I want to send a huge thanks to Attorney Bruce Woodbury. I had an issue with my landlord and was at risk of losing my home. Mr. Woodbury addressed my case right away and I was able to stay in my residence. I'm disabled and on a fixed income, but he treated me with the same diligence and respect as he would have a client with limitless finances. I'm forever grateful, He was literally a Godsend.

I did not have a very good experience with this company. My mom passed away almost a year ago and some of her assists needed to go through probate. We came here for assistance. Every thing was going fine until 3 days before the court date I got an email and call from Joanne who stated she needed more information for the courts. At this time I was in Columbia about to board a plane home and did not have access to anything, also confused as we had spoken to the lawyer 4 months prior to the court date and they just now had realized they needed more information. I am assuming that because of not having the needed information the court date was bumped back from April to June. I then called Joanne asking how to obtain my moms money knowing that they had a check from Macys which my aunt had brought to them. Instead of answering my question Joanne sent me a list of my mom’s assets. When my aunt went over to talk with Joanne she proceeds to tell my aunt that they do not owe us any money. 2 months later after my aunt had gone over multiple time and them telling me that they have sent the check, my aunt was able to get the check. Me, my brother, and step dad do not live in Nevada and felt that this company took advantage of that. Joanne was very rude to me at times when I called her for information. I do not recommend this company or just stay clear of Joanne.

James Sabalos has been my personal attorney for 8 year for a very complex case in federal courts. His expert knowledge and experience has proved invaluable. In addition, I believe that Jim always represented my best interests and has been prudent with his expenses fees. I would highly recommend Jim to any party seeking an effective and professional litigator that will successfully handle your litigation needs.

James Sabalos has been my attorney and company attorney for many years providing advice and substantial commercial litigation support in a very complex case. His work has been superb. He is an outstanding trial attorney and has kept our company promptly informed and his advice has always been sound and on target. His fees are reasonable in light of his many years of commercial litigation experience. I would recommend him to any company that was engaged in complex multiparty litigation.

I made the terrible mistake of using this clown. I filed a complaint with the state bar. He did everything possible to botch up my case until I fired him. When I reviewed what he had done with my new attorney, I became aware Sabalos did an even worse job than I thought.

Fran Fine is to say the least is not a woman Of her word. She agreee to take on my case at a discounted rate but failed to mention that bc of that discount she was going to half ass my case and her responsibilities to put it nicely. She was late to my first court date didn’t even make it to my second one. She failed me bigtime by not filling for a default judgement after my ex didn’t respond within 20 days. She never answered half my question and she is extremely disrespectful on how she speaks to her clients.

We contacted 6 Las Vegas area attorneys before getting a referral to Sagebrush. All others stated that they had no idea how to handle the case, but asked for a hefty retainer nonetheless. Christopher Carson, with his expertise in construction law, was the only person who asked to see the damage to the house in person. Chris and Trent have been open and forthcoming from their fee structure to proofreading I generated. We have gone as far as we could on our own, and now will contact Sagebrush for representation taking the matter in Federal court. Sagebrush is honest, which is the highest complete I can offer

Please take caution! I hired Trent as a court room lawyer! My amazing attorney was moving and I ended up with NIGHTMARE TRENT! He lied from the beginning and didn't even copy a paper of mine!! This evil man did everything I didn't ask and included 2 cases in a one and only chance to settle. He gave himself more than 1/3 after a blackmail deal after excluding me from my own mediation. Evil Trent told me he doesn't get paid to keep my job and doesn't get paid to get me benefits, "I can pay them out of my own pocket"! I hired a lawyer for peace of mind! I was in the fetal position for over a week! I refused the deal because its not what I wanted! HE QUIT! I never spent more than 3 hours talking to him that included a rushed here's the paperwork. I had zero representation and was not brought back to work and Trent didn't pick up the phone! Trent made me want to die!! I was left at home with a lawyer who ruined my only mediation and my job if 24 years. He did though attach a suit that if I received anything he was entitled to it! Trent QUIT WITH NO IF!!! HE JUST QUIT !!Trent threatened my previous attorneywho was leaving town, who tried to help me fix the damage! He threatened him with legal actions! I was aloud only the original paperwork that he didn't even write up , the other party wrote it!! His name was on it. He only represented me in 2 cases but blacked mailed his way into 4 cases settled. Two he only represented me in. I was forced to take him to the STATE BAR which was aware of what he was doing. I had to sign because I was alone with no job! He was forced to meet with me and this evil scammer would not give a CENT BACK FROM HIS SCAM. He was hired strictly for court. I got the mediation because this needed to be settle because my case was a preventable awful situation. I would to God I would have represented myself...He wouldn't give one cent back!! SAGEBRUSH HAS NO MORAL VALUES!! Please don't hire them in anyway!!! Trent was beyond a COLD NIGHTMARE.... !!!! HE GIVES A NEW MEANING TO THE WORD BOTTOM FEEDER !!! 100 percent true and any questions I would love to tell you more!! Although I only knew him for a few hours!!!

This guy was rude. Asked him about a situation I had and if he can help. He was unprofessional. Told me he doesn't take cases like mine. Once I went over again the specifics he goes, not interested. Its not what you say sometimes it's how you say it and I would not recommend these guys, purely low grade stuff.

I would not suggest this lawyer to anyone. This lawyer was hired to represent me and my sibling in a personal injury case where my mother passed away as a result of a automobile accident. It has been almost a year and a half since the accident and the law firm has yet to settle the case. The insurance companies agreed to pay out to my mother without litigation, however a year and four months later the law firm has yet to take the necessary actions to resolve the case. What I find most disrespectful is that the office refused to take calls or return calls. I must note, it is not like we are constantly calling the office for information. I would say that Brenda is the worst case manager ever. I would also say that the office was not 100% honest with us. They claim that they did not represent an estate. Yet, they had to file an order to set aside the administration of my mothers estate to disburse the funds received from one of the insurance companies. When they filed the documents in probate court, they failed to include all the required documents so the case was taken off calendar and rescheduled for another date. We have called several times to obtain the documents required for signature and they refuse to take our calls. I also find that they should have informed us from the beginning that probate would be necessary but they did not because they found a way to make a easy 33.3% from the settlement when I believe that they should have referred us to probate in the first place. Don't waste your time with this lawyer especially if the person has passed away. You will still need to go through probate because the insurance company is going to pay whatever settlement you are entitled to, to the estate.

Based on all available evidence Ms. Armenta's sole reason for existence is to abuse the justice court system for the benefit of junk debt buyers. She files hundreds of lawsuits a month maliciously targeting the most vulnerable debtors. To be fair she delivers for her clients, it's just too bad she has no soul.

I was referred to the Resident Services department at Karsaz & Associates by my community manager after having received several unverified noise complaints. I was hoping the actual complaints would help me identify any activity associated with the noise. I first contacted "resident services" on September 13th, and followed up sending email asking for a status. Today is September 29th...the only thing I have received is another noise complaint.

What a Litigation Lawyer Can Do for You

A litigation lawyer specializes in representing individuals, businesses, or organizations involved in legal disputes. Whether you're the one filing a lawsuit or you're being sued, a litigation attorney will advocate on your behalf throughout the entire legal process. Their goal is to resolve disputes, either through negotiation, settlement, or trial. Litigation lawyers can help with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, real estate issues, employment disputes, personal injury claims, and more.

Litigation lawyers provide strategic legal advice and manage all aspects of your case, from filing motions to representing you in court, ensuring that your rights are protected and that you have the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Litigation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a litigation lawyer if you're involved in a legal dispute that you cannot resolve on your own. Common situations include:

  • Breach of contract disputes: If a party to a contract fails to fulfill their obligations, a litigation lawyer can help you seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Litigation lawyers can represent you in cases of partnership disagreements, intellectual property disputes, or business fraud.
  • Employment disputes: If you're facing issues like wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, or wage disputes, a litigation lawyer can help resolve these matters through negotiation or court action.
  • Personal injury claims: If you've been injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a litigation attorney can help you pursue your case.
  • Real estate or property disputes: When there are conflicts over property ownership, boundary issues, or lease agreements, a litigation lawyer can assist in resolving the dispute.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is beneficial, especially if a lawsuit seems imminent or you have already been served with legal documents.

What Does a Litigation Lawyer Do?

A litigation lawyer handles all aspects of your case, from the initial investigation to the trial and even the appeals process, if necessary. Their role includes:

  • Case assessment and investigation: Analyzing the facts of your case and advising whether it’s worth pursuing or defending.
  • Pleadings and motions: Drafting and filing documents to initiate or respond to a lawsuit, including complaints, motions to dismiss, and answers.
  • Discovery: Gathering evidence, including depositions, interrogatories, and document requests, to build your case.
  • Negotiations and settlement discussions: Attempting to resolve disputes through mediation, arbitration, or settlement talks before going to trial.
  • Trial representation: Presenting your case in court, examining witnesses, introducing evidence, and making legal arguments before a judge or jury.
  • Appeals: If necessary, filing appeals to challenge or defend the outcome of the trial.

Litigation lawyers are also skilled negotiators and often work to resolve disputes outside of court to save time, money, and stress for their clients.

How Are Litigation Lawyers Paid?

Litigation lawyers typically use a variety of fee structures depending on the type of case, the complexity of the legal matter, and the financial circumstances of the client. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Many litigation attorneys charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and geographic location.
  • Flat fees: For specific, predictable legal tasks (such as filing a motion), lawyers may offer a flat fee.
  • Contingency fees: In personal injury or other cases where you seek damages, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, taking a percentage of the settlement or award if you win.
  • Retainer: Some clients pay a retainer fee upfront to secure ongoing legal services. The lawyer then bills against this retainer as work is done.

The exact structure should be discussed in the initial consultation to ensure you understand how and when you'll be charged.

How Much Does a Litigation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of a litigation lawyer varies significantly depending on the nature of the dispute and the lawyer’s experience. Factors affecting the cost include:

  • The complexity of the case: More complex litigation involving extensive discovery, expert witnesses, or multi-party suits typically costs more.
  • Time spent: Litigation cases can be time-consuming, especially if they go to trial. The longer the case, the higher the legal fees.
  • Type of fee arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $200 to over $1,000 per hour, depending on the lawyer’s reputation and location. Contingency fees generally range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award.
  • Stage of litigation: Cases that settle early in the process are often less expensive than those that proceed to trial or appeal.

It’s crucial to ask about cost estimates during your initial consultation to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Litigation Lawyer

Before hiring a litigation lawyer, it's essential to ask key questions to ensure you're choosing the right representation:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Ensure that the lawyer has experience handling your specific type of dispute, whether it's a contract issue, personal injury, or business matter.
  2. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case's strengths, weaknesses, and the likelihood of success.
  3. What is your fee structure?
Clarify how you'll be charged, whether by the hour, a flat fee, or on a contingency basis.
  4. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it's hard to predict, an experienced lawyer can give you a rough estimate based on similar cases.
  5. How often do you settle cases versus going to trial?
Some lawyers are more inclined to settle, while others may be more experienced in the courtroom. It’s important to understand their strategy.
  6. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Some lawyers prefer aggressive litigation, while others focus on settlement or mediation. Choose one whose approach aligns with your goals.

How to Check the Credibility of a Litigation Lawyer

To verify a litigation lawyer’s credibility, consider the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Ensure the lawyer is in good standing with the state bar and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and track record.
  • Look for litigation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they have handled cases like yours and have a record of success.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer to provide references from past clients who can speak to their effectiveness and approach.
  • Research their trial experience: If your case is likely to go to trial, ensure the lawyer has a history of courtroom success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make your first consultation with a litigation lawyer productive, you should prepare the following:

  • A clear outline of the dispute: Provide a timeline and key details about the legal issue you're facing.
  • Any relevant documents: Bring contracts, emails, letters, or any other documentation that pertains to the case.
  • A list of key players: Provide the names of individuals or companies involved in the dispute.
  • Questions about fees and the litigation process: Make sure you understand how the lawyer plans to approach your case and how you will be charged.
  • Your goals and expectations: Be clear about what outcome you're hoping for, whether it's a settlement, compensation, or another resolution.

By coming prepared, you can ensure that your initial meeting with the lawyer is both efficient and insightful, giving you a better sense of how to proceed with your case.
