It’s difficult to fully express my gratitude for Mindy and words could never encompass this achievement. My motion was exceptionally challenging—a monumental undertaking with the odds heavily stacked against me. It was highly unlikely that the court would grant my motion, as it’s rare for a final order to be overturned. I had spent months consulting with numerous law firms, but no one was willing to take me on as a client. Despite knowing I had a strong argument with facts to back it up, I struggled to find help.
From the moment I had my first consultation with Mindy, I knew she was the one who could help me. Mindy is incredible. I'm writing this with my healthy baby sleeping peacefully beside me--an outcome I didn't think possible for much of the past year.
I initially hired Mindy Carr to help write a co-parenting plan. I knew my former partner could be difficult to work with, but I had no idea what was in store. Mindy noticed red flags in my co-parent's behavior from the start and helped me prepare for the high-conflict separation that was coming. She predicted how the process would likely unfold given her prior experience, and she was spot on. It wasn't how I hoped things would go, but I was incredibly grateful to be working with an attorney who had seen similar behavior before and knew how to constructively handle it. So, when my co-parent suddenly changed lawyers and filed a surprise motion for near-exclusive custody of our baby, Mindy was able to quickly assemble an effective response. Her arguments at the hearing convinced the commissioner to adopt a balanced temporary parenting plan instead, and gave me and my co-parent more time to continue discussing a parenting plan via counseling.
It took almost a year before our parenting plan was finalized in arbitration. Mindy let me know what was going on and what to expect the entire time--her transparency really helped reduce my anxiety during such an uncertain period. I was particularly impressed with her knowledge of the family court system and the people in it; she clearly has lots of first-hand experience here and it showed in her approach. She was a tireless and trustworthy advocate who kept my child's interests at heart.
I believe we ended up with a fair parenting plan that puts our child first and provides time and space for each co-parent to build a healthy relationship with them. It's exactly the outcome I'd hoped we could reach collaboratively when I first hired Mindy; the fact that she was able to make this happen despite the machinations of a very high-conflict co-parent speaks to Mindy's resourcefulness, intelligence, and tenacity.

Early in the process of getting divorced, I tried to represent myself, and I ultimately turned to Mindy via a friend's recommendation. Just from a purely financial standpoint, hiring Mindy was among the best decisions I've ever made. The agreement I negotiated for myself was approximately 7x Mindy's total fees less than what I ultimately signed with her help.
Beyond that, though, I've gotten the sense throughout the process that Mindy really and truly wants to help. I felt supported and seen; I know this sounds corny, but it's true.
Mindy's experience and attention to detail helped me avoid a bunch of potentially problematic language in the parenting agreement we ultimately signed, and her advice on strategy and tactics was always well reasoned. She could also consistently explain why she wanted certain provisions added or removed in plain English, translating the legal rule into the likely real world ramifications for me.
Family law being as sensitive as it is, I dearly hope that I never get to work with Mindy again. But if I ever do wind up needing another family lawyer, Mindy will be my first call, and I'll be deeply disappointed if she does not answer.

I went through a HORRIFIC 2+ year long high-conflict divorce from a narcissistic man who verbally and physically abused me in front of our young child. Yasmeen was my 3rd lawyer and I am thankful to God every day that I finally found her. I could tell right away that she is a person of the highest integrity and retains expert knowledge of the legal process. Beyond those stunning traits, emotionally, she was my rock as she guided me through the incredibly traumatic process of extricating myself from my toxic marriage and fighting for custody of my child. My ex and his low-vibrating energy monster of a lawyer did everything in their power to break me: Manipulation, lying, defamation, disregarding court orders, twisting the truth, and hiring "expert" witnesses to try to discredit and demonize me. Yasmeen remained optimistic and unshaken, having full confidence every time I spoke to her that we would win. She encouraged me not to give up, even though I wanted to so badly so many times as this process nearly broke me as a person. But, in the end, Yasmeen came through for me and my child, and we won at trial in a big way. I can't say that I'll ever feel fully vindicated after what my ex put me through, but at least my child has me as the primary parent with full decision making, safe and supported, which makes the whole thing worth it.

Yasmeen, Erin, Sara, Nadine and Robin are amazing. I’ve got the best result possible in my Hague convention case & custody! I’m very happy to have my child back to USA, the process was smooth throughout the whole case using Abdullah’s law firm, they were always on top of everything, very communicative, always there for any question/concern & very transparent. During the court sessions Yasmeen was very confident, accurate & ready for all the judge questions. Yasmeen is very knowledgeable & familiar in the family laws, Hague & civil rights areas. As far as the cost is very decent & reasonable. I procrastinated on getting a will for years. A friend recommended Jamie Clausen and I finally called. Working with Jamie made that task I had avoided and dreaded for so long vastly easier than I had imagined. Jamie reviewed our situation, answered our questions, and made suggestions for how to title our accounts given what we wished to do for our estate. The part I had struggled with for so long was made very clear by the helpful worksheets Jamie provided. It was a huge relief to get our wills done. I've since recommended Jamie to friends, including one with a fairly complex estate situation who was equally happy with Jamie's work for her. Jamie Clausen is a gem!

My case was a motor vehicle accident that took place more than one year ago. There are lawyers who try win for you by cheating and lying. If they dont succeed then it will be the client who looks bad in the end. Marguerite Smith is one who will represent the best in you by doing things the right way and winning with ethics. I didn't exactly win, but had I not had Marguerite as my attorney then I might have lost greatly. Marguerite is the best lawyer you can get. We had a very difficult and complex case together, no one else could have won. She was always spot on, and her advice and strategy has been excellent. She is also well connected with her network of top colleagues she can draw from. I only can highly recommend her, don't go anywhere else if you want to win the best for your child. Her billing is clearly structured, reasonable and just. Apart from being an outstanding expert in family law she is also a wonderful, highly intelligent down to earth person, who will understand your needs and fight for your best interests. She does a ton of work before the mediation so that she knows your case and is ready to get to work. She is also exceptionally gifted at determining what is really motivating the parties - what they need to resolve in order to settle the case. She figures that out and helps guide the lawyers in a way that will achieve a settlement. However, she also has a keen insight as to whether a case will or won't settle. Christina is an extraordinary family law attorney who handled my highly contentious and very complex divorce. Joanna helped me finalize a mediated divorce. My ex and I worked through the majority of the issues (over a year) with a wonderful mediator who provided me with Joanna's contact information at the end of the process. Lori’s a little more expensive than some divorce attorneys ($375/hr), but well worth it. I’ve often found that lawyers who cost more per hour, end up costing a lot less in the end. She’s one of those.
Over the course of several contested divorces and custody battles, I’ve used 5 different divorce attorneys and Lori’s by far the most effective at getting what's fair and moving you past what's likely to be the most difficult period of your life.
I was referred to Lori by high-powered women in the Seattle investment community. They represent many high-net-worth individuals and were concerned about me. They had watched too many of their customers, both male (like me) and female, get decimated as the result of poor legal representation.
I like Lori for many reasons, especially because she’s one of the creators of a small new movement in family law call “collaborative divorce”. The purpose of this practice is to do the deal ... get the divorce over with ASAP … for the sake of the children (especially) as well as the adults. Lori doesn’t believe in profiting by empowering her client to believe he/she is in the right when they’re not. That does nothing but extend the painful, destructive divorce process interminably ... at the expense of the client's emotions and cash.
Knowing her reputation as a powerful peacemaker, I invited Lori to criticize any demand I felt like making that was unreasonable in her eyes. She did so in a compassionate way. She headed off behavior on my part that wasn’t conducive to settlement by explaining _why_ certain details of my approach wouldn’t work best.
She sometimes based her opinions on experience and sometimes on a description of how I would be perceived if I didn’t change myself for the better — i.e. it's usually not a good idea to place fault in a divorce -- you chose him/her afterall, and both parties are hurting no matter how it appears. In my mind, I learned that the only fault in the process is when a client hangs on to anger, blame and revengeful thinking — thinking that many other divorce attorneys simply encourage.
And yet, Lori also fights like hell for you in a compelling and effective way, at just the right moments and by picking the most important points to get out of the way first. She’ll do what it takes even if she has to get down into the trenches to become your warrior.
