With the excellent results of Stage 1 (K1 + K2 visas to enter the US), we retained Ms. Perez for Stage 2 (Application for permanent status - i.e. green card. I'm so glad we did. The results were the same - completion with quality and minimal stress.
Ms. Perez speedily prepared and filed our documents for submission to apply for permanent status. She was clear with her guidelines and patient with my reviews and changes. She even handled a mistake I made that caused a small delay.
The result is that we are done!!! :) My wife and her two children arrived in the US early this year. They received their employment authorization documents, are now working, have their driver's permit and the kids are already enrolled in college courses.
Just a week ago, they were excited to open their envelopes marking the end of this stage to hold their green cards in their hands. Wow! The Lord was gracious to gift us with a fast process for this stage after the need for patience in trust in the first stage.

This review is long overdue. A dissolution is an extremely emotional and draining process period. The best thing you can do for yourself and for your child may not just be to get a divorce, but to work with a firm that genuinely cares about your circumstances and will fight tooth and nail for you. I get emotional just reflecting on how much more I got out of my dissolution than I could have ever imagined if it weren’t for Paul, Liz, and Linda. These 3 ARE the light at the end of the tunnel.
Who you work with MATTERS, especially if you’re involved in a high-conflict divorce with children involved. Do what’s best for yourself and your children and retain this firm. I was very lost and had no idea where to go or find the necessary help. My wife and I have been working with her oldest brother (85 yrs old) to help him with a Will and a Living Trust. For the past 3 years we have traveled from our home in Durand Mi. to San Diego to provide him with advice and provide any help he may need to get everything right. The more we worked the more complicated and confusing this procedure became, OMG were we Stumped. This year we decided we needed professional help. So, what do you do when your 2000 miles away and don't really know anybody in a big city like San Diego, GOOGLE IT! That's exactly what we did and came up with a bunch of names of attorneys that claim to be the best anywhere. We started making calls to see who we liked the best and would be able to take care of our issues. We left voice mails and asked to have someone contact us to set up a meeting. We encountered a few who were vague and after listening to what we needed really didn’t seem too interested. Then Jason, called us and we were so happy with his attitude and wiliness to complete the needed documents on a very short notice. Everyone in that firm seemed to want to help us get everything right, signed, and registered they even worked through the weekend. The team was amazing in helping us with our will and trust! They were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, supportive and patient with us as we figure out the best path forward to suit some of our very particular needs. It’s obviously not a fun or easy topic to discuss and they were so understanding of that giving us options and suggestions that could be relevant to us. And allowing us the time we needed to sort things out amongst our family. Sometimes we wouldn’t be able to resolve things easily so we would be at a standstill for a while between me and my husband but they were great about checking in regularly without creating any additional pressure. We also had some personal and particular road blocks that we come up against and Ashley was wonderful in giving us options and guidance around that. I bought a factory-certified 2017 Kia Sorento in fall 2018 from a local dealer.
In June 2023 at 55,000 miles, I first noticed a burnt oil smell when driving my car. The Kia developed an oil consumption problem and started burning 1-quart of oil internally each week, without any external visible trace.
I took my car to the Carlsbad Kia dealer, who performed all the service on it, and explained this latest problem. I brought it there several times through the end of 2023, hoping for resolution.
While still under factory warrant, the dealer said there was little they could do for me. They advised me to drive the car until the engine died and gave me the phone number to report my problem to Kia America HQ.
Likewise, Kia America pushed back and said I need to resolve it through the dealer. Feeling frustrated, I filed a complaint with the federal highway agency, NHTSA.
In January 2024, a family member had problems with a new hybrid Jeep Wrangler he bought and enlisted help from San Diego Lemon Law attorney Doug Sohn. That family member encouraged me to contact Doug’s office to see if they could also help my case.
In late January, I followed-up and filed an inquiry on the law firm’s website. One week later, they contacted me to set up an initial background call with attorney Doug Sohn.
I explained the whole problem to Doug who said he’d research this problem with other Kia owners and report back to me if he felt we had a valid case.
In February, Doug contacted me after his research, he felt I had a valid claim and agreed to take my case. We held a brief follow-up call to review how their firm proceeds on these cases, how valuation of my vehicle and their compensation works, and sent me forms to sign.
His staff asked me to submit several documents about my purchase of the car, title, service receipts, etc. Two weeks later, Doug provided me with initial draft of his letter to Kia America, outlining my case as supported by his research of this oil problem with Kia and Hyundai vehicles. His letter requested that they buy back my car, based on my damaged engine and unreliability of the frequent need for oil.
In April, my relative settled his claim with Jeep through Doug’s help and received full reimbursement for his problematic new vehicle.
In May, we received Kia’s acceptance of Doug’s proposal to buy back my Kia Sorento. I was overjoyed, with a great sense of relief on that news. The law firm warned me that Kia is not the fastest to resolve these cases and said it would take about 120 days to be completed.
As I drove the car for another four months, I kept replenishing oil into the engine every 1 to 2 weeks based on my driving. The car was becoming more unreliable, and it actually blew a cylinder during my last month of ownership.
By October, Kia finally arranged a date for me turn-in my car at the local Kia dealer, working with a 3rd party firm who handles these arrangements for Kia America. In early November, the law firm received payment from Kia, and Doug sent my check for agreed settlement amount.
Overall, I was extremely pleased with the law firm’s detailed follow-through and steady communication. The staff kept me informed regularly on the progress of my claim.
If you have a ‘lemon’ problem with your vehicle, I highly recommend contacting San Diego Lemon Law Attorney. Doug Sohn has decades of experience dealing with auto makers on their defective vehicles, and he’ll fight on your behalf to make it right for you! You’ll lay out No Funds for their service, as they are reimbursed by the auto manufacturers.

She is very attentive, detail-oriented, and most definitely committed about being of service to her clients. I'd never even met her in person – half the time we had her as our lawyer, I was in Bahrain. Communication was always smooth and detailed, be it an email or a virtual meeting. She is incredibly professional, but also warm enough to make interactions a lot more comfortable.
We needed help with some documents that we had to submit to the NVC (my husband was stationed in Bahrain, and his tax returns forms were different. We decided to hire her when I faced a bunch of personal troubles that could have sent my case down the drain. She contacted the Embassy in Bahrain to follow up on an interview schedule. It took well over a year since the petition was filed to get an appointment. Then my case was AP'd for over 2 months. She again contacted the Embassy and sent them a legal brief as to why it should not have been put under administrative processing in the first place. After my IV was approved, she gave me some tips and guidelines for when I first enter the US as a resident, and a few things I should probably take care of ASAP, e.g. REAL ID/driver's license, SSN.
She knows what she's doing, and she really cares. I'm glad we found her. Very, very highly recommended!

Ben Aguilar is a talented, whip-smart, and thorough attorney. Thank you so much to Derek and Ruby for being organized, patient, flexible, and extremely professional. They filled out and submitted all my paperwork for adjustment of status through marriage. The application process without them would have been so stressful because there is a lot to keep track of.
Ruby was my case manager and really made herself available to answer any questions I had. I'm sure I repeated my questions multiple times, but she ALWAYS answered them even if she was repeating herself. She made herself available outside of business hours to answer these questions or to receive any documents from me after I got off of work. I could go on and on about how amazing her work ethic is, and I'm very grateful to have worked with her.
I only really interacted with Derek 3 times. The first time was through the consultation, second was a zoom call to prepare me for my interview, and third time was on my interview day. All 3 times Derek was also extremely helpful at answering my questions and put me at ease about the process. I'd like to note that interview day was chaotic. The USCIS interview office had overbooked people, and they ended up having to reschedule ~20 people's interviews. Unfortunately I was one of them, and Derek made himself available for anytime I wanted to reschedule the interview. We ended up going in at 7:00am the following day (which was a rare time and outside USCIS business hours), so he promptly showed up around 6:30am to make sure he was there for my interview.

Mr. Golchin was my lawyer for a case which a careless driver passed the red light at a intersection and hit my car so badly. My car was totaled and I was screened by the emergency. Unfortunately, the other driver did not acknowledge her fault, initially. In 2014, when I was stranded in Tijuana, MX after escaping political persecution in my home country (long story), I frantically looked for an immigration attorney to seek asylum in the US. I shot off emails to several SD attorneys, asking them questions the answers to which I already knew to gauge their: 1) responsiveness and 2) expertise.
You'd be surprised how often lawyers provide the wrong answers even during the first consultation. No way I'm paying a single cent to any lawyer who doesn't know the law.
It turned out that Mr Golchin was the only who responded promptly AND correctly. Not only that, he PERSONALLY TRAVELED DOWN TO MEXICO just to meet me, and this was before I even retained him. That just goes to show his sheer dedication and willingness to go the extra mile in performing his duties. He left an extremely positive impression so I retained him.
When I was in immigration detention, he worked tirelessly to liaise with ICE officers to get me released ASAP and also visited me personally. With his assistance, I was finally paroled into the US. When the time came to file for a work permit and to file for asylum (I-589), Mr Golchin prepared the necessary form and documents conscientiously and accurately so as to prevent unnecessary delays.
When I had to defend my case in court in Los Angeles, Mr Golchin traveled more than a handful of times to my city to represent me in court. Though not a loud/flamboyant lawyer, he knows the law extremely well, he makes a huge effort to acquaint himself with the facts of your case, and when arguing he adopts a deliberate, collected, yet persuasive tone to convince the immigration judge of his position. Mr Golchin and I have always prepared through Skype conferences or personal meetings right before any court appearance.
Most importantly, Mr Golchin won my case for me (I'm finally a US asylee) at first instance, and the government attorney had also promised not to appeal the decision. I think, after all said and done, this is the most important point. I wouldn't be singing praises if my case had to go to appeal. I've also always felt comfortable consulting Mr Golchin on not only immigration matters but also other legal matters. He has been of assistance to me in legal matters beyond immigration.
In short, I'd highly recommend Mr Golchin for your immigration-related matters. He's the perfect combination of legal expertise and also genuine care and attentiveness for his clients.

I was referred to Susan from the San Diego Lawyer referral service. I know lawyers are not cheap, but I have never regretted one second hiring this woman. She has been worth every penny. I had a basic my husband is a foreigner and we needed to adjust his status. But her and her office team knew right away what forms to fill out, documents I would need, etc. It is true what all the other reviews say. She does get back to you very quickly and gets things done in a timely manner. I have read that other immigration lawyers have delayed the process for other people because they take forever to respond to questions or get their paperwork done. Not this office. I have had all sorts of random question about the immigration process and things I can and can not do with my husband and she has been there every step of the way to help us.
