Now my whole process needs to get restarted and they don't take responsibility for it. Avoid this place and avoid Susana as notary.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Unprofessional, unorganized, horrible staff and worst lawyer ever. She does not call to give updates until over 5 weeks of getting any notice, she has lost documentation, and charges double for applications that were already pay for. Whatever you do, DO NOT pick Micaela as your lawyer. We made a huge mistake with her.

I was nervous about starting the process of finding a divorce lawyer because I wanted someone very professional, knowledgeable, experienced, who will fight for my rights. My friend highly recommended Landry Belizaire and I am very happy that I chose him. He is very understanding, thoughtful, and experienced attorney. He gave me invaluable advice and guided me through very difficult period of my life. I was able to call him when I had ANY question about my case. I went to Dragon and Dragon law office for my divorce. Robyn took care of my case, she was the best. She calmed me down and I thought things might be going south. My ex-husband wasn't responding to any emails or calls from Robyn but showed up on the final court date. She make sure that we were separated from each other as we waited to be called. With elegance and grace she struck a deal last minute between the both of us in separate rooms. She calmed me down during and after the proceedings. She wouldn't let me even ride on the same elevator and waited with me to go down the elevator. I wouldn't choose any other family law attorney. Go there she will explain everything and answer all your questions.

READ THIS REVIEW. MONEY GRAB NEVER RECEIVED ANY PAPERWORK/COPIES NEVER HAD MY CALLS RETURNED THEY SPOKE SO FAST AND CUT ME OFF MID SENTENCE SHODDY OFFICE So, here's the story. I Went to this office in November 2020. In the height of Covid they seemed to have no problem putting their hands on cash. I gave Jeff $225 dollars for initial consultation. Afterwards he told me it would be another $1000 to take the case. By January I managed to pull together the money. After his sticky fingers counted that and put it away he brought out the documents for me to sign stating that I'd owe another $2000 once all was said and done. I told him I didnt have that kind of money and he said I can make installments and he was willing to work with me. Reluctantly, I signed it. A week or so later he calls and says there is a $400 court fee before they can move forward. That being all I had I paid it favoring the long run of my case financially. Some time later I'm given paperwork to fill out pertaining to my expenses and am rudely reminded that I still owe them $2000. That being stated, I told him once again that I dont have that kind of money and after seeing my expenses it should have proven so. Keep in mind, after filling said paperwork out no one offered to make a copy or even make copies of my pay stubs, divorce decree etc...etc... thereby giving me back my ORIGINAL paperwork. I had to visit my mother in March as she was dying so everything was put on hold. Upon returning I had begun to speak with Robyn (barely being able to finish a sentence let alone understand what she was saying since they all speak ridiculously fast). The first week or so of April was a bit of phone tag. Once finally getting a hold of Robyn she told me I had a bit more to sign and then they'll move forward. After more phone tag I finally just showed up at the office in the hope of simply signing what I needed to. I was met with "you can't just show up. I'll call you on Monday and we can plan accordingly." Monday comes, more phone tag. I call continuously for two weeks. "She's in a meeting, I can take a message." Or, I would get her on the phone but she was conveniently in the middle of something and she'll call me back. Bear in mind that I'm doing all of this on my breaks at work. Two to three times a day. In May I finally stopped kicking the horse and sent them this email in June: (I am sending you this email in regards to $225 for R&R, $1000 in attorney fees and $400 in court costs which were handed to you in cash on 11/17/2020 1/12/2021 1/26/2021. I am requesting a refund of $1400 due to the fact that no progress has been made on this case. I have not received copies of any paperwork that I've signed and/or handed over. I have made numerous attempts at speaking with my lawyer, Robyn Dragon, only to be met with dismissal and no returned calls. I have put aside these funds specifically for this case in order to have my child support reduced. I feel as though this matter has been tossed to the side and every pay period I am hemorrhaging money. I can no longer afford to have my situation placed on the back burner due to negligence which seems to be brought about by a money grab (as stated by previous clients in reviews about this entity). Currently I am in dire need of these funds as I have fallen behind in my bills. I'd like to think that you would want to preserve whatever integrity your firm has left before I decide to send a copy of this email to the better business bureau and place it under any reviews that can be found online. I would appreciate my money returned in a more timely manner than your phone calls. Please send cash or check to: Thank you for your time, rather, your lack thereof.) It is now August 2021 and I have not had any kind of response whatsoever. Nine months and $1625 of money I dont have is gone. Prior to this I had little to no experience with lawyers. Now though, I ge

My husband and I needed an attorney after a tree fell on our house during a storm. We were going to go to the lawyer we used for a accident he had last year, but decided to use Jeff instead - a very good decision on our part after all. Jeff took our call late in the evening and scheduled an appointment for us the next morning. (We thought we would have to wait days, if not weeks.) When we arrived at his office, we were greeted and made to feel comfortable and welcome. (A very different feel from what our last attorney made us feel like!) When Jeff saw us, we explained that the tree that feel on our sons bedroom was a point of contention for us with our next door neighbor for many years. And we knew that this may happen at some point. Well, when the tree fell (Thankfully, our son was not in his room at the time.) the tree destroyed his room, our den, and the laundry room. Our insurance company would not pay for the entirety of the repairs - saying that ti was the neighbor's responsibility - and we needed someone to help us in the legal process of fighting to get our house back in the shape it was before this uninvited guest arrived. Between both insurance company's, the neighbor, and our son having to stay in a spare bedroom, we were at the end of our rope. Jeff was able to get all the issues fixed for us - quite quickly, which surprised all of us, especially my husband. His office was able to get the insurance company's to step up and get the repairs done, and the house back to what it used to be - to our liking as well! If I ever need an attorney again, I am going to make sure to go back to Jeff. I am astounded and amazed at how well everything was handled.

This law firm should get “0” stars. They have taken my money and has not returned my calls or emails. When I didn’t get any response I went to their office and knocked on the door. People were inside but would not open the door. When I called they said they won’t see me without appointment. We had acourt date and my lawyer never called me or prepared for the hearing. And the case was dismissed because we didn’t show up. I AM SHOCKED THAT BAR ASSOCIATION HAS NOT TAKEN ANY ACTIONS AGAINST THIS LAW FIRM.

’ve had the privilege of working with many professionals, but these lawyers have set a new standard for excellence. From day one, they have gone above and beyond, making my case feel as important to them as it is to me. What truly stands out is how they take the time to understand every detail, treating my concerns as their own. They don’t just respond promptly—they make me feel like I’m their top priority at every turn. Their ability to navigate complex legal matters with both skill and compassion has made all the difference. They approach my case with a personal touch, ensuring that my best interests are always at the forefront. Whenever I’ve needed clarity or support, they’ve been there—ready to guide me like family would. It’s rare to find a legal team that combines professionalism with genuine care, but they manage to excel at both. I can confidently say I have found not just great lawyers but lifelong allies who are invested in my success. If you’re looking for representation that goes beyond just doing the job, this team is the one you can trust.

They were happy to talk with me on the phone when they took my money but after that very poor contact. I sent 8 emails to multiple members of the firm but got no response. I actually drove over an hour each way to find their office all locked up at 10:30 on a Wednesday morning. I sent two return receipt requested USPS letters which were never signed for. I could never reach my attorney despite numerous phone calls. Completely devoid of ethics. The "Ethical" description on their website is a joke and in poor taste. Don't make the mistake I and others made. They are scam artists.

Without a doubt, I am fortunate to call this dashing lawyer a personal and family friend. Whenever we have any problem to be sorted out, we go straight to Peter. In an anecdotal reference, when my mother had to deal with unfair traffic ticketing, Peter had found all sorts of holes in the prosecution, proving my mother's innocence in the matter. She was so happy with his professional manner of handling the case, that when my younger sister had a traffic problem, my mother directly went to Peter to represent my sister in court. Once again, his thorough case studies and detailing went above and beyond our expectations, and incidentally the prosecution's as well. Since then, he has helped in our cases of immigration, business, social security, and other matters dealing with the state laws. He is very courteous and friendly in the office, and reminds you always that he is on your side. Perhaps his humor is something to adapt to, but in a matter of a few meetings, you will find yourself splitting sides and jovial, with confidence that he really will pull through for you. In fact, just the other day I visited his office with a friend that was in all sorts of trouble. He was serious, but there was a twinkle in his eye that calmed the nerve of my friend very quickly, and he assured that he would be able to handle the case without a hitch. Since my family has witnessed his fire in court, I have no qualms to reassure my friend that Peter is indeed the real deal. I have referred several friends to him, and not only is he very open, he is very reasonable with his rates. If Mr. Kollory is not your first stop, he will certainly be your last stop for legal matters in NJ. He answers calls within the day, and his professional manners have him placed at the top of his peers. I don't even think twice and remember to keep his business card on hand to proudly say, "I am being represented by Peter Kollory."

I hired Peter S Kollory to perform immigration and business service to my organization. He took the money upfront. He did not have a plan/schedule to complete the task on time as it was time based. He did not give any dates and deliverable's that he should perform based on my input nor gave a plan for me to deliver to accomplish his milestones. Because of his inability, lack of knowledge and experience our immigration petition was not filed before the 2013 H1B quota closed on April 05, 2013. He does not have any policy on communication and co-ordination. Phone calls and emails were not returned on time. It was a very BAD experience and lost time and money using his service. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND HIS SERVICE TO ANYONE NOR WILL GO BACK TO HIM.

I can only speak for the outcome of our child custody case. In the early stages of our case, prior to hiring him, he told us there was the Tender Years Doctrine that he could use an an argument in our case. Having never heard of that, and going online to Google it, found out that has not been used in many years, because it was deemed to violate the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. When we questioned him on that, he backed away from it. It seemed as though he was attentive, and he spent time with us going over all our notes. But in the end, on the most important day in court, it was like he just wasn't 'there'. He didn't much object to anything from the other side, didn't challenge the important evidence, and overall left us to flounder. We cannot speak for other cases he handles, for which he may be perfectly fit. But in our personal experience with him on an important child custody case, we felt he was a poor choice for our situation.

He is a very informed and friendly lawyer. However, when you need updates on your case it seems as if they're too busy to actually drag your case out of the cabinet and read you an update. He knows his stuff but again, I feel like I am completely left out of my process. I feel like being more responsive would equate to him being more proactive.

This place is a joke! I'm currently unemployed and about to ship out with the military. I called looking to see if I could set something up that was within my means to pay this down but they said the "creditor" isn't willing to give me the same "deal" as previously stated. I got a letter saying I'm being "sued". I'll challenge it in court, these people never reached out to me when they took over my account. I have a family to provide for and they don't care. See you in court.

Frankly, I do not know what I would have done without her. Lamiaa was recommended to me by a friend. She's been doing cases like this for a decade. As most people are aware, the USCIS receives hundreds of thousands if not millions of petitions, and because of that, they are very strict on the paperwork and deadlines. Lamiaa notified me about small details that could be the reason whether or not my petition gets sent back. Being rejected before, this could have been the reason why I had not just one but multiple applications received and accepted. It took forever, but I have peace of mind knowing that Lamiaa was very familiar with the process.

I hired this lawyer this year. It's the biggest mistake I ever made. First, she lost all my documents and called me while I was off that Friday. I had to drive 5 hours back home to email her all the information. Second, when I need a simple explain or question from her, she always has excuse to delay and refuse to see or talk to you. For example, I asked for my LCA application and H1B receipt # in April 2013. She refused to give to me. This year I didn't get my H1B for FY 2014, I asked for the reason. She said I was unlucky that I wasn't selected through the lottery. But now since I'm leaving the previous company, I asked her again, she had to admit there is never a receipt # from USCIS for my petition. Which means, she did something wrong. Because even if I wasn't selected through the lottery, as long as my petition was received by USCIS, I would have a receipt #. Third, when I asked her for the receipt # recently, she said she was annoyed, she has no time to answer my questions. How can she say that? I only email her two simple questions... She is such a bad lawyer. she is irresponsibility, totally screw all the thing and waste my chance and time. she is also very rude. worst of all, she is not professional.

This is really a bad lawyer ever. I would advice you keep away from this lawyer. I had hired this lawyer, Lamiaa Elfar, but she did not help me much other than a poor cover letter. My application, EB1A, form I140, was rejected. The main reason is my recommendation letters and cover letter were not clearly explained details of my application. This lawyer did not help me anything on the recommendation letters, even I asked her. She rarely pickup and answer your phone or even just reply your email. When ever she need your money she will pick up phone. So bad lawyer ever. She has no responsibility for your application.

I hired Ms.Patel through her firm Pasricha and Patel for my family based green card petition. The first ime you call and speak they leave a great impression which is misleading. After I hired them I was only able to communicate with their paralegal who would never be avilable to take calls. Any notices I received from USCIS I would check online and have to call the paralegal and have it emailed to me. I would prepare my forms and send it to them and they would take many days to file, and I constantly had to follow up. I was highly displeased with the services provided and the lack of efficiency with which my case was handled. I would not recommend their firm.

A few months ago I had an experience with this migration lawyer from New Jersey, my experience and opinion is negative, she is very unprofessional and it seems to me that she is only interested in getting money from you for her amateur services, no willingness or help from on her part, she is an absolute amateur in her legal field and is not willing to help a person! she is only interested in money, nothing more! I definitely do not recommend it to anyone?

Since the termination letter has been signed by her, I am more confident in writing this review, as I am not held down by the attorney-client relationship (as well as seeing her write details about her previous deals with clients including monetary details of the contract). First, we spoke in November 2017, and she was not sure about my case and prioritised other clients of hers and didn't speak to me for months. Next, I emailed her January 2018 and she didn't respond, prioritising other clients. End of February is when she decided to finally speak, and it was all sweet talk. From March till the next 10 months I made continuous payments and she never really reached back all these months. recommendations on October, and then didn't respond. Finally, after a lot of hustle I managed to get 6 recommendations written and approved (given I wrote most of the recommendations because it was my field of expertise). The only way you can get any work done from her is by sweet talking and showing her that she is best at her game. Her strategy is to play busy, she will cancel calls, say she has called you (when she actually hasn't), not get back to emails, so that you have to either give her the most importance or sweet talk to her (even if she is one of the most unprofessional person I have had to deal with). After getting 6 recommendations I was so tired of all the sweet talking that I decided to see whether she would ever get back, schedule calls or even pay importance to the case. The answer is nope! In these few years, whenever I have reached back to her, all she uses phrases like "don't consider the case as 5-6 years old, consider it as a new one", "you were not confident in your case". I reminded her that if I wasn't confident in my case, why would I have invested so much money (given she charges more than other higher qualified attorneys ) by doing a careful market survey. After 5 years of extreme unprofessional behaviour and not having the case progress at all, I got hit by the massive tech layoffs, I had no choice but to leave US. Finding a job in this scenario staying abroad becomes even more difficult, and my mental health was on the verge of a brekadown (given I was not close to the bay area and relocating within 60 days and finding a job was impossible). She offered me a termination letter citing she has moved to a big law firm and would return only 25% of the money which I paid to her. After all the hassle, unprofessionalism and a chance to have stayed in the country and continue my job search, I receive a letter of termination with only 25% of the money. Leave aside the pain in dealing with her owing to her extreme unprofessionalism, the monetary loss in not having a chance to search for a job is even more. I wouldn't have written this review if I hadn't gone through extreme mental exhaustion whenever I had to deal with her, including extreme unprofessional behaviour and the last nail in the coffin with the termination letter. I think the only reason why she gets away with this behaviour is because she knows that immigrants don't get back and sue lawyers who have at least temporarily contributed to ruining people's careers.

What an Immigration Lawyer Can Do for You

An immigration lawyer specializes in helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the complex immigration process. These lawyers provide legal guidance on various immigration matters, such as obtaining visas, gaining permanent residency (green cards), applying for citizenship, and defending clients in deportation or removal proceedings. Immigration lawyers also assist with employment-based immigration, asylum applications, and resolving issues related to visas or immigration status.

Whether you're trying to immigrate to the U.S., facing deportation, or sponsoring an employee or family member for a visa, an immigration lawyer can help you understand your legal options and navigate the often complicated legal system.

When Should I Hire an Immigration Lawyer?

Hiring an immigration lawyer is beneficial in many situations where you are dealing with U.S. immigration laws, whether for personal or business reasons. Common reasons to hire an immigration lawyer include:

  • Visa applications: If you need assistance applying for a visa, whether it's a work visa (H-1B), student visa (F-1), or tourist visa (B-1/B-2), a lawyer can help ensure the application is properly completed and submitted.
  • Green card applications: If you're seeking permanent residency, an immigration lawyer can guide you through the process, whether through family sponsorship, employment, or the Diversity Visa (lottery) program.
  • Deportation or removal defense: If you’re facing deportation or removal from the U.S., a lawyer can defend your case in immigration court and seek to prevent removal.
  • Asylum applications: If you’re seeking asylum due to persecution or fear of persecution in your home country, a lawyer can help you prepare a strong case and file for asylum.
  • Family reunification: If you're a U.S. citizen or permanent resident looking to bring family members to the U.S., a lawyer can assist with the family sponsorship process.
  • Citizenship and naturalization: If you're ready to apply for U.S. citizenship, a lawyer can help you navigate the naturalization process and ensure you meet all the requirements.
  • Business immigration: If you're an employer seeking to hire foreign workers, a lawyer can assist with employment-based visas, labor certification, and compliance with immigration regulations.
  • Special immigration categories: Immigration lawyers also handle complex cases, such as visas for victims of human trafficking (T visa), crime victims (U visa), or those seeking Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

Hiring an immigration lawyer early in the process can help you avoid delays, errors, and possible denials due to incomplete or incorrect applications.

What Does an Immigration Lawyer Do?

An immigration lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients with their immigration needs, whether personal or business-related. Their tasks often include:

  • Assisting with visa applications: Helping clients fill out and submit visa applications, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Filing for green cards and permanent residency: Guiding clients through the process of applying for a green card, including family-based, employment-based, or other forms of residency.
  • Defending against deportation or removal: Representing clients in immigration court who are facing deportation and working to prevent removal from the U.S.
  • Preparing asylum cases: Assisting clients in applying for asylum based on fear of persecution in their home country due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
  • Handling citizenship applications: Helping lawful permanent residents apply for naturalization and ensuring they meet all the legal requirements for U.S. citizenship.
  • Employment-based immigration: Assisting employers with the process of sponsoring foreign workers for temporary or permanent visas, including H-1B, L-1, and EB-1 through EB-5 visas.
  • Representation in immigration interviews: Preparing clients for immigration interviews and attending interviews at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offices.
  • Appealing denied applications: If a visa, green card, or citizenship application is denied, a lawyer can file appeals or motions to reopen or reconsider the case.

How Are Immigration Lawyers Paid?

Immigration lawyers generally charge for their services based on the type of immigration case and the complexity of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many immigration lawyers charge a flat fee for specific services, such as preparing a visa application, green card petition, or citizenship application. Flat fees help clients know upfront what the legal costs will be for a particular service.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases, such as deportation defense or appeals, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Retainer: For ongoing immigration matters, some clients may need to pay a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as the lawyer works on the case.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some immigration lawyers or nonprofit organizations may offer free or low-cost services for clients with limited financial means, particularly in asylum or humanitarian cases.

It’s essential to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the costs and payment arrangements.

How Much Does an Immigration Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an immigration lawyer varies based on the type of legal service required, the lawyer's experience, and the complexity of the case. General cost estimates include:

  • Visa applications: For help with visa applications (e.g., H-1B, L-1, F-1), legal fees may range from $2,000 to $7,500, depending on the complexity and the type of visa.
  • Green card applications: Fees for family-based or employment-based green card applications typically range from $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the case.
  • Deportation defense: For defending clients in removal proceedings, costs can range from $5,000 to $15,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case and how long the case takes.
  • Asylum cases: Asylum applications may range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on whether the case is defensive (in removal proceedings) or affirmative (not in removal proceedings).
  • Citizenship applications: Legal fees for filing a naturalization application usually range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the client’s immigration history.
  • Business immigration services: Fees for assisting businesses with employment-based visas (such as H-1B or EB-5 visas) often range from $3,000 to $10,000 or more.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of costs and fee arrangements before proceeding with legal services.

Top Questions to Ask an Immigration Lawyer

Before hiring an immigration lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your case effectively. Important questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with immigration cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s family-based immigration, employment visas, or asylum.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee, hourly rate, or retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and the potential outcomes, including any challenges you might face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Immigration cases can take time, so ask how long it may take to process your application or resolve your legal issue.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your case directly.
  6. What documents do I need to provide?
Ask the lawyer about the documentation required to support your case, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or employment contracts.

How to Check the Credibility of an Immigration Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable immigration lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their state bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific immigration law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in immigration law and have experience handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their ability to handle immigration cases.
  • Check for industry affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) can indicate the lawyer’s expertise and commitment to immigration law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an immigration lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Passport and immigration documents: Bring your passport, visa, and any documents related to your current immigration status.
  • Family documents: If you're applying for a family-based visa or green card, bring marriage certificates, birth certificates, and proof of family relationships.
  • Employment information: For employment-based visas, provide your employment contract, offer letter, or other documentation of your job.
  • Criminal records (if applicable): If you have any criminal history, bring copies of court records and other relevant documents.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any prior immigration applications, visas, or issues with immigration authorities.
  • List of questions: Prepare any questions you have about your immigration case, the process, costs, and the likelihood of success.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer understand your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
