Thank God for Mr. McELHINNE, my son was in serious trouble and looking at prison time. The police had the wrong man and did not make any attempt to find the truth. In the end he was finally cleared, I know in my heart it was all because of Mr. McELHINNE. God bless him, I am forever indebted to him. He makes Perry Mason look like an amateur.

I had very negative experiences using this firm. I had a very straightforward case that this firm had for several years. They neglected to move my case forward and kept assigning me to new associates until finally after like 20k in legal fees they sent me a letter saying they wouldn’t represent me anymore because their associate was leaving their firm. I found a new attorney that had my case settled in a matter of a couple months for a fraction of the cost. My new attorney couldn’t believe how poorly my case was handled. If you like paying bills and seeing your case go nowhere then you’ve found a great fit. If that’s not your thing keep looking.

I have to do a shout out for my lawyer, Donald Kochersberger. I am a business professional, and we do need to have a lawyer on retention for whatever may arise in your business! I have gotten assistance with many different issues that I thought I would never even need to hire legal counsel. Very efficient billing system, response is immediate, projected outcomes are detailed in different scenarios, extremely detailed in the simplest and the most intricate necessities that need to be explained to his clients! If any patient of mine has ever needed, any suggestion for legal counsel, advice I would only work with this group and only with Don. This review is respectfully submitted, Dr. Beth Davis

Mr. Sanchez is an excellent attorney. My son was referred to by other people to Mr. Sanchez. We hired him on and he did a wonderful job. My son is free and is able to live his life without any stress. Having a good attorney when you know you're innocent helps so much and this guy wouldn't weigh above and beyond to help my son. Thank you Mr. Sanchez. You're the best!

She's ran with the big boys previously 😉 and now she's on her own by choice she'll run with the bulls for her clients. In my opinion she's one of if not the Best (great record of wins with me)

When I first contacted Mr. Dunn and his team to discuss my Workers' Comp. claim, I wasn't sure what to expect. I figured it would be this long, drawn out process and I would just be another number. This was definitely not the case. I spoke with Mr. Dunn and he listened. He understood my issues. He researched my claim thoroughly and explained everything to me in detail. Every question I had was answered promptly. I felt confident and informed every step of the way. Mr. Dunn and Angela were very professional and caring. Thank you again to Mr. Dunn and his team.

We came to Dunn Law Offices in 2017 with a complex and difficult Workman Compensation case as we were referred to Rod and Rodney Dunn “being told they are the best Lawyers with extensive experience and expertise in these matters.” Rod, Rodney and their wonderful paralegal Angela took on this case “even with the unknown outcome.” We knew this case was going to be complicated and they worked with us with understanding, compassion, great knowledge, extensive research, tireless hours and so much dedication; despite the numerous hurdles throughout the years. “They never gave up” Words cannot express the gratitude we have and we were very fortunate to have them represent my son on his Dads behalf. “Because of their hard work the outcome was worth it!” We would 💯% recommend Dunn Law Offices We will miss you!

If you’re someone who’s thinking about hiring a firm to represent you in filing for disability here in NM, stop thinking about it and make the call. Ben and his team worked with me from initial filing all the way through to winning my case via hearing. They made it simple and painless, and always seemed to be one step ahead at every milestone of the process. They are extremely professional and also make you feel like you have a full team behind you that really cares about you and your case. 100% recommend them to anyone thinking of hiring a disability attorney and I would hire them again in a heartbeat if needed.

If "putting people first" means helping your rich, white former state senate buddy sue his son for what amounts to a year of annual income, then this is the attorney for you. Edit: I never claimed to be your client. I'm just warning people that your claim to "fight for the underdog" is demonstrably false based on personal experience.

I would like to share my experience with Samantha Day represented my family with our late parents will 2023 and 2024. She was very understanding, helpful explaining the procedures. I live in Colorado. My brother in person and myself on the phone Samantha had no problem doing this for us. Timing for the meetings she was open to when we could do them. She was in touch with us consistently. We never had to wonder what was going on. If we had a question she responded immediately. My brother and myself were so pleased with her work ,we both have had her do our own trusts. She is licensed in Colorado. My health and grief had kept me from going to Albuquerque. Samantha did my trust over the phone and email. Again she did this with her caring and knowledge. I would recommend her to anyone needing wills or trusts. Thank you Samantha, hope we can meet someday. Lyneta J Pittsford

Hello. I had a very unpleasant experience with Will Jenkins. Just because he passed the BAR and is well-versed in legal and lawyer jargon does not give him the right to bully me or speak to me in a disrespectful fashion. I text him with a few qus re: personal property on a transaction he was overseeing and he started throwing words out like "breach of contract allows us to void the contract", "im still allowing you to pick it up at this point", and "pick it up at this time or im selling it to someone else... All because i had concerns and asked a few simple questions. I then went in to make a final pymt. I told him i didnt appreciate him being disrespectful and bullying me prior in those texts and that id like to speak to the Senior Partner to express my concerns. He says "you bullied a woman", "im a partner, the senior partner is not available, you can talk to me" "Hes going to side with me anyways" I told him ill never do business here nor will i refer anyone. The cherry on top-- he proceeds to say: " WHO CARES; WE'LL BE SUCCESSFUL ANYWAY" lol what kind of legitimate, professional law firm does business like that? Do they really engage the community and perspective clients like that? I was blown away. I even emailed the Senior Partner. He never responded. I guess he did side with him... Oh well. We regret choosing this firm to prepare our trust. It has been 7 months and it is still not finalized. They do not respond to emails in a timely manner, if at all. I question their competence, professionalism and ethics. I strongly recommend finding another firm.

I wish I had read the review from Kent P before I even called this firm. When I first called and spoke to someone regarding my case I was encouraged when i was told that I would be able to do a video chat with an attorney. I did the chat with Margaret Graham on the pre arranged video call. I discussed my situation with Ms Graham. She advised me to write a letter to my brother before I went further, primarily because I expressed to her that I was not sure how to proceed because my father is a 92 year old purple heart veteran and I did not want to stress him more than my brother had. This was a case of exploitation. My older brother had taken steps to take control of my parents estate which included falsly claiming I was stealing from my Dad so he could gain control. In his process he not only removed me as POA but he got my father to sign documnets making him a joint tenant on the properties. He has also kept me from seeing my Dad. I told Ms Graham I was not interested in the property but wanted to be able to see my Dad. Ms. Graham advised me if I was unable to resolve this with the letter I could call her back and she would file. Since I was unable to resolve the issues with the letter. I called her office letting them know that I was unable to resove the issue and upon her request I was calling back to hire her to file and help me move forward. I was given an appointent for Oct. 10 @ 1:15. Today Sept 25 I received a phone call from intake to let me know that they wanted me to know that I did not have an appointment and that the firm was no longer accepting any new clients. When I told the young lady about the video call with Ms, Graham and the pre set appointment she proceeded to tell me There was no record of my having the video call nor did I have an appointment on Oct 10. What confused me, is why call me to tell me they wanted to make sure I knew I didn't have an appointment. And where did she suddenly come up with my name and number. If this never happened why call me? I am so upset because I have not seen my Dad in a year now because I have not been able to find an attorney! I Was so excited that Ms. Graham had given me advise (free consultation) and agreed to help me if the letter did not work. I don't know how much longer my Dad has and I am missing out on his last years. I am so sad that I am being told I never had the teleconferance nor did I ever have an appointent. I was told that it could not have happened, yet I fully recall what Ms. Graham looks like. I know it was not any other firm because I double checked the web page and found the photo of Ms Graham. I know I did not make the call up. I now have to start all over again to find and attorney with the clock ticking on my time with my Dad. I am so very upset especially at being accused of not ever having had that conference call. I was also interested in having this firm handle my estate plan. I am prepared to pay a retainer and hourly fees if it gets my father back before he passes. I just don’t understand how this could happened when I did as Ms. Graham instructed. I even had to wait because I couldn’t get an earlier appointment. I now have learned I have to start all over again. Why was I not notified sooner they couldn’t take me as a client. And why did they give me an appointment in the first place?

My call and potential case were quickly screened by the receptionist/legal assistant, and I was told she would pass my information to the legal team/attorneys to review. A few days later I received a call back that the legal team would not offer me a free consultation with no explanation. I asked if I could be referred anywhere in the area that could help with legal advice. She could not give me any information, resources, and did not call me back when I asked for an hourly rate to have legal advice and questions answered. I felt left in the dark and would not recommend this law firm.

I could write pages on the incredibly positive experience my mom and I had with Brian Egolf, Heather Tanner, and the staff at Egolf+Ferlic+Martinez+Harwood law firm. I reached out to them in the most devastating moment in our life when my mom and I lost my brother, Patrick, due to what we believed was because of the negligent care he received by two medical facilities. Brian immediately set up a call to gather information and moved forward with filing a wrongful death case. Over the course of the next two years, we worked with Brian and Heather through an emotionally difficult journey of grieving the loss of our favorite person in the world, while trying to find justice for him. Not only were they impeccable and diligent in working the case for us and Patrick, but they helped us heal with their consistent compassion, empathy, and kindness. They worked the case like it was for their own family member bringing their heart to the case. They put in an incredible amount of time and energy, and they hired a top-notch medical expert. We will be forever grateful and highly recommend them for any legal circumstances a person may be facing.

We hired her as our initial attorney, paid everything in full in regards to a child custody/relocation case. We were told our case would not go in our favor if we continued and that relocation cases are difficult, didn’t know why we were trying in the first place etc etc. We are happy to report that, after firing Melanie, we successfully won our case that was supposed to be “impossible to win”, and living together as a happy family out of state. I do not recommend this attorney for any family law cases.

I have had the misfortune to need the services of a number of different legal firms in the past and I can confidently say that this was one of the best, if not the best, experience I have had. From being very responsive to any questions and concerns I had, being very clear about the options and possible outcomes, I simply couldn't ask for better. The work was absolutely great and the outcome was the best possible. I highly recommend them to everyone looking for an excellent and exceptionally knowledgeable legal representative.

Calvin is an excellent attorney. He handled a car accident case where I got rear-ended while sitting at a light, and was able to negotiate a nice settlement before even having to file a lawsuit. I'd highly recommend Calvin and his team to anyone needing legal help.

What a Government Lawyer Can Do for You

A government lawyer specializes in legal issues related to government policies, regulations, and disputes involving public entities. Whether you are a private individual, business, or government agency, a government lawyer provides expert guidance on navigating the complexities of government law. These attorneys handle cases ranging from constitutional law, administrative law, regulatory compliance, and government contracts to defending or challenging government actions.

Government lawyers help individuals and organizations understand their rights and obligations under the law, represent them in disputes with government agencies, and assist in matters of government contracting, procurement, or public policy.

When Should I Hire a Government Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a government lawyer in several situations involving government regulations, compliance, or disputes. Common reasons to hire a government lawyer include:

  • Government contracts and procurement: If you are bidding for or negotiating a contract with a government agency, a lawyer can help ensure compliance with federal, state, or local contracting rules.
  • Regulatory compliance: Businesses operating in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, environmental sectors) often need legal guidance to comply with government regulations and avoid penalties.
  • Government investigations: If you're being investigated by a government agency such as the IRS, SEC, or EPA, a government lawyer can help defend you against allegations or negotiate settlements.
  • Challenging government actions: If a government agency has denied a permit, license, or benefit, a lawyer can help you appeal or challenge the decision in court.
  • Constitutional and civil rights issues: If you believe your constitutional rights have been violated by a government entity, such as in cases involving free speech or discrimination, a government lawyer can help you seek justice.
  • Public policy or lobbying efforts: If you are involved in lobbying or advocating for policy changes at the local, state, or federal level, a government lawyer can provide legal advice on compliance with lobbying laws and strategies for effective advocacy.

Hiring a government lawyer early in the process can help you navigate complex legal frameworks and avoid costly mistakes when dealing with government-related legal issues.

What Does a Government Lawyer Do?

A government lawyer provides a wide range of services that cover interactions between individuals, businesses, and government entities. They can:

  • Assist with government contracts: Helping clients navigate procurement laws, drafting contracts, and resolving disputes related to government contracting.
  • Provide regulatory compliance advice: Offering guidance on meeting regulatory requirements for industries subject to federal, state, or local laws.
  • Handle administrative law matters: Representing clients before government agencies, such as appealing administrative decisions, applying for permits, or defending against regulatory enforcement actions.
  • Challenge or defend government actions: Representing clients in lawsuits involving government agencies, including constitutional challenges, civil rights violations, or disputes over government decisions.
  • Negotiate settlements with government entities: If a government agency is pursuing legal action against you or your business, a lawyer can negotiate settlements to avoid costly litigation.
  • Advocate for policy changes: Advising clients on legal strategies for influencing public policy, including lobbying and drafting legislation.
  • Litigate constitutional issues: Handling cases related to the Constitution, such as First Amendment rights, due process violations, or unlawful government actions.

How Are Government Lawyers Paid?

Government lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the nature of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: For ongoing legal matters, such as regulatory compliance or government contract disputes, lawyers may charge by the hour. Hourly rates can vary depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as drafting a government contract or filing an administrative appeal, some lawyers charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: For clients who need ongoing legal support, such as businesses frequently interacting with government agencies, a lawyer may charge a retainer fee. This is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.
  • Contingency fee: In some cases involving litigation, such as civil rights violations, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case.

It’s important to discuss fee structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Government Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a government lawyer depends on the complexity of the legal issue, the lawyer's experience, and their fee structure. Here are some general cost estimates:

  • Hourly rates: Government lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For specific legal services, such as drafting a government contract, flat fees can range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the nature of the service.
  • Retainer fees: A retainer for ongoing legal work with government agencies can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the scope and frequency of the work.
  • Contingency fees: In cases where a lawyer works on contingency, their fee is usually a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or damages awarded if the case is successful.

Be sure to get a clear estimate of costs during your consultation to ensure that you understand the fees associated with your case.

Top Questions to Ask a Government Lawyer

When hiring a government lawyer, it’s essential to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and skills needed for your specific situation. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What is your experience with government law cases?
Make sure the lawyer has substantial experience in handling cases or issues involving government agencies, regulatory compliance, or constitutional law.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services - whether by the hour, flat fee, retainer, or contingency fee - and request an estimate of costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your legal options and the likelihood of success based on your specific situation.
  4. How do you handle interactions with government agencies?
Ask about their approach to dealing with government entities and their experience with specific agencies relevant to your case (e.g., IRS, EPA, SEC).
  5. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Ask about their experience with similar cases and whether they have achieved favorable outcomes in the past.
  6. Who will handle my case?
Clarify whether the lawyer you are meeting with will personally handle your case or whether junior attorneys or paralegals will do most of the work.

How to Check the Credibility of a Government Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a reputable government lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Review their professional experience: Look for specific experience in government-related legal issues, such as regulatory compliance, government contracts, or administrative law, on their website or professional profile.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check online reviews and ratings on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to get insight into the lawyer’s reputation and track record.
  • Ask for references: Request references from previous clients who have worked with the lawyer on government-related matters to understand their experience and effectiveness.
  • Check for membership in relevant organizations: Look for memberships in professional organizations such as the American Bar Association's Administrative Law Section or the National Institute of Government Procurement, which can indicate the lawyer’s focus on government law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a government lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant information and documents. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Detailed description of your legal issue: Be prepared to explain your situation, whether it’s a regulatory compliance question, a government contract issue, or a dispute with a government agency.
  • Relevant documents: Bring any paperwork related to your case, such as contracts, permits, letters from government agencies, or notices of investigation.
  • A list of questions: Write down any questions you have about your case, including the legal process, potential outcomes, and costs.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any relevant events, such as the issuance of government orders or interactions with government agencies.
  • Goals for the outcome: Be ready to discuss what you hope to achieve, whether it’s a favorable settlement, regulatory compliance, or overturning a government decision.

By being organized and prepared, you can help your lawyer understand your situation more quickly and give you the best legal advice moving forward.
