Stephanie E. DiVittore is incompetent. Retain her if you'd like to lose. She will charge you 3 times what other attorneys cost and lose the case for you. Before she loses though, she will offer to represent you for free when the inevitable loss occurs. I can only recommend you work with these guys if you're interested in losing. Have a great day folks.

I've had the experience of using multiple immigration lawyers in the last few months. Joel was BY FAR the most efficient, honest, and effective I've encountered. I recommend him to anyone looking to be properly taken care of in the quickest and most cost efficient manner. I'd give 10 stars but Joel will have to settle for 5 😁

I hired Frank Kosir.jr unfortunately for a dispute with CSX railroad unfortunately. All this man did is take my money with no action. I paid for a complete deed search and after he completed it, I was told I have no rights to cross the railroad tracks. I took maters into my own hands and did a deed search on my own and found all my rights that he said I did not have. I do not understand how I was able to find all my rights with no experience in this field after paying this firm. He wasted over 7 months of my time with no action. I was charged thousands of dollars with no action. I feel this man is corrupt, be careful

Horriblle Lawyer, I paid her at $1500 retainer fee. We talked for five minutes. I was never charged and she robbed me of my money so now I’m taking it to civil court. Also, before you try to purchase this lawyer, since I didn’t know, I think it’s fair that you know that that she used to work for the D.A…. She’s trying to tell me that she spent hours on the phone with troopers which is 100% a lie. My car was impounded and I’m the one who hunted the troopers down every day to make sure that I got my car back. I promise you if you were looking for a lawyer, choose anyone but this one

Makes no sense. Avoid wasting your time.

Michael Hawley creates an atmosphere of ill will where opposing family members never heal from his abrasive techniques. In our consultation Michael Hawley described the wall of protection he provides his clients. He wants everything to go through him and the opposing attorney, which racks up fees for both parties. The reason we did not hire him were his references. His aggressive style stops communication and stops the progress of cases. He recommends to ask and push for everything, and then you have a better chance of getting more. My mother's will gave my sister a specific ring and Michael Hawley said don't give it to her. Make her fight for it. We had other disputes, but that was not one of them. He did not respect the wishes of the deceased. It was my sister who I was having a disagreement with, but some areas of mother's will were very clear. My goal was to settle the disputed areas, not have a division so wide so that my sister & I never speak again. His references said, he created such hard feelings that the family never spoke again.

Michael Hawley represented me in a complicated family estate matter which had family members against family members. His counsel was straightforward and sincere and he helped me separate the facts from the emotion. In the end, he helped me overcome the hurdles and get what was rightfully mine. The second time I hired Michael was for an employment case. Again, he successfully represented me and was able to negotiate a much larger severance package than that which I had been offered. Highly recommended!

I hired Michael Hawley on two separate occasions for cases completely unrelated. The first, was a complicated case that had been botched by the first attorney I hired. I had a lot on the line and Hawley came through with flying colors. Not only did he win the case for me, but I was able to live my life without disruption while he handled everything. Again, Michael Hawley successfully handled every aspect of my second case while I continued on with my life. When it gets down to having to hire an attorney to settle a dispute, the process can be turbulent. Michael Hawley served as a wall between the turmoil and me while delivering wins on both occasions. If you are looking for an attorney who is competent and who will have your back, Michael Hawley should be your number one choice!

Michael met with my wife and me at least three separate times, as we updated our wills, power of attorney and advanced healthcare directive. Before we even discussed the "paperwork", he was so careful to discuss all of the alternatives on trustees, investment considerations and our own personal needs and directives. Never once did we feel like we were being handed a "boiler plate" or "cookie cutter" solution to our wills and other estate matters. The staff at Pierce/Hughes was extremely attentive and followed through with meeting arrangements, copies of the needed paperwork and other items to make this necessary process bearable.Through Mike and his team, we have been able to achieve peace of mind and also know that he will be there in the future for us and our children if needed.

I entered a case agreement in January 2013 and paid a retainer to have my case started. After numerous unreturned phone calls and nothing being done I reset and appointment December 2014 and was at that point just planning to have my retainer returned. Two years of waiting is unexceptable business practice to nearly any company. After setting a new appointment a complaint was filed against the defendant and a phone call was made to this lawyer offering a poor settlement. In the ensuing three months since numerous calls have been made and I finally stopping calling after being told "he is with a client" or out of the office. Voicemails that I left from over two weeks ago have yet to be returned to me. I feel this lawyer has no interest in doing this case despite taking my payments. I would highly recommend anyone needing a lawyer to not use McKnight law firm

I hired John, approx. 2005, to represent me to protect my property from damage that could occur from a developer. I have a 1710 bank home and barn. He came to my property, took pictures, went to the township building and took pictures of the developer's plans and attended township meetings. He instructed me to take pictures and document as much as I can. I hired him because of my lack of knowledge and my busy lifestyle. During the 2 yrs. there was nothing but meetings which John attended. 2007 he took a job with HUD which lasted 2 yrs. When he returned building started aand I needed John again to protect me. Make a long story short, our last meeting he asked me for $24,000.00 on top of what I had already given him. I suggested we try and deal with E. Goshen supervisors one way before we proceed with his suggestion. I found out after that visit that he never contacted the supervisors and never did anything he said he did. When I finally talked with him he told me the Post Office lost all the letters to the supervisors and my copy of the letters .He did not return my phone calls for 2 mos. but sent back a very small amount of a file consisting of yrs. of work he was to do for me, and because he did nothing for me, re. the development, I have irreparable damage done to my property plus the money he took from me, and not one copy of any letters or copies of all the minutes from the E.Goshen meetings. I worked with countless lawyers because of my business being international. I believed that John would take care of things without my having to call him constantly.

He won my case for me when other attorneys told me it couldn't be done! I certainly don't miss going to hearings at family court, but I do miss seeing and talking with Attorney Eric Yandrich! Dan Glasser isn't a good lawyer. I do NOT recommend him. He wasn't prepared for the trial. He yells at his own clients during the trial in front of everyone. He is very arrogant and thus isn't very effective lawyer. When you first talk to him, he presents himself as a very good lawyer but very soon you'll realize that it's just a show and in reality he isn't good.

Dan Glasser is a ruthless and atrocious lawyer who seemingly (to me) does not consider the effects on a child in custody litigation. Some people like ruthless and atrocious - if so he is your man. I admire his intellect (his accounting background is valuable), and ability to act (thus 2 stars and not 1 star). But in the end, the ones that suffer are kids...and he (and probably his firm) do not consider the pain caused to kids in my personal opinion. If you care about your kids steer clear. He will pit parties against each other to make money despite the impact on your kids. Email me if you want.

In February 2017, I hired and paid Mr. Rassman to draft and file a custody agreement for me. The draft took several months to finalize after multiple attempts to communicate with Mark. Eventually the final agreement was mailed to myself and my ex husband. We signed the agreement and mailed it back to Mark per his request. At that time Mr. Rassman told me he had received the signed copy and had filed it with our county court. Several more months went by with me requesting an update from Mark on the status of my custody agreement. Eventually I called the court myself and ask for an update. At that time I was informed there was no custody agreement under my last name. I immediately contacted Mr. Rassman via phone, text and email but never heard from him again. I attempted to hold Mark accountable by taking him to small claims court but he never appeared for our scheduled date. Unfortunately more than 2 years later, I still do not have a custody agreement and I have never been reimbursed.

I am a client of Mr. Work since he represents the estate of my parents of which I am a primary beneficiary. I help pay his fees since he has deducted fees from assets of which I have or will inherit. Mr. Work drafted wills, contracts, and trusts which in almost every case have been self contradicting or unclear, and have required much expense by my family to clear up. Mr. Work is very difficult to communicate with because many of my requests for crucial financial information have been ignored or greatly delayed. Many times I have asked for two or more pieces of information, and I will only get one or none. He refused to give me crucial financial information on a building such as annual rent and insurance coverage that I was required to sell to a sibling for "fair market value". After about a month of laborious personal investigation, I found the rental numbers and notified Mr. Work. Then and only then, he came forward and released the rental numbers. He never released the insured value of the property as requested. MY OPINION ONLY

Would not recommend if you want something done right away......I worked with Attorney Setley in order to get unemployment after my job had denied it for me and he won the case, so in that regard he did great....then he was working with me regarding a custody case and it was going very well at first but then he started giving the work to another lawyer in the firm without even letting me know. I understand lawyers get busy and I did not have a problem with another lawyer doing some of the work, but I was paying HIM. Did not answer emails right away or return phone calls right away either. Said he would get the custody order modified "ASAP" and sent out for our signatures (and also charged me $50 to READ the email saying what changes needed to be made and then did absolutely nothing with it)....that was THREE months ago, never heard another word from him. In the meantime my ex-husband and I modified the order and are submitting it ourselves through mediation because this was not the first time he said he would take care of something right away and didn't and we've been wanting to get this moving. I've heard the several people say the same thing about this particular firm, they are more than happy to take your money but clients are not happy with the results, especially regarding family law. I feel like I've wasted a lot of money for nothing.

What a Government Lawyer Can Do for You

A government lawyer specializes in legal issues related to government policies, regulations, and disputes involving public entities. Whether you are a private individual, business, or government agency, a government lawyer provides expert guidance on navigating the complexities of government law. These attorneys handle cases ranging from constitutional law, administrative law, regulatory compliance, and government contracts to defending or challenging government actions.

Government lawyers help individuals and organizations understand their rights and obligations under the law, represent them in disputes with government agencies, and assist in matters of government contracting, procurement, or public policy.

When Should I Hire a Government Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a government lawyer in several situations involving government regulations, compliance, or disputes. Common reasons to hire a government lawyer include:

  • Government contracts and procurement: If you are bidding for or negotiating a contract with a government agency, a lawyer can help ensure compliance with federal, state, or local contracting rules.
  • Regulatory compliance: Businesses operating in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, environmental sectors) often need legal guidance to comply with government regulations and avoid penalties.
  • Government investigations: If you're being investigated by a government agency such as the IRS, SEC, or EPA, a government lawyer can help defend you against allegations or negotiate settlements.
  • Challenging government actions: If a government agency has denied a permit, license, or benefit, a lawyer can help you appeal or challenge the decision in court.
  • Constitutional and civil rights issues: If you believe your constitutional rights have been violated by a government entity, such as in cases involving free speech or discrimination, a government lawyer can help you seek justice.
  • Public policy or lobbying efforts: If you are involved in lobbying or advocating for policy changes at the local, state, or federal level, a government lawyer can provide legal advice on compliance with lobbying laws and strategies for effective advocacy.

Hiring a government lawyer early in the process can help you navigate complex legal frameworks and avoid costly mistakes when dealing with government-related legal issues.

What Does a Government Lawyer Do?

A government lawyer provides a wide range of services that cover interactions between individuals, businesses, and government entities. They can:

  • Assist with government contracts: Helping clients navigate procurement laws, drafting contracts, and resolving disputes related to government contracting.
  • Provide regulatory compliance advice: Offering guidance on meeting regulatory requirements for industries subject to federal, state, or local laws.
  • Handle administrative law matters: Representing clients before government agencies, such as appealing administrative decisions, applying for permits, or defending against regulatory enforcement actions.
  • Challenge or defend government actions: Representing clients in lawsuits involving government agencies, including constitutional challenges, civil rights violations, or disputes over government decisions.
  • Negotiate settlements with government entities: If a government agency is pursuing legal action against you or your business, a lawyer can negotiate settlements to avoid costly litigation.
  • Advocate for policy changes: Advising clients on legal strategies for influencing public policy, including lobbying and drafting legislation.
  • Litigate constitutional issues: Handling cases related to the Constitution, such as First Amendment rights, due process violations, or unlawful government actions.

How Are Government Lawyers Paid?

Government lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the nature of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: For ongoing legal matters, such as regulatory compliance or government contract disputes, lawyers may charge by the hour. Hourly rates can vary depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as drafting a government contract or filing an administrative appeal, some lawyers charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: For clients who need ongoing legal support, such as businesses frequently interacting with government agencies, a lawyer may charge a retainer fee. This is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.
  • Contingency fee: In some cases involving litigation, such as civil rights violations, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case.

It’s important to discuss fee structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Government Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a government lawyer depends on the complexity of the legal issue, the lawyer's experience, and their fee structure. Here are some general cost estimates:

  • Hourly rates: Government lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For specific legal services, such as drafting a government contract, flat fees can range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the nature of the service.
  • Retainer fees: A retainer for ongoing legal work with government agencies can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the scope and frequency of the work.
  • Contingency fees: In cases where a lawyer works on contingency, their fee is usually a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or damages awarded if the case is successful.

Be sure to get a clear estimate of costs during your consultation to ensure that you understand the fees associated with your case.

Top Questions to Ask a Government Lawyer

When hiring a government lawyer, it’s essential to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and skills needed for your specific situation. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What is your experience with government law cases?
Make sure the lawyer has substantial experience in handling cases or issues involving government agencies, regulatory compliance, or constitutional law.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services - whether by the hour, flat fee, retainer, or contingency fee - and request an estimate of costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your legal options and the likelihood of success based on your specific situation.
  4. How do you handle interactions with government agencies?
Ask about their approach to dealing with government entities and their experience with specific agencies relevant to your case (e.g., IRS, EPA, SEC).
  5. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Ask about their experience with similar cases and whether they have achieved favorable outcomes in the past.
  6. Who will handle my case?
Clarify whether the lawyer you are meeting with will personally handle your case or whether junior attorneys or paralegals will do most of the work.

How to Check the Credibility of a Government Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a reputable government lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Review their professional experience: Look for specific experience in government-related legal issues, such as regulatory compliance, government contracts, or administrative law, on their website or professional profile.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check online reviews and ratings on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to get insight into the lawyer’s reputation and track record.
  • Ask for references: Request references from previous clients who have worked with the lawyer on government-related matters to understand their experience and effectiveness.
  • Check for membership in relevant organizations: Look for memberships in professional organizations such as the American Bar Association's Administrative Law Section or the National Institute of Government Procurement, which can indicate the lawyer’s focus on government law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a government lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant information and documents. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Detailed description of your legal issue: Be prepared to explain your situation, whether it’s a regulatory compliance question, a government contract issue, or a dispute with a government agency.
  • Relevant documents: Bring any paperwork related to your case, such as contracts, permits, letters from government agencies, or notices of investigation.
  • A list of questions: Write down any questions you have about your case, including the legal process, potential outcomes, and costs.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any relevant events, such as the issuance of government orders or interactions with government agencies.
  • Goals for the outcome: Be ready to discuss what you hope to achieve, whether it’s a favorable settlement, regulatory compliance, or overturning a government decision.

By being organized and prepared, you can help your lawyer understand your situation more quickly and give you the best legal advice moving forward.
