Ms. Natoli provided helpful tips on finding self- help information. Your question about of whether I would hire this lawyer should be optional because I am just commenting on the information provided online. I should think more would be included in determining whether to hire an attorney or not. Is Shyster a bad word? Shyster is a bad word; I Googled it. The other day I came across a white fellow who said his only friend was a gun and that he needed more friends (ie., more guns). Perhaps he thinks most humans are full of fecal matter and only out for themselves. I guess some people truthfully conclude that in the end no one will be able to trust anyone. Just aim and shoot whatever moves and whatever you think might move; bloodlines or no bloodlines. Even the white guys have become suspicious of their own Jew and white race. Well, whites never trusted Jews but I think they trusted Jews slightly more than they trusted Negropeans. What is this world coming to?

This review is strictly to point out how this law firm handles employees. LCW is fully aware that as of March 2020 that there is a pandemic going around in the world and yet they find it completely okay with having employees who are heath compromised come into work in the Los Angeles office, although the CDC and WHO have warned against it. All other LCW offices have closed during this time but the LA office finds money to be more important that the health and safety of ALL it’s employees so only a select few are REQUIRED to come into the office, while others (including a majority of the attorneys) get to work from home. This is bad employer practice and shows just how inhuman this firm is. Further more, most schools, courts and departments that LCW works with are closed as well so what work is so important that you as an employer are willing to risk people’s health for it instead of just postponing the deadline like the rest of the world is having to do? If this is how they treat employees, I can only imagine how they treat clients.

There was a time when we lost hope because 3 lawyers before him gave up and didn't want to proceed with my daughter's case but thank god he put attorney Mr.McMahan in our path. He fought for our case until the end. He did a great recovery for my daughter, Never gave up. My family and I can't thank him enough for all the help he provided since the beggining until the end. There are no words to describe how greatful I am to him. Our gratitude always.

Carl worked tirelessly, for years, on our family's case. During our case we had ups and downs, but Carl never gave up or became discouraged. He truly cared about the outcome and our family. We will always be grateful to Carl and his team for helping achieve a secure future for our child.

I filed a claim and signed a retainer in May of 2014 with the statutory limit running out on this medical case in April of 2015. I kept on updating the attorney (Carl) as much as I had received information--several citations from the Department of Health, etc., against all institutions that committed violations in the questioned medical case, that ended in the death of my mother. The law firm received no update since September of 2014 since no additional work was completed by any of the State investigators (perhaps on purpose so I would run out of statutory time!) but I was was made to believe by the law firm all along that the case was going to be filed in January, 2015. In fact I was told this in December of 2014 by the person of contact. I have called the firm in January 3 times plus sent 3 emails and on the 4th of February, with only 2 months left for my statutory limit before running out, they had a completely incompetent law student of sort call me to tell me that they dropped the case. This law student knew nothing about the case; confused all the hospitals, kept on saying Department of Pharmacology rather than Department of Pharmacy (a lawyer who cannot keep THAT much in memory for 3 minutes?) and he acted rude. His last sentence was equivalent to what a 5-year old would say "I was gonna recommend something else to you but now I won't"... This is an attorney? This is a legitimate legal company? I seriously doubt they can win any case with the attitude they have and how they handle their clients. Carl sent me one-sentence letters without "hello", without name, without signature. So unprofessional! It seemed I was an administrative assistant rather than his client. Do not waste your time with a law firm like that. Find someone who represents your style and intellect. This law firm is not for intellectuals.

Muammar is alright, but isn’t the best personal injury attorney out there. Do your research and look around. He’s a somewhat new lawyer and slowly gaining experience. I retained him a few years ago, being a victim in a personal injury case, the evidence was clear for liability towards the opposing party, and there was a abundant paper trail of clear damages. He said before trial “this is a home run”, meaning it’s an easy win. Sadly, he couldn’t deliver results and wasn’t successful on the case and lost. All he said, “Wow that judge wasn’t good” Instead of taking responsibility, he deflected to the judge to blame and then never contacted me again. My case was a mere experiment to him and I was his guinea pig. I was left with medical bills, no financial gain, and no remorse or care towards the client. There are better lawyers out there; he’s not yet matured nor experienced. Maybe others have had better luck with him.

I think that Maumma Reed is an excellent attorney. However he kept $500.00 dollars to cover any other medical costs however I don’t owe anyone and I would like to get my money that is owed to me. I call to no avail as NO one will return my calls and then I was told that it would take 10 days before I would hear anything and it has been over a month. Now the lady that I was speaking to no longer works for the firm. Her name is Aquila. Please Mr Reed get back at me. Thank you very much .

I had an incident a couple years ago where I need an attorney for a petty crime. Now I know Ivie, McNeill, and Wyatt is a large firm and they deal with a lot of cases, but I thought that my matter would be respected just the same. Long story short, I was about to graduate from college and the situation came back when I was trying to apply for a government job and needed a security clearance. I reached out to Atty. Purcell everyday for a two weeks and there was no response. My mom had to run around the whole city for those two weeks to get the information that he would have access to within an hour. I was supposed to receive my security clearance in April; now it's July and I have the information that I need, but I'm still waiting on my security clearance in order to move forward.

Mr. Kapland is currently my attorney in my injury and illness that I receive in 2001 with the company I worked for over 23 years and recently had to leave the company after 13 failed surgeries due to what we know now a severe metal allergy that has caused me to become very ill and without an elbow. The claim was uncontested by my employer and insurance company. Mr. Kaplands mishandling and greed for my claim is the only reason it went to court. Throughout the years the insurance company changed hands but the last company it was turned over to CAIGA. I was made 100% disable and unable to work in 2014vbut made permanent and stationary in 2007 but continued to work under severe stress and very ill. I was just informed that I won and received an award, future medical with a life pension in 2016. Mr. Kapland has refused to communicate with me except to send me harassing emogyi's laughing at me. I never received a structured settled and for the past year I am being refused medical care locally and being forced to travel from Arizona to Los Angeles Can for court hearings and doctor appointments. I receive no reimbursements for traveling and when I appear in WCAB twice in the past 3 months no attorney speaks to me and I don't see our judge so I have no idea why I'm even ordered to appear. I then receive from the defense counsel via mail that my attorney had the claim. Put on the calendar to inform defense counsel and the court that he is my attorney and they are not allowed to speak with me when I call and have all communications go through him. I haven't spoken to Mr. Kapland since I dismissed him years ago for mishandling and inappropriate behavior. Mr. Kapland who is claiming to be my attorney is trying to cover up his mishandling. He also uses Dr.Khioury to conduct insurance fraud by charging the insurance company for exams and treatment that were never performed. He has caused me to lose my family home and in jeopardy of losing my current residence and belongings. But will send emogyi's from his identified cell phone and work email on a regular basis to terrorize me. Please be aware of this attorney he is a bad man and an even worse attorney. I can supply you with evidence of all my claims and much more.

What a Medical Malpractice Lawyer Can Do for You

A medical malpractice lawyer specializes in helping individuals who have been harmed due to the negligence or misconduct of healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, or hospitals. These lawyers assist in cases where a healthcare provider deviates from the accepted standard of care, resulting in injury or death. Medical malpractice cases can involve misdiagnosis, surgical errors, medication mistakes, birth injuries, and other forms of medical negligence.

If you or a loved one has suffered harm due to improper medical treatment, a medical malpractice lawyer can help you understand your legal options, file a lawsuit, and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other damages.

When Should I Hire a Medical Malpractice Lawyer?

Hiring a medical malpractice lawyer is essential if you’ve been seriously injured due to the negligence of a healthcare provider or institution. Situations where you should seek legal representation include:

  • Misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis: If a doctor fails to diagnose or delays diagnosing a medical condition, leading to harm or progression of the illness.
  • Surgical errors: Harm resulting from surgical mistakes such as operating on the wrong site, leaving instruments inside the body, or performing unnecessary procedures.
  • Medication errors: Injuries caused by prescribing the wrong medication or dosage, or mistakes made by pharmacists in dispensing drugs.
  • Birth injuries: Injuries to a newborn due to medical negligence during labor and delivery, such as failing to perform a timely C-section or improper use of delivery instruments.
  • Anesthesia errors: Complications arising from improperly administered anesthesia, which can lead to serious injury or death.
  • Inadequate follow-up or aftercare: Suffering due to lack of proper monitoring or care after a medical procedure, leading to complications.
  • Hospital or nursing home negligence: Harm caused by the negligence of hospital staff, nurses, or administrators who failed to provide adequate care.

Medical malpractice cases are complex, and hiring a lawyer early can help ensure your rights are protected and your case is handled effectively.

What Does a Medical Malpractice Lawyer Do?

A medical malpractice lawyer provides various legal services to help injured patients hold negligent healthcare providers accountable. Their responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating your case: Reviewing medical records and consulting with experts to determine if you have a viable claim based on the standard of care and harm suffered.
  • Filing a lawsuit: Initiating legal action by filing a complaint against the responsible parties in the appropriate court.
  • Gathering evidence: Collecting medical records, expert testimonies, and other relevant evidence to build a strong case.
  • Negotiating with insurance companies: Working to secure a fair settlement that compensates you for your injuries without the need for a trial.
  • Litigating in court: Representing you during trial proceedings if a settlement cannot be reached, presenting evidence and arguing your case.
  • Calculating damages: Assessing the full extent of your losses, including medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and future care needs.
  • Handling expert testimony: Coordinating with medical experts who can testify on how the standard of care was breached and how it led to your injuries.

How Are Medical Malpractice Lawyers Paid?

Most medical malpractice lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, which means they only get paid if they recover compensation for you. Key aspects of this payment structure include:

  • Contingency fee percentage: The lawyer's fee is typically between 25% and 40% of the settlement or award.
  • No upfront costs: You do not pay any legal fees unless the lawyer successfully recovers compensation on your behalf.
  • Case expenses: Costs for expert witnesses, medical record retrieval, and court fees may be deducted from your settlement or award in addition to the lawyer's fee.

Always discuss the fee arrangement during your initial consultation to understand your financial obligations.

How Much Does a Medical Malpractice Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a medical malpractice lawyer is usually based on a contingency fee model. General estimates include:

  • Contingency fee: Lawyers typically charge between 25% and 40% of the total recovery amount.
  • Case expenses: Additional costs such as expert witness fees and court expenses can range from $5,000 to $50,000 or more, depending on the case complexity.

Ensure you receive a clear explanation of all potential fees and expenses before proceeding with your case.

Top Questions to Ask a Medical Malpractice Lawyer

Before hiring a medical malpractice lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with medical malpractice cases like mine?
Confirm the lawyer has a successful track record with similar cases.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Understand the contingency fee percentage and any additional costs you may incur.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Seek an honest assessment of your case's strengths and potential challenges.
  4. How long will the process take?
Get an estimate of the timeline for settling or taking the case to trial.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
Ensure you know who will be managing your case and their level of involvement.
  6. Have you worked with expert witnesses?
Verify the lawyer's experience in collaborating with medical experts essential for your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Medical Malpractice Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association for their license and any disciplinary actions.
  • Review their experience: Look for specialization in medical malpractice and a history of successful cases.
  • Read client reviews: Consult platforms like Avvo or Martindale-Hubbell for testimonials and ratings.
  • Ask for references: Request contact information of previous clients willing to discuss their experience.
  • Check professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Association for Justice (AAJ) indicates a commitment to the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Medical records: All documents related to your treatment and injury.
  • Evidence of harm: Photos, medical bills, and records of lost wages.
  • Communication records: Any correspondence with healthcare providers or institutions.
  • List of healthcare providers: Names and contact information of all involved medical personnel.
  • Questions for the lawyer: A prepared list to address all your concerns.
  • Timeline of events: A detailed chronology of your medical care and the issues encountered.

Being well-prepared helps the lawyer assess your case accurately and advise you on the best course of action.
