Rude interaction with Beth. Asked for some basic advice and was effectively shooed off with a rude response and no actual legal advice. When I followed up I was ignored. Found another lawyer from another firm who was extremely kind and respectful and has put my worries at ease. Would not advise to use this company.

We worked with Vicky and her team and they truly are top tier. We recently purchased a coop and they have been so helpful, and always willing to answer our millions of questions. We appreciate the speed, diligence, and transparency of the team throughout the process. It was very important that we felt comfortable and confident about the people we decided to work with and Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson, LLP were the right fit for us. As first time home buyers this whole home buying process was very new to us but they walked us through each step and kept us aware of important timeliness. At the closing table although Vicky was unable to attend her coworker Lillian was there and walked us through each of the closing documents giving us an overview of each and explaining any questions that we had. We highly recommend them and will definetly use them again if we need a real estate attorney in the future.

Lilian Chance from AGMB is truly outstanding! Her expertise in real estate law is unmatched, and she went above and beyond to ensure my first time home buying experience was seamless and stress-free. She was incredibly responsive, explained every detail in clear terms, and addressed all my questions with patience and professionalism. Her keen attention to detail and proactive approach made me feel confident throughout the process. I couldn’t have asked for better legal representation and highly recommend Lilian to anyone needing a top-tier real estate attorney. An absolute pleasure to work with!

Yogi Patel is an exceptional employment attorney. He provided me with timely and valuable guidance through a complicated separation from my former employer. He was well-informed and knowledgeable of labor laws, and a great communicator in speech and writing. Don’t let his calm demeanor and affable personality fool you, he is also a tough negotiator. He coached me through an evolving situation, working through various complex scenarios, and continually helped me understand my choices, identifying pros and cons and prospects for success. He fought tirelessly for me which ultimately resulted in a much better outcome for me.

This law firm has stolen $2,602.50 from my company by disputing charges for goods that they had received and signed and paid for. There was no negative feedback on the goods they received and they said they would still "like to do business with you". They are a multi million dollar company - we are a small 4 person firm that has been providing these services to Mr. John McDonough of the Cozen O'Connor law firm at 45 Broadway, 16th floor. NYC for many years. They refuse to take my calls or return the money they stole from my company. I would be very hesitant to business with such shoddy characters.

New York Attorney General Letitia James has demonstrated a pattern of overreach and questionable judgment that raises serious concerns about her fitness for office. Her relentless pursuit of former President Donald Trump, culminating in a civil lawsuit alleging financial fraud, appears to be driven more by personal vendetta than by objective legal standards. This has led to accusations of conducting a biased investigation, undermining the integrity of her office. Moreover, James has faced criticism for her handling of internal matters within her own office. Notably, her longtime chief of staff, Ibrahim Khan, resigned amid sexual harassment allegations, prompting questions about her leadership and the internal culture she fosters. In addition, her recent directive to New York hospitals to continue gender-affirming procedures for minors, despite a federal executive order to the contrary, has been labeled as reckless and dangerous. This move not only defies federal authority but also places healthcare institutions in a precarious legal position. These actions collectively suggest that Letitia James prioritizes personal and political agendas over her duty to uphold the law impartially. Such behavior is unbecoming of the state’s highest legal officer and warrants serious consideration of her removal from office. She needs to be Fired!!!

What an absolute CROOK. Borelli & Associates lied to me numerous times. They played bait and switch, took months to file a notice of claim that should have only taken weeks, were hardly reachable with piss poor customer service, and so petty that they actually sent me an invoice for $8.95 for postage fees after they charged me almost $6,000.00 for a notice of claim against the City of New York, applying a state law that the city is exempt from. If they were competant attorneys, they would have known that and told me from the start, instead of wasting my time and money while stringing me along. Do yourself a favor and hire a real attorney, not these shoe makers!

I have several issues with how my case was handled by the attorney. The biggest being the fact that he was repeatedly asked to request for attorney fees be included in our arbitration case and he told me that we did not need to do so which turned out not to be the case per the award letter. The attorney allowed a time extension to the respondent without getting my approval (this was against my wishes). The attorney was pushy about allowing additional time to the respondent. The attorney recommended we settle for basically what I had already paid in legal costs. In addition to generally being last minute, unprepared, short, dismissive, poor at legal positioning, and poor at communicating. I gave the attorney notice of my intention to file a complaint since then he has not attempted to reach out to me. I would not recommend you use this attorney based on the service he provided.

I have never posted a publicly negative review, but as a scorned client, I feel it is my duty to warn potential victims of this firm. Stuart was hired for a case and nothing was done for almost 3 years, except for 34 ADJOURNMENTS, (all of which were billed for). I received multiple duplicate charges on my bills and specifically asked for him to file certain motions that were never done. I lost out on half of what I was entitled to, and had to settle with the other side just for my sheer sanity. This office is now threatening to sue ME for money owed, after I paid them over $5ook and lost in the end due to Stuart's incompetency. To any potential clients, find another attorney who actually passed Ethics in law school.

These employees are wildly rude and incompetent. I arrived at DC37 vision center to schedule an appointment since I was in the area already. The lady greeted at me by staring at me until I said hello. She then said I couldn't schedule an appointment then but I could call the following Monday and schedule for October (it was mid Sept, ok?). No explanation as to why this is this case. I asked her if I could use my prescription I already had, and not only could she not answer the question but she indicated that it was not part of her job to know this...? Seriously. So I called on Monday. Even though my voucher expired 10/05, an employee told me I could not schedule on 10/01 because it "was too close to the expiration date" (again, really?) she was unable to explain this reasoning. I then called the optical plan people, who had no clue why the vision center was refusing to schedule me, and agreed that they probably just don't know how expiration dates work. AVOID IF POSSIBLE. Fortunately, it's free though the union and that is why they get a single star.

I then called the optical plan people, who had no clue why the vision center was refusing to schedule me, and agreed that they probably just don't know how expiration dates work. AVOID IF POSSIBLE. Fortunately, it's free though the union and that is why they get a single star.

What a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Can Do for You

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer, often referred to as a litigation lawyer, specializes in handling legal conflicts between individuals, businesses, or organizations. These lawyers represent clients in civil lawsuits, helping to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation in court. They can assist with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, property disputes, business conflicts, personal injury claims, and more.

If you are involved in a legal conflict and need representation, a dispute lawyer can guide you through the litigation process - from filing or defending against a lawsuit to negotiating settlements or representing you at trial.

When Should I Hire a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer when you're involved in a legal disagreement that cannot be resolved informally and may require legal action. Common reasons to hire a lawyer include:

  • Breach of contract: If someone has failed to fulfill the terms of a contract, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit to seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Whether it's a partnership disagreement, shareholder conflict, or a dispute with a supplier or customer, a lawyer can help resolve business-related issues.
  • Property disputes: If you're involved in a dispute over property ownership, boundary issues, or landlord-tenant conflicts, a lawyer can assist in resolving the matter.
  • Personal injury claims: If you were injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a lawyer can represent you in a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Debt collection or defense: If you're being sued for unpaid debts or need to collect a debt owed to you, a lawyer can represent you in court or negotiate settlements.
  • Employment disputes: If you're involved in an employment-related dispute, such as wrongful termination or discrimination, a lawyer can help you file a claim and represent you in court.
  • Defending against a lawsuit: If you've been sued, a lawyer can defend you against the claims, challenge the evidence, and negotiate a settlement or represent you at trial.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help ensure that your case is properly managed and that your rights are protected throughout the dispute resolution process.

What Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Do?

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients navigate legal conflicts and seek resolution. Their tasks typically include:

  • Evaluating your case: Reviewing the facts and evidence to determine the strength of your case or defense and advising you on the best course of action.
  • Filing lawsuits or responding to lawsuits: If you're the plaintiff, the lawyer will file a lawsuit on your behalf. If you're the defendant, they will respond to the lawsuit and build a defense strategy.
  • Gathering evidence: Collecting and reviewing evidence such as contracts, emails, financial records, and witness statements to support your case.
  • Handling negotiations: Negotiating with the opposing party to reach a settlement before the case goes to trial, which can save time and money.
  • Representing you in court: Presenting your case in court if a settlement cannot be reached, including presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments on your behalf.
  • Exploring alternative dispute resolution (ADR): Suggesting mediation or arbitration as alternatives to a trial, which can be faster and less expensive.
  • Drafting legal documents: Preparing and filing necessary legal documents such as complaints, motions, and responses, as well as drafting settlement agreements if a resolution is reached.

How Are Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyers Paid?

The fee structure for lawsuit or dispute lawyers varies depending on the complexity of the case, the type of dispute, and the lawyer's experience. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Many lawsuit lawyers charge by the hour, especially for cases that require extensive preparation, research, and trial work. Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Contingency fee: In certain cases, such as personal injury or breach of contract claims, a lawyer may work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win the case, usually taking a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as filing a simple lawsuit or representing you in mediation, some lawyers may charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: In complex cases or long-term litigation, a lawyer may ask for a retainer, which is an upfront payment to secure their services. The lawyer will then bill against the retainer as they work on the case.

Discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how fees will be handled throughout the case.

How Much Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer's experience, and the fee structure they use. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Lawyers may charge between $150 and $500 per hour, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases requiring extensive trial preparation.
  • Contingency fees: If your lawyer works on a contingency basis, expect them to take 25% to 40% of any settlement or court award. For example, if you win $100,000 and the contingency fee is 33%, the lawyer would receive $33,000.
  • Flat fees: For less complex disputes or tasks, such as drafting a settlement agreement or representing you in mediation, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the scope of work.
  • Retainers: Some lawyers require an upfront retainer fee, which can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the case complexity and expected litigation length.

Make sure to ask for a detailed breakdown of fees during your consultation so you know what to expect.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer

Before hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has handled similar disputes and is familiar with the relevant area of law.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether they charge hourly, on a contingency fee basis, or offer flat fees, and ask for a detailed cost estimate.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and potential challenges.
  4. Have you handled cases that went to trial?
If a trial is possible, confirm the lawyer has courtroom experience.
  5. How long will the process take?
Get an estimate of the timeline for resolving your dispute.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
Understand who will manage your case and their level of involvement.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary actions.
  • Look for relevant experience: Review their website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in litigation or dispute resolution.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for feedback on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should provide references from past clients.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation can indicate expertise.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Contracts or agreements: Copies of any signed contracts or relevant agreements.
  • Emails and communications: Any written communication between you and the other party.
  • Evidence of the dispute: Receipts, financial records, photos, or witness statements related to the conflict.
  • Timeline of events: A clear chronology of the dispute, including key dates and interactions.
  • List of questions: Prepared questions about your case, the legal process, costs, and strategy.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide you with the best legal advice on how to proceed.
