I was entangled in a long and drawn out post-divorce decree matter with my ex-husband for close to two years with a different law firm. I spent thousands of dollars and got nowhere. When it became clear to me that bleeding my retainer dry each month without actually doing any “real” work on my matter was intentional, I began my search for a different attorney. Thankfully, an internet search lead me to Amy McAuley. From the beginning, I could tell Amy was different from my prior attorney in a good way and I decided to hire her to take over my case. She was thorough, communicative when necessary (not to just increase billable hours,) and highly effective as we were able to settle the matter in a couple months. I felt confident in her skills, experience and knowledge especially regarding cases involving a guardian ad litem and reunification therapy. After my dad passed away in April 2024, my mom and I filed for Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) through the VA. Despite working with a VA liaison and following up for 10 months, we received no real updates—just that the claim was still pending. Then, my mom received a notice from the VA, which she mistakenly believed was a denial of the DIC claim. Unfortunately, even the local VA liaison misinterpreted it, causing a lot of confusion. Given that my dad’s passing was clearly linked to his disability, we realized we needed legal representation and turned to James Comerford.
From our first conversation, James took the time to listen, understand our situation, and guide us through the process. Initially, we thought we needed to file a rebuttal, but after investigating, he discovered the VA had actually misinformed us—the claim was still being processed. He assured us he would follow up, and shortly after, he called with the great news: the claim had been approved. Not only did he get us answers, but he also knew exactly when my mom would receive her benefits, including back pay.
When I asked James what we owed him, he refused payment—he was simply happy my mom received what she deserved. Even after I insisted, he suggested we make a donation to a charity instead, which we did. His generosity, professionalism, and genuine care for his clients truly set him apart.

I came to Michael and Deanna to help me with an adoption case and they pulled through with what was promised from the beginning. His extreme wealth of knowledge was very valuable and he was a trusted advisor throughout the process. There were some twists and turns throughout the journey, and John Fay navigated through the changes in a calm matter while always pushing things forward. My case seemed like it should be very simple, but it turned out to be unique and at times complicated. John always responded in a timely fashion. Our working relationship with Mr. Seigler spanned over 4 years. It was not associated with criminal defense, but with civil problems regarding an easement. Mr. Seigler was contacted & hired after another local lawyer was paid to get resolution to the problem, but failed to take timely action. This attorney was knowledgeable and, most importantly, transparent. He didn’t frivolously charge me for every single, tiny interaction (although he isn’t cheap either)... but my ex-husband’s attorney didn’t! You get what you pay for. He was also honest with me about his knowledge in regards to opposing counsel for my divorce. He allowed me to be involved in editing documents as I felt comfortable, carefully reviewing them after the fact to ensure that they were realistic and enforceable. He was quick on his feet in helping me get out of a very tough spot, especially upon initial consultation. In fact, he had an emergency document drawn up for me within an hour! I walked away from my divorce with my sanity and proper child-support/parenting time of my child without having to go to court (all settled between the two attorneys). He comes across as fair, realistic, and level-headed.

We hired Daci Jett to create living trusts for us. She did an excellent job, walking us through the process, helping us think through the many different issues. Ms Jett was personable, had a good sense of humor and was easy to work with. Meetings were held on-time and kept to time. Her follow through was great and she kept us well-informed of the process - we worked mostly through email. When we had tasks to accomplish, she communicated very clearly exactly what we needed to do. She gave us very complete documentation at the end. We felt that she always kept our interests primary in all decisions.
We did not go through an extensive selection process to choose an estate attorney. Based on a referral, we met for an initial meeting, felt very comfortable and proceeded to hire her.
Overall, I would highly recommend her and her services.

I wanted to locate an attorney to work for me regarding a divorce. Interviewed several people initially. Susan spent time up front to explain the entire process in detail for me. The others did not really want to do this! I had no experience with this situation or any resources to utilize during this event. Once hired she stuck to my desired goal of getting the divorce completed quickly and efficiently. Things were moved along even as the opposition wanted to keep extending the time. Start to finish, the divorce was completed in eight months. I was quite pleased with her attention and efficiency regarding my specific situation.

I highly recommend Susan as an attorney. She represented me in my divorce and I was pleased with the agreement we reached with my ex. She was prompt with returning phone calls and emails. She was prepared and knowledgeable. Susan is very friendly but tough when she needs to be. She knows everybody at the courthouse from the clerks and security guards to judges. It was good to work with somebody so connected. Divorce is ugly, but Susan made it less so.

I picked Susan because she represented my friend's ex-wife and he said she was much better than the lawyer he had. She was very thorough, friendly, but was tough as well. I think in a divorce no one is going to get all of what they want, but the most important thing to me was joint custody of my kids and some holidays, none of which their mother wanted me to have. She also kept my ex from moving out of state with my kids and making it financially impossible for me to see them. I have recomended her to other friends.

Sandy may handle a lot of cases as other lawyers do, but unlike those other lawyers, she will actually pay attention to and remember the details of your case. She is also really good at math and with financials. If a family lawyer isn’t good at those things, it can dramatically increase the costs of a divorce in a way that can affect you for years.

Why another review and why is this my only trusted family law firm? Lidia is up-to-date with technology which makes payment and communication seamless. I got a summons to show up to court to get the child support raised as my daughter lived with her mother, BUT in an insane turn of events, thanks to Alex not only did I end up with FULL CUSTODY OF MY DAUGHTER, the mother paid for a great deal of the fees.
Yes, you read right, with my hand raised to the lord, if it wasn’t for Alex, I’d be watering dollar bills in the ground right now.

Unlike many lawyers we found him to be very approachable, down to earth, reasonable, and up front about things. In addition to reasonably and affordably priced. He is genuinely friendly and a great guy, we always have a good laugh and enjoy our meetings. We call him anytime we need any "legal" matters taken care of and he always comes through. My daughter starts at Southern Oaks tomorrow in Ky, my hometown, thanks to Andrew Rankin. I'm so nervous and excited for this change. I'm even more excited for her. More than anything, the fact that she is so happy about moving, let's me know this is exactly where we are supposed to be. Going through this divorce has been the most heart wrenching experience not just on me, but for my girls.
