I am most fortunate to find a wonderful, compassionate and experienced attorney as Shari Anhalt !
Although my case should have been simple, the other parties attorney deployed several unorthodox methods.These included submitting complex case law that did not apply, property liens, a subpoena, continuances, and requesting a new judge.
Shari stood steadfast during these events, researched case law, advised me and fired back with legitimate issues during these frustrating times.
After eight months, I get a call from the ex. She said “You have a very good attorney”. I said “I know”. At that point, she agreed to withdrawal all claims and pay my fees.
Thanks to Shari, Minh and Samar, I can now move on with life in retirement. Shari conducts business very thoroughly, and with ease and efficiency. I am more than pleased with the results she achieved! My highest recommendation!

My experience with Shari and the entire team was GREAT! My dad only speaks Spanish and we were desperate for a lawyer. The first meting we had with her my dad knew she was the one. She explained everything to me and I translated. My dad always had questions that Shari always had an answer to. The language barrier was never a problem because she knew what my dad wanted. I worked with Agata from 2019 to 2021 as she helped with my family law case.
She is a good person who means well. When we spoke on the phone, she always took the necessary time to explain her professional opinion and the possible view from the court's perspective. She exemplified caring about my situation and I believe that Agata provided me with her best advice for the situation. Where she really shines is litigation. On the occasions we went to court, she definitely threw the gloves on and fought for the case.
Unfortunately, no attorney is perfect. There were some shortfalls within my experience:
1. Administrative - To my knowledge, there was no paralegal employed in the office. There are a lot of moving parts to each case and I felt Agata was a little over her head. The time it took to get a problem resolved took longer than expected due to this. There was an instance where Agata followed up with the opposing party, only for everyone to realize she had not even sent the e-mail for the opposing party to actually respond to.
2. Communication - For the most part, Agata replied within 24 hours when I would leave a voicemail. However, there were numerous occasions where I did not hear back for days. While completely understandable that personal issues may arise, the lack of communication was noted as a considerable weakness, especially when clients and opposing parties are waiting on hearing back from your lawyer to move forward. I wasn't notified all the time if she received my emails. If she replied that she would do something by a certain date, a lot of the time the deadline was not met. I had to follow up with Agata on multiple occasions to get an update on my case, so it was difficult to know if anything had been done. It came to a point where I had to state that I was not paying for follow up emails. COVID aside, my case dragged on partly due to this factor.
3. Limited Proactiveness - While Agata was proactive in fighting for me during litigation, she was not as strong in being proactive with solutions outside the courtroom. As with any family law case, it's a stressful and arduous experience for everyone. A good lawyer makes you feel like someone has your back through this tough time. Unfortunately, this was not the case in my opinion and how I felt overall.
Agata is a kind person who means well. If you're looking for someone with a strong litigation background and think you may go to court, Agata may be a good fit. If you have expectations for strong communication and exceptional administrative qualities, keep interviewing lawyers.

Agata represented me on a post-judgment support issue. She was very caring and responsive and I felt supported throughout the entire process. She helped to calm my anxiety and prepared me well for the hearing. I was very happy with the results. She even got the attorney fees paid by the other side! I highly recommend her and her firm!

I had a sensitive conservatorship case with opposition from family members. I chose Tom because he is well informed on probate law and kept the focus on the end goal, which was the care of my loved one. He worked well with the opposing attorney and court appointed counsel. Definitely a learning experience. I will be shopping around next time and making sure that I use my own health insurance so that I actually get all/most of my settlement and not 20% of it over a year later after calling periodically to remind them that I'm a client.😒 Their motto should be "Something's better than nothing".
Update in response to comment:
You are absolutely correct that sometimes there are unrealistic expectations, especially considering the fact that this was the first time I had gone through an accident. However, that does not excuse the lack of communication and the fact that had I not called periodically over the year there would not have been any movement on my case. Not to mention the fact that had I not called to follow up, I would not have received my check because according to your agent, one of your staff dropped my check underneath their seat and wasn't aware of it. So it never got mailed until I called and inquired where my money was. Like I said, it was a learning experience and hopefully you take into account what I've said when dealing with future clients.

I found Kyle through multiple moms’ recommendations in local Facebook mom group and I’m so glad I chose him as counsel for my custody/visitation case. I just wished I had found him before I started all this and would’ve saved a lot of time/money/suffering. But alas here we are.
Kyle is very straight forward and wastes no time. So don’t be put off by his seemingly rushed demeanor when you first get in contact with him. He truly cares about people (not just his clients) and he sees through people’s b.s.
He explained the process along the way and gave clear instructions on what to do leading up to the hearing. Kyle was upfront about possible outcomes. In my case, after just one court hearing with Kyle by my side, I was able to get everything I’d asked for. Highly recommend.

They literally switched lawyers on me 3x in my child support hearing and in the process ran my tab up to have me where i now owe them and by the time my court case arrived i had nothing left in the account and they wanted more money in order to appear. I literally accomplished absolutely nothing with this lawfirm and ended up having to represent myself on the court day because they bled every dime plus out of the 3500 i gave them on everything other than getting the job done. Dont waist your money!

The worst decision I ever made was to hire Ann Oakleaf for my divorce, modification of spousal support. She is incompetent and lacks integrity.
Initiated “very busy activity” - in asking numerous times to submit and sign the same documents. She tried to prolong our phone, office conversations and charged me for every minute.
She had no goal and strategy to help me. I forced to cancel her service because she offered the worst option compared to my former spouse’s lawyer. I felt she was not supportive of me. I had to hire another attorney.
Do not hire this attorney if you want to be successful in court. She is very “burnt out” and wants to retire and should!
You would be better off using the Self-help desk at Family court.

I first consulted with Ann expecting to hire her for a child custody case. After discussing the specifics of the case she was very honest in letting me know that the situation was not complex and didn't necessarily have to result in court appearances. She guided me on the process of mediation and my ex and I were able to come to an agreement on the custody terms.
With her help, the process was much less stressful than I had anticipated.

Even tho I paid nothing, I still feel like I spent 30 mins so Mr. Sanchez could talk over me, tell me "I red-flagged myself" just because my previous attornies werent able to negotiate out of an issue & it just burnt up legal fees. I suppose Im "red-flagged" because the opposition law firm has 10 attornies able to devote to maneuvering.
And all I needed from Mr. Sanchez was to review an agreement before I sign. Luckily, there's other attornies that can handle this 1 hr 'intensive' task.
Im glad the initial consultation is free. Thank god for that.

I hired her because she had the right ideas but she never did anything. I came in to her office multiple times and she never did anything. I also talked with her over the phone and she never took action in my case. I changed lawyers and my new lawyer took action of my case and closed it in 6 months!

She helped my ex husband take my children from me and deny me hundreds of thousands of dollars I was entitled to because I was supposedly “on drugs” which were antidepressants but they made me “crazy”. The truth is I had no lawyer and was misdiagnosed by said ex husband as bipolar and was on many meds I never should have been on for nearly 2 decades. I am now off all meds (minus a mild prescription allergy med that is stronger than OTCs but doesn’t make me drowsy.) except maybe an occasional Aleve for neck and spinal arthritis. I am owed well over $150,000 that she managed to manipulate me out of. Now I find out she’s DISBARRED!?!? My ex has had a talent of finding exceptional women. I admit I wasn’t a gem. But Guerin??? And his current wife??? Either one are way worse than I ever was. He has always had a nose for crazy b*******.

I hired Karen last year desperate to find help to file for custody and to divorce, I paid her upfront and she showed up once to court once, then called me she had personal issues with her husband so she stopped working on the case but that she would presume, its almost been a year and I have not heard from her, I got a letter in the mail that I have to appear in court because my case is not moving forward, I would of appreciated if she could of at least notified me that she wasn't going to work on my case so I could of initially hired another attorney. damage is done and she was paid in full, and yet i'm left with no divorce, and a hole in my wallet, very disappointing when you need the help and they fail to do their jobs.

I paid her up front for the majority of the fees. In November for a very simple name change. As of today nothing has been done at all and to spite numerous weekly phone calls for the last six weeks there has been no response or communication of any kind. I cannot tell you how frustrating this experience has been. I am looking into another attorney.

For starters, she was always weeks late with drafts of our divorce settlement agreement. One of her drafts included the names of someone else’s children! My now ex-husband should have been paid because he did the research and corrections to her extremely shoddy work. I found our later that she did not represent my interests and I lost thousands and thousands of dollars due to her inability to realize that one of my two lucrative jobs has varying levels of income. Would I recommend this lawyer?? Never. I would never recommend this lawyer, ever. Unless you are a masochist prepared to lose your case while expending ridiculous amounts of money in padded fees, to an over rated attorney. I spent THOUSANDS of dollars to have this attorney turn my case upside down. Literally. Unless you work well with attorney' who are cold as ice & appear to have no compassion for her clients. Nothing like the Carolyn, attorney I interviewed. It was evident she operated from the school of; Clients will pay what you project your image & worth to be. Even false image & worth. I've read former client' reviews not only on this attorney , but Jarvis Krieger & Sullivan on other social media sites, (Yelp, Superpages.com/lbp, AVVO & various legal forums). It's important for potential clients to have this open forum to review when researching as they have the right to know. I felt validated after reading this attorney's & firms' negative reviews especially my exact suspicions and issues. I recall questioning this firm's negative reviews during my consultation meeting only to receive a well prepared and thought out response blaming the client who posted their review and not to pay much attention.
Throughout retaining this attorney, there were EXCESSIVE fees billing even billing fees that were questioned if work had even been performed. This attorney's demeanor & perception was that of someone who is burned out longing to retire soon. This attorney was shockingly unprofessional in how she conducted business and treated me, forgetting I was the client even AFTER signing her retainer & forking out way, way too much money. This attorney used the same consistent tactic the firm she works for; Jarvis Krieger & Sullivan's; asking you for double digit thousands dollars to pay "in addition" to the thousands already paid, towards your retainer fees, otherwise, they will threaten and often follow through on withdrawing from your case, leaving you abandoned without any remorse. There are other client written negative reviews on Jarvis Krieger & Sullivan for this same complaint along with the same threats they all received. One of Ms. Martin's clients negative reviews wrote; "Carolyn' peers had warned her Carolyn was steering her on a suicide mission. " This is the exact experience I encountered with this attorney. Majority of my calls as sporadic as they were completely ignored. I was kept in suspense on case matters especially conversations she billed me for with opposing counsel', to the point I was never briefed. On smaller matters, she would debrief you at the very last moment. This attorney's feedback, responses & advice was vague to say the least. I was never updated at ALL activities and matters & shamed me for asking. I often wondered; which side of my case is this women on?! Mine or opposing?! Why am I paying this women thousands of dollars within a brief period of time, when neglect, & irreversible damages are being made to my case by my own attorney?! The partners of Jarvis, Krieger & Sullivan seem unconnected & could care less what the client' satisfaction level was towards their attorneys or staff members. If disputes are brought up, you were mocked against by internal staff members & other attorneys. For me, the wool was pulled over my eyes once they figured out how green I was to the whole legal process. I was billed excessively for lack of actions, work and results, which have major impacted my future and they honestly will defend themselves and try to make you feel like you're the problem. We pay too much money and trust these attorneys to represent and fight for our best interests and what is right. Gary Beeks did not complete the title transfer for the property that was to be included in my grandmothers trust. This only came up after her passing and when I attempted to contact him, no response. It cost me in the area of $3,000 for a Heggstad petition after the fact in order to have the property added the trust.
Do those who will be managing your estate a favor - avoid this guy and get a good lawyer. It's worth it to ensure that your family doesn't have to face the same frustrating, expensive and time consuming headaches that mine has.
