Patino was so completely out-matched by my ex's attorney. She was unprepared and did not do anything to defend me from ridiculous accusations. She caused my children to be removed from me for 6 months now and I am the ONLY biological parent. I have not done ANYTHING wrong and there are absolutely NO GROUNDS for my children being taken against my will. They were given to my ex, a non-relative of the children, after the ex filed a protective order against me and abducted my children from my home. All based on lies! The ONLY explanation for this from patino was "she filed first, she has upper hand." She quit 3 times because I questioned her. It's sad, the irreparable damage that has been done to my children.

I cannot explain the miracles Erika worked for me! She was thrown into a contested custody battle with only the notice I had when I was served. Before I even met face to face with her to hire her she had pages of research done on my case. She didn't even know if she would be my attorney and she devoted her time to me. She provided information to me not knowing she would be defending my daughters and me.
She not only had the contested custody to battle, she had out of state orders to transfer, 2 different counties to work through here in TX, back child support and an affidavit to contest.
She was very detailed in what she was going to need from me and made sure to study and document everything I provided her. She answered my questions day and night, in the middle of heated contention between my ex and me, even when she was with her family. She always followed up the very next morning. She was thrown more curveballs than anyone could have expected before, during and after both of our hearings.
She went out of her way to find me doctors, documents and anything else I needed before, during and after everything. No matter how hard my ex tried to break her/us, she didn't budge.
She made sure I came out victorious with added benefits in the end. She actually chased my ex and his "new family" out of Texas! She will fight until the end and keep fighting thereafter!
She put her heart into what I felt was an end to all means. She "adopted" us and genuinely cared about us... Still does.
If you need the best of the best, someone who genuinely cares and will work with you and for you, you need not look any further. Erika Patino is the answer.
She's so incredible I have added her to my Christmas list and that's a hard list to make!

Finally. A sense of relief from what could’ve been one of the worst events in my life. Thanks to Mr. Canton’s expertise and help, I can finally plan my life with some certainty. I can confidently make decisions and “settle” in a land that I could have been forced to leave. A few years ago, I received a letter in the mail indicating that I am going through removal proceedings in the United States. As a lawful resident, it was the worst news I could ever ask for. There was a mistake done in the process that was definitely not our fault.
I was banned from traveling to explore the world or see family that is near and dear to my heart. If I did step outside the borders, the US would have considered it self-deportation and I wouldn’t be able to get back to my life routine, family, and education. In addition, every life decision I wanted to take was accompanied with fear that I would never be back here again, when I literally went through so much to settle here. I met with 2 lawyers before meeting Mr. Canton: one was very expensive and I could sense the discrimination 100%, he said: “ you will be deported there’s no way out” (despite that I legally came here and have the cleanest record), the other seemed to be inexperienced and emotional which I truly did not need at the time. When I met Mr. Canton, I could tell by his calm demeanor, reputation by judges, and certificates that he KNEW his stuff. Pricing was half of what other lawyers asked for, and they were so kind to accept flexibility with payments.
Michael said my case was easy, if I followed the right steps. It was so reassuring to hear that because he was optimistic yet realistic. After years of following his instructions (which weren’t complicated!). I can now say I’m a FREE person. Free from concern, anxiety, fear, and legal complications. Going through it for years was devastating. I can finally make decisions without back up plans that I’d need if I were deported.
Whenever I had a question, this lawyer was fast to respond and was accurate. His office and assistants always notified me about any changes. If you miss any communication, the legal system can be strict. You need someone to keep you updated.
Michael helped resolve a years long issue so effortlessly. I looked around before committing to this lawyer, and I can hands down guarantee that his reputation among judges AND lawyers is quite positive - he is perceived as honest and knowledgeable.
I won my case in 2021. I cried. I was able to keep my residency and apply for citizenship, and didn’t need to follow any “worse case” scenarios. I have a great life thanks to him. I FINALLY traveled, got married, settled but this time with no burden on my shoulders.
I’m so thankful for knowledgeable people who change lives and that is why my review is long. With Michael, there was integrity and determination to get things right without bias! I hope no one goes through what I went through, but if you do. You have this lawyer!

My sister hired this attorney and she took our retainer fee. She holds herself out as being licensed in the State of Texas-- she is NOT. She markets herself well but she is a terrible attorney. She makes decisions at the detriment of the client. My family fired her within 8 days and she sent us a bill for over $4,000.00

Personally, I would not recommend Sylvia. She was very helpful initially, as I was recommended her by a close friend. I paid her retainer to her in cash, then I was informed that she moved to a new firm shortly after hiring her, then was asked for another retainer with her new firm. Not sure if this is normal, but the way I was communicated with about the situation by the new firm wasn't very professional and quite rude.

A couple years ago when I was 19 years old I was in an abusive marriage. He beat me in front of my children and that was the last straw. I called this women for help, told her I had no idea what I was doing, that I was young and was being abused. She started yelling at me going off saying I was scamming her and asking for free services. I broke down crying, I felt so alone and defeated. I in no way was looking for “free services” i was young, confused, distraught, and trying to find someone who could help me figure out the process of divorce. She made me feel so awful and alone, I almost stayed in an abusive marriage solely because of this woman. I doubt she remembers me but I sure remember her and now that I am almost 30 I see even more how absolutely vile what she did and said was. I was a child being beaten and when I reached out to her for help all she did was yell at me and belittle me. Ms “Adkins”, I whole heartedly hope you are ashamed of yourself, you definitely should be

She can see the proof , like she had sent to her, of my innocence of the dirty jacket I had to wear, the early afternoon that I was detained and had 4 charges consecutively stacked upon me when a family member I trusted, my Ex Father in law decides to walk away and agreed to watch them the night before. Leaving my babies alone.
I had the money to bond out. Just had no one in my corner because of my abusive situation. She knew all this. She hung me with the maximum punishment that day in court.

We hired Justin as my family blindsided with Divorce papers,
After providing him with 6 folder full of records and he was so unprepared prepared in court, it blew my mind.
The inattention to detail and how very unprepared he was.
We were unnerved when, just before the hearing he asked for more money - this was after having been paid the retainer well before the trial.
Long story short he had to be asked to say the obvious by us during the trial and the judge kept looking at him for checking his phone repeatedly during the trial rather than listening to the hearing.
He ended up working out the best deal for the opposing attorney and went over to the other attorney patting him on the back. No matter the circumstances Justin will do his best to help himself while harming our kiddos and extended family.

I retained Mr. Jackson for a family law case and it was pulling teeth to get him to respond to me. He wouldn’t respond to emails in timely manner and would just ignore them. He does not have an open line of communication and I felt like I was the least of his worries. He was of money and time and took 6 months to file one piece of paperwork.

I have worst experience ever. They took my case and my retainer and since than they don’t care how many times I called and tried to reach. The attorney is hard to find in office for appointments and never shows up on the days of appointment. The staff is rude and unprofessional.
They will waste your time and money. If you want representation in a case, this is not a lawyer you are looking for.

Wade was our attorney in 1997-1998. We hired him to complete a "step-parent" adoption. In that process we learned my husband's divorced to his former wife had not been finalized. My husband with the help of Wade immediately filed for divorce (to the ex). We counseled with Wade at that time as of what we - my husband and I needed to do if anything to validate our marriage. Wade said nothing. Stated our marriage would be "retroactive" back to its original date. He then completed the "step parent" adoption. 15 years later and after 20 years of marriage we are learning our marriage was and is void due to the fact we never "married" after that divorce was completed! I called Wade this past week and left 7 messages pleading that he return my call. The last message I left stated if I didn't hear back from him, I would have little choice but to file a complaint. I just needed to know what his reasoning was to advise us not to marry. I was positive once we spoke to him, this would all be cleared up. I had so much faith in him as our attorney and at the time, our Bishop (LDS). His return call left me devastated and in tears. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. He just kept saying, "Go ahead Debbie, FILE YOUR COMPLAINT and I'll answer that and ONLY that!" He said, "Oh now I guess you want FREE LEGAL ADVISE!". No Wade, I want you to tell me why you ruined what was about to be a 20 year marriage celebration! I want you to tell me why my now adult daughter still doesn't have a legal father! And although he wasn't hired to do our 2nd "Step-Parent" adoption a year later, it was still completed under the pretense we were a married couple! If there is a reasonable explanation for this, all you had to do was say it. By your tone, attitude and the fact you hung up on me as I sit there crying tells me you KNOW you gave us bad legal advice! Admitting that would accept that responsibility. We trusted you with our family unit. We trusted your knowledge as a certified attorney. You more than let us down. You've destroyed all that we have worked for.

I was referred by state bar to call this office, but all i heard was grumpy negative feedbacks about my case, and he wont even want to take the case because there hasnt been any investigation prior he takes the case. I regret choosing this law firm to represent my husband in his court case. We paid upfront for their services, but unfortunately, the attorney did not appear in court, resulting in a deportation order for my husband. While they were able to reschedule a new hearing and get the order cancelled, the lack of representation that day caused us significant delays and increased the risk of further complications.
I tried to reach out multiple times through calls, voicemails, emails, and the online portal, but I never received a response over the course of 3 years. The stress and anxiety of feeling ignored while seeking clarity about our case were overwhelming. I had to seek help elsewhere.
I hope others have a better experience, but I feel it's important to share my story to help others make informed decisions.

I had a meeting with him regarding may immigration status and paid him $75 for 45 minutes consultation. I arrived on time but waited one hour for him at his office then I talked him and pass my documents to see am I eligible to apply for green card. He didn't answer my question and asked me to review my documents and answer my question in three days. After one week that I didn't heard back from him I sent him email and leave voice massage. Two days later, his secretary call me and told me if you want to know you are eligible you should pay him again to review your documents and do more research. This was against what he said to me. How many days they need to review five pages documents to simply answer you could apply for GC or not.

It's kind of difficult to write this review because I have had some success with Atty. Brown in the past, but within the past year, I have received nothing but poor service. As an immigrant, I don't earn a lot of money, so I took it upon myself to begin the process on my own. I reached out to Ms. Darlene Brown and paid her for services that she had not provided. Somewhere in the midst of everything, without notice or reason, she dropped me as a client. When I attempted several times to contact her to hire her for additional services, she would not return any phone calls or emails. I would have appreciated her letting me know if she felt I could not afford her services or that my case was too complex for her, anything would have been better than just ignoring a loyal customer. If she no longer wanted to continue our business relationship, she should have told me honestly and directly and I could have attained a new attorney to meet my needs sooner. I would not recommend Ms. Darlene Brown, not because of her past performance, but lack of maintaining good customer relations.
