I was provided with Ven's information from another trusted attorney through my insurance agency. Ven, Tom, and Mike were incredible to work with for a little over a year. My husband was hit by a semi-driver on his way to pick up our two young boys. Tom was at my house within a few days of the initial phone call (which was well over a two hour drive for him). He sat with me in my home and listened to all the details. He then explained in detail what it would look like signing on with them, as well as what this type of case would look like. Looking back, that information at that first meeting was extremely informative and things went exactly how they said. I felt prepared every single step of the way due to these professionals. These three men were able to win with their expertise which was significant. However, they were just as concerned with our well-being and checking in on me and my sons with how we were doing throughout the entire court case. As well as making sure I was protected through the courts. I would recommended them to anyone. The way they fought in court and were there by my side every step of the way is something I will never forget. They have reached out with just 'checking in' and 'thinking of you' texts after the court dates. Which made me feel more like a person and not just a case/number to them. I had two court cases going on at the time we worked together; one with them and one through my county. They were present and helpful as they could be with the other case. I am forever grateful to all three of these attorney's and their staff. I never felt alone and I was always kept in the loop via email, text, and phone calls.

Complete professionals through and through. Every person I had the pleasure of dealing with at the firm was excellent and I could not ask for a better result. If you are having any thoughts and need help in this area call them.

Please do your research before hiring an immigration lawyer! We decided to reach out to Taft Law regarding an E2 business visa. We were told during our consultation that it would be around $6-8000. We talked it over and decided to go with them. We had a few more questions about the process in the next following days and we had told them we were going to go through with it and pay a retainer. After the first initial email we got from them me and my wife decided that we were no longer interested in pursuing that visa. Not because of the law firm but we decided that it was too risky of business for us and decided not to proceed. I sent them an email saying I was sorry and no longer wanted to proceed and apologized for wasting there time and that I was going to pay them for there time they had spent on our file. We had a 45 min consultation, a 15 min phone call followed by a 20 minute phone call. We had no idea that every second of each phone call was being billed out at $480/hour. Long story short they charged us $1740 for a Zoom Consultation, 2 phone calls and an email. And they said that price included things that they didn’t charge for as well, as if they were giving us a break at that price. I feel like they threw the charges at us only because we were no longer working with them. They quoted us 6-8k for the visa and they did about 5% of the work and billed us $1740? Something doesn’t add up. Unfair billing practices! I don’t expect them to work for FREE but $1740 for an email, 2 phone calls and a consultation is ridiculous. I would highly suggest you go elsewhere where they are more transparent with their prices. We are out the $1740 but it’s probably best as there quote of 6-8k would probably end up being 10-14k.

I'll disclaim that I was not a client of theirs. I worked there on a temporary basis as an attorney. They would top my list of firms to retain for environmental/toxic torts/pharma and related fields. They have firepower with the skills and experience you would want in a law firm. They also have expertise in other sophisticated plaintiffs work, including securities law. Based on my experience with the other practice group, I have zero doubt that they would be great at everything they do. The Detroit office is not large but they collaborate very well with lawyers in their larger offices, New York and California, which allows they to draw on a wide range of talent and experts (like Erin Brockovich, yes, really).

Hello, I was referred to Mr. Ogletree. Called him regarding a situation. He was busy at the time; however, he made time for me. That’s what you call “ concerned and caring”. He took my call. In addition to he followed up and took my case. Mr. Ogletree was very polite. I no longer had to be worried or anxious about my situation. Knowing that, I wasn’t about to face things alone, that someone would represent me in a short time. My situation was resolved before my actual court date and I thank him so much. That day, I made twenty calls before, I was able to reach someone that cared. I can’t thank him enough and I would use him again, if I needed too.

I think the lone negative review is someone who expects attorneys to work for free, based on what he says. They should have tried the State Bar Lawyer Referral Service where you can get 25 minutes of (possibly bad) advice for $25. Mr Ogletree, on the other hand, is knowledgeable and precise, I personally saw that he worked tirelessly on a civil suit and isn't someone I would want to go up against on the other side. I also understand he is very fair to his clients about rates.

I just had a consultation with Mr. Ogletree. He was more interested in money and how he would get paid rather than in the person on the phone speaking with him for a consultation regarding a life-threatening, crisis situation. For a climbing "super lawyer" I had hopes that he truly had the qualifications this situation, which requires legal expertise, critical thinking skills, a heart, and appropriate legal evaluation and assessment skills. His advice and recommendations were beyond ridiculous, given the scope of what was explained clearly and concisely to him. Having worked with all levels of law I would not recommend him in any capacity given his poor, borderline first-year law student advice. I question whether or not he truly does know the law and does qualify for this "super lawyer" and climbing superstar status he is alleged to have. I would not recommend him to my enemy. Beware. He does not care about your situation, he showed blatant in difference except to how he would get his money. Don't waste your time.

Do note that this institution will take far longer than any other to process a simple transcript request. Everywhere else does this electronically in one hour, this institution will take a full week - even though they receive $1,000 per credit hour more than any other institution.

At the beginning of 2024, I worked with Cody Black shortly after my Mother-In-Law passed away. She became sick, and things escalated quickly. We didn't have much time to react. Cody helped keep my wife and I sane throughout the process, and was there to offer advice every step of the way. Cody went out of his way to come meet with us in person on multiple occasions to help speed up the process, knowing that we were juggling a lot of emotions, and needing to physically be in the hospital for days on end. Cody's preparation helped save many headaches because of the knowledge and guidance he was able to provide leading up to the date of her passing. I would highly recommend reaching out to Cody in order to get estate planning in check. He taught me that it is never to early to start thinking about it. It is difficult to understand all the nuances, and having someone who has the knowledge there to help answer your questions, offer guidance, and be by your side through some incredibly tough times is invaluable. Cody was just that for us.

Naomi Woloshin was a pleasure to work with. She handled an uncontested but financially complex divorce for me. During the consultation I described the type of legal support I wanted, and this is exactly what she delivered. She guided me through the process and was always available when I had questions. The case was completed on time and without complication. She set a very reasonable retainer for the case, and then completed the work with $$ to spare! The support staff in her office is also very helpful. I enthusiastically recommend Naomi Woloshin.

Jenna has facilitated several cases for me. She was easy to contact and handled her own scheduling which really simplified the process. She was prompt and prepared for the facilitations and was personable (gentle but firm) when dealing with me and my client. I appreciate her diplomatic but honest assessment of my cases. I highly recommend her as either a facilitator or neutral arbitrator.

THIS LADY ENDED UP TAKING MY CASE;WHICH WAS GOING EXCELENT AND LOOKING FAVORABLE; WHEN THE ORIGINAL ATTORNEY LEFT THE FIRM. REASONS UNKNOWN AND UNBENOUNCED TO ME. SHE AND THE FIRM NEVER INFORMED ME OF THE CHANGE AND I ONLY FOUND OUT WHEN I LOOKED ON LINE AT CASE ACTIONS THAT SHE HAD MISSED 2 MAJOR COURT HEARINGS. I SHOULD OF FIRED HER ESPECIALLY HOW RUDE SHE WAS TO ME WHEN I FINALLY DID REACH HER 3 MTHS AFTER SHEDE TAKEN OVER. INSTEAD SHE TALKED ME INTO IT AND I KEPT HER ON. ONLY FOR HER TO NEVER NOTIFY ME OF ANY CASE HAPPENING AND THE OPPSING COUNCLE TRYING TO DISMISS. THE SECOND TO LAST HEARING I FOUND OUT THE DAY BEFORE AND SHOWED UP IN COURT. THE JUDGE AND DEFENSE HAD NO IDEA WHO I EVEN WAS.YET MY CASE WAS DISMISSED BECAUSE OF A FINE THAT WAS TO BE PAID FOR MISSED COURT APPOINTMENTS AND SHE REFUSED TO COUGH UP THE THOUSAND DOLLARS. I CERTAINLY HAD NO CHANCE OF TRIPING ON THAT KIND OF MONEY IN 24 HOURS ;AND SHE HAD KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR 7 AND HALF WEEKS. I WOULDNT EVEN TELL MY WORST ENEMY TO HIRE THIS CHIC.

What a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Can Do for You

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer, often referred to as a litigation lawyer, specializes in handling legal conflicts between individuals, businesses, or organizations. These lawyers represent clients in civil lawsuits, helping to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation in court. They can assist with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, property disputes, business conflicts, personal injury claims, and more.

If you are involved in a legal conflict and need representation, a dispute lawyer can guide you through the litigation process - from filing or defending against a lawsuit to negotiating settlements or representing you at trial.

When Should I Hire a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer when you're involved in a legal disagreement that cannot be resolved informally and may require legal action. Common reasons to hire a lawyer include:

  • Breach of contract: If someone has failed to fulfill the terms of a contract, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit to seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Whether it's a partnership disagreement, shareholder conflict, or a dispute with a supplier or customer, a lawyer can help resolve business-related issues.
  • Property disputes: If you're involved in a dispute over property ownership, boundary issues, or landlord-tenant conflicts, a lawyer can assist in resolving the matter.
  • Personal injury claims: If you were injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a lawyer can represent you in a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Debt collection or defense: If you're being sued for unpaid debts or need to collect a debt owed to you, a lawyer can represent you in court or negotiate settlements.
  • Employment disputes: If you're involved in an employment-related dispute, such as wrongful termination or discrimination, a lawyer can help you file a claim and represent you in court.
  • Defending against a lawsuit: If you've been sued, a lawyer can defend you against the claims, challenge the evidence, and negotiate a settlement or represent you at trial.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help ensure that your case is properly managed and that your rights are protected throughout the dispute resolution process.

What Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Do?

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients navigate legal conflicts and seek resolution. Their tasks typically include:

  • Evaluating your case: Reviewing the facts and evidence to determine the strength of your case or defense and advising you on the best course of action.
  • Filing lawsuits or responding to lawsuits: If you're the plaintiff, the lawyer will file a lawsuit on your behalf. If you're the defendant, they will respond to the lawsuit and build a defense strategy.
  • Gathering evidence: Collecting and reviewing evidence such as contracts, emails, financial records, and witness statements to support your case.
  • Handling negotiations: Negotiating with the opposing party to reach a settlement before the case goes to trial, which can save time and money.
  • Representing you in court: Presenting your case in court if a settlement cannot be reached, including presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments on your behalf.
  • Exploring alternative dispute resolution (ADR): Suggesting mediation or arbitration as alternatives to a trial, which can be faster and less expensive.
  • Drafting legal documents: Preparing and filing necessary legal documents such as complaints, motions, and responses, as well as drafting settlement agreements if a resolution is reached.

How Are Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyers Paid?

The fee structure for lawsuit or dispute lawyers varies depending on the complexity of the case, the type of dispute, and the lawyer's experience. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Many lawsuit lawyers charge by the hour, especially for cases that require extensive preparation, research, and trial work. Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Contingency fee: In certain cases, such as personal injury or breach of contract claims, a lawyer may work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win the case, usually taking a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as filing a simple lawsuit or representing you in mediation, some lawyers may charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: In complex cases or long-term litigation, a lawyer may ask for a retainer, which is an upfront payment to secure their services. The lawyer will then bill against the retainer as they work on the case.

Discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how fees will be handled throughout the case.

How Much Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer's experience, and the fee structure they use. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Lawyers may charge between $150 and $500 per hour, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases requiring extensive trial preparation.
  • Contingency fees: If your lawyer works on a contingency basis, expect them to take 25% to 40% of any settlement or court award. For example, if you win $100,000 and the contingency fee is 33%, the lawyer would receive $33,000.
  • Flat fees: For less complex disputes or tasks, such as drafting a settlement agreement or representing you in mediation, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the scope of work.
  • Retainers: Some lawyers require an upfront retainer fee, which can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the case complexity and expected litigation length.

Make sure to ask for a detailed breakdown of fees during your consultation so you know what to expect.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer

Before hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has handled similar disputes and is familiar with the relevant area of law.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether they charge hourly, on a contingency fee basis, or offer flat fees, and ask for a detailed cost estimate.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and potential challenges.
  4. Have you handled cases that went to trial?
If a trial is possible, confirm the lawyer has courtroom experience.
  5. How long will the process take?
Get an estimate of the timeline for resolving your dispute.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
Understand who will manage your case and their level of involvement.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary actions.
  • Look for relevant experience: Review their website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in litigation or dispute resolution.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for feedback on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should provide references from past clients.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation can indicate expertise.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Contracts or agreements: Copies of any signed contracts or relevant agreements.
  • Emails and communications: Any written communication between you and the other party.
  • Evidence of the dispute: Receipts, financial records, photos, or witness statements related to the conflict.
  • Timeline of events: A clear chronology of the dispute, including key dates and interactions.
  • List of questions: Prepared questions about your case, the legal process, costs, and strategy.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide you with the best legal advice on how to proceed.
