I was accused of harassment. I was scared and did not know what to do. I was fortunate to find Peter Johnson. He responded to my call for help immediately. He listened, calmed me and developed a defense strategy. He instructed me about gathering the appropriate evidence to support my case. Using this data he then negotiated with opposing counsel and had this case dismissed. I expressed worries that this person could manufacture future complaints against me. At first glance the esteemed Mr Richard Leroy presents as a "down to earth" man of the people. But on further inspection, I have come to realize that he tells clients what they want to hear, then after payment, refuses to actually work for the money he so lavishly gained from his own ill-gotten ways. He neither has been destitute nor had to work a day in his life so his narcissistic views are completely lost on his potential clientel. If you want justice, seek it elsewhere. Run don't walk away from his establishment.

The first thing I must say is I am beyond thankful to have stumbled across the incredible human being, Rick, who also happens to be one hell of a lawyer.
There is no one I would recommend more as a lawyer than Rick and the firm itself (Universal Defense). If you’d like to read my long story book as to why, see below.
Unfortunately, last year I found myself needing to find a criminal defense attorney due to unforeseen life circumstances.
This was my first time in my adult life personally experiencing the state court system and I had no clue what to expect or how to navigate anything. I had paralyzing anxiety and nobody seemed to have any answer’s to help.
After hours of online research, I ended up locating Universal Defense and many other offices so I called and left dozens of voicemails. (This was very late at night.) Rick returned my call quickly and took the time to explain to my clearly overwhelmed self what the next steps looked like. He was extremely empathetic and kind throughout the whole process. Rick treated my fiancé and I with the kindness you would expect from close family from day one.
He always came to court prepared, well-dressed, and on time. Rick and his office team made sure we had all documents, courses, and court date information as needed. It was clear in court when representing us that Rick was very knowledgeably in regard to criminal law and court proceedings. He carries himself well within the court room and comes across charismatically to all parties. (Which is a phenomenal skill in the legal world, IMO)
Throughout the whole court process, Rick was able to offer recommendations and file motions to remove a NCO ultimately leading to my family being reunited. I truly believe without Rick’s expertise and assistance I would still be fighting within the court system to have my family back together.
Thankfully because of all the assistance of Rick and the Universal Defense team, I get to spend my nights at home cuddling my mini zoo (3 dogs and a cat) and my fiancé again.
Forever grateful for the assistance of Rick and Universal Defense for helping me get my life back.

This post is emotional one. The first time my family used Beau was for my brother divorce. I was very impressed how he handle everything and the advice to save attorney cost and get it moving forward in a fair manner. What attorney would help you save attorney cost?
I was so impressed I called to hire him again to get my step-father out of an abusive environment and a divorce process in motion as soon as possible. I know he worked at home to help get things done after hours. But never charge us higher rates. I cannot express how extremely emotional and painful this situation was for my step-dad and for myself. Beau not only advocate for him, but helped me through this situation as I had to keep up with putting stuff together and my own pain. When I felt I could not handle to continuing to move forward Beau helped me stand up again with encouragement. Especially in situation that I was extremely concerned about. Beau cared about every aspect we were going through not just his role he was doing for us. We had times that things that happen after hours and he was always willing to help. It is very difficult to find an attorney that does his job well (extremely well), with the extra benefit cares for his clients. When your emotions are so painful you may not be able to think about things you deserve. I can say in the divorce settlement he got more then we ever thought. I did not have to worry because Beau just took care of it. Words cannot express my appreciation for all that he did. I cannot thank him enough. I will be forever grateful. I had gotten into a car accident; and because police were called to the scene I was given a citation and a mandatory court date. We had a great experience working with Satveer Chaudhary on my spouse's visa change of status process from J2 to F1. He was incredibly patient, taking the time to answer all our questions thoroughly and helping us fill out the forms in the best way possible. My issue didn't actually make it into the courtroom, I needed someone to advocate for me from a position of having experience with the law. And I needed someone to negotiate for me, who was not emotionally attached to a situation and would be much more capable than me maintaining a level head while speaking on my behalf. Which are definitely qualities that a good criminal defense attorney should have. Mr DeMarco has what could best be described as a bulldog attitude concerning litigation. Aggressive, determined, and possessive of a personality that is charismatic, but carries an air of menace. which is thankfully directed towards his opponents on your behalf. His partner at the time Jorma Cavaleri was also quite skilled. Very deep thinking, verbose, and jovial. They actually complimented each other quite well as a team. At least personality-wise as I've said my matter never made it into a courtroom. Just the same they did manage to secure victory for me. And if you are considering hiring him as an attorney, you could definitely do far worse. And considering the amount of potentially displayed when I met him 12 years ago I'm sure he's done nothing but improved tremendously since then.
You would do yourself a disservice by not at least contacting him about a consultation.

My husband was facing 7+ years in prison, Alex worked tremendously hard on his case. Alex advised us on resources to use like a phycological evaluation, classes, chemical dependency evaluations, etc. This was a very scary situation that we were in and with Alex's hard work and determination my husband went from 7+ years in prison to a plea deal with up to 7 years of probation. I had a complicated case that dealt with an OFP given the fact that I live outside of the U.S.A.
Mr. De Marco handily prepared for the case on short notice (less than 15 days), and put my mind at ease with references to actual Minnesota state statues.
During the case he handled himself professionally, and got a dismissal of the case because in no small part to his references to Minnesota statues, and previous similar cases.
I recommend this lawyer, if you want a fair shake at winning.

Bill takes a little getting used to. He’s going to tell you it like it is. He’s a nice enough guy who’s a bit brash but easy to get along with. Leah, his assistant, is an absolute gem.
If you want Bill to get back to you, well, I hope you’re prepared to wait. And there are items that need to be resolved which can be overlooked if you don’t know what to look for.
I wasn’t completely satisfied with the outcome, but Bill was a lifesaver in a time when I had nowhere to turn.

In 2011 after sitting on probation for 6 years out of no where I was going back to court for a crime I had thought I already did my time for. But since there are some really nasty county prosecutors that enjoy being the anti christ I found out otherwise anyways the state said since I hadn't paid the entire restitution amount owed to my victim for stealing her car that after being sentenced to jail time already served and 5 years of probation which was extended another year that I was going to prison mind you this was my only offense with no probation violations besides for not paying all the 10000 dollars which was a made up number by who knows. Brian found out that I had paid the victim back in full and the county was throwing me in prison because I owed a lil bit of money to gieco insurance. Well that's not a criminal act you cant be thrown into jail cause you didnt pay last months water bill. I wonder what they were using that extra money for I doubt Polk county have it to the victim who didnt want to see this even happen anyways I got to go home and the charge was dismissed and I was instantly off probation. I feel like Polk county violated my rights and the rights of many. Not only did brian work with me on the case he also made it affordable and never hounded me for the money I mean he drove to Polk county from saint paul twice for me and he didnt hate it or charge me for his time doing so. I cant be more thankful for having him in my corner when I was being victimized by our system. Like I said Marsden is the greatest lawyer hands down. Theres not a better one out here. On a side not dont hire jeff dean hes a thief and you will simply over pay a boat load and get less services. Love you brian always greatful.

Awful. No communication, No listening, they talk a big game to get you on board and that’s when it falls apart. By and large, they don’t care what the case is. They just want your money.
Mary R was what nightmares are made of when it comes to attorneys. She had zero understanding, refused to communicate, charged me for doing nothing, and I’m unfortunately left with no other option to report not only to my Att Gen but also the Office of Prof Resp.
Bill padding for doing nothing and horrible treatment with zero communication- I will not let this go, I will see this through. Not acceptable at all.
The unprofessional actions of one attorney could end up being a messy situation for the entire firm.
