Searching for a trustworthy lawyer is painstaking because who would want to waste their money on an unreliable lawyer with no credibility? Hiring Dr. Calev was the best decision I made concerning my immigration issues. He and his assistant Pepe were very professional and easy to work with. They were very proactive in preparing me for everything--they would call me for updates even before I could call them. They treated me like I was their most important client, for a fee that's more than reasonable. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. I got my greencard before the anniversary of my filing.
I'm happy that my friend recommended Pepe to me, and I'd more than glad to recommend them to others.

I had been separated from my wife for over 5 years, 2 of them trying to get her to sign Uncontested divorce papers. I left her the house and everything in it + I leased her a new car and more. One of her clients happened to be a divorce Attorney and decided to take her on Pro bono, now she wanted all sorts of things never mentioned before, I had only 1 stipulation on the paper work, that she is 100% responsible for any money owed at end of car lease, that's was it but her Attorney insisted that she not be.. I would not agree and she would not sign, we could have signed the paper work that I paid a paralegal firm to prepare, I even went to the courts and paid for the Index #, everything was done, we only needed notarized signatures and we would be divorced, No Attorneys needed but NOPE, almost 3 years later NO divorce. We were at a total standstill for a year and then I was speaking with a customer of mine and I asked what he did for a living? He answered Im an Attorney, immediately I said can I ask for some advice? He said ofcourse...... LONG STORY SHORT- I retained Benjamin Calev as my Attorney to represent me in my divorce, He said Mike all you need is to give me my retainer and I will take care of everything, you just get me any information I ask for and I will have you divorced in *6 months*- *MUSIC TO MY EARS*...( Might I ad his retainer was INCREDIBLY reasonable, and the total cost when all done? Let's just say he loves what he does and he is not all about the money... I could have easily been charged triple or quadruple what he charged me, I actually had another Attorney quote me triple). Today is January 4th 2021, Benjamin text me on December 23, 2020 Congrats your divorced, My favorite Christmas present I could have received which was just about 7 months later, not the 6 months that he said but not his fault, the papers were signed and in the courts 2 months ago waiting for the Judge to sign them. So my last words are if you have a legal issue or a unfortunate situation of any type call Benjamin Calev, he is caring, sincere, honest, hard working and a PIT BULL when needed, you would never know it when you meet him or get to know him but TRUST ME - (PIT BULL).... HE GETS THE JOB DONE....

Ben -was a blessing in disguise I was fighting some very serious criminal charges however, from day one Ben advised me we will get through this with a not guilty verdict. I got married in July 2013. Soon after, my husband and I we were looking for a good lawyer to represent us for our immigration case since I came to this country with a C1 visa many years ago and I overstayed. Many years had to past for me to finally start fixing my immigration status: marriage equality was finally legal across the United States and the Obama administration installed a mandate to pardon immigrants in the U.S territory instead of going back to their countries to wait for a pardon.
I remember very clearly our first appointment with Ms. Cano, and I remember mostly because she was very friendly, the staff was very friendly, and she exposed to me what steps I must follow to get my papers in order, and get my resident card. She was very clear, very organized, and she speaks fluent Spanish and English.
First, we started the family petition. Once that was confirmed, we follow with the “extreme hardship” waiver, and finally with the interview that was going to be made in my country. After long months of hard work from both parties, we got the waiver approved and soon after we had the date for the interview. Now looking back it seems very simple, and it kind of is because the professionalism of Ms. Cano’s office made everything run very smoothly. They would call me every time I needed to bring something to the office or if they send me some documents to my residence. They would email me or be in contact all the time through the entire case. They would also give me copies of all documentation; hard copy, electronic copies, etc. In short, they were on top of my case throughout my immigration case.
When I finally got my residence, we convened again 2 years after that to start the process for my permanent resident. Thanks to the amount of evidence Ms. Cano ask me for and the efficiency of her office, I can finally say I am a permanent resident of the United States. I can say, very confidently, that I recommend 100% Ms. Cano’s services for any immigration issues you may have. Every case is different and for some is long and tedious, but you can have the certainty that they are working for you in a professional manner.

Ms. Cano was very thorough in absolutely every aspect of the case. She made me and my family extremely comfortable throughout the entire process. Our process took about 3 years but there was always contact and updates. We were never left in the dark and all options, whether good or bad, were explained so that there were no surprises. Before I met Ben, I had a horrible experience with a lawyer/firm who I thought had excellent credentials. I did my homework by researching its beautiful website, nice office with coffee in Long Island, NY, etc., but to my surprise they were the worst service I have ever experienced (and I am in Sales/ Customer Service).
They never picked up the phone, never replied to my emails and when I had someone one on the phone, I had to go over my case again and again. They overcharged me without having any court hearings and no advancements for almost 1 year in my divorce case, the second lawyer from the firm was worse than the first one.
As a result, I decided to drop this firm and did not want them to represent me any longer.
At the time my ex was harassing me, the courts were an unknown process for me, and the judges were unpleasant to deal with. It was a very stressful time.
I found Ben through a friend’s reference, she said he ended complicated cases successfully.
My ex was making everything expensive by stalling the process in any way he could, he had the money to play with because he was not paying child support.
In a one-hour meeting with Ben, he did more than the other firm did in the one year they had represented me:
• He quickly understood my case;
• All assets involved
• Custody of my daughter
• Child support
• He was realistic, not raising my expectations that we could end the divorce too quickly.
Finally, Ben had a strategy that gave me a couple of options to deal with my ex’s unpredictable behavior.
He made me feel confident he was taking care of my case, not like the other lawyers that did not even know my name after thousands of dollars wasted.
He strategically got my ex in court by filing 2 motions.
The result is my ex, after trying to escape his responsibility, settled the divorce case by signing the papers.
I recommend Ben’s services because it is hard to find a lawyer that is considerate of your situation and really cares.

Absolutely HORRID / UNPROFESSIONAL experience with Brandon. He had left me a voice message to return his call as they had received my contact info from another firm which I submitted to an inquiry to for a legal case online. I returned Brandon's phone call the very next morning and he began berating me on the phone as to why I didn't answer his call when he called and why I didn't call him back right away. I said are you serious right now? It was one of the most unprofessional interactions I have ever had with a company in which I was a potential client for in my life. He kept going on that I didn't answer his phone call and I didn't call him back right away. This "lawyer" is unhinged and off his rocker thinking he can treat / speak to people in this manner.
I returned the call the next morning well before what is customary in business of 24 hours, even so, I AM THE POTENTIAL CLIENT!! He then questioned me demanding an answer as to why I didn't pick up his call or return his call the second he called. IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS WHY I DIDN'T ANSWER AN UNKNOWN PHONE NUMBER OR WHY I RETURNED YOUR VOICE MESSAGE THE NEXT BUSINESS MORNING!!! I was dealing with my stomach disease being in bed all afternoon in excruciating pain after leaving my job. THAT IS WHY I DIDN'T ANSWER ANYONE'S CALL YESTERDAY AFTERNOON YOU INCONSIDERATE (I want to write an explicative term but I am more professional than that). ESPECIALLY AN UNKNOWN NUMBER!!!
I was dumbstruck in shock of this actually happening. If you can imagine being questioned by a stalker ex-girlfriend / boyfriend, this was it.
If I yelled at my customers in my own profession for not immediately answering my calls or calling me back immediately, not only would I have no customers, I would be out of my profession! I then said well I don't want to work with your office if this is how you treat clients and before I could finish my sentence he hung up on me.
How dare you speak to me like that berating me when I am the one has been dealing with traumatic event in my life which has caused a cascade effect in my overall health. This is one of the most preposterous situations I have ever encountered. This office is terrible for allowing this type of culture in their company. Stay away from this place. There are endless law firms out there. Just google another one so you don't have to experience this insanity.

Let's face facts...No matter what type of relationship you have with your spouse (good, bad, ugly), going through a divorce is a very painful process (especially in NY). Kara represented me (I'm a man) and was incredibly professional and helped me understand the process which unfortunately, is not easy and does not favor those who are getting a divorce (the NY courts are a mess). There are many emotions, questions and decisions (especially if you have kids), but Kara has the ability to walk you through various scenarios and help you get comfortable with what life will look like once you are officially divorced. As a caregiver for many years of a family member who had Parkinson's disease, our Licensed Clinical Social Worker at our hospital Neurology Department presented me with three names of eldercare law firms as my family member's health was declining.

I was contacted by Marisel when I paid for a 15 minute advice session on Avvo. My wife and I were in the middle of a family based immigration petition when the lawyer that we had hired basically forgot about our case, causing a delay of 2-3 months. We had continued the process ourselves, but that left me feeling a little nervous and with some questions. Marisel was kind, patient and well-informed. She was good at assessing our situation and gave me level-headed advice. She did not exaggerate or create scary scenarios. The best decision I made was hiring Cannon Kearney to represent my fiance with his child support case. Every attorneys office I called prior to him wanted a consultation fee without even hearing the situation or our needs. Cannon was the first one to not mention a fee and listen to what we had going on first which completely won my business. All I needed was someone to listen and he did just that. I had an extremely negative experience with this law firm and would not recommend their services to anyone. If I could give them 0 stars I would do so.
I had my initial consultation with David which lasted only a few minutes. I had some questions about my situation, but he told me he does not work for free and he did not give me any further advice until I signed a retainer agreement. A few days later I received a text from a paralegal asking if I was still interested in their services and to pay a $2,500 retainer. The amount was a surprise to me because David had said that the retainer would be $1,000 during our initial consultation. The invoice they sent me for the retainer was also marked "Past Due" even though it was sent to me before I ever signed a retainer agreement. I believe they did this to get me to pay as soon as possible. After some back and forth with their paralegal over text, I paid $1,000 so that the firm could draft a letter to my landlord.
The paralegal then told me to send important documents that I had to the firm. I asked them what documents I should send but never got a response, which is ridiculous because they are supposed to be advising me as to what is important. After hearing nothing I decided to send them a small amount of documents showing I lived at the apartment like cable bills. I followed up with them, and they told me the letter would be ready by 5pm on a Monday. They missed that deadline without giving me any explanation and despite my multiple texts asking them for an update. And while they were very quick to respond to my messages when it came to paying their retainer, it took them several days to get back to me about the status of my letter.
Based on this, I told them I no longer wanted them to represent me and asked that they refund me. They sent me a receipt showing that I was only refunded $160 out of my $1,000 retainer, and without any explanation of the work they did. I wrote to the firm the next day requesting a full refund. David called me but mostly talked down to me instead of listening to my concerns and said things like "well you signed the retainer agreement." The firm then sent me a timesheet showing about 2.5 hours of work.
According to that time sheet, it took them 1 hour to review the documents I sent (which were just my cable bills and a certificate). They also apparently billed me 1 hour for drafting the letter, which I never received. They also refused to give me a copy of the letter until I said I would be filing a complaint. The letter that it apparently took them an hour to draft was a couple of sentences that I could have done myself. It's unbelievable that this letter reflects two hours of attorney work.
They also billed me for almost half an hour for texts I had with their office at their attorney rates. It was a complete surprise to me that I had ever texted any attorney because the person that was texting me said they were a paralegal, and I received messages like "all attorneys are in court right now". When I asked them about this, they claimed an attorney was texting me some of the time. If that is true, that attorney never identified themself as such and almost all of the texts were about payment of their retainer. Why should I have to pay them for that?
Ultimately, I received no value from this firm and they refuse to refund me in full. Avoid at all costs

Upon the development and construction of a new, rather large condominium development just outside of New York City, I, acting as a supervisor for the owner, had numerous responsibilities including overseeing the general contractor and subcontractors alike. When we ran into severe roofing issues, water infiltration from various points of the building, in addition to HVAC issues, we were looking at substantial repair costs as well as time delays and ongoing assessments that needed to ultimately be charged to the individual owners.
Mr. Galligan stepped into the ongoing litigation, which at that point involved scores of contractor defendants when reviews and analysis leading to final apportionments of blame were necessary, and tough negotiations needed to obtain the best result for the individual owners given the circumstances. Mr. Galligan delivered.
Mr. Galligan's expertise in these types of real estate matters, together with his professionalism, incredible availability and demeanor with rather contentious and, at times, downright nasty, individuals surprised me because I always thought either lawyers fight to the end running up legal fees or end up working together to try and get a reasonable "settlement" for all parties, on both sides. Mr. Galligan did indeed obtain such a reasonable settlement, but he always fought vigorously for our side, and our side only, without ever losing his composure. I greatly admired that about it.
I highly recommend Mr. Galligan as an experienced real estate attorney, knowing full well about his other substantial accomplishments in other fields of the law even though my experience was limited to this matter. With all this said, I have no doubt that he would deliver the same attributes and ultimate success he did for us.
