2 weeks ago I got pulled over for a minor infraction just to find out I had a warrant for my arrest in Trumbull County from 6 yrs ago. It was Friday night and everything was closed! I couldn't for the life of me figure out where these charges stemmed from. The next day, after a night gripped with fear, I decided I'd better at least try calling some law offices and maybe God would lead me to the right one and someone would answer or call me back. The 1st message I left was with Ron Yarwood and he ended up being the only attorney to call me back the very next day on Sunday! I couldn't believe it. I didn't retain him that day because I thought these charges were going to be a mistake and I was trying to save money, but he heard me out and didn't cut me off. The next day I called the magistrates office and the Police Depart, and found out I was facing a Felony. I was sick to my stomach, sitting at work suffering in silence and fighting back tears. I asked for a personal day and went home to search for attorney that I could afford because I didn't have that much money and I was still holding out hope this would just get dismissed. It had been almost 6 years and no crime was actually committed, it was just an attempt to commit an offense. I called tons of attorneys, and if your reading this you'll know what I'm talking about when I say they only cared about the money, not about me. Long story short, I found an attorney(not Yarwood) and things went downhill, fast. He wouldn't listen to me or do any research on the facts I was giving him. He was dismissive of me. At this point, I new I was in trouble and I knew it was time to search for another attorney. It's 8am Monday(3 days ago) on my way to work, leaving msgs yet again. Once again only Yarwood called me back! I told him my charges and what has been happening this far and I had a hearing scheduled this Thursday. He said let's meet today so I took off work(again) and drove to his office. Ron came right down to meet me and led me to the conference room. At this point, I was exhausted, not sleeping and not trusting anyone. Atty Yarwood didn't sugarcoat anything for me and got right to the point. He looked at all the facts and right away went in to what his defenses would be.(thats right, i said defenses, plural!) I tried not talk much because I wanted to hear what he had say and I didn't have time to waste. Immediately, he picked up on crucial details that I had been begging my attorney(at the time) to look at to no avail. Even though I had not hired Ron Yarwood yet, he didn't hold back one bit of what his defenses would be. Atty Yarwood said it is important that we become a team, which resonated with me because I never heard an attorney talk like that before and that we need to trust each other... And that he's not a hand holder lol(which I didn't need)...however, I needed someone who will fight. After an hour meeting, which he never looked at his watch 1 time and I never felt rushed, I knew he was the one. My feelings were that he was honest and became an attorney for all the right reasons, so I googled him immediately. Everything he told me was true. Yesterday morning(8/16) I ran him over a check at 730 am. We talked for another hour and I just expected him to take my money and I'd be on my way. Not Ron, he pulled out a white board and went over exactly how this process would go and went over every possibility of how this could play out. I left feeling great and confident he had my back and I really could trust him. Fast forward 24 hours later...I'm sitting in the courtroom at my preliminary hearing, sick..again. Ron pops in just let me know he's there and he'd come back in shortly. 30 to 45 minutes later he grabs my dad and I and tells us to follow him outside where he tells us the charges are going to be dismissed! What!! Ron came in prepared and ready to go all the way for me. I am so grateful to him and I couldn't wait to write this review! Thank you Ron!!! Call Ron Yarwood!!

Attorney Yarwood could not be recommended more highly. He represented me in a DUI case, and the amount that he was able to get the charges reduced was nothing more than a miracle. I knew from the beginning that he genuinely cared about me and the outcome of this case. He worked hard at every step, and made sure I always had all available information and understood all my options from beginning to end.

Ryan Ingram hands down is the best of the best! He got my OVI charge, driving under suspension, and probation violation down to almost nothing. He helped me through my darkest days. He is very intelligent and made me laugh/ smile when things got tough. I highly recommend if you get into trouble he’s worth every penny. I would tip him if I could. Thank you Ryan for all of your help.

I had a situation and wont get into details, but had some false criminal allegations that led to a case in the federal court. Basically I had some friends that werent friends and put me and my family in jeopardy. I was facing prison. Mr. Duffrin said "Dont worry, we got this." I felt comforted. We went through the process and the TRUTH came out. I am a free man today because of Mr. Duffrin and recommend him to anyone facing criminal allegations. He will get the job done right!!~

If you're looking for a top, respected attorney who understands the law, is a great strategist, can plan expertly but also think on his feet, one who communicates thoroughly and timely and is someone who cares for his clients and fosters their trust, Atty. Robert Duffrin is second to none. Rob has helped and represented me and my family on several occasions with optimal results and I highly recommend him! These cases included real estate research and documentation, establishment of an LLC, advice on small business and pursuit of a civil protection order by an unrelated adult towards a juvenile child.

Called Rob after a friend suggested him. I am skeptical by nature & that includes lawyers. A few lawyers I've work with in the past didn't listen & didn't seem to care much. Rob put me at ease, listened, asked questions & I could tell he had my best interest at heart. He was very patient with my ques & wasn't at all offended when I asked for further explanations. His work has saved me money, time & a ton of worry. He's a straight shooter & won't waste your time.

Scott has been my Attorney for many years. He has handled my legal matters, from the simple to the complex; and for each one, he always upheld the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. Scott is not perfect. He made mistakes and paid for them. He is NOT the man who made those mistakes. No. He is a much better man. He went through the fire and emerged, a better, more purified person. He was ALWAYS a Great Attorney. I don’t want someone who thinks they are BETTER than me... I want an Attorney who understands, EXACTLY, what I, and my family are enduring, and will see me safely through the storm. That, person, my friends, is Attorney Scott. Cochran

Navigating a divorce is a complex process, and finding the right attorney is crucial. Unfortunately, your experience with the attorney you hired did not meet your expectations. Despite seeking clarification and guidance, you were left feeling uninformed and unsupported. The attorney failed to sign essential paperwork and did not fulfill promises made at the end of your case, leaving you with unresolved issues and potential legal consequences. It is important to address these matters promptly by seeking a second opinion and documenting all communication. This experience highlights the importance of transparency and professionalism in legal services…. Please do not hire this attorney. It does not waste your headache or a waste of your money.

Stay away from Rauser & Associates! Waste of your time and definitely your money. Took my money then asked about my income. After all this the kept my return for almost a month. After keeping 25% of it for doing nothing. The only reason I am leaving a bad review is because I called another law firm, and the first thing they asked about was my income and told me I made too much. That they couldn't help me and wouldn't waste my time. So if you have any other options I would not use this company. I wouldn't have given them a star but I couldn't leave the review unless I gave them one.

Our child's Biological Father is literally a Crack Dealer, and a Police informant.… After she interviewed him; She actually told our attorney that He scares her.. His Police contacts apparently extend to the Court System; since he has gotten off on charges of Possession of Cocaine, which was later changed to counterfeit drug possession (saying it was fake stuff) , and has no drivers license, but never gets charged for that.. We didn't want any visitation, or at least minimum contact… The Magistrate was angered that the case was running on (we had another baby during the court proceedings) .. So Miss Weibling in an effort to please the Magistrate, and end things quickly, blind sides Us.. , recommending weekly all day visits; leaving us with no leverage whatsoever.. To put it bluntly she caters to the Court and her Career; definitely, without a doubt She puts her Career far and above the best interest of the child… Ask for another Guardian; she has completely and utterly failed our Son, and our Family ….

I would not recommend Mrs. Weibling. She was appointed in our custody case against a mother who has neglected my step-daughter not only medically but financially and emotionally. We have all the proof that was needed to prove that the mother was being unfit and neglectful yet the system is a failure especially with people like her behind the scenes. She has lied about things that were not true and pretty much did not do her job! Meanwhile all she cares to imply is her family when in meetings and is not searching for the best interest of the child. Request a new Guardian if you are appointed her

The attorney was very nice in person but when it came down to the facts of my custody case she flat out lied to me in court which had a major factor in the outcome. She really needs to get her facts straight and realize that she has a big part of the courts final determination. She didn't do her job and I should have requested a new Guardian AD Litem. If the court requests her do yourself a favor and request a new attorney. Thanks alot.

He was court appointed counsel for my minor misdemeanor criminal case and I had a video of 4 troopers who arrested me illegally, and Thompson said so at first. I was driving home to Stowe, Ohio from Youngstown where I'd driven to look at a car I wanted to buy. My girlfriend was with me when a trooper pulled me over or failing to switch lanes while he was behind a truck. I had no criminal record. I was arrested after I told the trooper I wasn't answering questions beyond those tied to his reason for the stop, and he said an American citizen who expressed knowledge of his rights made him suspicious. The charges were obstruction of official business and failure to obey a lawful order after he asked me to step out of the car so he could search me to see if I was carrying a weapon or committing any crimes. He denied that statement during the suppression hearing until it was played on his own dash cam video in court. My video showed all of the conversations between him, me and my girlfriend, and other troopers he'd called for backup. Even though he was instructed in writing to submit my video, my statement and my witness' statement as evidence, Thompson didn't and then lied about the reason he didn't. He then prepared a suppression motion filled with inaccuracies, and was emailed the corrections. He still turned in the error filled motion. When the motion was rejected, he called the judge a pro-cop racist. One motion he lied about, and never shared with me, was 9 inaccurate sentences and contained no case law. That motion was filed a month earlier, and one I never knew he had given the court. During the suppression hearing even the judge began counting the 8 times he asked the same question. I learned afterwards that in a murder trial where he was prosecutor, that Thompson didn't call witnesses that would have supported the victim. The Youngstown Vindicator headline described his behavior as "bizarre." When I obtained my case file, I learned that he had inserted a witness request for a trial in it that identified a witness for another client. If you ever do business with him, which would be a mistake, do like I did and keep all your email communications with him. He's extremely non-responsive so you need the email as back up that you reached out to him. Check your case file during the trial, instead of afterwards like I made the mistake of doing, because he'll submit motions without your knowledge or approval. I have email communications where he claimed he was given time to file an amended suppression motion. When I demanded a copy of it he told me his computer had been stolen. He then sent a 14 page document he claimed was that motion, but 9 pages of it was a woman's tax information. He sent a corrected motion that was one he filed a month earlier. The one he said he was going to file was never prepared, sent to me or approval or submitted to the court. THIS MAN SHOULD NOT BE AN ATTORNEY AND HE DEFINITELY SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED!

What a Litigation Lawyer Can Do for You

A litigation lawyer specializes in representing individuals, businesses, or organizations involved in legal disputes. Whether you're the one filing a lawsuit or you're being sued, a litigation attorney will advocate on your behalf throughout the entire legal process. Their goal is to resolve disputes, either through negotiation, settlement, or trial. Litigation lawyers can help with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, real estate issues, employment disputes, personal injury claims, and more.

Litigation lawyers provide strategic legal advice and manage all aspects of your case, from filing motions to representing you in court, ensuring that your rights are protected and that you have the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Litigation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a litigation lawyer if you're involved in a legal dispute that you cannot resolve on your own. Common situations include:

  • Breach of contract disputes: If a party to a contract fails to fulfill their obligations, a litigation lawyer can help you seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Litigation lawyers can represent you in cases of partnership disagreements, intellectual property disputes, or business fraud.
  • Employment disputes: If you're facing issues like wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, or wage disputes, a litigation lawyer can help resolve these matters through negotiation or court action.
  • Personal injury claims: If you've been injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a litigation attorney can help you pursue your case.
  • Real estate or property disputes: When there are conflicts over property ownership, boundary issues, or lease agreements, a litigation lawyer can assist in resolving the dispute.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is beneficial, especially if a lawsuit seems imminent or you have already been served with legal documents.

What Does a Litigation Lawyer Do?

A litigation lawyer handles all aspects of your case, from the initial investigation to the trial and even the appeals process, if necessary. Their role includes:

  • Case assessment and investigation: Analyzing the facts of your case and advising whether it’s worth pursuing or defending.
  • Pleadings and motions: Drafting and filing documents to initiate or respond to a lawsuit, including complaints, motions to dismiss, and answers.
  • Discovery: Gathering evidence, including depositions, interrogatories, and document requests, to build your case.
  • Negotiations and settlement discussions: Attempting to resolve disputes through mediation, arbitration, or settlement talks before going to trial.
  • Trial representation: Presenting your case in court, examining witnesses, introducing evidence, and making legal arguments before a judge or jury.
  • Appeals: If necessary, filing appeals to challenge or defend the outcome of the trial.

Litigation lawyers are also skilled negotiators and often work to resolve disputes outside of court to save time, money, and stress for their clients.

How Are Litigation Lawyers Paid?

Litigation lawyers typically use a variety of fee structures depending on the type of case, the complexity of the legal matter, and the financial circumstances of the client. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Many litigation attorneys charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and geographic location.
  • Flat fees: For specific, predictable legal tasks (such as filing a motion), lawyers may offer a flat fee.
  • Contingency fees: In personal injury or other cases where you seek damages, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, taking a percentage of the settlement or award if you win.
  • Retainer: Some clients pay a retainer fee upfront to secure ongoing legal services. The lawyer then bills against this retainer as work is done.

The exact structure should be discussed in the initial consultation to ensure you understand how and when you'll be charged.

How Much Does a Litigation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of a litigation lawyer varies significantly depending on the nature of the dispute and the lawyer’s experience. Factors affecting the cost include:

  • The complexity of the case: More complex litigation involving extensive discovery, expert witnesses, or multi-party suits typically costs more.
  • Time spent: Litigation cases can be time-consuming, especially if they go to trial. The longer the case, the higher the legal fees.
  • Type of fee arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $200 to over $1,000 per hour, depending on the lawyer’s reputation and location. Contingency fees generally range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award.
  • Stage of litigation: Cases that settle early in the process are often less expensive than those that proceed to trial or appeal.

It’s crucial to ask about cost estimates during your initial consultation to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Litigation Lawyer

Before hiring a litigation lawyer, it's essential to ask key questions to ensure you're choosing the right representation:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Ensure that the lawyer has experience handling your specific type of dispute, whether it's a contract issue, personal injury, or business matter.
  2. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case's strengths, weaknesses, and the likelihood of success.
  3. What is your fee structure?
Clarify how you'll be charged, whether by the hour, a flat fee, or on a contingency basis.
  4. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it's hard to predict, an experienced lawyer can give you a rough estimate based on similar cases.
  5. How often do you settle cases versus going to trial?
Some lawyers are more inclined to settle, while others may be more experienced in the courtroom. It’s important to understand their strategy.
  6. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Some lawyers prefer aggressive litigation, while others focus on settlement or mediation. Choose one whose approach aligns with your goals.

How to Check the Credibility of a Litigation Lawyer

To verify a litigation lawyer’s credibility, consider the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Ensure the lawyer is in good standing with the state bar and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and track record.
  • Look for litigation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they have handled cases like yours and have a record of success.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer to provide references from past clients who can speak to their effectiveness and approach.
  • Research their trial experience: If your case is likely to go to trial, ensure the lawyer has a history of courtroom success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make your first consultation with a litigation lawyer productive, you should prepare the following:

  • A clear outline of the dispute: Provide a timeline and key details about the legal issue you're facing.
  • Any relevant documents: Bring contracts, emails, letters, or any other documentation that pertains to the case.
  • A list of key players: Provide the names of individuals or companies involved in the dispute.
  • Questions about fees and the litigation process: Make sure you understand how the lawyer plans to approach your case and how you will be charged.
  • Your goals and expectations: Be clear about what outcome you're hoping for, whether it's a settlement, compensation, or another resolution.

By coming prepared, you can ensure that your initial meeting with the lawyer is both efficient and insightful, giving you a better sense of how to proceed with your case.
