she is a no nonsense, practical and extremely knowledgeable on the subject matter. She gave me advise on the spur of the top of her head, she was familiar with case law and rattled of several specific situations. We had been to another big name big priced hot shot attorney that was recommended to us for this matter. They really answered nothing in our first consult, it took three separate meetings to establish a plan. I was using Ms. Zawisny (through a recommendation) as a second opinion because I was told of her expertise. Well let me tell you, what she expalined more in the initial consultation than the other lawyers did in 3 meetings. She did waste my time saying that she had to do some research, she knew what she was talking about and that was obvious. the level of comfort with her handling my work is worth every dollar.Nicko

I consulted with Ms. Halk in December of 2013. She walked me through the steps and beside me for 4 1/2 years. She was compassionate, educated, level headed and fair. She was the strength that helped me endure the worst. She did everything she could to help me get my fair settlement as we were dealing with a very vindictive ex. All my fears were put to rest with her knowledgeable advice. She never made me feel like I was bothering her and was very amenable when it came to my finances. Her fee is fair. She is not about the money like so many attorneys are. She is extremely kind but firm. If she doesn't think you are upfront with her she will refer you to someone who would be a better fit. She educates you as well. By the end of my divorce, I feel like I knew the law as well. She will never lead you astray. She even took the time to make my daughter feel comfortable at a very tumultuous time in her life. I would highly recommend Carolyn. Her staff is just as kind and helpful.....We are now friends.

I hired Carolyn for a custody order that was change on me after I left the courtroom. She had agreed to take my case she Drew up the motion but she never got us a date to get in front of the judge I spent 2 years after that trying to get in touch with them I called send emails I even went into the office but no one would ever see me or call me back. Finally over 2 years later I spoke to her she said that she defended me for what I hide her for and that she was done with a case but that is not true we never went to court. So I said give me my paperwork back and the rest of my retainer and I will move on she claims she sent me a bill two months before stating that my retainer was used but it was not true I was not in contact with them for 2 years why would they send me a bill 2 months earlier did not make sense so I spent 2500 wasted 2 years and I am back where I started user beware read this carefully and think twice.

Waste of money, stay away, she will do nothing, except reschedule the hearing date, until you are found guilty!
I had a video from my dash cam which she told me she lost the day of the hearing. I had to provide the video again. She also said I would not have to attend the trial when hired, but then started calling me on the day of the trial asking when I will be coming?
This is unprofessional and doesn't give me any confidence in her ability to actually defend me. Maybe they do a good job with something, but having experienced these total gaffs how am I supposed to believe she defended me adequately.

My ex-spouse is a narcissist, willing to lie, use our child as a pawn, no matter how shameless, no matter how long and even at our child's expense. Francine Cohen, consistently anticipated and was always prepared for whatever conflicts came our way. She listened to everything I was feeling and absorbed every historical detail I provided, she knew what I wanted to convey and then knew how to assure my thoughts would be clear, concise, effective, and most of all brilliant. Francine Cohen is a legal autocorrect, absolutely priceless. Unfortunately, so many times pressing matters requiring a quick decision would happen outside of the workday, on holidays, late hours moments before exchanges, etc. Fran never once left me waiting, I never had to make a decision without her providing her thoughts. So many divorces don't go to trial, mine did. Fran and Olga are militant when it comes to organization and preparedness during the trial. They have all documents available in seconds via Ipads as well as paper. if "God forbid the WiFi" stopped working or paper documents were not available, both ways were backed up. If the opposing counsel is unprepared, Fran and Olga would provide documents in order to prevent time from being wasted. Fran made hours of trial and questioning look effortless, she studied every detail of evidence, she picked up on so many things that I missed, she was fascinating to watch. A custody battle that becomes a war, requires weapons and a shield, Francine Cohen is the only weapon and shield you need.

My divorce, custody and child support litigation changed as the situation changed through the years (eg. Changes in child custody as to who was the custodial parent). In an atmosphere very unfamiliar and intimidating to me, I was so much in need of a stable support who was not only familiar with the court system but who could portray my needs and the multiple factors involved in my case to those making the decisions. Fran has been there for us as this support from the very beginning in 2006, through the years when I needed her legal support even to helping to facilitate a domestic settlement agreement last year. In my experience, it was always an instant relief when I'd see her on arrival to court and with Fran sitting beside me in the processes, I felt confident that I had a skilled advocate.

My experience with Ms. F. P. Cohen is that she is a very nice woman but she was not a good lawyer. Firstly, for less than 6 months, I emptied my retainer and somehow ended up owing more than I could have imagined. And I was shocked because I probably only went to court about 3 or 4 times in that 6 month period. I later learned that she charged me for everything from phone calls to emails, meetings and so on and so forth. My services did not match all the money I wound up being responsible to pay. Also, in my opinion, she was not successful at upholding my image in court. She was not even able to portray my image in court and I have lived an upstanding life, all of my life. Basically, if your case is not cut and dry, and especially if it involves any serious accusations that require aggressive and direct representation ( namely custody-related court concerns), I would not recommend.

I retained this firm after I was in a car accident. I suffered a shoulder injury and I was very nervous. Mr. Casella was able to have all my medical bills paid for by the insurance company and got most of my salary reimbursed. After a few months, I am on the road to recovery and Mr Casella got me a very nice settlement. Along the way he answered all of my questions. He even checked in on me to see how I was doing. He is a great attorney and a very nice person.

So I am a recurring client of this firm. I first retained Keith Casella for a personal injury matter a few years back. Maria was hired after my first divorce attorney was caught double and triple billing me . She plays the part of a caring attorney well. In reality she is an inexperienced attorney who was admitedly afraid to question witnesses in trial. So she has a partner we will call him lou who constantly brags about his experience yet has zero drive in the court room. This crew was late to court numerous times. Even being reprimanded by the judge couldnt get them to work on time. Maria never once billed me throughout the course of my trial after I begged her to give me a bill so I can get an idea of my fees? She has no office staff was her response or I will charge you a flat fee was another response," dont worry". Well she then waits to the almost end of my 2 year divorce trial to hand me a $30,000 bill on a monday( after I already paid her $15,000 on account) then tuesday tell me she needed the money or she will quit. wednesday to my surprise right before I was set to take the stand for my testimony she filed papers to be removed. So if you want a lawyer who will NOT fight for what you deserve because she is afraid of the judge not liking her then maria novak and lou are your lawyers.If you want to fight for what is yours and not give your home ,all your money and full custody of your kids to your cheating ex then hire a different law firm.

My modification was handled terribly. We were promised the world but once our $4000 was handed over it was a different story. His assistant was unprofessional and lied all of the time. We rarely got to speak with Charles, only her. He parted ways with his partners after we hired him and he and assistant did not answer phone calls for several weeks. We were receiving threatening letters from our bank and our lawyers were ghosts. Finally they called me back after many many concerned calls, (weeks not days) From that moment on it was one fiasco after another. They got me a decent rate but failed to renegotiate my loan. The payments were only a few hundred dollars less than before and $100 less than our take home pay. We told said that we live in NYC with no property tax cap that our escrow would increase our mortgage again and they did not listen. How do we get along with less than a $100 after you pay your loan? Their answer was pay for a year and then refinance. Well that proved poor advice. all they had to do was ask the bank to extend our loan from the previous refinance before we finalized the mod. They could not be bothered with us because they already had our money. We have begged them to help us now because we know all they have to do is make one simple phone call and re open our case as our attorney that we PAID THEM FOR. But they refuse. I have to hire someone else since I cannot live this way and GUESS WHAT??? property tax and escrow went up as I told them it would. SO NO I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM and it is sad because the people who sent me to them had a wonderful experience. Something happened to change the way he did business because every client I speak to that they took on when we were taken on have the same answers.

Charles is a great attorney. After I lost my job Charles helped me to buy enough time to get back to work and eventually modify my loan. I was paying $2867 and my new payment is $1923. He made all my headaches and sleepless nights go away. I tried with some other company but they did not help me and then ended up closing their doors. From start to finish Mr. Hiatt made a very difficult and stressful situation much easier to deal with. After going through a very long painful divorce with an attorney I felt never had my best interest at heart and only prolonged things for a paycheck (shame on me for not being stronger at the time and firing her) I found myself back in court again with my ex-husband while dealing with both my mother & grandmother being very ill and both passing during the process. It was an extremely hard time and very difficult for me to choose an attorney because of my prior experience. Mr. Hiatt was honest, always quick to respond to every phone call, email and question I had. He played no games, was focused and made me feel safe and confident having him as my attorney. He resolved things as quickly as possible. He's a gentleman and compassionate and well worth his fee. I’m posting this hoping to save another person from having the same terrible experience. Eric Gansberg is unprofessional, unreliable, disorganized and has no problem lying to you. I paid $1500 for a simple service that still isn’t complete, we had a court date in December, the judge was furious that he came unprepared and for not have the ONE DOCUMENT that I paid for him to prepare, and that the judge was waiting to sign. This started in October 2021, and nothing has been submitted to the courts on my behalf and Eric Gansberg is now avoiding my calls. But he has taken my money!!!!

This "attorney" is no better than a used car salesman. Have had dealings with him a few times. He was an NYPD Lieutenant at one time, got screwed over by the job, then "vested out". Since then, he has been taking advantage of clients by under performing and not actually helping them.
He also uses is EDP son to do his dirty work and trickery.
Avoid this scammer.

What a snake!!!Worst lawyer I could of possible retained!!! Do not waste your money with this all talk no result divorce lawyer. He told me if I dropped my current lawyer and retain him, he promised he would get the results we spoke of in his FREE courtesy consultation. Which was far from free. He even said he wasn't legally aloud to see me while I was retained by another lawyer....but he did. Sat down for less then 2 hours with the other lawyer then Yost padded my bill for $2800 worth of nothing!! Zero results.... I Tried to argue the charges... he dropped me as a client. Stay away from this no shot that thinks he's a hot shot lawyer. Not only do I need to argue with my Ex wife... I now needed to argue with the one person I should trust... my lawyer. More stress on a stressful situation.

He charged my mom over a $5,000 fee to "help" her get a divorce from her husband who was abusive.. He kept telling her to just wait a little while to "see" what "happens". This went on for at least 2 1/2 years . What eventually happened was, her husband had passed away and RORY did absolutely NOTHING. Once my mom's husband passed on, I had asked RORY to send an completed "Itemized" statement on my mom's behalf. To this day (years later), I have still never received an itemized statement from him. He is a very talkative person until I asked for the statement. He was recommended to us by Matthew A Dickson (he's another "wonderful" attorney, NOT) from Graebe Financial Services. Please do your "LOVED" ones a favor and stay AWAY from these two Staten Island "attorneys"

Mr. Borrell handled my Condo purchase contract. I paid a down payment to the seller lawyer. The down payment was restituted back in a check that was mailed to Mr Borrel office. Mr. Borrell intended to directly deduct the fees he claimed are due to him. He wanted to make me sign the check so he can put it in his trust. I did not sign the check.
He bullied me in his office saying;” I am complaining about everybody and they will fire me”. He was referring to my employer.
His office failed to represent me in a criminal matter, therefore I lost my job and could not complete the purchase of the Condo.
Mr Borrel and his office offered a poor legal advice and service to me despite the high fees they were charging.

I was awarded 80,000 for my injuries and my wife was awarded 0 ,when it came to getting my check I was told by her that my wife deserves a portion of my pay out or I will not receive my check
