He is so irresponsive and unprofessional. He suggested to have a phone meeting and I gave him my schedule. He did not respond to me for 3 weeks despite my multiple follow up emails. I even called the office. He finally emailed back to me with the date for meeting and I responded back. He stopped responding to me again beyond the date of meeting. He keeps doing this for more than a month. I really need someone else who can actually work with me.

I cannot recommend Mr. Garcia highly enough. Mr. Garcia is experienced and has a thorough knowledge of Michigan and family law. I have been very grateful for the personal interest he has taken in my case, and the diligence with which he has represented my interests both inside and outside of court. In fact, I have walked away from court several times now with an outcome that is much better than I could have hoped was possible. Mr. Garcia is a "bulldog," but also one of the most thoughtful and ethical men I know. He is also honest and forthright in his counsel. If you hire him, listen to him carefully and take his advice! You will be very glad you did.

Lakeshore, illegal aid is a joke. Because we qualified for legal aid assistance to help us in our eviction case. My name is Robert Evans... My fiancé and my kids are disabled. She's high risk pregnancy and she has a high lateral hernia. The place where we're staying at is trying to pull fast ones with its residents and trying to evict us because my fiancé stood up for herself and told them that because someone broke in a trailer multiple times claiming they worked for westbridge and we chased them off .. She basely said in the email that she sent westbridge..that if they came in our house on our property, she would defend ourselves. And harm anyone who came in, including the staff because she didn't know who was breaking in our trailer.Them or someone claiming to work for them. Legal aid called us today after telling us last week that they'll let us know on Wednesday. The game plan on how to attack this and let us know who's gonna represent us on Wednesday and they just got on the phone with us today, saying that they don't have the funding to help 2 disabled kids and my disabled fiancé, who is high risk pregnancy. We need help. We qualify for legal aid and they're trying to say they can't help us. So if anyone is reading this that is above the director anita I would love for that person to get a hold of us at 419561566. Because. We're gonna inform the judge tomorrow. That legal aid of lakeshore turn us down, saying they claim that They don't have the resources and her exact words was. We can only help the 1%. We are the 1% we need help....

Do not waste your time and money on this guy and his helper. Once they get your money they will not answer your calls to keep you updated on your case so you will have to travel to them if you want answers and 9 out of 10 times they don't know what's going on and will just tell you to wait a little longer. The place is a mess and they can't find anything, they might even lose your paperwork and you'll have to gather it more than once. More than likely you will lose your case because this guy doesn't follow up to see it through. Two people I personally know, plus myself have lost our case because of this excuse of a lawyer.

Please do your research before hiring an immigration lawyer! We decided to reach out to Taft Law regarding an E2 business visa. We were told during our consultation that it would be around $6-8000. We talked it over and decided to go with them. We had a few more questions about the process in the next following days and we had told them we were going to go through with it and pay a retainer. After the first initial email we got from them me and my wife decided that we were no longer interested in pursuing that visa. Not because of the law firm but we decided that it was too risky of business for us and decided not to proceed. I sent them an email saying I was sorry and no longer wanted to proceed and apologized for wasting there time and that I was going to pay them for there time they had spent on our file. We had a 45 min consultation, a 15 min phone call followed by a 20 minute phone call. We had no idea that every second of each phone call was being billed out at $480/hour. Long story short they charged us $1740 for a Zoom Consultation, 2 phone calls and an email. And they said that price included things that they didn’t charge for as well, as if they were giving us a break at that price. I feel like they threw the charges at us only because we were no longer working with them. They quoted us 6-8k for the visa and they did about 5% of the work and billed us $1740? Something doesn’t add up. Unfair billing practices! I don’t expect them to work for FREE but $1740 for an email, 2 phone calls and a consultation is ridiculous. I would highly suggest you go elsewhere where they are more transparent with their prices. We are out the $1740 but it’s probably best as there quote of 6-8k would probably end up being 10-14k.

I contacted Garrett, for representation in a case. In which another attorney refered him to me so i gave this guy the Benefit of the Doubt because my other attorney before Garrett was also worthless. Then Come to find out I was in the same Boat once again!! With this attorney. Garrett does not and will not answer his calls or emails. Purposely ignores you, And/or if he does text back. Tells you he will call back by the end of the day. And never does. I've gone Months without a single text or call back. He Does not make his customers a priority or Number 1!! Which he should go above and Beyond for his customers!! With that being said his Customers are the ones that pays his Bills and Mortgage at his Home and firm! He will even go to the extreme of being Lackadaisical in which He Will/Did Not turn in the Judgement of the verdict to Court services. I owed the hospital for the birth of my son and some hospital bills for both my kids when they were really sick. I was served 2023 for part of it I paid it off in only a few months. I was served again this year for the rest of the amount I called right away and made arrangements and a payment. I missed a month they got a judgment to wipe out my whole account $1600. The next month I made another payment and couple days later found out they were now garnishing 25% of my checks. If I would have known I would have just not made a payment it’s pointless to even try. I tried talking to them and everything is my fault I didn’t return a document and they will just talk to you like you’re nothing. I didn’t remember needing to fill anything out and returning it I called and said I wanted to do this much a month and I got an okay. I remember calling the second month to make a payment and the lady told me you don’t have to call every month I can send you a link to pay and I started using the link.you have to be careful and keep track of all your receipts, I have a very bad memory and it could be me but I don’t remember missing any payments at all. Hopefully I don’t owe the hospital any more after this is done if I do I wont even bother trying they’re gonna just wipe you out anyways. I given them almost 3 thousand in the last two years and $1700 in the last two months and I have small children that are in daycare. At the end of the day I know I owe it but this is a lot in a short amount of time. Hopefully this helps someone else in a similar situation!

I hired Ronald Walker when my father was detained by immigration. He was very reassuring and branded himself extremely well. We hired him to help us get our father out of jail and represent him in immigration court. My father was deported very quickly and never went to court. Mr. Walker kept the $5,000 we paid him upfront because he visited my father once and spoke to Border Patrol and ICE ONCE! We were taken advantage of at a vulnerable time by a very unethical and dishonest person! I wish I would’ve done more research! The only thing Mr. Walker did was sent a request to ICE to release him where he misspelled my father’s name 4 times and our last name 6 times. This clearly indicated he is extremely careless! I certain the fees are excessive and down right unethical! Save yourself the heartache and pain of being lied to in your time of need!

My wife and I had a consultation with Mr. Walker and then we did hire him to work on our case. He informed us what we had to do and about the steps we had to take to fix our problem. We decided to do the first step with him. He told us how much it cost, but would never tell us how much the other steps would be. He kept saying "Let's just focus on this first step and if it gets approved, we'll talk about the next." We would've liked to know estimates of how much money we were looking at. The travel distance and money were an issue so we didn't continue with him. We did get an approval letter from Immigration about the first step he worked on. We noticed there was a mistake on the letter. The mistake was made either by him or Immigration. I called him up to see if he could make a phone call to immigration to find out if they made the mistake or if he did. He said, "Why would I further expand my work with you if you got a new attorney?" It's not further expanding his work with us. It's fixing a mistake that was made when he worked on our case that we already paid for. It's one phone call to see where the error was made. We already paid for the first step to get done right. We did get a new attorney closer to home, but Mr. Walker won't fix it for us because we aren't paying him anymore.

I had a highly disappointing experience with this attorney. I found his approach to be aggressive and, at times, seemingly unprofessional. There were instances where I felt he relied on questionable tactics to undermine opposing parties. Furthermore, his handling of sensitive matters left me feeling uncomfortable, as it appeared he was willing to defend individuals without regard for moral implications. In interactions, he seemed to prioritize his perspective over the established facts, which gave an impression of attempting to sway court proceedings regardless of the presented evidence. This approach raised concerns about his respect for the integrity of the judicial process. Overall, my experience with this attorney was unsettling due to what I perceived as an apparent disregard for ethical boundaries. I recommend exercising caution when going against him. In short: A chauvinistic slime ball who uses dirty tactics to defame his opposition. A compulsive liar who protects child abusers and alcoholic. The most amoral man I have ever come across. A thin skinned narcissist who goes as far as trying to put the integrity of judges and other attorneys in question . He goes the extra step to try to convince the court of his lies despite the evidence laid out. A lawyer that violates an unseen amount of morals and that in a 5 minute span

Our company engaged Ryan E. Lamb to handle breach of contract claims where clients were already notified, they just needed to be served lawsuits. In addition, he was to review our various contracts and bring to date. He promoted a "very experienced" collection team and we agreed that they would not be collected but sued for judgements. That did not happen. $10,045 bill later, no one was ever served, just sent collection letters. And the three different contracts he was to review separately and professionally alter separately, he combined into one big contract. An employee agreement, a client sales agreement and confidentiality agreement - what did he produce? One agreement that combined all three, we could not believe the level of inattention and issues we had. The firm offered no resolution, no apology, no refund, nothing. Be very cautious hiring this attorney, we had to hire competent counsel to get the jobs done.

I cant say enough negative about this lawyer. He was hired to defend a case where an employee left drugs in a company van which was in the back of the van in the tool box for that employee. According to rory himself the police officer made multiple mistakes in the search. there was a 1 hr. interview done by a detective and the police officer that was never noted or mentioned in the report. There was over 8 items in the police report that was incorrectly stated and reported. Some of which made me look as if i was not only guilty but as if i was a user of the drugs found. Prior to court dates rory told me and my wife REPEATEDLY that he was going to fight this case and get things taken care of. the day of my first court appearance instead of fighting the case i was not guilty for AS WE DISCUSSED he made a agreement with the prosecuter came back to me with the deal and then said its a btter option. HIS EXCUSE was that if we didnt take the offer and lost the judge WOULD most likely sentence me outside of the guidelines. thinking of my business and wife i assumed he had my best interest at hand. After we walked out of the court room he stopped to talk to me and my wife and said "even though i think we would have had no issues beating the case you taking the plea is a much better way to go." I couldnt believe this lazy ignorant kid was turning to me AFTER telling me i need to take the plea because im going to be sentenced out of the guidelines if he cant beat it...he then less than 20 mins later tells us he could have beat the case no problem!!!! On top of him not doing his job, i have had 2 back surgeries since 2005 i've been in a pain clinic where i get monthly injections, i do monthly physical therapy, and for over 12 years i have had THE EXACT SAME MEDICATION PRESCRIBED. Because of the case i have to do urine screens, rory has been in front of my judge 4 times each time me and my wife have basically had to BEG him to address the judge and get my medications okayed so they do not violate me. Not one single time did he address the court. I was violated for drug screens because the judge had not okayed the medications DUE TO RORY BEING AS LAZY AND IN EXPERIENCED AS HE IS. after the 4th court date when walking out me and my wife got mad and asked why he did not address the court AGAIN FOR THE FOURTH TIME. his answer was "do you want the judge to take us serious or not?" we couldn't believe that we actually heard that come out of a lawyers mouth! the situation made me so mad i told him i would be looking for a new laywer and walked out. to show his maturity rory twice made the comment to me "good luck". It was seriously like dealing with a college kid living with mom. Finally as if he couldnt get worse my case is still not done, he never addressed the court, MY DRUG SCREEN PERSON had to contact the judge the judge said he would give rory 24hrs to contact him and get my medications straight, all rory had to do was call and what does he do he DROPS ME AS A CLIENT when the case isnt even finished and still will not take care of something we have been asking him to do for 3 months. PLUS HE SENT ME A BILL FOR 300 more dollars when i paid him 900$ he has spent 2 hrs in court and not once put work into my case. We are taking him in court this week i recently found out this kid just recently graduated from law school which explains his complete ignorance. But you will clearly see when you meet him how he cant even take care of himself or his office so why would he be able to take care of anyone else. I should have listened to my wife!

Mr. Anderson was hired to represent me in trial for a dui that I was not guilty of. Its a long story but to make it short. I was in jail for 30 days and never was visited by or had any face to face contact with my attorney. I requested it over the phone to see him through family, but he would not return their calls and never came to consult with me his client he billed $2500. The two court three court dates that I had Mr Anderson was unprepaired and each time asked for an extension because he was not prepaired and though he had a month delay he never once visited me to ask me what happened and to tell me what we would need to get prepaired for trial. (Crazy thing is that his office is directly across the street from the courthouse and Jail, 3minute walk). Took my money, handled my case the way he and the judge( (Andrew Wierengo) he was in bed with wanted to handle it seeing as they both worked to put people in a probation program that they got paid per person they admitted. Very corrupt attorney and for that matter town. My telling him I was not guilty, my telling him my plea was not guilty, didnt make any difference. Not a good attorney. Unprepaired, did not keep me informed, not at all knowledgeable, not responsive, and no where near trustworthy. Very corrupt. BEWARE!!

What an Immigration Lawyer Can Do for You

An immigration lawyer specializes in helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the complex immigration process. These lawyers provide legal guidance on various immigration matters, such as obtaining visas, gaining permanent residency (green cards), applying for citizenship, and defending clients in deportation or removal proceedings. Immigration lawyers also assist with employment-based immigration, asylum applications, and resolving issues related to visas or immigration status.

Whether you're trying to immigrate to the U.S., facing deportation, or sponsoring an employee or family member for a visa, an immigration lawyer can help you understand your legal options and navigate the often complicated legal system.

When Should I Hire an Immigration Lawyer?

Hiring an immigration lawyer is beneficial in many situations where you are dealing with U.S. immigration laws, whether for personal or business reasons. Common reasons to hire an immigration lawyer include:

  • Visa applications: If you need assistance applying for a visa, whether it's a work visa (H-1B), student visa (F-1), or tourist visa (B-1/B-2), a lawyer can help ensure the application is properly completed and submitted.
  • Green card applications: If you're seeking permanent residency, an immigration lawyer can guide you through the process, whether through family sponsorship, employment, or the Diversity Visa (lottery) program.
  • Deportation or removal defense: If you’re facing deportation or removal from the U.S., a lawyer can defend your case in immigration court and seek to prevent removal.
  • Asylum applications: If you’re seeking asylum due to persecution or fear of persecution in your home country, a lawyer can help you prepare a strong case and file for asylum.
  • Family reunification: If you're a U.S. citizen or permanent resident looking to bring family members to the U.S., a lawyer can assist with the family sponsorship process.
  • Citizenship and naturalization: If you're ready to apply for U.S. citizenship, a lawyer can help you navigate the naturalization process and ensure you meet all the requirements.
  • Business immigration: If you're an employer seeking to hire foreign workers, a lawyer can assist with employment-based visas, labor certification, and compliance with immigration regulations.
  • Special immigration categories: Immigration lawyers also handle complex cases, such as visas for victims of human trafficking (T visa), crime victims (U visa), or those seeking Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

Hiring an immigration lawyer early in the process can help you avoid delays, errors, and possible denials due to incomplete or incorrect applications.

What Does an Immigration Lawyer Do?

An immigration lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients with their immigration needs, whether personal or business-related. Their tasks often include:

  • Assisting with visa applications: Helping clients fill out and submit visa applications, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Filing for green cards and permanent residency: Guiding clients through the process of applying for a green card, including family-based, employment-based, or other forms of residency.
  • Defending against deportation or removal: Representing clients in immigration court who are facing deportation and working to prevent removal from the U.S.
  • Preparing asylum cases: Assisting clients in applying for asylum based on fear of persecution in their home country due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
  • Handling citizenship applications: Helping lawful permanent residents apply for naturalization and ensuring they meet all the legal requirements for U.S. citizenship.
  • Employment-based immigration: Assisting employers with the process of sponsoring foreign workers for temporary or permanent visas, including H-1B, L-1, and EB-1 through EB-5 visas.
  • Representation in immigration interviews: Preparing clients for immigration interviews and attending interviews at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offices.
  • Appealing denied applications: If a visa, green card, or citizenship application is denied, a lawyer can file appeals or motions to reopen or reconsider the case.

How Are Immigration Lawyers Paid?

Immigration lawyers generally charge for their services based on the type of immigration case and the complexity of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many immigration lawyers charge a flat fee for specific services, such as preparing a visa application, green card petition, or citizenship application. Flat fees help clients know upfront what the legal costs will be for a particular service.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases, such as deportation defense or appeals, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Retainer: For ongoing immigration matters, some clients may need to pay a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as the lawyer works on the case.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some immigration lawyers or nonprofit organizations may offer free or low-cost services for clients with limited financial means, particularly in asylum or humanitarian cases.

It’s essential to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the costs and payment arrangements.

How Much Does an Immigration Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an immigration lawyer varies based on the type of legal service required, the lawyer's experience, and the complexity of the case. General cost estimates include:

  • Visa applications: For help with visa applications (e.g., H-1B, L-1, F-1), legal fees may range from $2,000 to $7,500, depending on the complexity and the type of visa.
  • Green card applications: Fees for family-based or employment-based green card applications typically range from $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the case.
  • Deportation defense: For defending clients in removal proceedings, costs can range from $5,000 to $15,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case and how long the case takes.
  • Asylum cases: Asylum applications may range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on whether the case is defensive (in removal proceedings) or affirmative (not in removal proceedings).
  • Citizenship applications: Legal fees for filing a naturalization application usually range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the client’s immigration history.
  • Business immigration services: Fees for assisting businesses with employment-based visas (such as H-1B or EB-5 visas) often range from $3,000 to $10,000 or more.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of costs and fee arrangements before proceeding with legal services.

Top Questions to Ask an Immigration Lawyer

Before hiring an immigration lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your case effectively. Important questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with immigration cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s family-based immigration, employment visas, or asylum.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee, hourly rate, or retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and the potential outcomes, including any challenges you might face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Immigration cases can take time, so ask how long it may take to process your application or resolve your legal issue.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your case directly.
  6. What documents do I need to provide?
Ask the lawyer about the documentation required to support your case, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or employment contracts.

How to Check the Credibility of an Immigration Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable immigration lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their state bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific immigration law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in immigration law and have experience handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their ability to handle immigration cases.
  • Check for industry affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) can indicate the lawyer’s expertise and commitment to immigration law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an immigration lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Passport and immigration documents: Bring your passport, visa, and any documents related to your current immigration status.
  • Family documents: If you're applying for a family-based visa or green card, bring marriage certificates, birth certificates, and proof of family relationships.
  • Employment information: For employment-based visas, provide your employment contract, offer letter, or other documentation of your job.
  • Criminal records (if applicable): If you have any criminal history, bring copies of court records and other relevant documents.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any prior immigration applications, visas, or issues with immigration authorities.
  • List of questions: Prepare any questions you have about your immigration case, the process, costs, and the likelihood of success.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer understand your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
