I searched around and spoke to a few lawyers that didn’t want to take my simple divorce case. I continued searching, and then found the Shannon Family Law Firm. The reviews are not perfect, but overall there seemed to be more pleased clients who used them. So I decided to call and I won’t go into a lot of detail, but I have spoken with the paralegal Jodie Ward-House and attorney Richard Shannon whom I have decided to hire for my case. Jodie and Richard have been very kind and thorough in explaining the details of how my particular case should work if all goes well. My case is new and just starting. I may post another review in the future about this firm after my case is finished. However, based on the previous phone conversation I had with Jodie and phone consultation I had with Richard Shannon was very pleasing. We’ll see how this goes. I would recommend them if need consultation about a divorce case. I have a better understanding about my particular case.

Carolyn is an excellent lawyer! She was a steady guide during what was a very difficult divorce. When I had questions and concerns she took time to address them with me and made sure I fully understood each step of the process. She was reassuring, confident, and patient, which really helped me feel like I was in good hands. Most importantly she was willing to fight when necessary but also wise to counsel when compromise and mediation were the best avenue. When things were dragging on the opposing side, she kept them moving! And I felt the billing was clear and fair. I'd highly recommend Ms. Collins to anyone seeking a truly skilled and compassionate lawyer.

I initially chose JP Law Office for my divorce case based on their reputation and the promising start I experienced. Nicolette was approachable, proactive, and seemed genuinely committed to guiding me through this challenging time. In the beginning, I felt confident that I was in good hands. Their close attention to detail and prompt responses gave me hope that my case would be handled with the utmost professionalism.
However, as the case progressed, I began to notice a concerning shift. What started as a proactive and client-focused approach gradually turned into a frustrating experience. Communication became less frequent, and important aspects of my case seemed to be overlooked or delayed.Instead we were wasting hours in not so important details. It became increasingly clear that the level of care and diligence I initially received was no longer a priority. They were managing different cases but also mine and they had no incentives to spend the hours in the relevant and important details.
Unfortunately, this decline in service had significant consequences. Not only did it lead to unnecessary delays, but it also resulted in considerable financial strain and a disastrous sentence. I had expected a higher standard of service, especially considering the costs involved. Instead, I was left feeling that my resources were wasted, with little to show for the time and money invested.

I am a single mom that hired Sam Colletti to assist in filing an emergency petition for modification of my children's visitation schedule. I could not have asked for a better experience. I just became a US citizen and I do not think it would be possible without Jason. He helped me first with the resident card and removing all the conditions and then told me when I was ready to become a US citizen we could do that as well. I was involved in an auto accident that left me with no vehicle & in an ER. I've always trusted insurance companies to do the right thing, but the PIP wouldn't even scratch an ER bill. Then the next day, I found out the driver of the other car was not even the owner or on the insurance. A little scared & extremely disoriented from trauma, I knew I couldn't handle this without a professional. The adjusters were already asking questions that seemed condescending and leading me to believe they did NOT have my best interest in mind.
I called Feltoon & they took over on my behalf. WHAT A RELIEF!!! Within a few hours I had appointments for an MRI, neuro evaluation, & the adjusters were now answering the questions. Terrible Divorce Lawyer - Do Not Hire
I would not recommend this lawyer for your divorce. Not only is he incredibly unprofessional, but he also fails to deliver on basic legal responsibilities. He never filed any of the necessary documents for my divorce, and I was left completely in the dark throughout the process. This is either a very convincing internet scam, or John is a very poor lawyer. After paying his invoice I have essentially lost contact. I went to the littlefield building listed as his office online and could not find any record of Coonley law from the folks I talked to. Please choose another firm at all costs. UPDATE: after asking for a refund, John finally had the time of day to speak with me. He agreed to give me a refund for some LLC filing fees I had paid him. (He never got the filing completed). I have since been trying to follow up and actually receive said refund for over 3 weeks now, but still have had no luck. This man is an absolute scumbag and a joke of an attorney. How he is able to practice law is a crime itself. I leave this review in hopes that nobody else ever has to deal with a crook like John like I did.

Okay folks. After being audited by the Texas Comptroller and them creating a tax bill of $175,000, I hired Curtis Osterlo to defend me. Long story short, I recorded all of the conversations between Mr. Osterlo and myself. In the beginning, he mentioned the names of people at the Comptroller NOT to talk to. Two months later, while racking up legal fees, he suggested he would circle back around and speak to Jane Doe (one of the people NOT to talk to). That is when I fired him. In my opinion, this law firm is in bed with the Comptroller to generate legal fees. After firing Curtis, I handled my case myself. The comptroller didn't know what to do now? Their boy wonder was out. I proved to the Comptroller I didn't owe the money by emailing a copy of the Federal and State laws. I ended up winning without Curtis. He wanted me to settle and charge me $35,000 for his time. I will never do business in the state of Texas again!

A neighbor of mine here in Far West Texas attempted to steal 2/3rds of my one acre parcel of land with what was proven to be a fraudulent claim of adverse possession.
The neighbor is a retired county judge and his brother is also a lawyer; he had free legal services at his disposal.
My neighbor is a long standing member of the good old boy network down here in Far West Texas; his track predatory track record not withstanding.

I retained possession of my property.

After 3 years of being classified disabled and not given work clearance by a group of 5 doctors, and having gone through all my savings paying bills, mortgage, insurance, taxes yet continually denied for Social Security Disability, and no money for a lawyer, my medical staff signed me up for legal assistance. A couple of days after, Jodi called me. Explained she’s ‘criminal defense’ but she wanted to help. We met at least weekly for about 2 months. From my memory, stories etc, she tracked down doctors, police officers, etc etc. she demanded that the Social Security Court hear my case. We got a court date 5 weeks ahead. We appeared before the judge with well over 3000 pages of evidence. She told the judge she was not a specialist in medical law but defense. After a hearing that lasted about 3 hours, she and I both thanked the Judge for his time, at which time he congratulated Jodi on a spectacular presentation and research in a ‘strange’ field. He adjourned advised we’d both be alerted after he reviews the evidence and makes a decision. About 2 weeks, we both received a judgement. She won for me! Got maximum allowed AND total reimbursement for back pay dating back over 3 years! Jodi, in my case, was prepared, had a stellar plan and saved. me from life on the street! I owe her my Everything! To be fair and honest, I would not recommend this lawyer to a friend, but to maybe somebody with a very small case. She was a waste of my time, ( I stayed in Houston, TX at the time), money, and effort. I traveled to her office from Houston, with faith, thinking that she had it all for this case. She talked about how she was going to do it all, plan, write memo's. The thing that I remember mostly is that she kept emailing me to "hang in there". Hang in where!! Are you working on and are going to take on this case or aren't you?! Don't waste my darn time! If she did not think that she could take on heavy case, such as a writ of habeas corpus (our case) then don't get us excited in the beginning having we think that you are going to be dedicated, don't take our money as a d*mn retainer, and don't keep sending emails stating that you are working on it and how I'm hanging in there! I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT! She took "her fees" out of the retainer that we paid her and told us that she had other cases and was too busy. WHAT!? She basically took on other cases and left ours, an innocent family, after having been fighting the stupid state of Texas for 28 years, and resigned. Was it money the reason?? Was it lack of knowledge for a writ of habeas? Or was it really fear? Was this case too heavy for you? She should have stated this crap way in the darn beginning! She then refunded my $$ to my parents when it was I who paid her from my bank card. Which kind of a lawyer is this and what kind of business is she running? She could have gotten sued for that alone! Do not waste my time, Lady!

I highly recommend you use any other attorney than this one! I hired him to do a contract. He advised that “his” contract offers the most protection. Dead wrong! His contract put me in a vulnerable situation where I will be sued due to lack of knowledge in law. I am still waiting for my file from this attorney. Three weeks ago I sent a certified letter asking for it as well as emails, phone calls. Nothing. I have no idea what has been done on this case

I hired this attorney to draw up a contract to offer protection. He did the opposite and drew up a contract that violated Texas Code. After the other party threatened to sue us when this attorney only offered free legal services. What good is that when the services I paid for are proven to be poor. I experienced awful communication with this attorney to the point that his father finally stepped in.

This attorney was difficult to work with because he never returned calls or emails. He was hired to draw up a real estate contract which he emailed me confirming he could do. After the fact is when I found out that his “area of expertise” is not even in real estate. Probably why the contract I paid for that he drew up violates Texas Code and now we have been sent a demand letter from the other party. I would not recommend this attorney if the firm he works for.
