Mark was very diligent while fighting my case. Facing six felonies and three misdemeanors the outcome was not looking good. After hiring Mark, I was able to get only seven days in jail to be able to keep my job and participate in a drug court program. I was more than happy with the way he handled my case and would urge anyone with legal trouble to look into hiring him!

In my opinion Chris is a true professional. He has the knowledge and experience to navigate the complex legal and justice system with ease and finesse. My experience has been filled with education, great advice and complete follow through. The legal system is filled with enormous pitfalls and confusion. Chris not only has the experience to overcome these obstacles through his experience, he has the wherewithal to see what is being put on the table, methodically address the issue at hand to negotiate and resolve the issue with a fair and clear resolution. My only regret is; I wish, I would have been introduced years before.

Would highly recommended to anyone dealing with any family or custody issues. I didn’t get the exact outcome I would’ve wished for, but that was to no fault on Brandon Gardner or his office at all. He was professional, logical, and yet still compassionate throughout the whole process. He was realistic and able to bring me back to earth to make logical decisions when emotions were high, which was NEEDED when dealing with the situation I had. I will definitely return, if ever needed. He’s not the kind of lawyer you just get and settle for. He’s one that’s WORTH it, and gets it DONE! Gives some pretty great advice as well! He will definitely fight for you, and isn’t here to mess around, or just take your money. Which is pretty amazing and highly respectable.

The judical misconduct preformed by Brandon Gardner towards me in court was very embarrasing. I dont know of any attorney that will stand infront of a judge and discredit his client because of their civil rights being violated to the extent Brandon states that he was ashamed of me as his client for filing a civil rights law suit against the state and county due to the very case he wants out of representing. I never met Brandon and didnt hire Brandon I hired Karla Tankut who was with his law firm unfortantly Karla resigned from the firm and Brandon took over my case. I was quoted at $5,000 dollar retainer and she didnt think that would even be all used i was on a payment plan until Brandon took over and stated he couldnt accept payments on a fraud case my case isnt even fraud. Brandon then stated he was withdrawing if i couldnt pay $24,000 to go to trial. Brandon never met me, he never spoke to me about my case. Brandon lied under oath by saying he didnt know i filed a lawsuit when karla stated she spoke with Brandon and showed him the violations of my civil rights with Michigan State Police Internal affairs ruling Msp violated policy for my arrest. Karla told me I needed to file with someone else because their firm doesnt handle unlawful arrest like their website states it does , and they dont handle civil suits , but Brandon told the judge he was appauled and very sorry his client took action against the courts over my rights being violated during my case. Nobody deserves to be treated like this. This firm will take your deposite and find reason to drop you. I paid $1000 dollars used only $230 dollars and Brandon says i now owe hin over two grand? Im unsure but id surely hope Brandon realizes his actions could potentially be considered a violation of his duty and misconduct.

Emily Rysberg served as my divorce lawyer several years ago. I am 42 years old and am disabled due to a severe form of multiple sclerosis. I was left without health Insurance and put in a very difficult situation, one where I did not see a very good ending. Emily advocated on my behalf and gave me an ending I did not think was possible. Donna was my second attorney in my years-long divorce and custody battle(s). To this day, I am so incredibly grateful to the friend who recommended Donna to me. Donna is straight-forward in the advice she gives. She'll tell you exactly how it is, and I appreciate that. She is also tireless in her advocacy for you and won't suffer fools lightly. Donna would let my ex spout whatever he had to say, and then calmly cut through the nonsense with a straightforward recitation of the facts and law. She has a calming effect on her clients and isn't afraid to use some dry humor to lighten things up when necessary. The only negative in my mind is that so many of my friends/referrals need a great attorney in Ottawa County, and Donna doesn't practice there.
If you need a highly effective, straight-shooting, fierce advocate on your side in a divorce, custody, parenting time, or other family law situation, I cannot recommend Donna highly enough.

Dennis Shimmell is knowledgeable and fights for his clients with a fierce passion. He offers great advice and is respectful without being fake. He helped me regain custody of my children and increase received child support. I will say that oftentimes judge’s dockets are busy and because of mandatory legal wait times, your case can’t be resolved right away. However, Attorney Shimmell will continue to work on your case and push to get it resolved in a timely manner. He is professional and abides by the legal ethical codes and therefore will not advise the opposing party. In my experience he does work with the opposing counsel well to help reach a fair resolution, if possible. I will always go back to Shimmell Law Offices for any of my legal needs.

Jeff Kortes put some extra work in convincing the assistant DA to get my case dismissed. A few months ago I was charged with felony child abuse in a matter involving my son. I didn’t like the prospect of going to trial, and pleading to a reduced charge would have some bad consequences. I understand that most cases are settled during the 1st court appearance however we had to do some extra work to get a dismissal.
Jeff always replied to my emails the same or next day and I liked that he usually answers his phone, unlike most lawyers. He also asked the judge to modify bond conditions and allow me travel out of state.
Overall Jeff is a very professional, understanding and experienced attorney.

Jeff and his team did a great job managing my case. This was the worst thing to ever happen to me, but he and his staff helped me navigate this troublesome time. They kept me in the loop on what was happening with my case in the court and answered the many questions that I had for them. Mr. Kortes was sensitive to my work schedule and often gave his time for consultation after normal work hours. Communication between him and his office was always prompt. Most of all, he is extremely knowledgeable with these types of cases. After the incident, he asked specific and pointed questions to help improve the outcome. I hired Mr. Kortes in August 2015 to represent my son, a college student, for a probation violation for 2 misdemeanors from 2014. My son organizationally challenged, absent minded and struggles with attention (all diagnosed), and missed a recent probation appointment. As this was not his first, he was facing jail time for the remainder of his probation.
Knowing that my son was truly trying to get his life in order, we wanted representation for a probation violation (PV) hearing, which I believe is not the norm. My son’s original lawyer was not available. Mr. Kortes, with the assistance of his partner, Jerry Lykins, stepped up to bat the day before the hearing. Mr. Kortes was able to successfully represent my son by highlighting the progress he has made in the last 6 months, his diagnosed condition and the support system in place to help him stay on right track. The hard work is now up to my son to comply with all aspects of his probation before another review next year. Mr. Kortes paved the way to an outcome that I am told was truly unprecedented.

Amanda did an excellent job defending me against a bogus domestic violence charge, which I stood my ground on and refused to plead to. She singlehandedly debunked the testimony of 4 witnesses and brought out the truth of the case in front of a jury. Yes this case went all the way to a jury trial that lasted 12 hours, and thanks to her confidence and determination, I was rendered a verdict of not guilty.

I have never experienced more prompt, professional and caring legal help than I did with Catherine Sullivan. My case was a change of domicile. I received a great career offer that I didn’t want to turn down but unfortunately my child’s father was not on board with my decision. So I called 7 different attorneys even attorneys that I used in the past. Every lawyer I spoke to asked for a retainer fee upfront without even hearing my case out. But not James we talked on the phone for one hour he never even mentioned a retainer fee I had to ask that question.
