitled to and he encouraged me to reconsider that offer since although it was sizable, it was a good amount lower than my fair share. He was willing to continue fighting so that I got what I was entitled to.
I also have to comment on his remarkably friendly and caring staff. Debbie, Anita, and the entire staff at Marcus Foote's office was so friendly and accommodating and made this very difficult time for me as bearable as possible. They not only took an interest in me as a person and my family, but also made me feel as though they truly cared about my well being and the outcome of my case. They worked with me when I couldn't make it to their office to sign papers within a certain time frame and with payment options so my case progress wasn't held up. Even after my case was settled, they assisted me in the process of receiving my settlement funds so that the process would be expedited. I can't say how much I appreciate their care and concern and can honestly say that they consistently went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that my needs were met and I was comfortable throughout the process.
Without hesitation, I would strongly recommend Marcus Foote and his staff to anyone seeking an attorney. I am overwhelmingly pleased with the outcome of my case and can not say enough how much I appreciate the level of customer service and expertise that was exhibited from the entire staff. Marcus Foote represented me in my divorce. My ex-husband's attorney was a nasty pit-bull, hard-working attorney and she inundated Marcus with papers. Marcus was intimidated by her, in my opinion, and I am the one who suffered because of it. I was entitled to spousal support after almost 25 years of marriage and raising three children. I cannot be more clear . . . under Louisiana law I was ENTITLED TO SPOUSAL SUPPORT - don't know for how long or for what amount - I've been told by four other attorneys that it would have been NO LESS THAN $18,000.00, but probably much more than that.
I also was entitled to half of my ex's retirement account. Again, to be clear, I was ENTITLED TO HALF THE RETIREMENT ACCOUNT under Louisiana law (now or later . . . I would get it). I was an emotional wreck and thought Marcus had my back and my best interest at heart and would take care of me, but believing that was my biggest mistake ever!!! Marcus convinced me to sign a WAIVER OF RIGHTS TO SPOUSAL SUPPORT (he said it was in order to get the retirement account now, rather than later). The thing is, I didn't get the retirement money until after the divorce was final which took almost a year. That's when I would have received it if I had been getting spousal support.
SO WHY DID I HAVE TO GIVE UP SOMETHING TO WHICH I WAS ENTITLED IN ORDER TO RECEIVE SOMETHING TO WHICH I WAS ENTITLED??? I spoke to four different attorneys after firing Marcus and deciding on hiring his replacement. ALL THE OTHER ATTORNEYS, TO WHOM I SPOKE, WERE IN UTTER AMAZEMENT, DISBELIEF, CONFUSION, AND ALL OF THEM SAID THEY COULD NOT IMAGINE "Why he would have done that to me!!! After 25 years and raising 3 kids, I should have been receiving a great deal of spousal support for as long as the law allowed." My ex never paid me a single dime, and I am disabled and unable to work. It was my opinion that Marcus was easily intimidated by, not only the other attorney, but the judge we were assigned to, as well. He seems to be a nice guy, who likes to avoid conflict.
He seems to like to go along to get along, even if it is not in the best interest of his client. I would never recommend him to anyone, nor the senior partner, Bruce Kuehne, who decided to make me pay $1,500.00, instead of a lower amount I might have been able to negotiate because I mentioned that I might try the bar association to work out my differences with Marcus' handling of my case. Bruce Kuehne specifically said I had "threatened" them, so he wouldn't lower the fee I owed them to any less than $1,500.00. So, it was the ultimate slap in the face that I get talked into WAIVING my ENTITLEMENT to spousal support (so I could get retirement sooner than later). I wind up getting retirement WAY LATER , AFTER ALL! And for this misguidance, misconduct, negligence and I would go so far as to say, malpractice, I have to pay the attorneys responsible another $1,500.00. If you are considering hiring them, think long and hard. Interview SEVERAL before giving a retainer to anyone.
Word of mouth referrals are the best ones. Talk to people who have used certain attorneys before and were happy with them. I wish you blessings and luck in your situations. May God look after you and steer you to an attorney who will do right by you! God bless!

I called Brian after my X had taken off with him and I could not find him. As a single mother I told him up-front I can make payments, do any and all foot work that is needed. He gave me a list things that I need to put together. I went home and did just that, i followed his every word on what to do and what no to do. I kept recorded phone calls from my x, kept a notebook with dates, and times as well events that took place. With all that and his hard work putting it all together, my son came home!! I walked out the door with my son that day!! And gained full custody. I could not be more thankful for him and team. The girls at front are just as concerned abut his clients as he is. I never had a problem with anyone there.

Brian did not return my phone calls promptly. He also didn't try to protect my rights as a mother, nor my child's rights. I was the only one that fighting for what was in the best interest of my only child. I would have given him zero stars if I could. I paid him thousands of dollars and only got about $250 worth of service.

Lazy is an understatement. This lady should not be allowed to educate law students. You have to constantly contact her to insist that she files documents in timely matter IF she answers or returns your call. Very costly for absolutely NOTHING. I hired Cynthia Reed to file my divorce as a result of her laziness, my divorce was granted in favor of the defendant because she did not answer his response to MY petition for divorce within the 15 days given by LAW (which she teaches) go figure. Of course all monies were due prior to filing, so things I requested in my petition weren't granted bc I was held in preliminary default. She worked against me, on my dime. She does not answer phone calls or respond to them in a timely manner. You have to call her for everything and she will only keep you in circles. She’s lazy and basically wants you to do everything yourself.

She was utterly unprepared for trial. In addition to her practice she teaches at the SUBR law school. All of our meetings took place here. I should have known when she missed an appointment that she had previously scheduled a d the rescheduled that she wasn't taking my case seriously, but she had agreed to a very cost effective retainer and I already had a trial date set. Although I filed for a custody agreement and made my goals clear, she ultimately didn't seem to be on my side. It felt more so that she was in favor of the mother getting custody that I should be satisfied with anything since I previously had nothing. I would not recommend her to anyone for a family court/father's rights case.

Mr Prejean gave me the impression he would take prompt and necessary action on what was required; he did not. He seemed like he did not care or knew exactly what to do; I had to suggest possible actions. My situation soon worked itself out but it could have been handled much more efficiently and professionally. Each time I called I would have to repeat the information and request for action as was discussed on previous calls. I did not understand at the time he was billing me for each call, so my bill with his firm tripled. I do not recommend using his services.
