Words simply aren’t enough to describe what I’ve earned in life because of this man. His professionalism, human nature, and decorum are just some of his beautiful attributes he brings to the court room. He assessed and directed my entire approach and was spot on with my expected outcome. Through laying out the facts and showing my credibility Ted fought for mw to have joint custody of my son. No tricks, no gimmicks. Just the law, and his excellent reasoning and approach granted me everything I could have asked for. I have a voice and coachable moments now with my son whom I wasn’t able to with prior to finding Ted.

When my husband and I started looking for a home, I asked around to find a lawyer to represent us. I reached out to Evan since my brother-in-law and his wife hired his firm when they purchased their home. Right off the bat, I was impressed with Evan because he was incredibly thorough in answering all of my questions. We hired them to represent us and they did not disappoint. Evan and his team (including his paralegals and Heather Aronson) were always friendly, professional, knowledgeable and prompt when it came to responding to our questions and concerns. We were very happy with their service and definitely recommend them.

We couldn't thank Michael Green, Esq. more for helping us in a very trying and tough situation. He is kind and caring. He made us feel like we were in his protective hands and really worked on making sure that we understood the process - how it all works, and what he was going to do for us to resolve it. Needless to say, we won our case, and couldn't be happier. We would truly and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone that needs a wonderful and very intelligent lawyer who proved that he was the right man for the job.

Gregg is a staunch advocate for the real potential casualties of divorce; the children. When you have a challenging spouse who wants to rupture the thread of the nuclear family, Gregg will fight tirelessly to protect your interests and theirs. I now have sole custody of my children due to the strength and competence of Mr. Rubenstein and Samantha Latif. I will recommend these attorneys without hesitation. Don’t hire beagles when you need mastiffs. Sincerely, Melissa Bentley M.A. retired teacher

I waited for months on writing this review in order to find the words that would do this office justice. I will start by saying that your office exceeded my already high expectations, performance-wise and outcome-wise. You have delivered exceptional results, and I am still amazed with them every day. After interviewing 9 attorneys over 12 months, I went to see Gregg who straightforwardly explained the process and stressed on the fact that my children’s best interest is of more importance to him than all other parties involved. He earned my trust from the beginning. Throughout the process that lasted 11 months, Gregg and Samantha have been attentive to every detail, focused and proactive in every move and extremely diligent. Gregg tried to minimize my expenses in every way possible, worried about my budget more than I myself did, a behavior I have not encountered with any other law firm. Throughout the conflict, Gregg tried to absorb the ups and downs so I can maintain my calm. He used admirable wisdom when making quick decisions, while keeping the balance on when and how to act quickly and when to hold back and use reason. Repeatedly have I been told by legal representatives including court panelists, mediators and other attorneys that I was in great hands. I have not dealt with a more ethical and conscientious firm that maintained this exceptional level of morality and human decency at a very emotional and challenging time in my life. I couldn’t be more grateful. If you are in need of a family law attorney, go to Gregg with your eyes closed.

Gregg was representing me in a divorce case that involved a very difficult husband, many obstacles along the way, three children, sale of the home, and court closed due to pandemic. From the first meeting he truly showed care and interest, not just for me but for everyone involved. The empathy that was present throughout the process made this whole experience less gruesome. Gregg was also on point with his legal advice, always reachable and very straightforward. He will let you know if he thinks you are taking an unreasonable position and that truly saves time in this process. You want to have an attorney that will not waste your time and money feeding into your emotionally charged requests. You want an attorney that knows what he is doing, can avoid the pitfalls of the system, can be trusted and represent you fiercely. Being in a divorce, no matter what reason, puts you in a very vulnerable position. Thankfully Gregg was there for me and if you are finding yourself in the same position there is no doubt in my mind that Gregg is the best choice.

My family and I have known and used Mr Todd Eder’s services for over 25 years. Todd has done an outstanding job from start to finish on three separate real estates closings and personal injury due to a car crash. He was also our probate attorney, and did a fantastic job. His work ethic is above and beyond. Todd always kept us in the light and was easy to reach when ever I had a question, or simply needing an update. Todd is extremely competent and organized. He filed everything in a timely manner. Mr Eder’s fees were very reasonable, especially for the quality of work that he does. Mr Eder is my family attorney and I wish him many more healthy years of good practice. I highly recommend Todd Eder, who I believe is one of the best in the business. He truly cares about each and every client that walks thru his door. Thank you Todd! Sam and family

Thank So Very Much From The Bottom Of My Heart Brian! You are truly a Godsend! Going to court against my ex for domestic violence was scary until You, Brian took on my case. You were so very understanding, professional, caring and thorough. Your attention to the special details of my case gave me the feeling that I really had someone on my side fighting for my best interest. You presented everything in a manner that is honest and covered all the possibilities. You walked me through every step and explained everything to me clearly. I felt EMPOWERED and in control of my situation. You even made sure that my case was handled with my unique situation in mind not like just another client. That meant so much to me, since I was dealing with a sensitive and emotionally painful matter of domestic violence. I highly recommend You Brian Goldenfarb to any woman or man who needs a considerate attorney that even calls you on a Sunday if you have questions! Not all attorneys are created equal and sadly I learned this lesson the hard way. Family law presents many challenges and usually involves children, heartache and decisions resulting in lifelong consequences. Choosing the right attorney makes all the difference in the outcome of your case and unfortunately you usually must make this choice when your life is literally falling apart. My biggest regret will forever be that Samantha wasn’t my initial attorney and did not handle my divorce. However, she did handle my child support and alimony enforcement case and for that I will forever be grateful. Samantha is an outstanding attorney whom I would recommend to anyone. Working with her was an exceptional experience from beginning to end. She was empathetic, knowledgeable, attentive, dedicated and kind. For the first time I felt heard and understood. Not all cases are the same and a true professional takes the time to listen as well as to advise. She took time to explain things, she offered her opinion on decisions I needed to make and she was adaptable. Samantha is a rare find because she has heart and it shines through in everything that she does. By the time I sat in front of Samantha I had already been through a long and difficult divorce plus years of failed attempts at enforcement. I was exhausted and disillusioned with the court system. I was literally in her office against the advice of my family who had encouraged me to give up and move on. I felt alone and helpless. During our first meeting it became clear that Samantha was different from other attorneys. Sure she was a skilled attorney but she understood and valued the importance of her role in her clients’ lives. She understood that cases involving domestic violence have their own unique challenges and she knew how to handle them to best help her client. I was confident that she would work hard to ensure the best outcome for myself and my child. Sadly, experience had taught me that justice doesn’t always prevail but believing that Samantha would do everything that she could to advocate for us was the most I could hope for. She managed to organize the chaos of my case into a concise legal plan all while maintaining a sense of compassion and never letting my emotions get us lost in the weeds. Judges want attorneys to be clear and concise and she has a gift for taking a tremendous amount of information and pairing it down to a few specific and key points. The ongoing trauma that I had endured caused me to suffer more than financial losses and she was a guiding hand throughout the entire process. I eventually had my day in court with Samantha at my side and this time I didn’t tremble or cower. Despite having been to court many times before and my ex husband walking away unscathed and unaccountable each and every time… this day I had hope. Samantha truly impressed me that day in the court room and I saw a side of her that I had never seen before. I was grateful she was on my side. It would prove to be the first time that I walked out of the courthouse with a smile on my face and a friend by my side.

I had to administer the estates of a three-member family who all passed within a short time. I had used the Cosner Law Firm a number of years ago and went to it to help again. The firm, as a whole, did a very good job. The attorney assigned to work with me was outstanding in every sense. It took 2 years to settle all the estates. Without Anne Marie’s help and guidance, along with that of her assistant, Lisa, I could never have reached the end. Anne Marie guided me through three probates, property sale, multiple heirs, family complications and inheritance and tax laws. It would have been an endless task with their help. I can’t say enough good things about the firm. I highly recommend them.

On initial meetings she claimed she would fight for me, but what she did instead was cut deals with my abusive ex-souse’s lawyers (her former colleagues, definitely conflict of interest), and charge me through the nose for the simplest tasks. Her paralegal was rude and dismissive. They both allowed my souse continued free access to my home, where he continued to verbally abuse and harass me even though he was living with his mistress. When I became deathly I’ll with COVID (double pneumonia), she continually sent me messages that were all about his sides’ wishes and pressure for next steps; meanwhile, I was barely able to function. She was going to allow his side to. cheat me out of my rightful share of the marital home after 16 years of marriage and allow no alimony even though I had proof of his infidelity. She treated me like I was a crazy person and like I was the liar, but all in a condescending, phony way. After the trauma of the marriage, she further traumatized me by not having my back and draining my bank account. Worst lawyer experience of my life. I cut her loose just in time for the case to get moving and tackle my needs.

Then JESSICA SUPER WOMAN ARNDT CAME FLYING IN WITH HER LEGAL CAPE!!! My ex's hi powered attorney was stuttering in the presence of her wizardry!!! It was truly a messmorizing experience!!! Within 2 weeks they begged for mediation!!! When your hire Jessica, just listen to her!!! My experience after hiring Larry Kroll was not a very good one. I don’t think Larry actually ever listened to what I actually wanted during my the divorce. After him not advocating for my desires or what would be in my son’s best interest at the ESP, 4 way conference, and economic mediation I finally decided to get another attorney. The other attorney got me double the amount of time with my son, significantly lowered my alimony in both amount and term. I had hired Larry because of the lower price but in the end it cost me a lot more because I had to hire another attorney to do what he was not able to do for me.

I hope people see this review as well as the others on this site before hiring Kaitlin. My time with Kaitlin representing me through a long drawn-out case was a constant struggle for proper communication, timely responses to both me and the court, dealing with her showing up late, and making sure she was doing her "homework" on our case. It is disappointing to say the least because I happen to find Kaitlin to be personable and likable under possibly different circumstances. After having her represent us over two years, I think her main issue is not wanting/being unable to put in the work when it is needed most. She fails to deliver because she avoids, and procrastinates, ...and avoids, and procrastinates because of personal issues. I happen to know it is due to these issues, because during my last and final meeting with her (before her firm let her go) she broke down and cried to me about them. On one hand, I am an empathetic person who was kind enough to hear her through, but on the other hand was outraged that these tears came shortly after I had presented her with a string of documented emails and calls that had been unanswered for two months!! During this period of my trying to contact her, there were time sensitive issues occurring that were being blatantly ignored by her. When finally called out and had no other excuse to turn to, she broke down about her personal life. I'm sorry, but I am not her college professor, therapist, doctor, parent, or friend, and happen to have paid quite a bit of money for her services. I found this to be distasteful and unprofessional. Having to work with Kaitlin added an element of stress I didn't need, as my case alone was stressful enough. Why was I paying to babysit my lawyer? It is my opinion that Kaitlin needs to walk away from this profession, or find a way to consult on legal issues but not actually litigate. While I gave her a low rating on being "knowledgeable" I do think she has the capacity to know the in's and out's of her field, but under her current circumstances she is clouded and unable to perform. Additionally, while this is a pretty tame review considering the amount of stress she has caused me, I must adamantly reiterate that I do NOT recommended her, and honestly wish she had not represented me from the start. I was able to obtain the file she had on my case, and looking back I can see the shortcuts, dishonest practices (not informing me of evidence, etc), and sloppiness she delivered throughout the case. It is such a shame that a seemingly intelligent woman is unable to deliver even the bare-minimum. If you take a look at her resume, she is unable to stay with a firm more than a year, and from what I have heard and read - she has left on poor terms with almost all of her employers. I hope she does everyone a favor, and moves on from representing people in real-need of legal services.

I took the recommendation of a friend and retained Kaitlin Kennedy Keighery. She does not follow through. She did not take the lead and move my case forward. She did not return my phone calls or emails. What she did was waste my precious time. After 2 weeks, I called and they did know I had sent anything. It took them 3 days to locate the large package of information I had sent. I do not know to what extent she reviewed the materials I sent either by mail or email since she never told me or revealed that she had any understanding of the details of my case. What work she did on my case was print out standard forms, have a lower level lawyer fill them in, and file them with the court. She telephoned my husband and had him served. My husband got a lawyer, got himself organized and sent interrogatories to Kaitlin, and then Kaitlin sent him standard interrogatory forms without checking with me. If you are a patient, kind person, do not hire Kaitlin. You are too easy for her to ignore. On the Friday before a Tuesday early settlement panel, she had not contacted me, so I sent her an email reminding her that we had an early settlement panel and asking if we are ready, which she then she rescheduled at the very last minute. I never knew what the plan for my case was. After wasting 10 months in this manner, I retained another lawyer. I like Kaitlin, had looked forward to working with her, and wish her all the best. I will go so far as to agree with another reviewer: I too wonder how she managed to get through law school with the work habits I have seen. Maybe she needs to grow or find her niche, but right now and in my case, she hasn't got what it takes to provide the protections that wives need during a divorce with domestic violence.

What a Family Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A family law lawyer provides legal services related to family relationships, including marriage, divorce, child custody, and adoption. Family lawyers help clients navigate emotionally charged legal issues, providing guidance and representation in disputes that affect spouses, children, and parents. Whether you're going through a divorce, seeking custody of your children, or drafting a prenuptial agreement, a family law lawyer ensures your rights are protected and your interests are represented.

Family law attorneys often handle sensitive matters and offer objective legal advice, helping clients reach fair outcomes either through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

When Should I Hire a Family Law Lawyer?

Hiring a family law lawyer is beneficial in several situations, especially when legal matters involve close personal relationships. Common reasons to hire a family law lawyer include:

  • Divorce or separation: When ending a marriage, a lawyer can help you navigate issues such as division of assets, spousal support, and child custody arrangements.
  • Child custody and visitation disputes: If you and your co-parent can't agree on custody or visitation, a lawyer can represent your interests and work toward a solution that benefits your children.
  • Child support: Whether you’re seeking child support or defending against a claim, a lawyer can help ensure the appropriate amount is calculated and enforced.
  • Prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: A lawyer can help draft or review agreements that protect your assets in case of divorce.
  • Adoption: Family law lawyers guide you through the legal process of adoption, ensuring that all requirements are met.
  • Domestic violence or restraining orders: If you're a victim of domestic violence or being falsely accused, a lawyer can help you obtain or challenge protective orders.
  • Paternity cases: If there are questions about the paternity of a child, a lawyer can help establish or dispute legal fatherhood.

Hiring a lawyer early can prevent issues from escalating, and they can offer you the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome in emotionally charged situations.

What Does a Family Law Lawyer Do?

A family law lawyer provides a wide range of services depending on your specific legal needs. Their responsibilities may include:

  • Advising on legal rights and options: Helping you understand your legal rights regarding divorce, child custody, support, and other family law issues.
  • Filing legal documents: Drafting and filing petitions, motions, and agreements with the court, such as divorce papers, custody agreements, or support orders.
  • Representing clients in court: Arguing your case in front of a judge if a settlement can’t be reached through negotiation or mediation.
  • Mediation and negotiation: Assisting with alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to reach agreements on issues like custody, property division, and support without going to trial.
  • Enforcing court orders: Helping you enforce court orders related to child support, alimony, or custody if the other party fails to comply.
  • Drafting prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: Creating agreements that protect your assets in the event of a divorce.
  • Handling adoption proceedings: Ensuring that the legal process of adoption is followed, from filing paperwork to finalizing the adoption in court.

How Are Family Law Lawyers Paid?

Family law lawyers typically charge clients in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Most family lawyers charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and location. Clients are billed for the time spent working on their case, including consultations, court appearances, and document preparation.
  • Flat fees: For more straightforward legal services, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, some lawyers offer flat-fee arrangements.
  • Retainer fees: In cases that are expected to require significant time and attention, such as contentious custody battles, a lawyer may charge a retainer, which is an upfront payment that covers the initial costs of legal services. The lawyer then bills against the retainer as they work on your case.

The exact cost will depend on the complexity of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure, which should be discussed upfront.

How Much Does a Family Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a family law lawyer varies based on factors such as the lawyer's experience, the location, and the complexity of your case. Here are some general cost guidelines:

  • Hourly rates: Family law lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For simpler cases, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Retainers: For more complex matters, such as contested divorces or custody battles, lawyers may charge a retainer ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 or more. The lawyer will bill against the retainer for the work they do on your case.
  • Additional costs: You may also be responsible for additional costs, such as filing fees, mediation fees, or expert witness fees.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of the lawyer’s fees and any additional expenses during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Family Law Lawyer

Before hiring a family law lawyer, it's important to ask questions to ensure they're the right fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with family law cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's a contested divorce, child custody dispute, or adoption.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or requires a retainer. Ask for an estimate of the total costs involved.
  3. What are the possible outcomes of my case?
An experienced lawyer should be able to give you a general idea of what to expect based on the facts of your case.
  4. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Ask whether the lawyer tends to favor negotiation and mediation or whether they prefer to take cases to court. This can help you determine if their style matches your goals.
  5. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it’s difficult to predict, the lawyer should give you an estimate based on similar cases.
  6. Who will be handling my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may do much of the work, so make sure you understand who will be your main point of contact.

How to Check the Credibility of a Family Law Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable family law lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and is in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on websites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell. Previous clients can give you insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and success in family law cases.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer for references from past clients who can speak to their experience with the lawyer.
  • Review their website or professional profile: Look at the lawyer’s background, case history, and areas of focus to ensure they have substantial experience in family law.
  • Look for professional memberships: Membership in reputable organizations, such as the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), can indicate a lawyer's expertise and dedication to family law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a family law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Relevant documents: Bring any documents related to your case, such as marriage certificates, prenuptial agreements, financial records, custody agreements, or court orders.
  • List of assets and debts: For divorce cases, prepare a detailed list of all assets (e.g., homes, bank accounts, retirement funds) and debts (e.g., mortgages, loans, credit card balances).
  • Details of the family issue: Provide a written summary of the situation, including key dates and facts related to your divorce, custody dispute, or support issue.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes.
  • Your goals: Be prepared to discuss your objectives, such as custody arrangements, property division, or spousal support, so the lawyer understands your priorities.

Being organized and clear about your situation will help the lawyer evaluate your case more effectively and offer the best advice for moving forward.
