Dawn is easy to communicate with and tolerated kindly my many questions and ideas. I wanted to actually understand the process and feel in control of the situation. I also wanted my 11 year old daughter to feel she had a voice. Dawn listened to us and guided us through the process. She was very prompt in communication, and got down to business while also being friendly and open. I found the billing to be fair with no surprises. To this day she respond to my email within hours for follow up questions. Our court case was settled one year ago.

Terrible experience with Sarah particularly. My coparent withheld my ability to see my infant on multiple occasions, Sarah charged me for documentation that didn’t improve or remedy the situation; the coparent was not held accountable whatsoever. The response I received from filing the expensive paperwork Sarah’s firm advised was my coparent filing a false police report saying their vehicle was broken into implicating me for which I had proofs were 100% false (the vehicle was NOT broken into or tampered with and I was nowhere remotely close to area it was located at the time in question). I was required to meet at police stations following that accusation - know what the coparent showed up in?? The undamaged vehicle in question on the DAY FOLLOWING the accusation. (For the record, it’s supposed to be a crime in Texas to file a false police report). Again, none of it mattered when we *never made it to court* — saddled with $25k worth of representation debt (when the standard for family court settlements is ~$11k to my understanding), a hefty child support amount, and ONE day more than a standard possession as a non-custodial parent. I wrote her an angry, frustrated “who do you work for here?” email to which she felt the need to call me personally at 3 am having me tell her I thought she was the perfect person to help me with my situation or she would be resigning my case. Should’ve dropped her then and there. I’m an honorably discharged veteran, a former federal employee, an Eagle Scout, etc. I was up against someone with a an assault record. Continuously told her firm I wanted a 50/50 coparenting agreement and wasn’t trying to skirt child support because I didn’t think it would help my case. Not what was presented at the 2-3 court days we were supposed to have, I took off work for and made special arrangements for but didn’t actually “take.” We never made it to court - ended up in mediation with a RETIRED judge who didn’t read or pay any attention to the facts of the case whatsoever as his blanketed opening statement at mediation was - “I don’t care what the facts are here, I’m not taking any child away from his mother short of something drug related” - a determination based solely based on gender/sex. I did 90% of the talking during mediation; Sarah and her assistant sat there and barely spoke. I’m not an attorney. I didn’t get paid $25k to represent someone. Had no idea what I was doing. Sarah worked with the coparent’s attorney and came up with a 30+ page document that provides more coverage for my co-parent than me and I was billed for it; co-parent walked away from the case on a pro-bono basis. If I mess up, jail time and fines. If the co-parent messes up, there would be hefty court fees for me to enforce anything and then next to 0 repercussions for them. My coparent has been so empowered by how easy it was to walk over me that she has continued to violate the agreement (never missed a day with my son, coparent’s missed a plethora; coparent doesn’t send written updates when our circumstances change, I’ve had to; coparent moved outside the agreed upon living area, repercussions are supposed to be me becoming custodial, NOPE; coparent filed 2 more false police reports since implicating but not naming me to avoid harassment charges, nothing stopping them). If you’re a single father out there for any reason and are looking for help, know upfront no one (courts, attorneys, etc) cares about the dad’s rights or involvement in a child’s life. Since the resolution, I’ve struggled to make ends meet between the debts and my obligations. Think when I’m struggling to this degree that I can afford or would even bother going back to court to have my coparent “held accountable” for the violations?? Steer clear of Sarah’s firm; felt massively overcharged for the minimal support or intervention I received from them.

I had a cps case and was about to lose my children to the state, the worst feeling I ever had !!! Janeen told me what I needed to do and was HONEST regardless of how blunt she had to be. I loved it, she did not sugar coat anything, she told me how it was. So if you can't take bluntness and accept you're the one that made the mistakes that would be the only reason I would say look elsewhere. BUT if you want your cps case taken care this IS THE WOMAN PERIOD !!!!!!!!! She actually cares about you and your FAMILY. And she was my court appointed lawyer. After the case was dismissed she told me if cps shows up for any reason DO NOT let them in, shut the door and call her immediately and she would take care of MY FAMILY and I. A WONDERFUL WOMEN. This IS THE 1 AND ONLY WOMAN I WOULD RECOMMEND.

As a father of a 5-year-old boy, I honestly couldn't ask for better lawyers to represent me in court. Lisa and Kevin normally work with me and they are AMAZING! I made an excellent decision when I chose Ty Stimmons with Varghese Summersett as my attorney. He and his staff— Shantae, Natasha, Kaylon, Katie, and kept me updated on the progress of my cases. The staff guided me through the online process of completing forms and helped me retrieve the information I needed for my cases. I was arrested on an assault charge with bodily injury to a family member. The judge put me on an EPO bond. Once released I returned to the vicinity of my home and noticed someone taking items from it.l confronted that person and arrested a second time for violation of a bond. While I was incarcerated the second time my property was being taken. I hired an attorney that I could not get in touch with nor even show up in court with me or respond to texts or emails. When he did come to court he said I was facing jail time. Not only was I dealing with the agony of my property being taken, now jail was added to my problems. I decided to change direction. Calling Colin McLaughlin to be my lawyer was the best decision I made. I faced a potential felony charge and was completely lost in what could happen. As a veteran family, we used Mr. Werley's services with a child support case. He was inadequately prepared and in my opinion could have been a better orator within the chambers.
Now, we have received a service of him withdrawing due to lack of communication.
After reading this, I asked Mr. Werley to contact me.
With my wife present, he explained that we have no problem communicating, but in order to withdraw council he has to apply that as one of the issues for attorney/client termination.
This appears highly unethical and with all due respect Mr. Werley, you owe this veteran family a complete refund for misrepresenting yourself.
I never leave posts without bringing receipts.

If you ever want to feel like you have to be a lawyer to talk to your lawyer, by all means hire this group. Hannah was quick to reply back when it came to withdrawing representation and got it signed by Judge same day, but didn't even bother to let me know until I looked on e-file and asked.
Any time I asked a question, she seemed irritated and bothered by me. She would pick apart my question and make me feel like i had to be a lawyer just to ask the question right. She would constantly interrupt me, raise her voice and just act like she had no time for me when she was the one who would request we do a phone consult!
She tried to get me to sign a final divorce decree that didn't even address any of the issues I asked (but yet still had to pay for them to write up something I didn't even want and then pay more out of my retainer to get it fixed).
When I would ask, she would take forever to get back to me and then if I emailed weeks later to ask about it, she would either blow me off or act irritated over the phone about it.
The only brightside was I was smart enough to request a copy of my bill (that they weren't sending regular so they could sneak in extra billable hours) and was able to get in writing that that would be refunded to me so she couldn't empty out the whole retainer out of pettiness.
She was not very empathetic at all. I ended up filing pro-se and finishing the rest myself and even editing parts of it even though she tried to sink me by saying I would have to hire a whole new attorney and be out double just to finish the last bit of it.

I will start off by saying our case did get resolved, but this was also an easy slam dunk case that shouldn’t have cost this much.
We were trying to terminate the biological mother’s parental rights but she was charged with murder and plead to manslaughter and had been in prison for the last 2.5 years and looking at 8 more years and had not had contact with the 5 year old child for the last 3 years.
I initially was told this could all be resolved for $5k retainer and that’s why we hired Spencer. However, at the docket call the other side wanted to proceed with jury trial which no one expected. They had to scramble to get the case together as they admitted they hadn’t really looked at the case over the last 6 months for trial on a Monday. We were told he needed another 10k to go to trial. Well they prepped for trial (mostly the paralegal) and last minute on Friday right before the trial, the mother signed over her parental rights. 3-4 days of prep and not going to trial blew through $7k of our retainer in addition to the initial $5k we gave them?? We expected something like $5k but $7k? How much more would we have had to pay if we had gone to trial which the they thought would last 2 days?? Definitely look at the prices and sign something in writing before you hire them
The mother and her lawyer stalled and duped us and our lawyer into spending all this money and time for nothing and our lawyer did not anticipate any of this.
The law firm also acted like they were very busy with other cases. They took a few days to a week and sometimes it took a second email for them to respond to anything. I would say not the worst but not the best law firm given our experience. If I could go back I think I would’ve gone with another firm honestly.

Marci went beyond my expectation. She worked diligently (despite the COVID slow down in the courts) and with great compassion, in getting a resolution in my conservatorship of two children. Her hard work in getting the necessary paperwork, including serving the absentee parents, who proved difficult to locate, living separately in two states. Her personal concern for the welfare of the children and obtaining a stable environment for the them to grow up in was wonderful. I will gladly recommend her, and if need be use her again in the future.

I hired Mark , for a divorce it was a costly horrible divorce that because of reconciliation off and on it lasted approximately 6 1/2 yrs .
I payed Mark thousands of dollars over that period of time - divorce can be costly and if you want prime rib and all the fixens then you gotta pay for it .

Mark will tell you … “Shut Up and listen !” When its needed … he will call you ask how you are when you have surg and ask if you need anything?and mean it - He will listen when your discouraged at the same time keep your skin thick because divorce isn’t for the weak .
Yes … I had very heated discussion with him when I didn’t agree - all but once that I remember he was right and I was not quite right . That’s what I was paying him for !
I didn’t need a lot of bedside manner - I wanted to open and maintain a can of Whoop A.. and he did but smooth flowing just enough and he cooled my jets when needed ( often ) .
If I called .. he answered , if I needed to ask a question he answered it - sometimes he told me … “let me work …this is costing you $” ( when I was over managing ) he’d tell me “I got this . “
I used mark to pound the beach with the heavy artillery soft up the enemy and I mean nobody gonna mess with you in or out court house if he’s your atty … seriously !
It’s been yrs now since …. I got the divorce :)
I was going through my phone and saw his number .. texted him and just as when I was paying him thousands $ he answered my text and he’s there if I need .. I’m telling you I’m sold - I’d hire him again - I like him as a person and I like when it comes to him as my atty I could look away and he’s got it . He’s better as a leader / teammate than your opposing counsel so hire him and listen , he’s got it ! just let him work !!!!!
