Attorney Lebedevitch and Olga are two of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met in my life. I had the best experience with them today. They truly helped me and put my mind at ease from the first time I called the office. They have been over the top of Mason, when Olga answered the phone, she was the most amazing compassionate, caring kind person I have ever met and was very comforting when I was so upset and confused About my situation I appreciate everything. Both of them did for me to make this experience as easy as possible if you are ever in a bad situation and need Help these are the two people for you. I have never met people that care so much about people and helping them and they truly do it with so much. It comes very natural to them. I can’t thank them enough for all their help seriously cannot say it enough if you are ever in a bind or a bad situation, please give them a call, there is nothing to do. These are two people that really make a difference in the world and really help people and I appreciate them for this and I will never forget them.

Attorney Perimenis is an amazing person and one damn good attorney. She helped me in my time of need during a domestic violence case and a child custody case where my son and I were the victims. When I thought all was lost she came and protected and defended my son and I like a guardian angel. She has gone above and beyond for my son and I and she continues to do so. I am forever grateful that I met her and I trust her completely. I cant write enough here to explain to you how satisfied I am with Georgette but if your looking for top notch legal representation, Georgette and her team are the very best hands down!!

Attorney Sullivan knows her stuff -- opposing counsel underestimate her at their own peril. In the case in which I made her acquaintance, she came prepared for every contingency, was honest about the chances of a successful outcome, and was able to cut the prosecutor's case to ribbons. She cares deeply for her clients and it shows not only in her demeanor in and out of the courtroom, but in her sharp knowledge of the law.

Attorney Barall handled my divorce after starting with another attorney. I never regretted the decision to switch to him and recommend him to others frequently. He was straight forward, responsive , and worked to address all my questions and concerns. He was professional and yet, made me feel so comfortable during a very difficult time. I was comforted in knowing he was in my corner. I highly recommend Attorney Barall! There should be more legal professionals like him!

Let me start off by first saying Edith was the most amazing paralegal I've dealt with. Its a shame Teresa was not able to perform to the same standard, let alone any standard I've seen an attorney hold themselves to. The purchase of the property was smooth and simple however there was an issue being part of the property I was entitled to having access to I was not. Teresa told me during the close "heres my card if you have any issues or need help in the future" well I ended up needing it and when I called Teresa to say I was unable to access my promised parking and that the sellers agent lied about the parking situation and I in fact did not have a spot, I was told "sorry we can't help with post close matters". So much for giving me your card then, If you expect to close and are not worried about needing helpm after the close then you will be okay. But god forbid you need help post close you won't get it here. Finding an attorney to remediate the situation was rough, they all asked the same question "what about your closing attorney?" to which I had to explain as I did above. To put it plainly Edith was amazing, Teresa was not. I truly hope I am the only person this firm has caused this level of stress. *** Edit #1 Post Response Wow what a mess, so in their response it was detailed that I was instructed to contact the HOA and the City of Hartford. It was also detailed that I had purchased the space post close. Point One - I was instructed to contact the city and the HOA which i did numerous times, they all told me the same thing. Speak to your closing attorney. They couldn't help with this as it was an issue of what was promised in the sale and they were not the responsible party. Point Two - The space was not purchased after the closing, it was said to have been included in the sale of the property along with the unit, as show in the listing. According to the CT department of consumer protection they state that real estate listing websites such as zillow and redfin are protected "a real estate broker shall exersice diligence at all times in obtaining and presenting accurate information in the brokers advertising and representation to the public." They also state that "MLS forms are deemed reliable." Point Three - The only reason i had pushed to make a claim against the brokerage in court rather than "contacting the HOA and City of Hartford" is not because I "appeard indifferant to the suggestions" its because I tried them. They know I did because I told them of the attempts before contacting them again to ask about filling a claim. If that wasn't communicated internally to the attorneys then thats not my fault, however I will not let this office misconstrue what actually happened. Point Four - In regards to "I'm Not particularly suprised Mr. Yabandeh has had a "rough time finding an attorney to bring his claim for misrepresentation" the reason being not because they didn't think it was an unviable claim. Reason being as discussed with one attorney "we have had issues with cleaning up past attorneys dirty work before and it never ends well, sorry." I truly hope this office uses this not only as a learning experiance for how to handle customer dissatisfaction but also in the field of being more dilligent in responding in a frankly repugnant manner rather than understanding the situation was poorly handled on their end.

I was attempting to locate a decades old divorce decree online with no success after several hours of trying. By chance, just happened to click on a website, not knowing it was a law firm, but a phone number attached to my question. It was after 5 pm in Connecticut, yet Mr. Stanger answered. After explaining what I was looking for, this man looked up a phone number for me to call where I could find what I was looking for. Eternally grateful to Mr. Stanger, and his customer service at no charge. Thank you for your selfless help.

My Grand children were unjustly Imorally I believe illegally taken on a OTC order from New Britain DCF managers and social workers all lied and then they refused to give my grandchildren to me based on arrest from the 90’s. This agency is quite corrupt The judges and attorney generals are all in the same bag it’s horrible they tortured my grandchildren and Mike Agranoff save them from a life of torture. 90 days of lots of hard work and dedication and they were released to me after they told me no way.DCF played dirty till the end day before a trial lots of money spent on preparation and motions they release them to me because they knew they all were wrong. I Believe without Attorney Mike Agranoff this would not of been possible. They still would’ve been torturing these two little girls New Britain DCF office should be dismantled Management needs to be changed.

Frank was not a good attorney at all. He did not represent my boyfriend properly. He completely screwed him with his sentencing and lied about what was said to the judge in court and did not contact us for over three months up until his final court date, he never answered and even blocked our number. He also did not make sure hi ls current jail credit was applied and leave us to try and scramble to tie up all these loose ends ourselves, it took forever for him to do anything. If you don’t want to do the work, don’t take the case. He begged him to move his sentencing up and he wouldn’t even do that. I do not recommend him at all. You should be ashamed of yourself playing with peoples lives this way.

Miss Levine is one of the nastiest most rudest people that I've ever met and she has no consideration for conflict of interest she represented my ex in a case and then she represented my kids she's gotten in my face multiple times telling me about myself and only taking the experience that she had with my ex and applying it to me if she was the last lawyer on Earth I would totally just throw myself to the wolves she is very biased and has no morals. If there was a way to give her less than one star I would but for this review sake because you have to give them at least one star that's what she's got buyer beware she may be cheap but she's not easy to handle and she will fight you to the end for what she thinks is right except for you're paying her so it's really you're supposed to give her your vision and she's supposed to make it happen please don't use her. This is one of the biggest warnings I can ever give somebody I don't want someone that's really in need as it says on her website she tries to help people in need to get swindled by this con artist she has no boundaries.

Marcy billed us an hour every time, for coming to her house to pay her, she breached her contract by not attending our interview that we waited almost a year for, because she was going to be on vacation that day. We had to fire her because of how unprofessional she was. We hired a new attorney that was able to attend our interview. In the mean time Marcy gave our new attorney issues forwarding our case over, and the case she prepared was a complete mess. Our new attorney asked if this was her first case! After the interview, immigration sent our documents to Levine Law instead of our new attorney, and Marcy is basically stealing the documents. She’s refusing to send them to us. We even went to the Waterford police department about this and she admitted to the officer on the phone she had possession of the documents, but told him you can come knock and I will not answer the door. Is this what you expect from a professional attorney? Or the actions of a 12 year old? I think the latter! Save your money, which I will say her price was 3k more than our new attorney would have charged us from the beginning. I highly recommend finding anyone but Levine Law to help you with any legal matter you have.

This lawyer never spoke to my son her client, never spoke to the family or answered any of my calls or texts. She is a waste of Connecticut tax payers money she should have for license taken from her. Unprofessional, a liar and doesn't care anything about her clients.

Most unprofessional "attorney" I use that term loosely...we originally spoke on the phone where I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt Ms Gomez instantly did not treat me fair nor as if she's was to provide me with a fair defense miss Gomez was against me automatically. So when I had my next and first in person meeting on Jan 24th 2023. I went in with a pleasant mood ...Most unprofessional "attorney" I use that term loosely...we originally spoke on the phone when I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt later there was absolutely something against me. Her attire was provocative with close to ever y button on her shirt. I saw everything. I know she is prejudice 100% . Please

I do realize that Mr Nanavity is a public defender and therefore most likely is over-worked with cases in the juvenile system. However, that does not allow for him to basically just be a stick figure in the court room when he is supposed to be 'fighting' for you/your child. He did not keep my child/me current on courtroom proceedings. He would forget what my child's case involved and inturn, was not an accurate support in the courtroom for my child. Sometimes he wouldn't even speak in court with the exception of stating his name for the court/Judge. He spoke and made deals with the probation officer without even speaking to my child/me. I would find out in the courtroom....can anyone say 'too late'? He did not listen he just yelled and put your child down when he actually did speak with you. He is VERY difficult to get in touch with. And equally difficult to deal with. I have many negative incidents I could mention, however, God forbid my child gets into minor trouble and ends up with Mr Nanavity again, I would not want him to be spiteful and try and get back at me through my child. He may be able to tell, or guess, at which client of his this was. Maybe not. If you cannot get a private lawyer, ask for a different public defender, if they have any. Good Luck!!!

A family member hired this attorney under the impression he was a worker's comp attorney and after 5 years he has yet to get her case resolved. He never returns her calls and his secretary is left to answer my relatives calls and at times doesn't even allow my relative to go inside the office. Unprofessional! I am baffled that it has been so long and he has yet gotten anything resolved. If he is not a worker's comp attorney, why would he take a worker's comp case???? Isn't this unethical?

What a Juvenile Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A juvenile law lawyer specializes in legal issues involving minors, including those facing criminal charges, child welfare matters, or status offenses (like truancy or curfew violations). Juvenile law lawyers aim to protect the rights of minors and advocate for rehabilitation rather than punishment in criminal cases. They also help families navigate child custody, abuse, neglect cases, and other legal matters involving children.

If your child is facing criminal charges, or you are involved in a child welfare case, a juvenile law lawyer can help protect your child’s rights and work toward the most favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Juvenile Law Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a juvenile law lawyer in the following situations where minors are involved in legal matters:

  • Juvenile criminal charges: If your child is accused of a crime, such as theft, assault, or drug offenses, a juvenile lawyer can represent them in juvenile court, advocating for leniency and alternatives to detention.
  • Delinquency proceedings: A lawyer can help navigate delinquency charges, defending your child’s rights and seeking rehabilitative outcomes like counseling, probation, or diversion programs instead of incarceration.
  • Status offenses: If your child has committed a status offense, such as truancy, running away, or underage drinking, a lawyer can help you resolve these issues in juvenile court, often focusing on rehabilitation rather than punishment.
  • School disciplinary issues: If your child is facing school suspensions, expulsions, or other disciplinary actions, a lawyer can help protect their educational rights and challenge any unfair or unlawful school policies.
  • Child protective services (CPS) investigations: If your family is being investigated by CPS for alleged abuse, neglect, or dependency, a lawyer can represent you and protect your child’s rights throughout the investigation.
  • Custody disputes: A lawyer can help in cases involving child custody or guardianship disputes, ensuring the child’s best interests are prioritized and advocating for the child’s rights.
  • Emancipation: If your child seeks legal emancipation from their parents or guardians, a lawyer can assist in navigating the legal process and help the child understand their rights and responsibilities.

Hiring a lawyer early in the legal process ensures that your child’s rights are protected and that the best possible outcomes are pursued.

What Does a Juvenile Law Lawyer Do?

A juvenile law lawyer provides various services to help minors and their families navigate the legal system. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing minors in court: A lawyer will represent your child in juvenile court, advocating for their rights and seeking rehabilitative outcomes rather than punitive measures.
  • Filing motions and legal paperwork: The lawyer handles all necessary legal filings, including petitions, responses, and motions to dismiss charges or suppress evidence.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors: In some cases, a lawyer can negotiate plea deals or diversion programs that prevent the child from having a permanent criminal record or serving time in detention.
  • Advising on rehabilitation programs: Juvenile law lawyers often focus on alternatives to incarceration, such as counseling, community service, or probation, helping minors avoid long-term legal consequences.
  • Handling CPS and child welfare cases: If your family is involved in a CPS investigation or child welfare case, the lawyer can advocate for your child’s safety and well-being, ensuring that their rights are upheld.
  • Defending minors against school discipline: A lawyer can help challenge unfair or excessive disciplinary actions taken by schools, ensuring that your child’s educational rights are protected.
  • Advising families on legal options: A lawyer will explain the juvenile legal process to families, offering advice on the best legal strategies and what to expect during the case.

How Are Juvenile Law Lawyers Paid?

Juvenile law lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many juvenile law lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For simpler cases, such as status offenses or school disciplinary hearings, a lawyer may charge a flat fee that covers all legal services related to the case.
  • Retainer: In more complex cases, such as defending against serious criminal charges or handling a long-term CPS investigation, a lawyer may require a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as they work on the case.
  • Sliding scale or pro bono services: Some juvenile law lawyers offer sliding scale fees based on income or may provide pro bono (free) services for families who cannot afford to pay full legal fees, especially in cases involving child welfare or delinquency.

Discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to understand the total cost and payment options.

How Much Does a Juvenile Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a juvenile law lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the time involved. General cost estimates include:

  • Juvenile criminal cases: Legal fees for defending a minor in juvenile criminal cases can range from $2,000 to $10,000 or more, depending on the severity of the charges and whether the case goes to trial.
  • Status offenses: For cases involving minor offenses such as truancy or underage drinking, legal fees typically range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • CPS or child welfare cases: Legal fees for representing families in CPS investigations or child welfare cases can range from $2,000 to $8,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case.
  • School disciplinary hearings: Legal fees for representing students in school-related issues may range from $1,000 to $3,500, depending on the legal work required.

Make sure to get a clear estimate of costs during your initial consultation to ensure you understand the full scope of fees and services.

Top Questions to Ask a Juvenile Law Lawyer

Before hiring a juvenile law lawyer, it’s important to ask key questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your child’s case effectively. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with juvenile law cases?
Make sure the lawyer has handled cases similar to yours, whether it’s juvenile delinquency, child custody, or CPS investigations.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, offers flat fees, or requires a retainer. Ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my child’s case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of the case, including potential challenges and likely outcomes.
  4. How long will the process take?
Juvenile cases can vary in duration, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last and what factors might affect the timeline.
  5. Will you personally handle my child’s case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of the case. Make sure you know who will be managing the case and representing your child in court.
  6. What rights does my child have?
Ask the lawyer to explain your child’s legal rights, including their rights during police questioning, school disciplinary actions, and court proceedings.

How to Check the Credibility of a Juvenile Law Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable juvenile law lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for juvenile law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in juvenile law and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate in juvenile cases.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on juvenile law matters.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Look for memberships in organizations like the National Juvenile Defender Center (NJDC) or certifications in juvenile law, which can indicate a lawyer’s dedication to representing minors.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a juvenile law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Court documents: Bring any legal documents related to your child’s case, such as summons, complaints, or court orders.
  • School records: Provide any relevant school records, including disciplinary reports, attendance records, and communications from school officials.
  • CPS or investigation reports: If your case involves child welfare, bring any reports or documentation from CPS or other investigating agencies.
  • Timeline of events: Prepare a detailed timeline of events related to your child’s legal issue, including interactions with authorities or school officials.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions about the legal process, your child’s rights, and potential outcomes for the case.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your child’s situation more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice tailored to your needs.
