After every other law firm said no to us McDermott law said yes, and took on our long term disability insurance claim. We contacted at least a dozen firms. After my car accident, for which I was not at fault, I was referred to Sam Barfield by a friend. I have never used an attorney prior to this accident and was a bit lost in what to do next. Sam took my call immediately and walked me thru the process in detail, even before I had agreed to hire him. He was patient, full of knowledge and explained things in a way a lay person could easily understand. Thru the months of medical appointments and rehab, Sam took great care in explaining what I needed to know and was so comforting thru the process. I was in a horrific rollover collision where I was nearly killed. Another driver was at fault and crossed three lanes on the freeway, and hit me and rolled my car. My car was totally destroyed. I sustained injuries from the collision. I was not in a mental state to handle anything about this collision on my own and knew I needed to hire an advocate. I interviewed multiple attorneys, and when I met Sam Barfield, I knew he was the one. Sam was extremely compassionate as I was dealing with pain and all of the injuries. Sam helped wade through all of the processes that needed to happen and skillfully negotiated on my behalf. There are so many things that need to be taken care of and accounted with a collision and injuries that one would never think to do on their own. I find it very odd to see the less than happy reviews for Sawaya. My experience was top notch.
I was hit by a car an now I walk like an Egyptian. Well, not exactly, but the long story is tedious and irrelevant. What matters is that I needed legal counsel to manage my claims process with the insurance companies. I was assigned Zach Elsner and Erin Threadwell as my legal team, and could not be happier.
Folks, these things are battles, and not the type that are won in days or weeks, but months, and sometimes years. Zach and Erin were perfectly communicative when I needed to act on something, had an update, or just the occasional check in to make sure they know where we all were in the process.
If your hurt, you need more than peace of mind, You need an advocate that is going to take care of business on your behalf. If you need a personal injury attorney, I think that Sawaya is a strong option. Highly professional, and more than anything else, I never felt like they were a bunch of ambulance chasers.
I hope I never have to use them again, but if I ever get rag-dolled by an SUV in the future, I know where to turn.

On September of 2020 I was in a horrible motorcycle accident that resulted in serious bodily injury. I hired Sarah McEahern to represent me through this process. I wish I had the vocabulary to express how incredible she was on my case and as a person. My case was not a simple case, it involved the Federal Government due to the person who caused my accident was a Federal Employee. Sarah was relentless in perusing my case to make sure I was able to get everything I deserved. Sarah treated me with the utmost respect, care and compassion, not only towards my case but towards me as a person. When I was confused or didn't understand some part of my case she took the time and care to explain everything to me in a manner that I could understand, always leaving me with confidence and a state of calm. Her professionalism is un matched.
Whenever the opposition would try and slow down my case, or try and throw some curve ball Sarah was never fazed by it and instead would directly confront whatever issue they brought up and put it to rest quickly and firmly. Sarah is a no nonsense Attorney that will represent you fearlessly and honestly. She always let me know what my alternatives where and never made me feel like I was forced into any decision. I always felt in control of my case and her words to me always where "This is YOUR one case".
Sarah is an exceptional attorney. My case was Federal but it didn't start out that way. It started as a standard (my term) personal injury case and a short time into my case we found out that it had to be transferred/changed over to a Federal Torts' branch case. Sarah didn't blink an eye or miss a step changing gears from one arena to another.
I truthfully feel like an Angel sent Sarah to my corner to fight for me and win my case! Without Sarah representing me I don't know what would of happened and how things would of turned out. I would recommend her to anyone needing help with a Personal Injury claim.

I hired Tim when my disability carrier was stalling in paying my disability claim. I am an attorney, and had years of experience hiring and supervising other attorneys. Mr. Furtado was instrumental in our successful resolution of a large hail damage claim against the insurance company. He was extremely knowledgeable and his advice and strategy was absolutely client focused. His main objective was to get our damages covered. Most attorneys in this field seem to be focused on getting a reasonable settlement with with as little effort as possible. Others we interviewed were not as passionate or knowledgeable and were clearly focused on a quick settlement and little effort on their part. David understood our real need to get a new roof etc and kept this at the forefront and was willing to keep fighting until we were satisfied. Next time I will skip the public adjuster and go straight to David Furtado's firm.

David helped me with a domestic violence case that was complicated by exaggerated claims from the victim. My desired outcome was a deferred judgement which was not happening as long as the court had reason not to. David used extensive knowledge of procedural motions and the prosecution to gain victory after many months of work.
It was costly. But I am convinced I could have paid much more or worse, ended up with a domestic violence conviction permanently on my record.
