John Hogan & his staff were my angels. Their knowledge & patience & understanding got me through a most difficult time in my life. I had been denied twice and I was waiting for a date for a hearing when my current attorney dropped me. Social Security told me I could start collecting my Retirement Benefits while waiting for my hearing. My current attorney said I could not do this. When I emailed him proof from Social Security that I most certainly could do this, they dropped me as their client. That was the greatest gift they could have done for me. This is when I found John Hogan's Law Firm. They were totally honest with me throughout the entire process and always informed me of what to expect next. Their knowledge and honesty and professionalism is unsurpassed. I truly had the worst firm representing me and ended up with the absolute best firm representing me. You can most definitely put your trust in John Hogan's law firm. They do what they say. I put my life in their hands and I couldn't have had a better outcome. I was awarded the maximum that the law allowed as the judge found my case "Fully Favorable" in every area. The angels at John Hogan's Law Firm will take care of you, rest assured.

John was the lawyer for our township for several years. I was personally very pleased with his consistent guidance. He dealt with many matters of varied degree, one large wastewater treatment plant. A 10 million dollar project. He was always very professional. He was my personal lawyer &/or advisor on several things for which I was very pleased. Sorry for the delay but I've been unreachable by e-mail. Sincerely, James E W, Jr

John did a great job presenting the facts and defending me when my neighbor was shot. This required outside the box thinking that John did well. As Defense lawyers go, I would put him in close to the top 10%. A good lawyer is not cheap, but will worth it in our corrupt Justice system. John and I worked as a team, which I liked since it was my future at stake. John got to know me as a person and not just a name (or checking account number). He was open to my ideas on how to prove the accusers were lying. One must realize that lawyers are also actors and must impress the jury. John was good. I would use him again if I needed an attorney.

I was really struggling with what my options were when I was fired by my employer. I wasn't paid, upon my exit and my employer was refuting my termination stating that I resigned. I was scared and didn't know how to fight back. Ralph was on the phone with me at 10pm walking me through exactly what I needed to do and put my mind at ease.

I went to Ralph Powell 18 months into my case after my initial lawyer had to retire for health reasons. In just a few short weeks Mr. Powell had reviewed the case file, met with me to discuss the specifics and options of the case, and formulated a game plan. My case was an auto accident with no fault on my part but an insurance company playing games at my expense. Within approximately 4 months he was able to negotiate a settlement by bringing reasonable solutions to the table and brought my case to a close. Mr. Powell kept me informed regularly and was very aggressive in getting the information needed. He thoroughly, and I say again, thoroughly handled all the particulars of my case. I was very pleased with the final outcome and I could not have asked for a better team than Ralph Powell and his staff.

My business was in a dispute with a competitor. I contacted Marc's firm about the matter and was very impressed not only with his knowledge but also his patience when answering the large number of questions I had. My case was certainly not his largest but he took the time to understand my situation and I never felt rushed. Marc very quickly resolved the case in my favor and I thought that our business was done. Some weeks later though, I received a call from Marc making me aware that my competitor was subtlety attacking my business. He told me not to worry that he would take care of it. He did, and I could not be more grateful because I am certain the revenue loss would have been substantial. As a small business owner it defied my expectations to find a professional firm like Marc's who was not only able to protect me but also cared enough to follow up after our business was done.

Yasha Heidari is a rockstar of the legal world. I have used other attorneys in the past. Mr. Heidari is on another level. I had a complicated case. I spoke with attorneys that gave me all sorts of conflicting advice and none of them made me feel very good about my case. I received Yasha (Mr. Heidari's) name through a personal friend that spoke extremely highly of him and hyped him up. His hype was more than deserved. He is professional, smart, likeable, responsive, and every other quality you would want in an attorney. It's almost like he could see into the future. He seemed 5 steps ahead of everyone. I could go on and on and on. He helped me in a difficult time and I could not be happier with him and the way he handled my case. Yasha is an excellent attorney and I'm lucky I met him.

I recently used Mr. Heidari and had both great results and great experience. I googled him and found this page, and to my suprise, I'm going to be his first review. I came to know and use Mr. Heidari from a friend of mine who highly recommended him. To be quite honest, when I met him, I thought he seemed a bit younger than attorneys I have used in the past, but I will tell you right now: I will easily give Mr. Heidari my HIGHEST recommendation and will tell anyone, without a doubt, that they can't pick a better choice than Mr. Heidari. It didn't take long for me to learn why my friend gave Mr. Heidari such a high recommendation. First, he is VERY knowledgable. He seemed to have a mastery of all subjects at hand. I've dealt with quite a few attorneys in the past, and I am a professional myself-- I can easily tell when someone is blowing smoke. Mr. Heidari does not blow smoke. He is exceptionally smart. Second, he is extremely responsive. One of my biggest gripes with attorneys I've used in the past is that they didn't keep me in the loop, would take a long time to respond to my calls, etc. This is quite the opposite with Mr. Heidari. When I first met Mr. Heidari, I asked him what made him and his firm special. One of the things he told me was that his firm tried to make each client feel like he or she is their only client. Initially, I thought that was simply good marketing, but I will tell you that he is 100% correct. He made me feel like I was special and always had access to him. I once called him at his office at 9 p.m. at night intending to leave him a voicemail, but to my suprise, he answered the phone and spent around an hour talking to me. When we had difficulty scheduling a meeting and some deadlines coming up, he met with me on the weekend. I even noticed he didn't bill me for most of our conversations and asked him if it was a mistake, to which he responded that's not how he does business. WOW! (My previous attorneys would charge me through the nose if they told me "Good morning".) Third, and definitely most important, he won my case! You should have seen the way he DESTROYED the opposing attorney's arguments! It was a pleasure to see. (I almost felt bad for the opposing attorney. I say ALMOST!) This seemed to be the general trend with Mr. Heidari. Even though I'm not a lawyer and sometimes had difficulty understanding the legal aspects of his letters, e-mails, and court documents, it was even clear to me that he was doing an exceptional job. (Mind you, Mr. Heidari would always explain to me what was going on and tell me the next step that was going to be taken without me having to ask. He was also very patient, understanding, and helpful with all of my questions even though I admit I can be a difficult and demanding person sometimes.) Overall, I've said a lot, but the point is that Mr. Heidari is an exceptional attorney and I'm very happy I used him. I'm not the type of person that writes reviews either. I don't think I've written another review in the past 10 years, but I simply feel exceptionally good about my experience with him. Everything else aside, if I need legal services, I will use him again. This is 100% without a doubt. I simply don't care what the matter is or where the matter is. He's earned my business for life. I will also recommend him to everyone I know (and their uncles) because he is simply that good. Yasha, if you read this, THANK YOU! -Dave Jones

I am beginning my review by stating that if you are in search of a professional, competent, conscientious, compassionate lawyer, then Kevin Tallant is most assuredly that person. When I found myself in need of legal assistance to obtain guardianship/ conservatorship for my aunt, who suffered from progressive dementia, I researched among community members to find the best legal representative for myself. I determined that Kevin Tallant, who had the reputation as an exceptional lawyer with expertise in probate law, was the lawyer for my needs. After working with Kevin for more than two years to acquire and manage the guardianship/ conservatorship for my aunt and, later, after her passing, to settle her estate, I can attest to the fact that he is an exceptional lawyer and human being. He ( and his very supportive staff ) were always an email or phone call away to provide me with legal advice, guidance and, in some instances, moral support. With Kevin's counsel, all probate court processes went extremely smoothly, which reduced my stress during this sometimes overwhelming life experience. Kevin kept me informed of court proceedings, updates and discussed legal options with me on a continuous basis. I can't imagine how I would have gotten through this period in my life without Kevin's valuable assistance. I would recommend Kevin to anyone treading through the complex, frustrating waters of the legal system.

Kevin did a masterful job of defending us in a lawsuit that could have cost us ten of thousands of dollars. We won a jury verdict which compensated us for our losses plus ALL our attorney fees, which is pretty much unheard of. We would highly recommend him to anyone involved in litigation, whether they are a plaintiff or defendant involved in a lawsuit.

Ben represented my company on a very complex liability case. Being from Texas and never even meeting in person, Ben took the time to learn about a industry he had no pryer knowledge of, and went into each stage of the case being more informed and prepared than any other attorney that was representing the other parties. Time after time, Ben was placed in a room full of other representing attorneys and there was never any question who was the best guy in the room!! If you are looking for somebody to represent you, I can not over recommend this man, he worked late and even on Sunday! If I ever had questions, he had already thought about them and had quick and intuitive responses. Look no further for somebody to represent you!

I am a 1SG in the United States Army. I was falsely accused of abusive sexual contact by one of my platoon sergeant’s. I contacted Mike and hired him right away after our initial conversation. Eventually I was charged with an article 120 and article 93 UCMJ. When it seemed like the Army said I was guilty before innocent Mike was there by my side fully explaining everything to me and my family. He worked countless hours as this case went on for 17 months, he never wavered from my side regardless of the mountains we faced and the uphill battles we faced. Finally our day in court came and Mike was flawless even having to adjust in court when we couldn’t give the jury the entire story due to legal stuff I have no idea about. Mike took it in stride adjusted fire and destroyed the prosecution even when it seemed like he had one hand tied behind his back. Mike’s work resulted in the truth coming out and me being found not guilty of all charges. Mike has allowed me to continue my career and given me the opportunity to move forward from this unfortunate situation and work towards my retirement. Again I want to thank Mike for everything he did for me and my family over the 17 months of this case, if it was for his great work The truth probably would not have came out and there would have been a different outcome.

I WAS HAVING A COUNTY ISSUE, AND IT WAS QUITE DIFFICULT TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY FROM THAT COUNTY . I HAD HEARD OF AN ATTORNEY IN CARTERSVILLE THAT WAS EXCELLENT WITH ZONING ISSUES. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND MR. JENKINS. MY WIFE AND I TRAVELED TO CARTERSVILLE FROM CHATTANOOGA AND WHEN WE ARRIVED MR. JENKINS AND HIS STAFF WERE VERY NICE AND HIS OFFICE WAS NOT A HOLE IN THE WALL. MR. JENKINS TOOK MY WIFE AND I UP STAIRS TO THE VERY NICE CONFERENCE ROOM. HE HAD ANOTHER ATTORNEY WITH HIM MAKING SURE THAT HE DID NOT MISS ANYTHING AND THEY BOTH WERE TAKING NOTES ON PAPER AND THEIR LAPTOP, AND NOT JUST LISTENING . ALL OF THIS HAPPENED BEFORE WE HAD RETAINED THE SERVICES OF THE LAW FIRM. MY WIFE HAD BEEN MAKING A NOTEBOOK OF ALL THE DETAILS OF THE CASE SO THIS HELPED TREMENDOUSLY. SO MAKE SURE AND TAKE NOTES ON YOUR CASE BEFORE YOU GO TO AN ATTORNEY. WITHIN TWO DAYS I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MR. JENKINS AND HE AND I WERE ON THE PHONE WITH THE PEOPLE THAT COULD MAKE THINGS HAPPEN IN MY CASE. MR. JENKINS HAD A MAPPED OUT PLAN OF WHAT COURSE OF ACTION WE WERE GOING TO TAKE AND STEP BY STEP WE ARE DOING JUST THAT. EACH WEEK I GET A DETAILED BILL OF WHAT MR. JENKINS HAS ACCOMPLISHED FOR MY WIFE AND I . SOME ATTORNEY THAT I HAVE HAD IN THE PAST WOULD SEND A BILL WITH A DOLLAR AMOUNT AND NO DETAIL AT ALL. JUST IS THE BILL . I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH MR. JENKINS, HE DOES CHARGE A LITTLE MORE THAN THE AVERAGE ATTORNEY, BUT HE HAS ALREADY SPENT THE TIME AND RESEARCH ON ZONING SO I AM NOT PAYING HIM FOR DOING THE RESEARCH ON MY DIME. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT REALIZE THIS, YES YOU MAY PAY AN ATTORNEY LESS MONEY PER HOUR , BUT IF THEY HAVE TO SPEND TIME RESEARCHING THE CASE LAW AND HISTORY THEN YOU HAVE SPENT WAY MORE MONEY THAN THE LAWYER THAT IS ONLY BILLING YOU FOR THE TIME DRAFTING THE DOCUMENTS FOR COURT NOT RESEARCH. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP MIKE

I am a contractual-based computer programmer and performed work for a Macon, Georgia Internet development company from 2006-2010. I was working under essentially a verbal agreement with no written contract. That's all well and good when things are fine but when push comes to shove, verbal agreements are worth the paper they aren't written on. As it turned out, the company encountered financial difficulties during 2010 and eventually told me they no longer needed my services, refusing payment to me for two months worth of work plus a flat-fee service agreement. Mr. Finkelstein contacted the company on my behalf and negotiated a settlement with very quick results. I was extremely impressed with the way he presented my position, which was pretty weak to be honest, and he came through when another attorney may not have been able to reach an agreement. I highly recommend Mr. Finkelstein to anyone needing the services of an attorney.

Pat O'Connor entered my life at the lowest point in my life: my son had been killed a few days earlier in a collision caused by a woman driving in the wrong direction on an interstate highway while allegedly intoxicated. The collision occurred near Savannah, Georgia, while I live in Virginia, a circumstance that presented a myriad or problems for pursuing a civil action against the defendant. Fortuitously, my son had a friend familiar with the legal community in the area. The friend recommended Pat and I retained him; I could not have made a better choice. Throughout the legal proceedings Pat provided advice and counsel that, in my view, could not have been surpassed; every detail was handled with an expertise gained over many years of experience. Not only did Pat make himself available at every hour of every day, wherever he may have been, he brought to bear the expertise of the supporting staff in the law firm he spearheads. While my family and I were in need of a competent lawyer, we also needed a lawyer with a heart: someone who could offer wise counsel, someone who could cope with our anger and impatience, someone who could understand and appreciate our desire for justice for our son---Pat fulfilled all expectations. The civil suit has now been settled and through Pat's efforts my family and I have been awarded the judment we sought. Would I recommend Patrick T. O'Connor to anyone requiring the services of an attorney? The answer is a resounding "YES."

Matt represented me in two separate cases, including felony and misdemeanors charges. Most lawyers would've urged me to take a plea, but Matt reviewed the codes and was actually able to get both of my cases dismissed. Matt also was able to get all those charges expunged from my record, so they wouldn't influence my future. He's a great lawyer who goes the extra mile to help his clients.

What a Government Lawyer Can Do for You

A government lawyer specializes in legal issues related to government policies, regulations, and disputes involving public entities. Whether you are a private individual, business, or government agency, a government lawyer provides expert guidance on navigating the complexities of government law. These attorneys handle cases ranging from constitutional law, administrative law, regulatory compliance, and government contracts to defending or challenging government actions.

Government lawyers help individuals and organizations understand their rights and obligations under the law, represent them in disputes with government agencies, and assist in matters of government contracting, procurement, or public policy.

When Should I Hire a Government Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a government lawyer in several situations involving government regulations, compliance, or disputes. Common reasons to hire a government lawyer include:

  • Government contracts and procurement: If you are bidding for or negotiating a contract with a government agency, a lawyer can help ensure compliance with federal, state, or local contracting rules.
  • Regulatory compliance: Businesses operating in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, environmental sectors) often need legal guidance to comply with government regulations and avoid penalties.
  • Government investigations: If you're being investigated by a government agency such as the IRS, SEC, or EPA, a government lawyer can help defend you against allegations or negotiate settlements.
  • Challenging government actions: If a government agency has denied a permit, license, or benefit, a lawyer can help you appeal or challenge the decision in court.
  • Constitutional and civil rights issues: If you believe your constitutional rights have been violated by a government entity, such as in cases involving free speech or discrimination, a government lawyer can help you seek justice.
  • Public policy or lobbying efforts: If you are involved in lobbying or advocating for policy changes at the local, state, or federal level, a government lawyer can provide legal advice on compliance with lobbying laws and strategies for effective advocacy.

Hiring a government lawyer early in the process can help you navigate complex legal frameworks and avoid costly mistakes when dealing with government-related legal issues.

What Does a Government Lawyer Do?

A government lawyer provides a wide range of services that cover interactions between individuals, businesses, and government entities. They can:

  • Assist with government contracts: Helping clients navigate procurement laws, drafting contracts, and resolving disputes related to government contracting.
  • Provide regulatory compliance advice: Offering guidance on meeting regulatory requirements for industries subject to federal, state, or local laws.
  • Handle administrative law matters: Representing clients before government agencies, such as appealing administrative decisions, applying for permits, or defending against regulatory enforcement actions.
  • Challenge or defend government actions: Representing clients in lawsuits involving government agencies, including constitutional challenges, civil rights violations, or disputes over government decisions.
  • Negotiate settlements with government entities: If a government agency is pursuing legal action against you or your business, a lawyer can negotiate settlements to avoid costly litigation.
  • Advocate for policy changes: Advising clients on legal strategies for influencing public policy, including lobbying and drafting legislation.
  • Litigate constitutional issues: Handling cases related to the Constitution, such as First Amendment rights, due process violations, or unlawful government actions.

How Are Government Lawyers Paid?

Government lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the nature of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: For ongoing legal matters, such as regulatory compliance or government contract disputes, lawyers may charge by the hour. Hourly rates can vary depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as drafting a government contract or filing an administrative appeal, some lawyers charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: For clients who need ongoing legal support, such as businesses frequently interacting with government agencies, a lawyer may charge a retainer fee. This is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.
  • Contingency fee: In some cases involving litigation, such as civil rights violations, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case.

It’s important to discuss fee structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Government Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a government lawyer depends on the complexity of the legal issue, the lawyer's experience, and their fee structure. Here are some general cost estimates:

  • Hourly rates: Government lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For specific legal services, such as drafting a government contract, flat fees can range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the nature of the service.
  • Retainer fees: A retainer for ongoing legal work with government agencies can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the scope and frequency of the work.
  • Contingency fees: In cases where a lawyer works on contingency, their fee is usually a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or damages awarded if the case is successful.

Be sure to get a clear estimate of costs during your consultation to ensure that you understand the fees associated with your case.

Top Questions to Ask a Government Lawyer

When hiring a government lawyer, it’s essential to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and skills needed for your specific situation. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What is your experience with government law cases?
Make sure the lawyer has substantial experience in handling cases or issues involving government agencies, regulatory compliance, or constitutional law.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services - whether by the hour, flat fee, retainer, or contingency fee - and request an estimate of costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your legal options and the likelihood of success based on your specific situation.
  4. How do you handle interactions with government agencies?
Ask about their approach to dealing with government entities and their experience with specific agencies relevant to your case (e.g., IRS, EPA, SEC).
  5. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Ask about their experience with similar cases and whether they have achieved favorable outcomes in the past.
  6. Who will handle my case?
Clarify whether the lawyer you are meeting with will personally handle your case or whether junior attorneys or paralegals will do most of the work.

How to Check the Credibility of a Government Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a reputable government lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Review their professional experience: Look for specific experience in government-related legal issues, such as regulatory compliance, government contracts, or administrative law, on their website or professional profile.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check online reviews and ratings on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to get insight into the lawyer’s reputation and track record.
  • Ask for references: Request references from previous clients who have worked with the lawyer on government-related matters to understand their experience and effectiveness.
  • Check for membership in relevant organizations: Look for memberships in professional organizations such as the American Bar Association's Administrative Law Section or the National Institute of Government Procurement, which can indicate the lawyer’s focus on government law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a government lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant information and documents. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Detailed description of your legal issue: Be prepared to explain your situation, whether it’s a regulatory compliance question, a government contract issue, or a dispute with a government agency.
  • Relevant documents: Bring any paperwork related to your case, such as contracts, permits, letters from government agencies, or notices of investigation.
  • A list of questions: Write down any questions you have about your case, including the legal process, potential outcomes, and costs.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any relevant events, such as the issuance of government orders or interactions with government agencies.
  • Goals for the outcome: Be ready to discuss what you hope to achieve, whether it’s a favorable settlement, regulatory compliance, or overturning a government decision.

By being organized and prepared, you can help your lawyer understand your situation more quickly and give you the best legal advice moving forward.
