My father was facing 25 years in prison and thanks to John Leunig he only got sentenced to two months in local jail. I strongly reccomend him to anyone looking for a victorious outcome. He has an amazing attention to detail and was able to find flaws that otherwise would have been over looked. He is very prompt and personable and cared about our entire family not just my father.

John was amazing help during my first and hopefully last run in with the law. I had consulted with a wide range of lawyers around the twin cities and each of them had given me the same "probable outcome". That was until I met with John, who took the time to get to know me and understand my case. He then walked me through his plan to reach an outcome better than all the others I had been told - and he executed it! I am very grateful for stumbling across John and sincerely recommend looking into his practice if you are in need of council. 5 stars!!

John Leunig has helped me twice now, both resulting in no charges at all. He even helped my Mother beat a case over 20 years ago! So this guy has a lot of experience with multiple types of cases. He is caring and compassionate and his team shares those same values in every interaction I've had with them. This team will put a lot of time and effort into your case. I cannot recommend John Leunig and his team enough.

I was referred to Tom Brock and EZKM for representation in a complex slip and fall suit. Early on I was advised on the potential outcomes for my case, what each outcome would entail, and what to expect form the process. Something that really stood out was the care and attention Tom & team (Sandee & Madeline!) took when explaining the details of the suit, asking for my input, and ensuring I was in full understanding when making decisions with them. It is impressive to have such excellent communication and feel as though you are the only client a team has (when that is definitely not the case!). I felt my questions and needs were addressed in a very timely manner and appreciated the compassion displayed by EZKM as a whole. The suit was resolved in my favor and I am forever grateful I chose to have representation. I will not hesitate to pass along the referral for anyone who needs Tom's help.

Over the 13 years I’ve known and worked with Elliot, I have come to understand his passion for the practice of law and unique/difficult personal injury cases. He is energized to learn new things in order to fully understand the intricacies of a case. He is intelligent, organized, down to earth, compassionate and extremely kind. Because I have the utmost trust in him, I have referred several people to Elliot over the years and if the day comes that I need him, he’ll be my only call.

Kept me going when many times I was ready to give up. I put my full trust in them and they succeeded in every expectation. Truly an amazing team of lawyers and staff. I would recommend them anytime. Even afterwards of winning my case they still checked in on me and explained the next steps. An let me know if I ever have any questions they are always there to help. It was good knowing I had them backing me every step of the way, and never giving up on the fight.

I applied for the Human Resources Assistant position with Stinson, LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in August 2024. I was called the next day after applying via their online job application on their website. My initial telephone interview was with Chelsea L. Clennan, Director of Human Resources for Stinson, LLP, who's located in their Wichita, Kansas office. Chelsea was immediately complimenting me, telling me that any employer would be lucky to have me, that my skillsets are perfect for the role, that they would move quick for me in the recruitment process, they would make same-day job offers if needed-- immediately raising red flags for me that she was not a genuine person. She immediately moved me on to the second and final stage of the hiring process: the final interview with the hiring manager, the HR manager of the Minneapolis office-- both of whom reported to Chelsea. My suspicions of Chelsea would prove correct when, all the sudden, after letting her know after my final interview on Friday afternoon that I did have another offer, which I'd received the day prior, Chelsea responded to my email quickly, letting me know her and her hiring team would meet on Monday. In her email to me, which I've attached, she even told me her team considered me a top candidate. Monday came and went-- nothing, crickets. Tuesday, I received the attached screen shot email, letting me know they'd meet later that day. I replied, thanked her for keeping me in the loop, even further expressing my gratitude for keeping in touch with me and making me feel respected and valued. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday -- absolute radio silence from Chelsea L. Clennan. I sent a polite follow up email Friday afternoon-- again, I had been ghosted. Not a single reply or word from Chelsea or her team ever since -- despite her shtick of "you're a top candidate" and "we move quickly." I shudder to think how Stinson, LLP employees -- whether in Minneapolis or Kansas -- are treated if Chelsea treated a job applicant -- me -- with what I felt like was pure garbage and disrespect. Personally, I do not recommend Stinson as a place to work based on my experience as a job candidate and how I feel I was treated. When people like the human resources director show you their true colors-- believe them.

I walked in alone to a hearing riddled with anxiety and uncertainty, with no legal representation. Not knowing what was going to be my outcome, especially over a situation that should not have even been brought to a level where court would have been involved, I requested a court appointed attorney. I have never lucked out so much in my entire life than I did that day. Stinson Law firm just so happened to be providing pro bono work that morning and took my case. The two attorneys I worked with not only helped me feel validated in my disbelief that I was even there, but also were the most knowledgeable powerhouse of representation I could have ever asked for. If I were to sum it all up in 3 reasons why I would recommend them to anyone, it would be: Top notch negotiation skills, an unmatched knowledge of the law surrounding my scenario, and for being the most personable, down to earth people, to have the pleasure of working with.

I would like to take this moment to thank Joe Tamburino, Tyler Dahlen and Ashley Heaney(whom first worked with me). I am a person whom usually do not get into trouble as I continue to live my life trying to always do better. But I became a victim to my own actions as I made a choice which changed my life. With the help from this Law firm they helped me be able to see that there is still a future for myself and more to look forward towards. I thought I would be going into this case with lost of hope but with Mr. Tamburino and Mr. Dahlen fighting for me until the settlement agreement, they gave me hope that I wouldn't have to spend a big portion of my life in a facility. That I can continue my life without worries after this case was over. They handled my complicated case with great mindset and was always helpful in all the steps. I would strongly recommend this law firm as they do a lot to help assist you as long as you are willing accept the help they provide. Lastly I would like to thank Mr. Tamburino again!

In a difficult time, when I needed to talk to someone, Wanta Thome listened to my story. From the start with the initial intake, and then lawyer Nick Kaylor- they were all patient listeners. I felt valued. Nick explained me possible outcomes in my case. He went through the complicated process and guided me in every steps thoroughly. He always answered my questions promptly even on the weekends. I would recommend Wanta Thome to anyone that needs an employment lawyer.

My girlfriend needed an employment attorney and the reviews seemed overall very good. At my gf's request, I contacted this company and told them to contact her at her number. Imagine my surprise when they contacted me again instead of the number that I gave them. After that, they finally get ahold of her and set up a time for a "consultation" (their words). We get the call on the agreed upon day and it's not a consultation. We, instead, speak with a paralegal, Bernice, who sets up a time to speak with the attorney, who we are told is Nick in about a week. We wait for the agreed upon date, which we were given not a specific time, but instead a window that the call would come in from Nick. Well, we waited and around the end of the window of time, my gf called and was told that Nick would be contacting her soon. He didn't. So my gf called again, now almost an hour after the window of time ended. We spoke with Miguel, who was professional albiet short and not very helpful. He indicated that Nick had some other pressing and thusly could not take our consultation at this time as agreed. My gf inquired as to why we were not given a call to inform us this change. Miguel had no explanation whatsoever. My gf asked when would we be able to speak with Nick and again Miguel was completely inept. We asked to speak to a managing partner and Miguel refused to pass that request along. So, to review, we have waited weeks for a consultation and got blown off with no explanation whatsoever. We can't get confirmation on when we can speak to an attorney or a managing partner. This is easily the most unprofessional and inept law firm I've ever encountered. I get that things happen but communication, professionalism and a willingness to make things right is key.

Would be 1 star but I’ve atleast been contacted after reaching out trying to figure out what is going on with my case which is absolutely nothing. Process started back in June. I reached out to see if it was possible to reopen my case from 4 years prior because I still have major lasting effects from my shoulder surgery. (Had a different attorney) Spoke with Daniel and he stated we could probably settle out the medical as I have out of pocket costs at minimum of biweekly chiropractic care just so I can function. After this I went through the process of getting my entire file from my previous attorney and hand delivered it to his office. After 2 months of not hearing anything I decided to reach out. First by email. No response. A couple weeks later by phone and I left a voicemail. Again never heard back. A week or so later I called again. This time leaving a message with a lady who answered. After this I got a call from Daniel about a week later. During this phone call he again stated that he thinks we could settle out the medical. He stated he was going to talk with his partner and figure out a game plan on how to proceed and that he would be in contact with me again in a week. I never heard back. Fast forward a month and a half I decided to reach out again. First by email. Again, no response. I let another week or so pass and decided to call. This time I was transferred directly to Daniel. During this call everything changed. Now it was he didn’t think they could settle the medical and he stated he’d give a call back within the week. This never happened. Now 2-3 weeks later here I am posting this review. This was never with intentions of a money grab. 100% I have major issues since having my shoulder surgery. I make more money however I have a $5000 deductible so I choose not to go to the doctor because I really can’t afford that. So instead I go to the chiropractor just so I can get by. Costs me only around $150 every month. I write this review not in spite nor in anger, but more so in annoyance because I feel as if Daniel made it seem like something could be done and just constantly left me wondering what was happening. So really just wasted a ton of my time just to be given false hope. Daniel should have from the beginning just told me that there was nothing that could be done. Had he done that I would have just let it be.

I have worked with several lawyers for various situations over the years with owning a business. But can honestly say that Justin Boschwitz and Peter Kaiser with Moss & Barnett have been the two best I have worked. They are down to earth and it doesn't feel like the classic lawyer - client relationship I have had before or is stereotypical. They have helped me with both positive and unfortunate business situations and guided me along the way. I would highly recommend them, SKOL!

This lawyer is absolutely horrible, at least when it comes to small estates. Paperwork needed to get the final probate court date wasn't completed. Long story short, do not use this lawyer if you have a small estate. Also, he doesn't return phone calls and cancels appointments. Buyer beware!!

Do not waste your time or money. Communication is pathetic. He may have been good once but it's time to retire. Again, if communication is important to you do not waste your money. I had to fire him because of non communication, missed due dates and because he was making proposals without my knowledge. Nothing but a wasted summer with this firm.

Bottom line, I'm divorced so she did what she was hired to do. Beyond that, my experience was similar to A Cody. My daughter's dad and I agreed on everything and shared this information from the start. I wanted to have an expert to make sure that everything was "dotted and crossed". It cost a lot of money for me to have to resend information to Ms. Elliot and her assistant, have several phone calls that Ms. Elliot wasn't prepared for, (she didn't have my information available and said her assistant didn't get it to her yet), reviewing the documents prior to filing to see that my home was listed in multiple counties on the same form), etc. I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, but I believe that between the county and Elliott Law Offices (ELO), multiple people dropped the ball which caused a several month delay in finalizing the process. Case was filed on 5/7/2024 and on 5/9 court administration sent out a notice of Case Filing & Assignment, which mentioned that a Scheduling Statement is due within 60 days and the Initial Case Management Data Sheet is due no later than 5 days before the scheduled Initial Case Management Conference. The case sat in this status until I called the Court Administrator July 1st to see what was needed, so I could reach out to ELO. Turns out they had everything they needed when it was filled in May and voila, we had a court date. I would have thought that someone at ELO would have questioned this in May when they received the document. Then the night before our hearing, Ms. Elliott reached out to see if I was ready for the hearing. I said something out not being sure what to expect and she said it is standard in cases with a minor child...our daughter is 30. I would have thought my lawyer would know the basics about my case. For an "easy" case, with no minor children, both parties in agreement, only one lawyer involved, etc. They were still able to bill me for the more than the retainer. Again, I'm divorced so she did the job she was hired for, but my experience did not show me the amazing side of their office.

Dear Reader, Choosing a lawyer in a divorce is a difficult decision, the outcome of my divorce effected 1) the custody of my two kids, and 2) my financial well being once the dust settles. Most lawyers I interviewed wanted a retainer "NOW!" I went into Lisa's office and I was an absolute mess, being on the side of not wanting a divorce but being forced to file for divorce was the most wretched thing I have ever had to do. I cried my eyes out in her office and explained what was going on, I honest to god was treated like a human and not a dollar sign. Lisa treated me as a friend and heard me out, keeping things very professional reminding me to take some of the unnecessary emotion out of the equation that could effect the outcome. How you handle yourself during this time is crucial in divorce, especially when your family custody and financial well being is on the line. In my divorce things started out civilly with my now Ex wife, then once money, and her "rich" aunt got involved the claws came out... Lisa was very attentive to the other lawyers antics and she had some excellent alternatives which I never considered when breaking things down and trying to ultimately compromise. They are not in the game of checkers, it is a game of chess. We ended up going to mediation and the mediator "Dolan Mediation" that's where Lisa found alternatives to me having to give my pension away, the mediator realizing that my medial benefit premiums were not my income (Difference of me paying 400 a month in spousal support vs 0) offering to pay for my children's hockey as a bargaining chip. I got 50/50 custody of my children (wish I had them 100% however I want what's best for the kids). We have all heard "You get what you pay for" and it holds true with Lisa, she is a very fair priced attorney. I have heard of people going with the cheapest lawyer the find and at the end of the day my children, finances were worth the insurance of having a experienced lawyer who is going to give you the best possible result. Nobody wins in divorce, its not a glamourous thing, nobody goes into marriage with the person they love the most looking to get divorced. Life happens and sometimes you are dealt a bad hand. The last year has been the worst year of my life times a million. I have started to rebuild and life has gotten substantially better. After compromising the financials, I didn't have extra money as most people don't after divorce. Lisa worked with me and gave me options of a payment plan as well as waiting until I refinance my house so that I could pay off most of my debts. I wrote this review because Lisa Elliot did a great job and the outcome that was most important to me came to fruition. That being said during the worst time of my life, I had someone who worked very hard for me and treated me with compassion and looked out for the best interest for my children and myself. I also want to let people who are faced divorce: With time you do heal, things get better. My best friend gave me a saying that helped me out and it is "The sun will rise tomorrow" meaning no matter what sh** you have faced and no matter how bad things get, the sun will rise tomorrow. Pray about it, make good decisions (don't bury yourself in the bottle), and try to take the high road... You will never regret taking the high road, things come back around on their own to people who lie, cheat, and are dishonest. I hope this review helps, I am sorry for what you're going through, remember "The sun will rise tomorrow" Thank you Lisa, Regards, Daniel H.

What an Insurance Lawyer Can Do for You

An insurance lawyer specializes in legal issues related to insurance policies and claims. These lawyers help individuals, businesses, and insurance companies navigate disputes involving insurance coverage, claim denials, bad faith claims, and policy interpretation. Insurance lawyers can represent policyholders who feel they've been unfairly denied coverage, or they can work on behalf of insurance companies to defend against fraudulent or inflated claims.

Whether you're filing a claim, disputing a denial, or dealing with complex coverage issues, an insurance lawyer can provide critical guidance and legal representation to protect your rights and ensure you receive the benefits you're entitled to under your policy.

When Should I Hire an Insurance Lawyer?

Hiring an insurance lawyer is advisable in several situations, particularly when disputes arise over insurance coverage, claim denials, or bad faith actions. Common reasons to hire an insurance lawyer include:

  • Denied insurance claims: If your insurance company denies your claim, a lawyer can help determine whether the denial was justified or if you should challenge the decision.
  • Bad faith insurance practices: If you believe your insurer has acted in bad faith, such as delaying payment or failing to properly investigate your claim, a lawyer can help you pursue legal action.
  • Underpaid claims: If the insurance company has offered less compensation than you believe your claim is worth, a lawyer can negotiate for a higher payout or file a lawsuit.
  • Coverage disputes: When there's ambiguity or disagreement about what your policy covers, a lawyer can provide clarity and advocate for your rights under the policy.
  • Business insurance claims: If you own a business and are dealing with commercial insurance claims (e.g., property damage, liability, or professional indemnity), a lawyer can help ensure your business receives proper coverage.
  • Third-party claims: If you're being sued for liability and your insurance company refuses to defend or indemnify you, an insurance lawyer can help enforce your coverage rights.
  • Appealing long-term disability claims: If your disability insurance claim has been denied, a lawyer can assist in gathering evidence and appealing the decision to get the benefits you deserve.

What Does an Insurance Lawyer Do?

An insurance lawyer provides a wide range of services to assist with insurance-related legal issues. These can include:

  • Reviewing insurance policies: A lawyer can review your insurance policy to ensure you understand your rights and obligations, as well as clarify what coverage is provided.
  • Filing insurance claims: Assisting with the preparation and filing of claims to ensure all necessary documentation is submitted correctly.
  • Challenging claim denials: If your claim has been denied, a lawyer can investigate the reasons for denial and file appeals or lawsuits to challenge the decision.
  • Litigating bad faith claims: Representing clients in bad faith insurance cases, where the insurer fails to act in good faith by unfairly delaying, denying, or underpaying a valid claim.
  • Negotiating settlements: Helping policyholders negotiate settlements with insurance companies to receive fair compensation for claims.
  • Defending against fraudulent claims: Representing insurance companies to defend against false or exaggerated claims filed by policyholders or third parties.
  • Handling disputes over policy language: Interpreting complex insurance policies and resolving disputes between the insured and the insurer regarding coverage limits, exclusions, and conditions.

How Are Insurance Lawyers Paid?

Insurance lawyers typically charge for their services in different ways, depending on the nature of the case and the type of insurance issue involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: For many policyholders disputing claim denials or underpayments, lawyers work on a contingency basis. This means the lawyer only gets paid if they win or settle the case, taking a percentage (usually between 25% and 40%) of the recovered amount.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing legal issues, such as bad faith lawsuits or business insurance disputes, insurance lawyers may charge an hourly rate. This rate varies depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For simpler matters, such as reviewing an insurance policy or helping file a claim, some lawyers charge a flat fee for their services.
  • Retainer: For businesses or clients with ongoing legal needs, an insurance lawyer may require a retainer fee, which is an upfront payment for future services.

It’s important to clarify the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does an Insurance Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an insurance lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer's experience, and the payment structure. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: If your lawyer works on a contingency fee basis, you won’t pay any fees upfront, but the lawyer will take a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or judgment awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Hourly rates for insurance lawyers generally range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location. Complex cases involving bad faith or high-value business claims may require significant hours, leading to higher legal costs.
  • Flat fees: For specific services, such as reviewing an insurance policy, lawyers may charge a flat fee ranging from $500 to $2,500, depending on the complexity of the task.
  • Retainers: Businesses or individuals seeking ongoing insurance legal services may pay a retainer, which can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the lawyer and scope of work.

Make sure to discuss costs and payment structures with your lawyer before proceeding to understand how much the services will cost.

Top Questions to Ask an Insurance Lawyer

Before hiring an insurance lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the right fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What experience do you have with insurance law?
Ensure the lawyer has specific experience handling cases involving your type of insurance, whether it’s auto, health, home, or business-related.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer works on contingency, hourly rates, or flat fees, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is your success rate with insurance disputes?
Ask about the lawyer’s track record in winning or settling cases similar to yours.
  4. What are my chances of success?
A good lawyer will provide an honest assessment of your case’s strengths and weaknesses and outline the possible outcomes.
  5. How long will the process take?
Get an estimate of how long it will take to resolve your claim or dispute, as some cases can extend over months or even years.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle some aspects of your case. Make sure you know who will be managing your case.

How to Check the Credibility of an Insurance Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a reputable insurance lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Review their experience in insurance law: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in insurance law and have experience with cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Search for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and professionalism.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have dealt with similar insurance issues.
  • Check for industry memberships: Membership in organizations like the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) can indicate the lawyer’s focus on insurance law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an insurance lawyer, come prepared with the following documents and information:

  • A copy of your insurance policy: Bring the policy related to your claim or dispute so the lawyer can review the coverage details.
  • Any correspondence with the insurance company: Provide copies of letters, emails, or other communications between you and your insurer regarding the claim or denial.
  • Proof of claim and supporting documents: Bring any documentation you have submitted with your claim, including receipts, invoices, photos, medical records, or repair estimates.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions you want to ask about your case, the legal process, and the potential outcomes.
  • Timeline of events: Be ready to provide a clear timeline of the incident that led to the claim and any steps you’ve taken with your insurance company.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can ensure that the lawyer has all the information they need to assess your case and provide the best legal advice.
