Extremely disrespectful, unprofessional and inconsiderate. Bill handled my mothers estate and made it extremely difficult and painful. I called for clarification on something and I was told “you’re running up quite a bill with all your questions.” Steer clear.

I asked Michelle if she and her team would support me in a divorce process that I knew would be extremely difficult to process. She and her team agreed to assist me in the process. The time we spent trying to reach a settlement was long and arduous. I highly recommend Diane Crosier who represented me during divorce and post divorce. She handled emergency hearings, emergency restraining orders, mediation, and assets and liabilities professionally and knowledgeably. Lanis Karnes was hired by my ex wife and that God forsaken mother of hers to terminate my parental rights. She filed a motion to cease my visitation with my child. I filed an 11 page response with exhibits to EE that literally destroyed ever facet of their case. Mainly because their entire case was based on conjecture, heresy and camp fire tall tales. I sent her exculpatory evidence for an allegation my XMIL made up. She had an ethical obligation to present the evidence to the judge. Instead she postponed court as my ex wife went on a desperate man hunt for someone, anyone willing to say anything negative about me. They had a woman pretend to be my girlfriend for a year so she could get close enough to have me arrested. Ms. Karnes concocted a a very complex plan requiring all 4 women performing different tasks to inevitably get me behind bars. All 4 women escaped unscathed by hiding behind the VAWA as I am accepting reality that I will never receive any justice not whip. I ever hear someone call me dad. People love to tell me karma will get them . I have to laugh because there ain’t enough karma. I reported her twice to the bar for ethics violations. That’s how I learned attorneys decide for themselves if they practice ethically.

Ive never needed a lawyer before. I live in East tn, and I suddenly found the largest, most powerful bureaucracies in the state, lined up against me with both barells! They acted as if they were above the law. I'm referring to child protective services. I went to them for help for a child in a bad situation as a mandated reporter. Then they turned on me like a pit bull. It was my worst nightmare. They just arbitrarily determined I was guilty of a crime based on the word of a derelict abusive parent. They never contacted me at all during their "investigation" of me. And they broke many more of their own rules and policies. No one would help. No one would listen to me. Family knew the truth but that didn't matter. I stood to have my name on a list, a publicly searchable database as someone who did something that never happened. They had NO CASE AT ALL but it never stopped them. I stood to be ruined by reputation, lose my ability to serve God in the capacity that I had for years. Then I found Ms. Lanis Karnes. A lawyer in the family had advised me to find one with experience in the area of administrative hearings for CPS. AND FALSE "indications" as they call them. Best advice ever. Over the months b4 hearing her staff and herself, walked me thru all that was needed, I sent them all the info and some q&a, but it was the best feeling in the world once the hearing started. All the months of worry and anger melted away as I watched her brick by brick destroy what passed as their case against me. Finally someone who was on my side (aside from witnesses and family) she was professional but tough as nails and prepared! She hit them figuratively speaking with a 10 lb hammer over and over till they had no choice but to dismiss b4 it ever even came to the point of mine and witness testimony. I just sat there in awe as she worked over this cps crew. They were stuttering and stammering and covering Their own tails. HIRE HER! HIRE HER! HIRE HER! HIRE HER! R. FROM EAST TN

As a provider of homeschool curriculum, we sometimes find ourselves trying to help families whose civil rights are violated by the out-of-control child protective system. We have worked with Lanis, and she is knowledgeable, diligent and truly cares about the families with whom she works. Not only that, but as a family who has adopted 8 special needs children, she was instrumental in helping us deal with a recent situation we had with a child who ran away from home. I cannot think of an attorney that I would rather have helping me with a case involving child protective services.

LT and her team is the BEST! I was referred to her. I did a consultation with her. I explained my entire situation and she gave me the best advice for child support court. I hired her within a week. Mr. Brinson helped me so much through my divorce. It was not something I ever thought I would go through, and Mr. Brinson was kind and understanding throughout the process. He answered my questions in a way that helped me understand some complicated things, but never made me feel dumb. I was also in contact with Mr. Brinson often because of my many questions and concerns, and he never got impatient with me. He always took the time to talk to me without seeming to rush. I felt like he truly cared about my situation and that he did his best to get me the best outcome possible. I couldn't recommend him any more highly.

I am disabled and Alex Brinson was assigned to me for divorce on a 30 year marriage from a husband that was controlling and abusive. When Alex told me he was dropping me because couldn't get husband served (even though husband in military) I didn't know what to do so I tried to find him myself (with backup assistance of course). When Alex found out he was extremely rude and told me I didn't act like an abused spouse and was a stalker. I cannot believe how rude and unprofessional this attorney was to me. He has no idea what I have been through and how controlling my husband was. I just want a divorce!!! Alex has no clue about military divorces nor what all was required when filing paperwork with the court. Don't expect him to go above and beyond for you or be professional. I don't even know why he works through legal aide if he doesn't plan on providing appropriate services. With his limited knowledge on divorce and rude demeanor I would never recommend him to anyone!

Mr. Fix was willing to look into and help me regarding my grandmothers estate. While I had trouble getting others to help or even listen, Mr. Fix actually took the time to look into the situation. He was willing to help sort out what was going on. He went above and beyond and helped me get answers. His assistance helped give me some closure and provided some much needed details into all that had occured. If I had been able to move forward I undoubtedly would of hired Mr. Fix.

I hired Bill to help me with a probate case. He was very attentive at first but with time he began to not return my calls, emails and letters sent in the mail. I’ve called him for the last 6 months trying to get probate closed and he won’t even provide an excuse for the lack in communication. I’ve paid him in full, which I guess was my mistake.

Mr. Kern represented me in 2021. I wanted to wait until my case was settled before speaking about my experiences, so if you have found this review too late before experiencing the same please forgive me. These are my opinions of my experiences as a client. I met with Mr. Kern and described my situation to him. He presented himself as a competent and experienced attorney with a specialty in family law. Reading through other reviews here, it appears his specialty is adoption and I'm sure he has done good work there and has helped a lot of people. He listened to my concerns and gave some feedback, and in my limited experience and knowledge it seemed like good feedback/advice at the time. I would go on to retain Mr. Kern , a mistake I would regret. It wasn't until about a month later when I noticed something was off. Mr. Kern often did not respond to questions via email. When he did respond the answers were sometimes vague or even non-answers. Having now been to a successful mediation I can confidently say the mediation with Mr. Kern was a mismanaged and mishandled disaster. Despite my pleas; from my perspective Mr. Kern did little to nothing to prepare me for mediation, did not provide useful feedback on my independent preparation for it, and otherwise did not represent me or my interests during mediation. During mediation Mr. Kern asked the mediating attorney for advice and guidance concerning the matters at hand. This is when I found out he was not as competent in this area of practice as I needed him to be, during a mediation. Mr. Kern did not advocate for me, and at some points was openly ridiculing my lack of legal knowledge in front of the mediating attorney. Please bear in mind I had begged him to prepare and educate me beforehand in the months leading up to the mediation. The mediating attorney appeared far more knowledgeable and I received my education and advice during mediation. A week after this predictable failure of a mediation, Mr. Kern contacted me to disclose he would no longer represent me as he didn't feel as though he could reach my goals. My opinion was Mr. Kern likely knew he could not reach my goals during our initial consultation months previously. From my perspective Mr. Kern knowingly accepted a retainer from me and wrote specific actions he was responsible for in a Representation Agreement (filing of contempt charges), with no intention of ever executing the agreed upon actions. I feel this way because had he intended to do what he said he would, he would have done it, and without me begging and nagging. I contacted Mr. Kern and made it clear I was not attacking him or his character as a person, but as an attorney he did not perform anywhere near to my expectations, he failed to execute the scope of our Representation Agreement, and I felt that I was entitled to be refunded some fees. His response to this was he would not be returning any fees. I have had time to think about this situation and how it could have worked out differently or had a better outcome. The only solution I could imagine working was to avoid Ted Kern. I have also had a lot of time to work on forgiveness and giving Mr. Kern the benefit of the doubt. In this situation I cannot give him the benefit of the doubt. He is a nice man and sells himself well, but he did not instill confidence in his abilities to me and did not perform to a level congruent with his hourly rate. When someone knowingly does some of the things Mr. Kern did (or failed to do), gets called out for them politely, and refuses to apologize or offer reparations for their actions we can deduce the issue may be related to issues of character versus a mistake made. My opinion I've developed is he is of poor character professionally. Be careful who you choose in custody matters, some attorneys are more engaged than others. In my case, he felt like controlled opposition and I was often in disbelief regarding his conduct.

My wife and I retained Mr. Kern's services for a custody dispute involving a family member we had been caring for. He was patient with us the whole way, explaining what we could and could not expect. When the situation turned less contentious, he pivoted to help us with the (ultimately successful) adoption process. We have never once regretted our decision to hire Mr. Kern; he is a good, ethical lawyer, and we are so thankful for his services.

My troubles started 4 years ago when a detective from Marshal county set me up and proceeded to charge me with a felony that I didn't do. At the time I had no record or knowledge of the law. I just wanted things behind me. I hired a lawyer who was part of the Marshall county cartel and he just went along with everything they said. Long story short I now have a target on me because I bought a farm that Tony Nichols wanted. That man was trying to take advantage of me being ignorant to the law. Last I heard they were getting me on several felonies and sending me to prison for 10+ years. I then got in contact with Ross and he had different plans so I was able to walk out of the hell hole that is Marshall county court house a free man. Ross is so personable and knowledgeable, it gives him the advantage over any other lawyer. If you've been hung out to dry and see no way out from the corruption that we call small town Tennessee politics, do yourself a favor and get Ross Brazil on your side. P.S. the DA in Marshall County is corrupt as all get out. They all are down there and need to be stopped.

I hired Frank Brazil and I paid him a lot of money, but he messed up my case, so I had to sue him for misrepresentation. Do NOT hire him, and save your money, stay away from troubles and hire a better lawyer.

It's hard to tell. He once told me I was the most difficult client he had ever had, I said thank you and moved on. But what makes me so difficult? Knowledge of the law, refusal to accept his word for anything, and a fierce internal sense of justice. Maybe. I think John is smart and wishes he had stayed in academia. Tennessee is a dumb place to try and practice the law, the folks in charge make it impossible, that's not the fault of the attorneys, right? Anyway, John is great, he's just a Tennessee attorney and they can only do so much.

I came to John with an extremely difficult case. He said he liked difficult, to which I laughed! He was not the least bit intimidated by my case. Time went by, I'd get discouraged and wanna throw in the towel. John kept my hope alive that we would win this case, and would tell me to patient. A few years later, and he was right, we won! Now, I'd be lying to you if I told you that you'd win your case in a few months. It can take alot of time. But if you want an attorney that will fight for you tooth and nail. Michael did a awesome job for my friend he listen to her and did his part. The court wouldnt give him more time to learn more about the case i dont think that was fair. But the system is not. But michael did a great job for my friend.

There are no words to express how grateful I am for this wonderful group of people!!! From the first answer of the phone (Michelle) to this minute these people have gone above and beyond to help me understand the process. I have received return calls, texts, and emails after hours simply to make sure I was ok. I’m a grandparent with this issue being my first ever legal case. I haven’t been an easy client but nobody has ever made me feel like my lack of experience was a burden to them!!!! I highly recommend LaFevor and Slaughter!!! They have all been a huge blessing to me and my family!!!!

Following a devastating house fire I had lost all my documents including my naturalization certificate. I also noticed that my passport (which was saved from the fire) had recently expired; so, I was in a difficult position of not having any proof of valid citizenship status. When I met Mr. Olsen at his office, I knew immediately that I had selected the perfect law firm due to his calm demeanor and vast knowledge of immigration law. He proceeded to get all necessary information from me and filed all necessary forms to renew my passport and apply for a replacement document. I received my new passport in record time and the new citizenship certificate much earlier than expected. A ticket I received turned out to be a Class A misdemeanor. Couldn't just pay a fine, had to appear in court. After looking up Class A misdemeanor it appeared more serious than a standard ticket, so I chose to seek legal advice. I called the Baker law firm and Mr Baker himself returned my call. I was set up with a meeting the next day and related what had happened. He felt quite certain he could get the case dismissed, possibly without a court appearance, and if that wasn't possible a short appearance in court and court costs, and the problem would be solved. Within a few hours his secretary called and informed me he had negotiated the dismissal. I did have to appear in court the next day but that went smoothly in less than a half hour. I felt like he and his staff truly cared about my problem. I give the Baker Law firm my highest recommendation. Lynn Coleman

TERRIBLE...Absolutely do not use!!!! We used for a custody case and he lost miserably. We felt like we were stuck and allowed a lot due to false hope he continued to give as a means to keep sucking in your money. Examples: we paid retainer and never knew what it went towards. Scheduled meetings and he would be 20 min or more late for and during the private meetings we had, he would take other client phone calls and discuss their case on the phone openly with us in the room. This was taking away from our allotted time of which he as always late for. The meetings would have numerous interruptions yet would still be billed for the entire hour. There was a lot of fraudulent billing for work or services not performed. Most all scheduled court hearings, he would show up to court late. Continue to put off the court dates as a means to extract additional billed hours. Charged 8 hours full bill rate for a 15 minutes in court to schedule a new court date(never know a real reason) and then wanted to sit out on the bench outside court room and smoke while talking about motorcycles. Yet, he billed for entire day fraudulently. Yes, you will be billed for his smoke breaks! He smokes a lot. Absolutely do not use this attorney! Almost a year after the case was resolved we received an additional 2800 bill from him. When questioning it was bills for made up items like the additional time spend talking on the park bench about motorcycles while he smoked. The numerous times the called us to get information that they had been provided up front in a 3 ring binder printed off and emailed. yet since they lost it, they charged again for us obtaining it. Numerous items such as this. Never once received a statement or breakdown of anything even though it was asked for several times. I denied the 2800 additional fraudulent charges. Never heard anything for a year and a collections company called. I explained and denied the charges with them and contacted Meeks office again to dispute the charges. Again they agreed to discontinue the charges. 6 months later I was served a week before a scheduled court hearing over the charges. I contacted the courts and asked to reschedule due to preplanned work trip the week of the hearing. I was directed to reschedule with Meeks office since they requested the date and hearing. I contracted them and explained the business trip for my work and had proof of it. They gave new proposed court date and would reschedule it so we could have it heard. They did not do as we agreed and had the case heard while I was on work trip anyway getting a judgement against me due to default. This attorney is crooked and will only steal your money. As far as my case was concerned. He told of all these wonderful things he could make happen in court and when it came down to it. Absolutely, did NOT deliver on anything. Actually cost me all these wasted attorney fees on top of dragging out the case a year longer then he should have. It was a custody case and this Attorney got his Butt handed to him in court. Absolutely terrible attorney and as a business, they are liars and fraudulent in their billing. You must Have a written contract and record ever single occurrence with this legal team. Yes, its a family affair. Choose a different attorney to represent you by all means. You will be money ahead and thankful. This attorney was never prepared and was blind sided ever step of the way as a result. Which will only cost you in the end. He IS going to charge you for all his mistakes and all his breaks. You will pay for his motorcycles and his daughters working for him. Choose wisely- choose someone else. This is my experience with Mr. Meeks and his team. Hope it helps others not fall victim.
