Eric Brever is terrible at returning correspondence. I would never use this law firm again, due to this attorneys disregard for their clients timeliness. I don’t think I’d be asking for anything to grand by assuming I should be able to get an email response within a few days……. It’s much worse. These emails go unanswered, or are no longer pertinent after finally getting a response as much as 30 days later. I would have much preferred that he be a professional and tell me that he either doesn’t want to represent me, or that he’s too busy. If you need a simple LLC set up (very easy for an average person) he’s capable of pulling that off correctly, but I’d really be leery of trusting him with a timely matter, or if you are looking for a response even.

A rare, unfortunate medical injury incident happened to me and I felt very alone, disappointed, and frustrated after calling many different law offices in my state and being turned away. I turned to a Facebook group to air my grievance & seek comfort in a support group. Someone responded with an ad they had seen where OFT Law was seeking anyone who had been affected by my issue. Bart responded to my email immediately and was comforting, helpful and very professional. Everything about this firm’s representation was flawless. Everyone I interacted with were perfect communicators who made sure my husband and I understood every step of the process. I highly recommend trusting these amazing folks with legal counsel. The outcome of our situation greatly exceeded our expectations. Thank you all so much!

I had the exact same experience as Wade except I'm the mother who got ran over by a bus. Marso was bias and I lost everything because of her opinion and falsifying information. Wouldn't be surprised if other attorneys recommend her specifically in favor of their clients and Virginia or as the other party would call her "Ginny", gets a kickback (that's what appeared to be happening to my case). This woman needs to be debarred. I never seen such manipulation, Virginia had her mind made up prior to even meeting me. Aggressively raised her voice at me at McDonald's in St. Cloud with my children in the play center. I never stopped fighting either!

Carol was attentive, compassionate, knowledgeable and skilled in her representation of me. The outcome was better than we had hoped for. I had fired a previous attorney due to neglect. Carol was the exact opposite in how she handled my case. I couldn't have been more grateful.

I hired Carol after my daughter's mother was refusing to let me see my daughter becasue I was engaged to a woman she did not like (despite never meeting my now wife) Carol did more then I had expected. I now have 50/50 joint physical & legal custody. She got us set up with the My Family Wizard app so my daughters mother is not able to harass us anymore either. Carol is a strong willed and persistent woman. Words cant describe my thanks for Carol. This was a very messy case, my ex was coming up with every false accusation you can imagine, she attempted restraining orders and you name it she did it or said it. My family is blessed becasue of Carol. My daughter is happy and I now have her more time then I ever did. I highly recommend Carol if you are seeking a lawyer

My cousin and I both had Kelly as our attorney, my case was a divorce, my cousin's was a child support case. I found Kelly from a recommendation by a co-worker, and I was not at all sure what to expect from her or the process, but I am so glad that I contacted her. My ex dragged the case out, paid his attorney huge fees to file needless documents, and generally made my life, and our kids' lives, suck for quite a while. Kelly cut past all of that, kept me focused when I was on the verge of falling apart, was efficient and knew the county and the process very well. My cousin's case was shorter and less traumatic, but we both felt that Kelly did a great job and did not waste our money with busywork.

Told me (her former client) to basically shut up and that she was building a networking relationship with my ex's attorney rather than listen to what my needs were. Made me feel worthless for having judicare and that I should be thanking her for her services. (Rude) Showed up 5 minutes before court, never met her before that, not time to prepare. I had her on speaker phone so my coworkers could listen to her as she said I was 'arguing' but I was only trying to tell her papers I was served. She never found that out because she didn't listen. Couldn't get paperwork right, always messing up if I was the petitioner or respondent. I had to correct her. Has no personality and she is not a good attorney or human being. She has no heart

Top notch service. I hired Dudley and Smith Firm to represent me in a personal injury case. The firm accepted my case after a local firm mishandled my case. This case was a rather difficult one due to the prior attorney incompetence. Dudley and Smith took the time and explained everything to me. I was offered $71,000.00 for my case by the insurance company before Dudley and Smith worked their magic. At the end of the day let's just say I am very pleased with much more than the offer. I would recommend these lawyers to anyone I know. Thank you

I am a local immigration attorney who needed some legal counsel from this firm. They came highly recommended by another well known attorney. Unfortunately, this firm is a HUGE disappointment to all consumers alike. I hope someone at big business reads this review. There is no onboarding process for this firm. None. You are at the mercy even as a colleague of poorly trained staff and assistants to get someone to pay attention to your case. The communication with this firm has been awful. Emails unanswered. Phone calls ignored. The firm waisted about 2.5 months of my client's case only to send a snarky response that they decline to represent, which is not what we were looking for (we needed a second opinion on case value). The employee (law clerk) who was assigned to our case left midway our project. No one got back to us on that. In sum, take your business elsewhere as I would say this firm has a chronic internal management problem that will continue into representation. If my prospective clients in my firm were treated this way, I would be fired on the spot and rightfully so. If my staff treated anyone the way we were treated, they would be fired on the spot as well for cause. Take note!

Grant talks a great game ! He tells you what you want to hear and then stabs you in the back ! I truly trusted Grant ! I told him everything he was at my house,my parents house and my brother's house. He met my dog ! In 2016 Grant was my attorney for a BB gun that was my son's that he gotten for Xmas the charge was felon in possession of a firearm and a meth pipe! I was scared of going to prison ! I kept saying that the police voliated my rights! About 6 months later Grant fills out this plea agreement for me and then gets me to come and sign the last page ! Because I truly trusted him and HE NEVER said anything about the illegal search of my car and I believe I am bi polar and don't understand what things I sign ! I sign! I JUST FOUND OUT November 2021 that YES the police voliated my rights and that the state went to dismiss the case and then Grant Sanders lied, tricked, cons me to make a plea !!!! My life is completely distroyed as this result !! I have even thought about killing myself! Grant Sanders should not ever represent anybody

"Grant was appointed to represent me over 7 years ago when my public defender was called away from work. I was concerned that my matter would not get the attention it needed. Boy, was I surprised. Grant took the time to listen to me, gather the facts of the case (my prior public defender never had), and was willing to "take on" the judge when there were some unfavorable rulings. With his legal research and strategy, he was able to move the custody case out of a county where the judge had a bias against me. The result: a child protection case was dismissed, and I was granted sole legal and physical custody of my children. "If you're a married or single father, contact Grant. He is an advocate for a father's rights. He will do everything in his power to assist you. I have Grant on 'speed dial' should any issues arise with the mother of my children. Grant's service was more than I expected from an appointed lawyer- and my children consider him their "guardian angel." What distinguishes Grant is that he listens to you and cares about the outcome of your case. I wholeheartedly recommend Grant for any family or child protection matter."

I was referred to this group for a special needs trust. They basically charged me over $450.00, didn't listen, made assumptions, and finally said they were "too expensive" but have to bill me for the first hour. Needless to say, I ended the engagement. I would not recommend this law firm to anyone unless you're interested in wasting money on expensive, inexperienced lawyers that don't take their time to review your request but still charge their high rate.

The prior reviewer's comments are spot on in every way. From her unprofessional and combative manner to her unsubstantiated accussations to her lack of listening skills, she not only exacerbated the ill will between me and my ex but simultaneously damaged my poor children for whom she was supposedly advocating for as parenting consultant. She is downright rude, doesn't discern fact from fiction, can't recall her own decisions even though she authored them, and lacks follow through. She overly inserts herself into the case matters and creates issues instead of resolving them....why? Why not? From her perspective each set of co parents is viewed as a revenue stream. It isn't about helping two ex partners resolve issues relative to the children they are co parenting, it is about the money...

Mary Lauhead at times does not see the unintended consequences of her approach towards litigation. While she can be an ardent advocate for her client, she doesn't realize her combative manner alienates co-parents and eliminates any good will. She makes unsubstantiated accussations designed to character assassinate the opposite side. I have found her to be lacking in civility, always combative, and seeks to always have the last word. She is not a good listener and has ruined my relationship with my former spouse.

I would strongly discourage anyone from hiring Susan Gallagher. I retained her to work on a child support modification and custody issue. When we first met, she charged me $800 for an initial consult. She said that she was finishing up one case and was taking a short vacation but would get to work on my case immediately after that. After two months, I had heard nothing so I called Susan. It took another two weeks to get a meeting, and she remembered little about our initial consultation and we had to start over. At that point, she swore at me and criticized me for the way I had handled past events. I realized then that I had made a mistake and terminated her retainer agreement. Subsequently, she charged me to copy my file, even though she was instructed not to and was no longer working on my case. She has refused to refund the balance of my retainer for those copying costs. Working with Susan Gallagher was a terrible experience and a waste of money.

What a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Can Do for You

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer, often referred to as a litigation lawyer, specializes in handling legal conflicts between individuals, businesses, or organizations. These lawyers represent clients in civil lawsuits, helping to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation in court. They can assist with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, property disputes, business conflicts, personal injury claims, and more.

If you are involved in a legal conflict and need representation, a dispute lawyer can guide you through the litigation process - from filing or defending against a lawsuit to negotiating settlements or representing you at trial.

When Should I Hire a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer when you're involved in a legal disagreement that cannot be resolved informally and may require legal action. Common reasons to hire a lawyer include:

  • Breach of contract: If someone has failed to fulfill the terms of a contract, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit to seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Whether it's a partnership disagreement, shareholder conflict, or a dispute with a supplier or customer, a lawyer can help resolve business-related issues.
  • Property disputes: If you're involved in a dispute over property ownership, boundary issues, or landlord-tenant conflicts, a lawyer can assist in resolving the matter.
  • Personal injury claims: If you were injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a lawyer can represent you in a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Debt collection or defense: If you're being sued for unpaid debts or need to collect a debt owed to you, a lawyer can represent you in court or negotiate settlements.
  • Employment disputes: If you're involved in an employment-related dispute, such as wrongful termination or discrimination, a lawyer can help you file a claim and represent you in court.
  • Defending against a lawsuit: If you've been sued, a lawyer can defend you against the claims, challenge the evidence, and negotiate a settlement or represent you at trial.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help ensure that your case is properly managed and that your rights are protected throughout the dispute resolution process.

What Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Do?

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients navigate legal conflicts and seek resolution. Their tasks typically include:

  • Evaluating your case: Reviewing the facts and evidence to determine the strength of your case or defense and advising you on the best course of action.
  • Filing lawsuits or responding to lawsuits: If you're the plaintiff, the lawyer will file a lawsuit on your behalf. If you're the defendant, they will respond to the lawsuit and build a defense strategy.
  • Gathering evidence: Collecting and reviewing evidence such as contracts, emails, financial records, and witness statements to support your case.
  • Handling negotiations: Negotiating with the opposing party to reach a settlement before the case goes to trial, which can save time and money.
  • Representing you in court: Presenting your case in court if a settlement cannot be reached, including presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments on your behalf.
  • Exploring alternative dispute resolution (ADR): Suggesting mediation or arbitration as alternatives to a trial, which can be faster and less expensive.
  • Drafting legal documents: Preparing and filing necessary legal documents such as complaints, motions, and responses, as well as drafting settlement agreements if a resolution is reached.

How Are Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyers Paid?

The fee structure for lawsuit or dispute lawyers varies depending on the complexity of the case, the type of dispute, and the lawyer's experience. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Many lawsuit lawyers charge by the hour, especially for cases that require extensive preparation, research, and trial work. Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Contingency fee: In certain cases, such as personal injury or breach of contract claims, a lawyer may work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win the case, usually taking a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as filing a simple lawsuit or representing you in mediation, some lawyers may charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: In complex cases or long-term litigation, a lawyer may ask for a retainer, which is an upfront payment to secure their services. The lawyer will then bill against the retainer as they work on the case.

Discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how fees will be handled throughout the case.

How Much Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer's experience, and the fee structure they use. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Lawyers may charge between $150 and $500 per hour, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases requiring extensive trial preparation.
  • Contingency fees: If your lawyer works on a contingency basis, expect them to take 25% to 40% of any settlement or court award. For example, if you win $100,000 and the contingency fee is 33%, the lawyer would receive $33,000.
  • Flat fees: For less complex disputes or tasks, such as drafting a settlement agreement or representing you in mediation, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the scope of work.
  • Retainers: Some lawyers require an upfront retainer fee, which can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the case complexity and expected litigation length.

Make sure to ask for a detailed breakdown of fees during your consultation so you know what to expect.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer

Before hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has handled similar disputes and is familiar with the relevant area of law.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether they charge hourly, on a contingency fee basis, or offer flat fees, and ask for a detailed cost estimate.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and potential challenges.
  4. Have you handled cases that went to trial?
If a trial is possible, confirm the lawyer has courtroom experience.
  5. How long will the process take?
Get an estimate of the timeline for resolving your dispute.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
Understand who will manage your case and their level of involvement.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary actions.
  • Look for relevant experience: Review their website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in litigation or dispute resolution.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for feedback on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should provide references from past clients.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation can indicate expertise.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Contracts or agreements: Copies of any signed contracts or relevant agreements.
  • Emails and communications: Any written communication between you and the other party.
  • Evidence of the dispute: Receipts, financial records, photos, or witness statements related to the conflict.
  • Timeline of events: A clear chronology of the dispute, including key dates and interactions.
  • List of questions: Prepared questions about your case, the legal process, costs, and strategy.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide you with the best legal advice on how to proceed.
