I called this law firm today, and the receptionist was extremely rude. When she answered the phone, she didn’t give the greeting of the day, and was very short when asking questions. She definitely needed some phone etiquette! When someone is calling a law firm they are in need of help, and being polite and courteous on the phone goes a long way!!

Horrible people ! I straight up fired them and they still harassed me on a daily basis to sign checks for them. Worst law firm I have ever dealt with. I would NEVER recommend anyone use their services. The BAR will be hearing from me about how you all handled my case from beginning to end. Took over 8+ months to get my ALE that they said they were not going to fight for , then when I pushed the issue they finally looked into it for me after 8+ months. I called to get a copy of my statement and I got told " No one in our office likes you , you have been nothing but rude " then proceeds to hang up on me. Again I would never recommend anyone to use this law firm. I fired them through email and they still continued to contact me and did not remove themselves as counsel after several letters informing them I did not want them representing me any further. Run run run. Find a different place.

It was May of 2022 and I had finally decided to file for divorce. I called about 15 lawyers in the Lee County area and wasn’t convinced they could adequately handle my high conflict divorce case. When you are the parent of a child with special educational needs, and you begin searching for a civil rights attorney, it probably means you’ve had some pretty horrible experiences. When I got a call from our young son’s principal, and she began using terms I could not understand, I knew we needed help to get him an IEP immediately. Windsor Law is an incredible firm, and hiring them was the best decision we ever made. Jane and Mitch are the perfect blend of experience, knowledge, and compassion. They will do whatever is within their power to get your child the support he or she needs and is entitled to. Not only do they represent you, but they also teach YOU how to advocate for your child. That alone tells you the type of people they are and what they prioritize. They give practical advice, such as “make friends,” which is not always obvious in the chaos that often surrounds education-related issues. This simple advice helped us get into a problem-solving mindset, which proved to be helpful and productive in the long run. They also are not in the business of making false promises. When we were asking for things that were outside the scope of what is allowed, Jane’s response to me was “I will do my best, but I am not God.” It made me laugh, because we needed that kind of real guidance. It’s scary to hear certain things about our kids. Jane and Mitch do not shy away from having the tough conversations, and I am so grateful for that. Of course, they will also guide you through the entire process. I am an attorney myself, and there were times I talked to Jane about deviating from her proposed strategy. When everything that was most sacred and profound was taken from me, my children, due to unscrupulous actions and vendetta and I questioned the ethical foundation of the entire legal system, I was blessed to find the one person who acted with integrity, wisdom, kindness, honor and determination. It is truly difficult to find the words to express my gratitude to Robert Hoffman. Not only does he return emails with laser-like speed and precision -- including that very first time when I wrote to him on a Sunday morning -- he is dispassionate and committed. He is a man of his word. Mr. Hoffman is a true rare breed in his field. I am extremely fortunate to have found Johanne to represent me for my divorce process. Unfortunately, I did have a previous attorney who I had to fire due to his lack of being strategic, horrible communication, and feeling like just a number. We have all heard those stories, and with him it was true.So, I am writing this review while we wait for the Judge’s Order to be finalized. YES, prior to the verdict and Order by the Judge. Therefore, I am writing this glowing review of Johanne regardless of the outcome.
From day one, Johanne was strategic and thinking outside the box on our case, which should have settled but my soon to be ex-wife was well... stubborn to put it nicely. Anyway, Johanne was extremely thorough and well prepared throughout the process; even though her home was horribly impacted by multiple hurricanes with the last 2 (Helene and Milton) which was devastating. During court yesterday, she apologized if our divorce exhibits had a musty smell, but she took them with her when she evacuated.
Johanne, made sure that I was extremely well prepared along the entire process from mediation, my deposition, digging for info to help her with the deposition of my soon to be Ex, our practice sessions for both my deposition and full day on the stand, as well as calling me out on areas of improvement.
Her thoroughness was evident during the trial with her exhibits, questions for me, questions for the ex (which got under my Ex’s skin :-D), her objections, and thinking on the spot with some “drop the mic” moments. BOOM! Versus the other attorney that well…didn’t.
This process of over 21 months was not at the fault or lack of attempts by Johanne to have this case settle. As she put it, 99% of cases like mine would settle, unfortunately ours did not.
Needless to say, it is a financial and emotional rollercoaster and Johanne was extremely supportive, caring, and a positive influence. She heard me and I felt that she was 100% on my side.
We are all human and I love the fact that she recognized that fact, and brainstormed with me to make sure that all the relevant points were covered at various stages of my divorce process.
I highly recommend Johanne Shoffstall if you are looking for a strategic, hardworking, professional and caring attorney. Thank you so much Johanne!!!
