If I could give attorney Zhao a below one, it would most definitely be a 0. She has poor manners and didn't think my spouse case was work, who responds to a client stating "I have been very busy with work" like my spouse case wasn't work. Then gets upset and removed herself from the case after filling into the case because you don't like corrective criticism, how unethical. When she calls her clients she is very disgruntled and pushy, can't be so sure if its a personality conflict or a color/race conflict, but whatever it is. I would not recommend her for any case learn how to treat your clients. You won't make it very far being rude, people are no longer standing for bad behaviors.

I had a legal issue with the business that I manage and Paul King of King & Jones was an absolute pleasure to work with. From the initial phone consultation, Paul was very helpful explaining all my options and the process going forward. While working with them, they were in constant contact all the steps during the way. The final outcome was favorable and I owe it to their expertise in legal business law. Thank you!

I worked for Sidley for a long time. Coming out of the Medical field and going to work for a LAW FIRM was a bit of a change, but I was involved in Health Ins and Insurance claims and retired in 2009. Definitely, one of my favorite jobs.

I once had lawyer here put the wrong name on a form they were submitting to the government on my behalf. That kind of situation where you edit a template but fail to catch one of the places the old name was in. Fortunately, I randomly found it and called it out. No apology or acknowledgment. Sigh

I have to take a moment to recognize Michael Craven and Kevin Salzstein for their amazing support and expertise during my tumultuous divorce process. They were both very knowledgeable and kept me informed throughout the entire process. I was made aware of my rights and what I was entitled to by law. When I made a decision on whether or not to pursue something, my choice was respected and I felt confident in my decision. Both were very easy to work with and respected my time. Michael is well versed in business law as well, which I found helpful as an entrepreneur. Although I did not consider my divorce to be high conflict, when things did become stressful or intense, they remained professional and helped to keep me calm as well. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a lawyer who is authentic, who has a sense of humor, and who gets results. Divorce is one of the most difficult life stages and having either of these two in your corner, is worth every penny.

Hopefully I don't have to open any other cases in my lifetime, but if I do I know where I'm going.

I have to admit, after nearly 5 years of working with them and still not having my debt paid off, it feels like this process wasn't worth it. I have one remaining debt of $12K, and nearly $9K in my account that needs to be paid off. Yet, every month, it feels like the balance never gets closer to being resolved. At this point, I don’t understand why they can't call the creditor and negotiate directly. It finally dawned on me that the reason might be the high fees they charge. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend them again, and I am determined to stay out of debt just to avoid working with them in the future. On top of that, my account password never works, and I never receive the reset email. For a company taking in so much money, having a properly functioning website should be a basic expectation—it's almost laughable.

He kept me informed throughout the entire process, too show my appreciation for his hard work, I have already started to refer him friends and family, you don’t get a better thank you than continuing the relationship via referrals. I had a great experience with Sean Patrick. I am out of state, but needed to pursue legal action in Illinois. From the first phone call, I knew I found my lawyer. Sean was action-oriented, he did what he said he would do, and he helped me reach a settlement that I was pleased with. I would use them again if ever the case arose. If you're looking for someone who knows the game, and will aggressively fight your case, give him a call.

Had a very unpleasant experience with Sean. He was rude, demeaning and condescending in our exchange. He said there's so little at stake in my case financially that my case essentially did not matter. To me, that was incredibly insulting because I work hard for my money and I felt belittled by his comments. I would highly recommend clients to STAY AWAY from Sean. Not professional at all.

Took over a year for an Order of Protection case. Rotating attorneys never on same page. Asking for an update confuses them. They give you a team of attorneys that dont consult with each other. You have to talk with all of them and they bill you separate. It will take days sometimes weeks for a response. They do not want to review any information you have and very unorganized.

They don’t respond they are terrible it’s truly sad they are out here making your life harder and not easier. I’ve been calling and emailing nonstop since November no call back no email. NOTHING. They moved the office and didn’t even tell me I had to call the trustee to get an address on them. I’m literally sitting here crying because I’m tired of being on the bus with my 3 small children! They won’t return anything to help me get a car or anything! At this point I’m about to report them to EVERYONE I can until I’m done dealing with these low down lying unprofessional people! They played with the right one😃

What a Financial Markets and Services Lawyer Can Do for You

A financial markets and services lawyer specializes in providing legal advice and representation to individuals, corporations, and financial institutions involved in various aspects of financial markets and services. These lawyers deal with issues related to securities regulations, banking laws, investment management, financial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance. They help clients navigate complex financial regulations, mitigate risks, and resolve disputes that arise from financial dealings.

Whether you're an investor, corporation, or financial institution, a financial markets and services lawyer can help ensure that your financial activities are compliant with the law and structured to protect your interests.

When Should I Hire a Financial Markets and Services Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a financial markets and services lawyer in the following situations:

  • Compliance with financial regulations: If your business is subject to financial regulations, such as those enforced by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or other regulatory bodies, a lawyer can ensure compliance to avoid penalties or legal issues.
  • Securities law and investment management: If you’re issuing, buying, or selling securities, a financial lawyer can help ensure that your activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, such as the Securities Act and the Dodd-Frank Act.
  • Banking and financial transactions: Whether you’re a financial institution or a business engaged in complex financial transactions, a lawyer can draft and negotiate agreements, ensuring compliance with banking laws and regulations.
  • Mergers and acquisitions: If your business is involved in a merger, acquisition, or significant restructuring, a lawyer can provide legal guidance on the transaction and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Resolving disputes: If you’re involved in disputes regarding securities fraud, financial misconduct, or breaches of fiduciary duty, a lawyer can represent your interests in litigation or arbitration.
  • Investment fund formation: If you're setting up an investment fund, such as a hedge fund or private equity fund, a lawyer can help with legal structuring, regulatory compliance, and drafting fund documents.
  • Financial product development: For financial institutions developing new financial products, a lawyer can ensure that these products comply with relevant regulations and market standards.

Hiring a lawyer with expertise in financial markets and services can help prevent costly legal disputes, ensure compliance with complex regulations, and protect your financial interests.

What Does a Financial Markets and Services Lawyer Do?

A financial markets and services lawyer provides a wide range of services, depending on the specific needs of their clients. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Ensuring regulatory compliance: Financial markets lawyers help clients navigate federal and state regulations, including securities laws, banking regulations, and consumer protection laws. They ensure clients are compliant with laws such as the Securities Exchange Act, the Investment Advisers Act, and the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Advising on securities and investments: These lawyers provide guidance on issuing securities, registering securities with the SEC, and complying with insider trading and disclosure rules. They also advise investment managers and funds on compliance with the Investment Company Act.
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts: Lawyers draft and review contracts related to financial transactions, including loan agreements, investment agreements, and derivative contracts, ensuring the terms are favorable and legally sound.

How Are Financial Markets and Services Lawyers Paid?

Financial markets and services lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many financial markets lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $300 to $1,500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience, the complexity of the work, and the jurisdiction. Hourly rates are common for advisory and compliance work.
  • Flat fee: For specific projects, such as drafting a particular agreement or filing a regulatory document, lawyers may charge a flat fee. Flat fees are typically used for straightforward legal tasks.
  • Retainer: For ongoing legal services, such as handling compliance issues over time or advising on multiple transactions, financial institutions may pay a retainer. This is an upfront payment that is billed against as the lawyer works on various matters.
  • Contingency fee: In some cases, particularly litigation or arbitration over financial disputes, a lawyer may work on a contingency fee basis. This means they are paid a percentage of the settlement or judgment if they win the case.

It’s important to clarify the fee arrangement with your lawyer during the initial consultation to ensure you understand the total cost of services.
