From start to finish Laura was very professional and on top of everything! She got a slam dunk case for the state reduced to nothing and made it so my license was never suspended through the whole process. She did all I expected and then some. I recommend Laura to everyone that needs a DUI attorney. Use her! You won't regret it!!!

My wife had received a speeding ticket in Buckley for 22MPH over the limit. We were quite concerned about insurance rates going up for the next few years, and decided we should get an attorney. Laura was extremely helpful throughout the entire process and managed to get the ticket dropped down to a non moving violation, which has no effect on insurance rates. Laura kept us in the loop on the process the entire way. She was great! If we ever needed help again, we would definitely call Laura first!

Laura was a fantastic attorney to have in my corner-she was proactive in having me take steps to help my case (ie: anger class, community service etc) before it was requested and ultimately lead to a good outcome. She also was easy to contact when I had questions and concerns. I would absolutely recommend her!

Jim Bendell provided exceptional legal representation during our guardianship case. His deep knowledge of guardianship law, combined with his genuine compassion and attention to detail, made a challenging process much easier to navigate. He was always accessible to answer our questions and took the time to explain complex legal concepts in understandable terms. His advocacy on our behalf was tireless, and his expertise in this area of law was evident throughout the entire process. The outcome exceeded our expectations, thanks to his dedicated work. I highly recommend Jim Bendell and the Bendell Law Firm to anyone seeking guidance in guardianship matters. Thank you, Jim, for your outstanding professional service and personal commitment to our case.

James Bendell charged me well over $100, 0000 and never got the case of Real Estate Fraud to trial. He dropped me. I'm now on my own, PRO SE. I'm a 60 Year old Disabled Homeless Veteran. Living in the Colville National Forest still struggling. He knew this the whole time. I've been treated with utter disregard. I would never hire this man again. I find it strange that he has no negative reviews now as he previously did have. Where did they go?

I can't speak to the law skills of this firm, but the woman who answers the phones should take a sabbatical. I called about a situation involving my father's death and property he owned (trying to transfer ownership) and she wouldn't even let me speak before interrupting and telling me what I had to do. While she might have been right with her advice for one situation, she literally wouldn't let me speak about other things I wanted to ask about and she continually interrupted me (even after I said "hey, you keep interrupting me and I'd really like to explain a few other things" and then she interrupted again and would not let me speak!) Pretty horrible and rude experience on the phone to the point that I simply hung up because she would not let me speak. Super unprofessional experience and not someone you want answering your phones for first time clients. I had multiple things I wanted to ask about and would have brought business to this firm, instead I hung up feeling like the world is a crazy place and the woman here is obviously in great need of a long vacation and some meditation. To the woman on the phone: I truly wish you peace in your life. You are not well. Seek help.

Rude and unhelpful, wouldn’t call them back if they were the last place in town. I called to see if they could help and before I’m even done asking my question she interrupted me to tell me to “go with another lawyer (that I’m working with on an unrelated issue) because that’s who I need to work with and why am I not contacting them” I didn’t contact them for a reason but apparently you aren’t interested in my business.

I had the displeasure of consulting an attorney here for a real estate issue and the attorney was demeaning and belligerent. He discounted our concerns and acted like he did not want to be bothered. This firm advertises that they deal with real estate issues, but this attorney only was interested if we sue and go to court. What a colossal waste of my time. Anyone reading this, please steer clear of Thomson Holman Wheiler.

I have had the pleasure of working with Attorney Mitch Coats for both business/real estate law and criminal defense matters, and I can say with confidence that his dedication to his clients is unmatched. Mitch’s commitment to the law and his clients shines through in every aspect of his work. Whether it’s navigating the complexities of business transactions or defending against criminal accusations, he approaches every case with a zealous passion that’s rare to find. In business and real estate dealings, Mitch is thorough and insightful, always ensuring that my interests are protected and my goals are met. His deep understanding of real estate law has provided me with invaluable guidance, allowing me to confidently make decisions and move forward with my business ventures. On the criminal defense side, Mitch’s advocacy is unwavering. Justice can often feel elusive, especially when facing wrongful accusations, but Mitch stands tall and fights for what’s right. His ability to analyze the facts, build a strong defense, and challenge the prosecution’s case will leave you feeling secure in this difficult time. If you need an attorney who will fight for you with integrity, passion, and expertise, look no further than Mitch Coats. His commitment to his clients is second to none, and I am grateful to have him in my corner. Highly recommend!

After we had a shady unregistered contractor cause about $22,000 worth of damage to our property, ate a $3,500 down payment, then completely blow us off back in 2022, we were recommended to this office and Victor Villegas by a family member to help us start a case. We were initially under the impression that Victor was willing and able to help us with our case, but upon our first in-person meeting we were quickly passed off to Joe Southers. Since the contractor that caused the damage was unregistered in the state of Idaho, everyone emphasized to us that he made it really easy to go after him, and that this case was an easy win. We were super excited at this news, seeing as we could not afford to eat an expense like this. They immediately ran into problems with actually getting in touch with the contractor, and paperwork sent to the address we were given by him was refused, so the case came to a screeching standstill before it could even gain any ground. Upon brainstorming what the next steps could be, including a suggestion from us to have a sheriff “serve” the papers, and expressing our willingness to pursue these options at any cost, it was clear Joe was not excited about these options when nothing happened after that. After a couple months it was mentioned that we could do an ad in the paper for a period of time, and let the case go straight to a judge for automatic judgement, in which if the contractor doesn’t show up to court, it’s pretty much an immediate win. Again, we expressed that we would love to pursue this avenue, but again we were given silence on updates. I believe we waited about 6 months to hear from Joe on any updates but correspondence on his end was nonexistent. We eventually called him to ask for any updates and to see if the ad in the paper had ever even happened, to which he pretty much couldn’t remember who we were and which case this was. After we called him to discover he pretty much blew off our case for 6 months, we also received a bill where he charged us for the phone call in which we all but reminded him of who we were, and to do his job. We were also billed for him to “revise” an already completed one-paragraph complaint form to the contractor for two hours…. Between these and the other sometimes questionable lawyer fees we had already had to pay previously, we decided to drop the case. It became extremely clear to us that Joe did not care. We were definitely not a priority for him, and he even seemed very arrogant and upset when we told him we were ready to drop the case after having him string us along for almost a year with absolutely no progress. There was just never anything to show for the next hefty bill from this office. It was after the case was already dropped that we found out Joe was actually able to finally get in contact with the contractor. This was just never at any point mentioned to us. So, we had no idea. The methods at which communication was conducted was either nonexistent or unprofessional, such as finding things out through the grapevine once my family member was told, despite that family member wanting zero involvement in our case outside of the initial introductions. Overall working with Joe was a very expensive waste of time. We never at any point felt he had our best interest at heart.

Angels office and Justin Walters are a JOKE, Walters doesn't understand HIPAA law or even ADA Law under the courts perview. We have drug addicts, and they are wasting the tax payers money, on an ADA dog violation. That should have NEVER happened as Angell is the City Atty, of Rigby, and should have instructed the Mayor and the Police Chief the definition of neighborhood nuience, Tasha and Brenda Lane, I an ADA can not take my ADA dog out in a back yard I perched, because there's agressive dogs that attack the fence, pushing the fence boards into my yard, and those dogs already jumped the fence and attacked another neighbors dogs. So, I took my dog out front and Tasha and Brenda Lane, along with Matthew Polk have been playing games since the day I moved in Angell himself has been named in a Tort, and reported to the BAR so this is just good ole boy retaliation. So, your tax dollars are going to prosecute an ADA person because Angell, didn't council the Mayor, City Council, or the Chief of Police and it's officers of ordinances to get the neighbors under control, of course they didn't, they want to prosecute a dog off a leash for pissing. That's how money grubbing these Zealots are. Wasting YOUR tax dollars to fill thier pockets over perry incident of neighbors that appear to be above the law themselves in Chief Fullmor's eyes I think it's called selective prosecutions, when the law is only applies to specific parties, Oh actually the police manuals already address this, how do I know? I read them ALL. I also went to the PD Academy about 30 years ago and have my 911 dispatcher certs. I have been studying law 23 years. This is nothing but good ole boy retaliation for naming Angell in a Tort, and reporting him to the BAR. Happy he's playing retaliation for a 156.00 fine? This will probably expose the underground of the criminal complex of back scratching of we will let our friends violate the laws but go after those that we want to make an example of. Tax Payers I'm here to tell you, Angells Firm has already billed the city more than 156.50 on your dime, to prosecute a dog needing a place to take a piss. As a tax payer you should be pissed that Angell, our little Mayor and self proclaimed "oversight" with ZERO experience in either law or policing knows what the heck Chief Fullmor's doing. Oh, but I sure know what's going on. Because I have combined 30 years of both knowledge of both law and PD knowledge. Unlike our Mayor or even Angell himself. Justin Walters is a rude little miscreant that does not understand HIPAA or ADA Laws. This law firm is preditory and seeks to abuse it's power within the community off the community's tax dollars. To bad the Police Chief and gang didn't focus on getting drugs off the street, instead they are worried about an ADA dog needing to piss. Oh side note Allen Fillmor and gang of cops don't seem to be able to find former City Atty Dunn with Fentanyl cuz they are to busy trying to nail ADA people and thier dogs needing to go to the bathroom. This is how our tax dollars are spent people. It's only going to get worse. As I investigate, I found out Angell is rolling in our tax dollars. I public record requested his city contract and just this contract brings in 6k PLUS 3500.00 per misdimeanor. I've found three illegal revenue streams involving citations and fees, he and Justin Walters know what they are doing to the people of Rigby, this goes all the way to the top and through our current government and I have the hard copy proof now. I'm going to the Public Corruption Unit of the FBI where I have turned in a dirty cop now doing 40 years in Club Fed. Angell is so glib he thought no one would catch on. PRR public records, Walters is in charge for fees and fines. I caught Walters and Judge picking who and how to punish people. Citations are supposed to go up per citation. They didn't fine to ordaninces. Chief of the PD involved. Corruption. FOIA Dave Swager, City Hall 4 insurance/ bonds. Police Misconduct/ Dishonest Employees 500k each egregious action.

Unethical and prone to overbill. I hired them to represent me in a construction defect case. He never did anything and then sent me a letter saying he cannot represent me since he never agreed to represent me. But in the same letter he said I never paid the retainer. Why would he ask for a retainer if he never agreed to repersent me? They also tried to bill me for speaking with an attorney when I called to talk to the receptioist about a previous bill. She just patched me through to the attorney. I never asked to speak to the attorney, yet they tried to bill me for the call. Many attorneys are bad and this guy fits right in that category.

With the fear of jail and disruption of my family life , I had a public defender that didn't seem to care much about my outcome, after a quick Google search I found Nona , the initial sticker price for a competent lawyer was a shock , but in the end Nona was very informative and tough with the prosecuting attorneys. Everyone was held accountable. After a very stressful period Nona got me the best possible outcome I could have hoped for , where the public defender said minimum jail time, Nona ended the case with no jail time. He has the experience and knows the in and outs of the law , and as a plus he has close professional relationships with everyone that will be involved with your case. I can't recommend Nona enough. If you have the option to pay for representation Nona is the choice. Nona's paralegal Lisa Wilson was beyond helpful as well, constantly reminding me of my appointments and playing tag with phone calls. She was a line of communication when it was needed. And Always with a positive deminor .

I recently went thru the divorce process with Jeremy (Carr) as my attorney. For the entirety of the process Jeremy and the rest of the Clark and Feeney staff were amazing. They were proactive in submitting and responding to "counter offers" from my ex-husband and his attorney. My divorce was not quick, nor simple, and yet I have zero complaints about how Jeremy and Darla handled the situation. I didn't feel overcharged, manipulated, ignored, or cheated - I felt like they were absolutely vested in helping me achieve the best results I could hope for. Jeremy advocated in the best interests of both myself AND my children and made sure the divorce decree covered all our bases. While I hope to never need a lawyer again, I would hands down return to Clark and Feeney, Jeremy Carr, and his staff. I would also not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of representation.

I’ve worked with Clark and Feeney three times now, and each experience has been excellent. Most recently, I had the pleasure of working with attorney Sam Harrich for a DUI case. From the start, it was clear this charge was completely unjust, and Sam handled it brilliantly. This was Sam’s first jury trial, but you’d never know it. He was exceptionally prepared, confident, and strategic throughout. He kept the defense on their toes, exposed significant flaws in the prosecution’s case, and made the lead police officer’s credibility crumble on the stand. I also want to mention how helpful his assistant, Courtney, was throughout the process. She was organized, communicative, and made sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. On top of their strong performance, the firm’s billing was transparent, and the case was completed for the agreed-upon amount—no surprises. Sam Harrich and the staff at Clark and Feeney, thank you so much!!

I just called to get some information about getting help with some custody issues and the person who answered the phone told me "all the paperwork is online for free, and unless your a victim of domestic violence we will not help you" told me good luck and hung up the phone, if you only do domestic violence then you should probably list that on the website and be a tiny bit more respectful to people when talking to them.

Obviously, the victims don't even cross the minds of this prosecutor. We don't matter. I was the victim of a man that decided to run a red light at full speed. He did this in front of at least 5 witnesses that signed statements for the police. After hitting me, he didn't stop. He didn't make sure I wasn't injured or anything. He hit me so hard his bumper with his license plate fell off. I had a family member following me because they had dropped me off to pick up my car. They followed the man that hit me until the police could get there. The man gave the police false information regarding insurance. He had none. The police have the ability to look that up. They have looked mine up obviously, they didn't bother. When it came time for his appearance in court, the man didn't appear and a warrant was issued. I had contacted the prosecutors office several times inquiring information about why this man wasn't immediately arrested and taken to jail for hit and run, why was he not ticketed for no insurance? I called to see if they had caught him since he had a warrant for not showing up for court. I periodically looked up the man on court to see if there had been any developments. Last night I looked it up and learned that he had finally been picked up and went to court. I wasn't informed by anyone. I had to reduce my insurance to liability because of the cost. When I called my insurance I hadn't requested coverage for uninsured motorists. I didn't know that you had to request it. I don't have the funds to repair my car. I don't have the funds to hire an attorney to sue this man civilly, even if I did he would have a pretty good argument because the criminal case was dropped. He's responsible for NOTHING. No ticket for running a stoplight, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, lying to police, and not showing up for court. This prosecutor failed to protect the people he works for.. Absolutely unexcusable. I have no faith in our judicial system. It's corrupt and their agenda is NOT upholding the law and protecting law abiding citizens.

Very unprofessional. Used her cell phone in court for her documents and her phone dies during hearing. Items that should have been on bankruptcy were not included and items that were supposed to be excluded were included. I would not recommend her as your attorney. Go with someone else'. I had to fix her screw ups myself she wouldn't be bothered. Waste of money and time.

If you're reading this, that means you are likely a victim of a crime in the City of Pocatello. I apologize as you will receive terrible service and be treated horribly throughout your entire process with this office. From the PD to the prosecution whether it is city or county, this place is a joke. I have never seen a PD or prosecutor with this low of a rating. Now that I have experienced this office firsthand as a victim, my vehicle was stolen and totaled and I requested the victim's rights and restitution. This office blatantly ignored my right to be present at sentencing as well as give my victim impact statement. They also dismissed the UUMV charge without consulting me and dropped the destruction of property (over 35k worth of damage to my vehicle) to disturbing the peace without consulting me. This office is a joke. I work in the justice system and have never seen a case so mishandled. Good luck if you are working with this office, I wish you better luck than I had!!

What a Government Lawyer Can Do for You

A government lawyer specializes in legal issues related to government policies, regulations, and disputes involving public entities. Whether you are a private individual, business, or government agency, a government lawyer provides expert guidance on navigating the complexities of government law. These attorneys handle cases ranging from constitutional law, administrative law, regulatory compliance, and government contracts to defending or challenging government actions.

Government lawyers help individuals and organizations understand their rights and obligations under the law, represent them in disputes with government agencies, and assist in matters of government contracting, procurement, or public policy.

When Should I Hire a Government Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a government lawyer in several situations involving government regulations, compliance, or disputes. Common reasons to hire a government lawyer include:

  • Government contracts and procurement: If you are bidding for or negotiating a contract with a government agency, a lawyer can help ensure compliance with federal, state, or local contracting rules.
  • Regulatory compliance: Businesses operating in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, environmental sectors) often need legal guidance to comply with government regulations and avoid penalties.
  • Government investigations: If you're being investigated by a government agency such as the IRS, SEC, or EPA, a government lawyer can help defend you against allegations or negotiate settlements.
  • Challenging government actions: If a government agency has denied a permit, license, or benefit, a lawyer can help you appeal or challenge the decision in court.
  • Constitutional and civil rights issues: If you believe your constitutional rights have been violated by a government entity, such as in cases involving free speech or discrimination, a government lawyer can help you seek justice.
  • Public policy or lobbying efforts: If you are involved in lobbying or advocating for policy changes at the local, state, or federal level, a government lawyer can provide legal advice on compliance with lobbying laws and strategies for effective advocacy.

Hiring a government lawyer early in the process can help you navigate complex legal frameworks and avoid costly mistakes when dealing with government-related legal issues.

What Does a Government Lawyer Do?

A government lawyer provides a wide range of services that cover interactions between individuals, businesses, and government entities. They can:

  • Assist with government contracts: Helping clients navigate procurement laws, drafting contracts, and resolving disputes related to government contracting.
  • Provide regulatory compliance advice: Offering guidance on meeting regulatory requirements for industries subject to federal, state, or local laws.
  • Handle administrative law matters: Representing clients before government agencies, such as appealing administrative decisions, applying for permits, or defending against regulatory enforcement actions.
  • Challenge or defend government actions: Representing clients in lawsuits involving government agencies, including constitutional challenges, civil rights violations, or disputes over government decisions.
  • Negotiate settlements with government entities: If a government agency is pursuing legal action against you or your business, a lawyer can negotiate settlements to avoid costly litigation.
  • Advocate for policy changes: Advising clients on legal strategies for influencing public policy, including lobbying and drafting legislation.
  • Litigate constitutional issues: Handling cases related to the Constitution, such as First Amendment rights, due process violations, or unlawful government actions.

How Are Government Lawyers Paid?

Government lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the nature of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: For ongoing legal matters, such as regulatory compliance or government contract disputes, lawyers may charge by the hour. Hourly rates can vary depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as drafting a government contract or filing an administrative appeal, some lawyers charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: For clients who need ongoing legal support, such as businesses frequently interacting with government agencies, a lawyer may charge a retainer fee. This is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.
  • Contingency fee: In some cases involving litigation, such as civil rights violations, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case.

It’s important to discuss fee structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Government Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a government lawyer depends on the complexity of the legal issue, the lawyer's experience, and their fee structure. Here are some general cost estimates:

  • Hourly rates: Government lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For specific legal services, such as drafting a government contract, flat fees can range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the nature of the service.
  • Retainer fees: A retainer for ongoing legal work with government agencies can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the scope and frequency of the work.
  • Contingency fees: In cases where a lawyer works on contingency, their fee is usually a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or damages awarded if the case is successful.

Be sure to get a clear estimate of costs during your consultation to ensure that you understand the fees associated with your case.

Top Questions to Ask a Government Lawyer

When hiring a government lawyer, it’s essential to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and skills needed for your specific situation. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What is your experience with government law cases?
Make sure the lawyer has substantial experience in handling cases or issues involving government agencies, regulatory compliance, or constitutional law.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services - whether by the hour, flat fee, retainer, or contingency fee - and request an estimate of costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your legal options and the likelihood of success based on your specific situation.
  4. How do you handle interactions with government agencies?
Ask about their approach to dealing with government entities and their experience with specific agencies relevant to your case (e.g., IRS, EPA, SEC).
  5. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Ask about their experience with similar cases and whether they have achieved favorable outcomes in the past.
  6. Who will handle my case?
Clarify whether the lawyer you are meeting with will personally handle your case or whether junior attorneys or paralegals will do most of the work.

How to Check the Credibility of a Government Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a reputable government lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Review their professional experience: Look for specific experience in government-related legal issues, such as regulatory compliance, government contracts, or administrative law, on their website or professional profile.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check online reviews and ratings on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to get insight into the lawyer’s reputation and track record.
  • Ask for references: Request references from previous clients who have worked with the lawyer on government-related matters to understand their experience and effectiveness.
  • Check for membership in relevant organizations: Look for memberships in professional organizations such as the American Bar Association's Administrative Law Section or the National Institute of Government Procurement, which can indicate the lawyer’s focus on government law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a government lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant information and documents. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Detailed description of your legal issue: Be prepared to explain your situation, whether it’s a regulatory compliance question, a government contract issue, or a dispute with a government agency.
  • Relevant documents: Bring any paperwork related to your case, such as contracts, permits, letters from government agencies, or notices of investigation.
  • A list of questions: Write down any questions you have about your case, including the legal process, potential outcomes, and costs.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any relevant events, such as the issuance of government orders or interactions with government agencies.
  • Goals for the outcome: Be ready to discuss what you hope to achieve, whether it’s a favorable settlement, regulatory compliance, or overturning a government decision.

By being organized and prepared, you can help your lawyer understand your situation more quickly and give you the best legal advice moving forward.
