Bruckheim & Patel is the best DUI firm in the DMV area. If you ask around other attorneys, which I did, this firm is on the forefront of DUI defense and has a stellar reputation above the rest. Michael Bruckeheim is an amazing attorney and makes you feel like a friend rather than a client. I knew he was an excellent choice from the start as he spent over two hours on the phone with me on a Saturday morning. He was straightforward about all the possible outcomes of the case, which I really appreciate. He also gave me some courses prior to my court date which really helped my case. In the end, I had my charges greatly reduce and Mr. Bruckheim was a calming influence throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend Mr. Bruckheim!

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW IN DETAIL: Getting a DUI is stressful. The night of the incident I knew I needed a lawyer. I was so devastated I asked my sister to do some online research and tell me where to go. This was my 2nd time and I thought my life was over. She found Michael and said this guy has 5 stars-go see him. I met with Michael and given my previous experience with attorneys he was one of the most laid back and coolest people I have ever met. His relaxed nature made me uneasy at 1st, but later I would find that I needed this to keep me calm. Michael recommended a series of tasks to complete as a back-up plan, just in case the non-guilty plea went out the window. He made sure I was able to drive until my case was heard.
The week before the trail I met with him and we reviewed the discovery information together including the tape. He gave me a topical overview of the plan but assured me he was ready to fight. The trial date finally arrived, and my stomach was in knots. His cool demeanor instantly made me feel better. The prosecutor wanted to give me a year of jail time after hearing wind of my prior. Michael smiled and said don’t worry. He was very realistic with me and said that there was a small chance that I could serve that sentence. Michael never lied during this entire experience. Somehow, he still felt hopeful.
He had several strategies for multiple scenarios and as the prosecutor maneuvered through the case, Michael was right there with her. The judge overruled him quite a bit, but this didn’t shake Michael at all. With his knowledge of the DUI laws and simply being born here, his technical arguments impressed the judge. At one point, I even saw the prosecutors look of amazement as she did not expect him to be so skilled in the case.
He was able to get the breathalyzer thrown out, from there it was a piece of cake. I walked away from a year sentence to having a ticket for 1 light out over my license plate.
If you are reading this review, trust me look know further for a DUI attorney. Michael will fight hard for your case no matter how the outcome may appear!

Dorothy R Fait was my lawyer in an extremely difficult divorce involving child custody. She advised me throughout the process without any issues; very responsive and responsible professional. All my questions and urgent requests were answered immediately, she never made me wait - which is a very important factor in high conflict cases. She paid a lot of attention to details and brought out important facts in the argument, without getting into petty exchanges.
She protected mine and my children's interest, and thanks to her I have an exceptionally detailed settlement agreement and a court order that covers all aspects of our life to prevent any possible issues.

I cannot recommend Sharon Diamant strongly enough. I consulted with her in early 2022, and her approach was refreshing, real and utterly straightforward. She did not sugarcoat what sort of results she could produce, and she was very straightforward in giving me all of my options.
Sharon always got back to me when I texted her. If she was in Court, she said so. She met with me on my schedule, which usually included Saturday mornings.
When we were in Court, she was organized and prepared. My custody case actually wound up going before a Judge, and she presented my case in a methodical and easy-to-follow way. She simplified a very complex process.
She appears to be incredibly well-liked by her colleagues and the Court, and it was clear to me she is well-respected.
I was very impressed by her calm, rational and reasoned demeanor. She answered every question I had and was never condescending, nor did she ever make me feel like I wasn't the most important client she had.
On a personal note, Sharon is an absolute sweetheart. She always insisted I call her by her first name, and it is very clear this lawyer has no ego. She is there to get a job done.
I don't recommend divorce, but if you have to go through a divorce or custody case, you cannot go wrong with Sharon.

Met Jules almost 10 years ago and he created a new will and trust to meet my needs. Recently needed to update my will and other docs and called Jules for his advice and service. Radha has been absolutely a wonder to work with. Her knowledge on any divorce matter is phenomenal. She is really professional but at the same time very relatable.

Alicia R. Lucero won both of my custody trials for me. My Limited Divorce in 2014 and Absolute Divorce in 2017. She went up against a medical doctor twice and won both times. I was also awarded child support.

A family member recently received two underage drinking citations within a few month period. The close proximity of the charges threatened to leave a permanent record that could be a burden to the client's reputation and advancement for years. In this somewhat unusual case, Bill Henry proposed a creative solution to the Court that was accepted and ultimately resulted in the complete dismissal and expungement of all charges. Bill's ongoing timely communication to multiple Maryland state officials and to us, his clients, was exemplary. We were continuously updated by phone, email, and in personal meetings, as to the status of all proceedings. We felt that we were receiving the care and expert service that clients with much larger cases (and budgets for legal services) might expect. I have worked with mr Henry twice on two different cases. The first was my fathers estate
It was a very sticky mess and required knowledge of all different aspects with properties under water and extreme debt. However mr Henry handled the estate well and everything worked out so well. I spent way more time and effort to select my divorce lawyer than I ever did to choose my (now ex) husband. I did extensive online research. I read tons of testimonials. I even listened to divorce podcasts and took notes.
On paper, Geraldine Hess stood out among the other divorce lawyers I considered because she is Fellow of the Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), and her practice is 100% focused on family law.
In practice, Geraldine Hess ended up being an advocate I could TRUST to help me navigate through one of the worst times in my life.
I liked working with Geraldine because she was always tactful and professional, but at the same time, she never sugar coated anything or tip toed around difficult things that needed to be said or done. I loved that she was so straightforward and honest, while also being fair and kind.
I also really appreciated how tough Geraldine was, both mentally and emotionally. I don’t mean that she was a junk yard bull dog with a spiked collar and a loud bark. I mean that nothing surprised her or shocked her or threw her off her game. If my husband had set himself on fire while on the witness stand, Geraldine would probably have to stifle a yawn.
Beyond that, Geraldine was organized, reliable, and responsive, as were her assistants. She ran a tight ship, and I knew that she would never let anything fall through the cracks.
During my divorce, I ended up needing a criminal lawyer and then a contract lawyer. Geraldine referred me to two excellent attorneys who were both trustworthy and excellent in their fields.
Geraldine Hess has my highest recommendation. I hope never to get divorced again, but if I did, I would call Geraldine right away.

The short version:
If you need a family law attorney, go to Geraldine. She is smart, dedicated, no nonsense (but still kind), will keep you well informed and quickly and fully responds to questions. Bottom line, she takes care of business and does so extremely efficiently.
The long (yet still shortened) version:
My spouse and I decided to get divorced and started off with the collaborative divorce process. As the collaborative process neared completion, my spouse terminated the collaborative process despite the advice of counsel and a mutual divorce coach.
Shortly after terminating the collaborative process, my spouse hired a new attorney and filed for divorce while making many false and vicious accusations along with unreasonable and upsetting requests to the court. I obtained a new family law attorney/law group and a very contentious process ensued. After many months, not much progress had been made and my attorneys were convinced that settling outside of court was not likely. My attorneys therefore significantly increased their retainer and informed me that they would have to withdraw from my case if I was unable to pay the new retainer. At this point I had amassed a significant amount of debt and could not afford the amount they requested. They withdrew from my case. I was at a complete loss for what to do. I was financially destroyed, the emotional stress of the past year and a half was taking its toll on me and I didn’t know where to turn.
Then I found Geraldine and retained her services. Almost immediately the tone of the process changed and I felt like progress was being made. Geraldine quickly got up to speed with my case and hit the ground running. She laid out the options and scenarios, explained what she was thinking and why and developed a strategy for moving forward. She kept me fully informed and answered any questions I had every step of the way. A few months after Geraldine came on board, my case was settled and with an outcome that was significantly better than what I was expecting and better than previous offers made to my spouse which had been turned down.
Having the unfortunate, and likely uncommon, experience of working with multiple family law attorneys, I can say that Geraldine is awesome at her job! She did much more for me than any prior attorney in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost.
I never write reviews. However, felt compelled to write one for Geraldine as 1) a way to acknowledge and thank her for a job very well done and 2) to hopefully help others out there who find themselves going through a divorce. It is not fun. It is not easy. However, having the right attorney makes a world of difference.

Geraldine became my lawyer in 1996. She attempted to settle my case, which involved child support, child custody, and property settlement, amicably. However, my former spouse made things extremely difficult. Geraldine recognized that we would need to change the strategy for my case, and she made the change seamlessly. She represented me well, which resulted in my being awarded primary custody of my children. She also ensured that I was able to maintain my retirement savings (my former spouse had depleted his after our separation, and he wanted half of mine). My former spouse took me to Court twice after our divorce to reduce the amount of child support he was paying. I retained Geraldine for both of those cases and found her to be just as thorough as she had been during my divorce. My case has been closed for some time now, but I still consult with Geraldine as needed. Geraldine is smart, meticulous, honest, knowledgeable, and accessible, and I strongly recommend her to anyone who needs a divorce attorney.

I contacted Mr. Rand less than a week before my scheduled hearing date. His fee for the initial consultation was very reasonable and overall his charges are reasonable. During the consultation we were able to figure the focus of my case which was a great help among all the issues I wanted to include. I decided to present my case myself and Mr. Rand spent 4 hours with me on a rainy SUNDAY afternoon to help me prepare.
