In my opinion: He is one of the worst attorneys I have ever encountered. Instead of resolving issues, he seems to create new ones between parties for his financial gain. If you prefer your cases to drag on indefinitely, this may be the attorney for you. I have documented and verifiable instances ofhim providing false attorney affirmations, and this is not defamatory as I have the evidence to support my claims. I strongly recommend avoiding this attorney at all costs!!!

Mr Welch came highly recommended to me. I contacted Mr Welch to get a second opinion on my divorce and child custody case. My first impression was he was well educated, I could tell he had been doing these types of cases for awhile. He was very kind and honest. I knew right away this is who I wanted to represent me. We won! He worked hard and didn't give up, got me exactly what I wanted and deserved. I'm so thankful for him. I'd highly recommend Warren Welch.

I was lost, confused and being taken advantage of during my divorce procedure. I am a person that does not see malice in anyone so I trusted my wife as she hired a lawyer of her choice, who I also knew, to help us complete our divorce in a nice fashion. Unfortunately point blank I was served the papers and came to a realization that I was being taken advantage of. I did not care about material things, up front I had let my wife have more that she was entitled to. The trust I had placed in her and her lawyer suddenly came to an end. I consulted a few lawyer but I could not convince myself on hiring any of them. As I was about to give in the dishonest requests made by my wife’s lawyer I ran into Mr. Warren Welch ad on a Google’s page. I called his office, made an appointment and met in person with him. Right off the bath I liked him a lot. I felt so comfortable to pay him the retainer and have him guide me through the whole process. Mr. Welch was very nice and always answered all my questions. I was hurt by the loss of trust I had experienced after 34 years of marriage. Mr. Welch has so much experience and everything he had outlined for my case went exactly as he said or better. I highly recommend anyone “have a lawyer represent your case”, a divorce can truly change your life. Either you place emphasis on material things or seek relief from how you may be treated by a spouse whom you once loved, had kids with and, achieved common goals, Mr. Welch is the right lawyer that will fight for your rights and get back your dignity. I was blessed I found him.

Avoid using Jon Bonavilla for your divorce attorney. Jon did not provide me with proper representation, overall Jon’s communication was not helpful and left me confused, and Jon provided limited legal advice. After a couple of months, I sought out a new attorney.

I worked with Michael for my house closing. Not only was Michael professional throughout this process but he kept me informed every step of the way. The closing went smoothly and was completed in an organized and timely fashion. I would not only recommend him as my attorney of choice I would also recommend Lacy Katzen as my preferred law firm for any legal matter.

Lisa closed on three property deals for my in-laws. After we had a major problem from another attorney we asked Lisa to help us. I don't believe she ever even looked at our contract because it should have been voided by multiple clauses. She avoided directly answering any of my questions. Because of her incompetence she recommend we sign over our $2000 down payment to the seller, which we did. There was no reason for this because the home was relisted and resold but she had no clue. I had to inform her of these events. How could we even be under contract for a house like that? Nothing made any sense. I never paid her a dime and her office refused to provide me with a bill or list of services performed.

Steve was by far the best attorney I've had (and I've had many at this point) with my family law issues. He went above and beyond for me! He handled everything himself, and I wasn't always speaking to a paralegal. His paperwork was phenomenal, and the judge threw the case out in less than ten minutes. I wish he was able to handle everything for me. I think about him often, and the impact he had on my family. Best most caring attorney hands down.

UPDATE- I received a call from the elder Handelman, He said he will look into my case and call me back. Still waiting for that call. Then the younger Handelman called me, apparently not knowing the other one called. He said my case was transferred to another lawyer, could/would not tell me why. Then he told me to take my review down, since it was untrue. When I told him that it was still indeed true, since I never received a letter stating they transferred the case, so in my eyes they are still the lawyers handling the case. (By the way, I called the so called new lawyer, and he has no clue what I am talking about. He said he will look into it and call me back. Again still waiting).I said so "instead of 5 and a half years, you had the case for 4 years with no resolution and that is still unacceptable. And for them not to let me know that they handed off the case to another firm, that was very unprofessional. He kept insisting I removed the review, and when I said I would not, he hung up on me. So, if you want them to return your calls for any reason, please leave them a negative review and they will call you right away. What a joke. They have been handling my dads estate for 5 and a half years, and I still dont know what is going on. They won't give you a straight answer, there is no correspondence. They are a terrible.

Couldn’t have been happier with the outcome of multiple cases that Eric was appointed as my son’s law guardian. From 2016-2023 Eric communicated, kept my son informed and asked my son multiple times before during and after cases the hard questions to make sure he was fighting for what was best for my son. If you need an outstanding lawyer for your family, Eric is hands down highly recommend! I was blessed to have him assigned to our case!

This woman was court appointed and now I am having her removed for NUMEROUS reasons. Had primary residency taken from me under false pretenses. Also is ignoring major health issues concerning my child along with many more issues that if appointed again will be brought up in court and asked to be permanently removed for the sake of my child. Be careful who you have represent you or your child. Also do background checks on not just her but anyone you may feel is off. I've learned my lesson I just don't want it to happen to anyone else.

We had a business issue that we needed to hire a law firm for. I had reached out to the Glennon law firm, was told that they require a retainer to give a consultation. However, Peter was nice enough to give us a call to have a quick conversation. He hyped himself up And let us to believe that we hada great possibility of winning our case. To continue to look further into all of our documents and paperwork Peter said that we would have to send a $5000 retainer for a more in depth consultation. So we did that. at that point, Peter did a switcheroo if you will, and had another attorney, give us a call. The reason we had given the retainer was based on our original conversation with Peter and we’re hoping to work with Peter. After our conversation with this other lawyer, we had decided to not use this law firm. Third week of October I sent an email to, Peter secretary, telling her that we were going to move in a different direction they sent us a letter confirming that we were not going to be using their law firm anymore and it was signed by Peter. I requested about the refund of whatever monies were left from our retainer for the consultation and was told that it was being sent out this was November 1. It is now the 21st of November and we’re being told that they’re sent out once a month and they’ll follow up with us when it’s being sent out. So if you want to get the runaround and you want to get your money held, then this is the law firm for you, if not stay away from them.

I expected Chris to speak for me when i could not. He failed at this. He was very slow to act, in fact he had to file for an extention to bring the suit as he drug his feet for literally 3 plus years. Had I not been so incapacitated I would have been more on top of him, but this is why i needed him, I was not at my best. He seemed very tenatious at the inception of our lawyer client relationship but that wained. He did very little with me to prepare for the trial and did not tell me about the defendants witnesses that were to be called until the day before the trial. He kept me in the dark. His performance in court can only be as good as his preparation, and that is where he failed. He did not have all the facts. I would not recommend him!

What a Litigation Lawyer Can Do for You

A litigation lawyer specializes in representing individuals, businesses, or organizations involved in legal disputes. Whether you're the one filing a lawsuit or you're being sued, a litigation attorney will advocate on your behalf throughout the entire legal process. Their goal is to resolve disputes, either through negotiation, settlement, or trial. Litigation lawyers can help with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, real estate issues, employment disputes, personal injury claims, and more.

Litigation lawyers provide strategic legal advice and manage all aspects of your case, from filing motions to representing you in court, ensuring that your rights are protected and that you have the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Litigation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a litigation lawyer if you're involved in a legal dispute that you cannot resolve on your own. Common situations include:

  • Breach of contract disputes: If a party to a contract fails to fulfill their obligations, a litigation lawyer can help you seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Litigation lawyers can represent you in cases of partnership disagreements, intellectual property disputes, or business fraud.
  • Employment disputes: If you're facing issues like wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, or wage disputes, a litigation lawyer can help resolve these matters through negotiation or court action.
  • Personal injury claims: If you've been injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a litigation attorney can help you pursue your case.
  • Real estate or property disputes: When there are conflicts over property ownership, boundary issues, or lease agreements, a litigation lawyer can assist in resolving the dispute.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is beneficial, especially if a lawsuit seems imminent or you have already been served with legal documents.

What Does a Litigation Lawyer Do?

A litigation lawyer handles all aspects of your case, from the initial investigation to the trial and even the appeals process, if necessary. Their role includes:

  • Case assessment and investigation: Analyzing the facts of your case and advising whether it’s worth pursuing or defending.
  • Pleadings and motions: Drafting and filing documents to initiate or respond to a lawsuit, including complaints, motions to dismiss, and answers.
  • Discovery: Gathering evidence, including depositions, interrogatories, and document requests, to build your case.
  • Negotiations and settlement discussions: Attempting to resolve disputes through mediation, arbitration, or settlement talks before going to trial.
  • Trial representation: Presenting your case in court, examining witnesses, introducing evidence, and making legal arguments before a judge or jury.
  • Appeals: If necessary, filing appeals to challenge or defend the outcome of the trial.

Litigation lawyers are also skilled negotiators and often work to resolve disputes outside of court to save time, money, and stress for their clients.

How Are Litigation Lawyers Paid?

Litigation lawyers typically use a variety of fee structures depending on the type of case, the complexity of the legal matter, and the financial circumstances of the client. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Many litigation attorneys charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and geographic location.
  • Flat fees: For specific, predictable legal tasks (such as filing a motion), lawyers may offer a flat fee.
  • Contingency fees: In personal injury or other cases where you seek damages, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, taking a percentage of the settlement or award if you win.
  • Retainer: Some clients pay a retainer fee upfront to secure ongoing legal services. The lawyer then bills against this retainer as work is done.

The exact structure should be discussed in the initial consultation to ensure you understand how and when you'll be charged.

How Much Does a Litigation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of a litigation lawyer varies significantly depending on the nature of the dispute and the lawyer’s experience. Factors affecting the cost include:

  • The complexity of the case: More complex litigation involving extensive discovery, expert witnesses, or multi-party suits typically costs more.
  • Time spent: Litigation cases can be time-consuming, especially if they go to trial. The longer the case, the higher the legal fees.
  • Type of fee arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $200 to over $1,000 per hour, depending on the lawyer’s reputation and location. Contingency fees generally range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award.
  • Stage of litigation: Cases that settle early in the process are often less expensive than those that proceed to trial or appeal.

It’s crucial to ask about cost estimates during your initial consultation to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Litigation Lawyer

Before hiring a litigation lawyer, it's essential to ask key questions to ensure you're choosing the right representation:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Ensure that the lawyer has experience handling your specific type of dispute, whether it's a contract issue, personal injury, or business matter.
  2. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case's strengths, weaknesses, and the likelihood of success.
  3. What is your fee structure?
Clarify how you'll be charged, whether by the hour, a flat fee, or on a contingency basis.
  4. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it's hard to predict, an experienced lawyer can give you a rough estimate based on similar cases.
  5. How often do you settle cases versus going to trial?
Some lawyers are more inclined to settle, while others may be more experienced in the courtroom. It’s important to understand their strategy.
  6. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Some lawyers prefer aggressive litigation, while others focus on settlement or mediation. Choose one whose approach aligns with your goals.

How to Check the Credibility of a Litigation Lawyer

To verify a litigation lawyer’s credibility, consider the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Ensure the lawyer is in good standing with the state bar and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and track record.
  • Look for litigation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they have handled cases like yours and have a record of success.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer to provide references from past clients who can speak to their effectiveness and approach.
  • Research their trial experience: If your case is likely to go to trial, ensure the lawyer has a history of courtroom success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make your first consultation with a litigation lawyer productive, you should prepare the following:

  • A clear outline of the dispute: Provide a timeline and key details about the legal issue you're facing.
  • Any relevant documents: Bring contracts, emails, letters, or any other documentation that pertains to the case.
  • A list of key players: Provide the names of individuals or companies involved in the dispute.
  • Questions about fees and the litigation process: Make sure you understand how the lawyer plans to approach your case and how you will be charged.
  • Your goals and expectations: Be clear about what outcome you're hoping for, whether it's a settlement, compensation, or another resolution.

By coming prepared, you can ensure that your initial meeting with the lawyer is both efficient and insightful, giving you a better sense of how to proceed with your case.
