Called and did most over the phone with John Frazier. He understood the unusual circumstances of having limited ability to come into the office as I care for my disabled son. He took my minor sons misdemeanor careless driving case. He sent all forms to retain via email. Things got done quickly. He kept me informed of all dealings with the court or prosecutors at all times. We conversed mainly via email and he was very confident for the outcome of my case each step of the way. When I worried or waiverd he was professional in the manner in which to ease my concerns. I gave my complete trust and faith in him and he prevailed. I strongly recommend this firm and its team. Best part he was less than a “friend” was going to charge. Glad I made the call. Thank You John Frazier you will be my to go guy from here in our should I need a lawyer.

Mr. Fraser represented me in a child custody case in Ingram county. I had not previously been represented in family court and the results were devastating. My sons father was granted full physical custody and I was only allowed weekend and holiday visits. For eight years this went on. I had told everybody about the situation at my son’s father‘s house and how bad it was a nobody would listen, except for Mr. Fraser. They’re finally came a time when evidence of alcohol abuse and domestic violence from an outside source became available. And Mr. Fraser utilized that evidence to change my family’s life! After eight years of fighting, tears, lost time, and trying to tell my story, the truth was being told. We took this evidence to friend of the Court in Ingham County and Mr. Fraser was effective in presenting the evidence in a manner in which the judge was able to make a decision that was very positive for me, my son and our family. I have recommended Mr. Fraser to many of my coworkers and friends struggling to navigate family court and FOC. I consider Mr. Fraser a part of our extended family and we will forever be grateful.

I am a MMMP card holder with medical marijuana patient status and am licensed to grow my own medicinal marijuana plants at home. Thinking I was doing everything according to the rules, didn't prevent law enforcement from coming to the house to pay a visit. And in the process found things that they we're going to challenge....... period. Long story short, I wound up with Felony Manufacturing charges. Which if prosecuted to the full extent of the law would bring 4 years in prison with it. I knew immediately that I would need good, rather great, representation. That's when I contacted attorney John Fraser at Grewal Law in Okemos, and asked him to come on board. And thank God I did. First of all, as far as anyone in the Greater Lansing area that is an expert on Michigan Medical Marijuana Law, it's attorney Fraser for sure. So if you have a case pertaining to anything drug related, I would highly recommend your contacting him. But his expertise travels well beyond that of drug related law. And the team he works with at Grewal are also people of integrity, with a diverse array of special qualifications for really any legal need. My case looked as though it would be bound over to the circuit Court. But when he was able to present a few of our arguments to the prosecutor, she was faced with the reality that her case wasn't worth pursuing. And yes, without ever needing to even be present for my preliminary exam, the decision was made to throw out my case entirely! Judge signed the papers the following morning. And now all of this is behind me now...... for good. And for that I sincerely thank and commend Mr. Fraser.

Brian is a lawyer like no other. I have been dragged through family law courts in multiple states and it took Brian (after 5 other lawyers failed) to help remedy my interstate child custody case. He's brilliant, no doubt. But he will also allow input from his clients. And despite my insistence at times, he always choose and counseled on the moral high ground. The law firm is damn expensive, but Brian is a thoroughbred (although he still retains his barking-like tone, perhaps because he is a former cop.) Seriously, though, this man could teach other lawyers and judges a thing or two about how the system SHOULD work. And odd as it may sound, his motions and responses were artful as well as efficiently written. He does have one Achille's heel- he's a Notre Dame fb fan.

Mr. Morley stepped in at the end of a nearly 4 year long mediation with the Award in my favor. My first attorney did a great job, too, but, ultimately, I felt that the case needed fresh eyes due to circumstances beyond anyone's control. We lost our mediator in the 12th hour. My interpretation of what had been written was different than that of my first atty. I interviewed Mr. Morley and he interpreted the verbiage as I did. Therefore, Mr. Morley argued those points on my behalf and finally got the Award entered. Mr. Morley keeps in close contact with client's like no other attorney I've worked with and doesn't nickle and dime the client to death. I appreciated this as well. Thanks again, Brian.

Used Cullen Harkness for setting up DPOA and trust. Couldn't be any easier, he fully explained the process from start to finish and was able to answer all my questions appropriately. Scheduling was quite easy and is flexible. Whole process took less than a month, and that was with my busy schedule.

I hired Mick and his office after I was way in over my head with my mortgage. I came to Mick desperate to save my family home. He reassured me that he would do everything in his power to get the best result for me and save my home. I worked with Mick and Jessica for about a year, they were quick to answer my calls, emails, etc. It has been about a year now, but I can happily say Mick and his staff SAVED my home, they not only saved me $300,000.00 on my principle alone but cut my payments in half. I would never refer a friend or family member to anybody but Mick. They can be trusted, fair fees and excellent results, what more can you ask for?

The Best criminal defense team you can hire. Without going into too much detail a Not Guilty Verdict saved our lives!! Mary Chartier is a fantastic Lawyer and really is impressive during trial. She will not back down from prosecutors,judges,etc.. Killer cross exams and attention to detail is just part of what makes Mary the best criminal/trial lawyer. Mary is super personable, realistic, straightforward, and a fantastic person. One of the hardest working and committed persons that I have ever met. She has the unique ability to be such an easy going fun person. However, when the time comes to be tough and fight for her clients no one can fight harder or be tougher than what I witnessed from her in court. We also had the pleasure of working with Amy Ronayne Krause at C&N. Amy is so sweet and caring you might forget how amazing and qualified she is as a former prosecutor and judge. Amy is a wealth of knowledge and experience with the compassion like I have never seen before. I am so glad Amy joined the team and really helped Mary with out with our defense. Another main player in helping our case was Kurt Krause. Kurt like Amy and Mary is a brilliant Attorney. We spent a lot of time with Kurt at many Pretrials, Motions, and a preliminary hearing. He excelled at all. Kurt was able to give us great life advice along with the best legal advice during the long wait that the criminal justice system . He managed to reduce the bond and work hard to make sure we were informed and up to speed with everything we needed to know. I also need to say the rest of the staff we worked with are fantastic too. Chartier & Nyamfukudza, P.L.C. has my praise on all aspects of the Law from the beginning to most importantly The "NOT GUILTY" at trial. The jury needed only a few minutes to reach the NOT GUILTY conclusion as this team of lawyers is the absolute best in my opinion. If you have been falsely accused of a crime and need the best representation possible, Chartier & Nyamfukudza, P.L.C. will help you out like no other .

My mom passed away September of 2020. My uncle hired this lawfirm in February of 2021 to settle her estate. She had a will. It took this lawfirm until February of 2024 to finish up and pay out the the recipients, only to have the two checks ( for over 50 thousand dollars) bounce. They had my uncle sign the checks November 30th and then waited for 10 weeks to send them out.So they were to old to be honored. Now I'm wondering how many years am I going to have to wait for them to have my uncle come in and reissue those two checks. We shall see.

What a Litigation Lawyer Can Do for You

A litigation lawyer specializes in representing individuals, businesses, or organizations involved in legal disputes. Whether you're the one filing a lawsuit or you're being sued, a litigation attorney will advocate on your behalf throughout the entire legal process. Their goal is to resolve disputes, either through negotiation, settlement, or trial. Litigation lawyers can help with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, real estate issues, employment disputes, personal injury claims, and more.

Litigation lawyers provide strategic legal advice and manage all aspects of your case, from filing motions to representing you in court, ensuring that your rights are protected and that you have the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Litigation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a litigation lawyer if you're involved in a legal dispute that you cannot resolve on your own. Common situations include:

  • Breach of contract disputes: If a party to a contract fails to fulfill their obligations, a litigation lawyer can help you seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Litigation lawyers can represent you in cases of partnership disagreements, intellectual property disputes, or business fraud.
  • Employment disputes: If you're facing issues like wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, or wage disputes, a litigation lawyer can help resolve these matters through negotiation or court action.
  • Personal injury claims: If you've been injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a litigation attorney can help you pursue your case.
  • Real estate or property disputes: When there are conflicts over property ownership, boundary issues, or lease agreements, a litigation lawyer can assist in resolving the dispute.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is beneficial, especially if a lawsuit seems imminent or you have already been served with legal documents.

What Does a Litigation Lawyer Do?

A litigation lawyer handles all aspects of your case, from the initial investigation to the trial and even the appeals process, if necessary. Their role includes:

  • Case assessment and investigation: Analyzing the facts of your case and advising whether it’s worth pursuing or defending.
  • Pleadings and motions: Drafting and filing documents to initiate or respond to a lawsuit, including complaints, motions to dismiss, and answers.
  • Discovery: Gathering evidence, including depositions, interrogatories, and document requests, to build your case.
  • Negotiations and settlement discussions: Attempting to resolve disputes through mediation, arbitration, or settlement talks before going to trial.
  • Trial representation: Presenting your case in court, examining witnesses, introducing evidence, and making legal arguments before a judge or jury.
  • Appeals: If necessary, filing appeals to challenge or defend the outcome of the trial.

Litigation lawyers are also skilled negotiators and often work to resolve disputes outside of court to save time, money, and stress for their clients.

How Are Litigation Lawyers Paid?

Litigation lawyers typically use a variety of fee structures depending on the type of case, the complexity of the legal matter, and the financial circumstances of the client. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Many litigation attorneys charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and geographic location.
  • Flat fees: For specific, predictable legal tasks (such as filing a motion), lawyers may offer a flat fee.
  • Contingency fees: In personal injury or other cases where you seek damages, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, taking a percentage of the settlement or award if you win.
  • Retainer: Some clients pay a retainer fee upfront to secure ongoing legal services. The lawyer then bills against this retainer as work is done.

The exact structure should be discussed in the initial consultation to ensure you understand how and when you'll be charged.

How Much Does a Litigation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of a litigation lawyer varies significantly depending on the nature of the dispute and the lawyer’s experience. Factors affecting the cost include:

  • The complexity of the case: More complex litigation involving extensive discovery, expert witnesses, or multi-party suits typically costs more.
  • Time spent: Litigation cases can be time-consuming, especially if they go to trial. The longer the case, the higher the legal fees.
  • Type of fee arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $200 to over $1,000 per hour, depending on the lawyer’s reputation and location. Contingency fees generally range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award.
  • Stage of litigation: Cases that settle early in the process are often less expensive than those that proceed to trial or appeal.

It’s crucial to ask about cost estimates during your initial consultation to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Litigation Lawyer

Before hiring a litigation lawyer, it's essential to ask key questions to ensure you're choosing the right representation:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Ensure that the lawyer has experience handling your specific type of dispute, whether it's a contract issue, personal injury, or business matter.
  2. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case's strengths, weaknesses, and the likelihood of success.
  3. What is your fee structure?
Clarify how you'll be charged, whether by the hour, a flat fee, or on a contingency basis.
  4. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it's hard to predict, an experienced lawyer can give you a rough estimate based on similar cases.
  5. How often do you settle cases versus going to trial?
Some lawyers are more inclined to settle, while others may be more experienced in the courtroom. It’s important to understand their strategy.
  6. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Some lawyers prefer aggressive litigation, while others focus on settlement or mediation. Choose one whose approach aligns with your goals.

How to Check the Credibility of a Litigation Lawyer

To verify a litigation lawyer’s credibility, consider the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Ensure the lawyer is in good standing with the state bar and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and track record.
  • Look for litigation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they have handled cases like yours and have a record of success.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer to provide references from past clients who can speak to their effectiveness and approach.
  • Research their trial experience: If your case is likely to go to trial, ensure the lawyer has a history of courtroom success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make your first consultation with a litigation lawyer productive, you should prepare the following:

  • A clear outline of the dispute: Provide a timeline and key details about the legal issue you're facing.
  • Any relevant documents: Bring contracts, emails, letters, or any other documentation that pertains to the case.
  • A list of key players: Provide the names of individuals or companies involved in the dispute.
  • Questions about fees and the litigation process: Make sure you understand how the lawyer plans to approach your case and how you will be charged.
  • Your goals and expectations: Be clear about what outcome you're hoping for, whether it's a settlement, compensation, or another resolution.

By coming prepared, you can ensure that your initial meeting with the lawyer is both efficient and insightful, giving you a better sense of how to proceed with your case.
