To Whomever is reading this. I been dealing with Brandon for many years! They never switched up on me just because I been with them for a long time. They fight just as hard to win your case. The thoroughness and preparation with which Melissa approached my case was exemplary! That, along with the innovative strategies she incorporated, reduced the time frame of the divorce from a year to seven months. It was moving towards a trial which would have added another four to five months. In the courtroom, Melissa was sharp as a razor's edge. Respectful and amicable with the other side until they began personal attacks and bullying in and out of court. Melissa was not having ANY of that nonsense and the gloves came off both in and out of court! She was prepared for the other side to try that tactic and fought back with facts they weren't prepared to address. Ultimately, she did not allow my character to get decimated due to false accusations. She also read me as far as how much and which kind of information I could could take at any given time, she did not inundate me but rather waited until she knew I was ready to hear it. I could go on all day and write many more paragraphs. Simply put... the opposing attorney and ex-wife were on a mission to destroy my character and break me financially which is NO exaggeration. I know if I did not have a lawyer the caliber of Melissa, not only would these proceedings still be going on, the other side probably would've achieved their goal. You will not go wrong or regret retaining Melissa as your lawyer, it would be the smartest thing you could do!

I recently found myself in the middle of a "gray" divorce. 70 years old, married for 13 years to a woman that turned on me. I decided to represent myself in court, defending my pension, Social Security, health care, non marital assets, bank accounts and such. It didn't take long for me to realize I needed a professional consultation as her attorney's proposal was outrageous and would ruin me financially for the rest of my life.
Karen's name was highly recommended by a close friend. A quick email to her office and I scheduled a consultation.
I'm a good judge of people and immediately knew she was the person I wanted representing me. No nonsense or small talk. Straight to the point. Professional and knows the law. I knew she had my back.
Once the dust settled, I was able to keep 90% of what I worked my entire life for. To say I am happy with her service would be an understatement.
Regarding payment, her billing was straightforward and well documented. The entire process cost me much less than I expected.
In short, I would highly recommend consulting with Karen first. You won't regret it.

Attorney Gersten is a top divorce attorney in the area. She did an amazing job and what seemed to be impossible to me a year ago. I went through a very difficult divorce. Before hiring attorney Gersten I interviewed 4 other attorneys and I am glad I chose Karen. She is very efficient and has fair charges and accounting of hours practice. Karen is very knowledgeable and well respected in the court. She always fights to protect interests of her clients, while open to settlement without unnecessary trials if her clients are satisfied with outcome. If presented with challenge, Karen is open to face it without hesitation and do research of precedents to be used in the court. Karen is always confident and has genuine care for her clients. She always comes to the court prepared and ready to protect your interests. Karen is working hard to make sure she provides high quality service. I wish I could give Karen more than 5 starts.

I hired Attorney Gersten to represent me through a divorce from my now ex-husband, and it is the best financial decision I have ever made by a LANDSLIDE. Karen is the absolute pinnacle of professionalism, legal expertise, and client advocacy. Her legal counsel is worth every penny (and then some).
After finding out that my husband was having an affair, I wanted the best representation I could find. I was blind-sided and had no idea what I should expect navigating a divorce. I met with a few other divorce-specializing lawyers locally before finding Attorney Gersten. The consultations I had with other lawyers all seemed to end up in the same place-- a cookie-cutter response, and dismissive approach to the dissolution of my 9-year marriage. Not Attorney Gersten. From the instant I met with her to discuss my situation, I knew I'd found the person to help me get through the toughest season of my life.

What began as a tough decision to find representation at a very difficult time, turned into a huge relief that helped me to protect my family's interests and needs. Catherine and her amazing staff helped me every step of the way, from consultation to the final judgement. Catherine was there, at any time, to answer my questions, address my concerns and explain every step of this process. My children and I were put in a difficult situation and Catherine walked me through it. At various times when I was unsure of what was in the best interests of my family, she explained the possible outcomes in a way that made it understandable and that allowed me to make the right decision. Catherine always told it as it was and explained how the system works and how to help my family achieve what we needed. When I was pushing for certain goals, Catherine facilitated it. Even when I was not able to reach those goals, Catherine was a voice of reason and explained how to care for my family the best way possible given the situation. After 28 months and two lawyers representing me in a complex divorce, Linda, as my third lawyer, finally settled my case in nineteen days. She is nothing but hard working, compassionate, ethical and smart. I had more communication with Linda than either of my past two lawyers combined. Do not. I repeat do NOT settle for a subpar attorney when your reputation rests on another mans shoulders. This lawyer knows how the legal system works from a to z and if you are being falsely accused he will fight for you until the end. He worked tirelessly along with is assistant to get a false charge dismissed and was successful. Do not waste your time looking at reviews that say anything negative about this lawyer. It’s been 5 years since my divorce. I am finally able to write a review. The entire process was horrible and caused PTSD. Eric and his team made my situation the best it could be. He came in to my divorce as a second atty. First atty that I had for 9 months was horrible. Eric wrapped up my complicated case in 3 months - he was incredible! I am not from this arena of power house negotiating or strategy. I am so grateful he was up against my ex and his atty. He fought swiftly, intentionally and successfully. He understood my abilities and my lack of abilities. He fully read the opposing team and their antics/personalities/“wrong doings” to the max degree. He was emotionally there for me…as I felt scared and weak. Being a stay at home mom is a wonderful opportunity I was afforded in life. But a divorce process is extremely intimidating to this inferior position.
When there is a sense of no control or ability to access family money-this feels like drowning.

Attorney Snearly helped me beyond measure. I went to her to get a Divorce and child custody issues. Attorney Snearly listened to my concerns. I explained what was most important to me for a settlement. Attorney Snearly gave me honest and fair feedback. She fought unbelievably hard for my wishes. When my divorce was over I was able to keep my pension, have shared custody of my child with no child support. My ex was not happy with her, but I would recommend Attorney Snearly to anyone!

Megan very quickly grasped the nuanced details of our personal situation and worked with us with both efficiency and empathy to reach an agreement that felt comfortable and reasonable to both parties.
Of note, she also has a good team and works well with them to achieve closure without excessive billing. This was important, and helpful during a process neither of us had experienced before.
Megan also responded to a Sunday night email almost instantly which was not expected, but very much appreciated.

Appoximately one year ago my wife of almost 27 years asked to end our marriage. A few days later we agree to get a divorce. A close business associate gave me a referral to the law firm of Freed/Marcroft in Hartford on Main Street. Our first meeting was in early August 2014 and our divorce proceedings ended just before Christmas of 2014 with the guidance of Lawyers Meghan Freed and Kristen Marcroft.
During a lengthy initial meeting between all parties they suggested we take a collaborative approach to completing our divorce. In this approach the attorneys help/guide the two parties involved to come to agreement on a couple dozen issues that will ultimately make up the divorce agreement that would be acceptable to the courts. They took a great deal of time to understand our years of marriage, and how each person fit into the marriage and how each person viewed the end of the marriage. At every meeting and with every phone call or email they would stress that every decision made would have to be very fair for each party. They constantly sought to educate on each topic, and remind each party of the attorney's role in this type of divorce process.
Kristen and Meghan handled the stickiest problems and contentious points with great expertise and finesse. They showed the utmost compassion and a caring attitude to both parties, which is surely not the case in most proceedings. By having two lawyers helping through the process, you get two distinct skillset and two checkers. That was most useful in overcoming some of the sticky situations that arise in the divorce process.
Kristen and Meghan move us through the entire process on a schedule they set up based upon our wishes and parameters. True to their word and nature they took us through that horrible day in court with compassion and understanding. They were able to interject themselves into the proceedings where many other of their contemporaries might not bother, which made our day easier.
Freed/Marcroft handled all our paperwork and filings under the watchful eye of Robin, the practice manager. Phone calls were returned within a sort of reasonable time, with emails and texts returned much quicker. I'm over fifty and still like voice. Email does seem to be the preferred method of communication. Kristen and Meghan were very upfront about how they get paid, what options for payment were available to us and ultimately what they felt would be the most cost efficient way to proceed.
Let me stress that the collaborative approach to divorce is not for everyone!! Kristen and Meghan will tell you as much right up front. If you want a team to help end a an important part of your life in a dignified way that is fair to all you should highly consider using Kristen Marcroft and Meghan Freed.
