We never thought that one day we would need to look for a Family Law Attorney for help, but life at times brings us unexpected sudden events!
We were extremely rewarded when we were referred to The Law Offices of Rashmi N. Patel.
We still remember details of our first conversation, occurred on the same day in which she was asked to call us back, but the major one is that we noticed that above all we were speaking with a True Human Being, instead of just an Attorney!In anything that one does in life, it does not matter at what level, sense of Humanity needs to be present, a cordial smile should be seen even over the phone, and the W.I.T. will to help needs to be firm and honest.We were indeed quite impressed with that phone call and we knew at that moment that we could place our entire Trust on Rashmi N. Patel as we did feel that she would get the job done!Well, let me tell you! We were right! She immediately became familiar with our case, asked important questions and moved forward with the process.During its course, which was not very long at all, she proved herself to be a very clever and experienced Family Law Attorney, firm on her words, truthful on her commitment, and kind on her guidance.When in Court at the first required appearance, on a very crucial part of the litigation, she proved again to be a Winner! My citizenship case involved multitude of items that had to obtained from various sources (agencies). Some of it was obsolete, some of it was archived, none of it readily available. Once gotten, it then needed to be cross referenced and checked for accuracy. From the distance it looked like a long and winding road.
Ms. Patel handled the case with aplomb and alacrity: my case was completed sooner than expected.

We utilized Mr. Burdett over the course of 4 years after having had a bad experience with another lawyer. He is well versed in the law but is also well respected by his peers and the judges, putting him in a position to negotiate or take a stand as needed. He is very effective at litigating and retains details as needed to react on his feet to counter arguments. That being said, he does not waste time or money on frivolous motions and billing. He tries to find the most effective way to solve the problem at hand and works at it efficiently. I highly recommend him, especially in cases that involve children and that may be more complex.

If I could mark this as a negative 10 I would. Attorney Powers took my retainer, assured me everything would be fine, etc etc etc. Then did ZERO work (which I learned about when he passed me to a new attorney 2 weeks before trial which I also learned was taking place on the same call).
My divorce was fairly black and white - had my attorney done his job. I turned all discovery materials around in a timely manner and he did NOTHING with them (while making it seem like he was doing something). Due to his total negligence, the court prevented me from entering certain evidence. Ultimately, I have to live with an outcome that can never be corrected, one that will impact my daughter's financial future forever (by way of hundreds of thousands in lost child support). Even in the 2-3 months since, he has completely ignored every email (though he is reading them), ran into my new attorney in court (promising he'd reach out so we could come to an agreement - if only to get my retainer back), he didn't even reply to a simple request for an apology. He does talk non stop, even more annoyingly when it's about his extremely expensive watch collection yet he's not paying me a cent back...
No one "loves" lawyers, but this was beyond despicable (the judge who mediated over my divorce even made it clear to me that this was absolutely a case of legal malpractice). I put my life in his hands and he literally ruined it. I will be digging myself out of this mess for the rest of my life. Horrible experience, save yourself the anguish - hire anyone on the planet but him.

It saddens me to have to write a review like this but given the situation, I feel it's best to get this out into the public to warn any future clients.
I am writing this review to express my utmost disappointment with the legal services provided by Heidi E. Opinsky. Unfortunately, my experience with her has been nothing short of frustrating. I hired her for a Prenuptial Agreement and ultimately, had to hire someone else since she was not able to come through in a timely matter. I outline all of the issues below.
First and foremost, communication was a major issue throughout the entire process. I spent the time to visit her at her home in mid-March 2023, and did not hear from her or her paralegal Oksana until I had to reach out myself about 7 weeks later, only to be told nothing was done yet.
Despite multiple attempts to reach out via email, I received little to no response from Heidi at times. When I did receive a response, it was often delayed and failed to address the concerns or questions I had raised. This lack of timely communication caused unnecessary delays and added to the overall frustration of the situation. It took over 3 months to get a first draft of the agreement.
Furthermore, I was deeply dissatisfied with the way misrepresented her schedule. I was under the impression that my case would receive the attention and priority it deserved, but unfortunately, that was far from the reality. It became evident that my case was not given the necessary time and effort, leaving me feeling neglected and disregarded as a client. She had a trial that she did not tell me about when I met with her. The trial took precedent clearly over my legal matters.
Lastly, it is worth mentioning that the documents prepared by Heidi contained numerous spelling errors and were clearly rushed. This lack of attention to detail and professionalism is simply unacceptable, considering the importance and sensitivity of legal matters. I wound up editing my own prenuptial agreement since it took her almost a month to make two quick changes that took me a total of 4 minutes to make.
As a result of all of the aforementioned issues, I thought it was best to obtain another lawyer (who was able to write up a very thorough prenuptial agreement within one week of meeting him); something that should have been taken care by her given the time I gave her. This cost me additional thousands of dollars.
Overall, my experience with Heidi E. Opinsky was nothing short of a disappointment. The lack of communication, misrepresentation of availability, failure to provide requested services, and the presence of spelling errors in legal documents, all highlight a significant lack of professionalism and dedication. I would strongly caution anyone considering legal services from Heidi to seek alternative options.
I sincerely hope that Heidi and her staff takes this feedback constructively and makes the necessary improvements to provide a better experience for future clients.
