Dean Gaunt is doing a great job keeping students engaged and mingling with each other. Law school demands a lot of non-social mental work--reading, research, writing--and these events keep the classes interacting so that we get make connections and de-stress.
Our professors keep up with Dean Gaunt in their excellence. They are experienced teachers and know how to handle first year classes (extra kudos to Gajda, torts, and Gordley, contracts). So glad to have picked Tulane.
Regarding peers; there is a reputation among all law school applicants that their classmates are out to push them down the curve. I have yet to meet anyone who has been unwilling to answer a question or offer academic insight.

When I called Mr Bruno’s office, they put me directly though to him. After discussing the severity of my accident, he was able to set up a doctor’s appointment for me the same day. Stephen Bruno kept me informed of what was happening with the insurance company and assured me that I wouldn’t have to pay for anything. He covered all doctor visits, MRI’s and therapy. He put my mind at ease, so I could worked on recovering. I have and will continue to referred him to family and friends.

After a horrible car accident I was referred to Stephen by a friend. I was given advice and felt taken care of. I hired Sharon Williams to help me with a name change. I told her I wanted to use an attorney with experience in this sort of thing so I wouldn't have to worry about it and would get it done fast as I need to have my preferred name match for my job. She told me not to worry, that she would take care of it quickly. I initially met with her in late July, and I signed my petition in early August. it is now January and the process is not done. She has been very unresponsive, as I've texted her multiple times asking for specifics on why this is taking so long. I now haven't heard from her in a week. I've called her office multiple times with no answer and left messages. Called her phone but the voicemail box is full. The lack of communication leaves me to not trust that she is able to do the job I paid her to do in a timely manner, and feel like I've wasted my time and money for something I would have been better off doing myself. Ive spoken with people who have changed their names on their own with no attorney and most did it within a month. I am at 5 months. My passport has expired and my license expires soon which will be a major complication where I have to renew it under my old name, while I was under the impression would have been taken care of by now. I would not trust Sharon Williams with anything as important as custody or a will if she can't even properly do a name change.

I was served last night with my first legal issue (civil) - this was completely unexpected and terrifying. Once I read the document, I did research by reading reviews on civil attorneys into the late night. Filled out 3 consultation forms on 3 different law firm websites.
The Khan Law Firm, LLC was my first choice. Why? I picked them because the first thing you see on their website is women - beautiful colored women , both with impressive backgrounds. The reviews on them were great. I had it in my head they would definitely lead me in the right direction even if they did not take my case.
Today, I called Khan Law Firm and spoke with Ms. Shalahn. She was not personable or kind. I asked if there was any availability for a free consultation or if there was a fee. I didn’t even get a chance to explain my situation. She advised me that they were booked and to call the bar association and that I needed to do research. The bar association is or could be in Baton Rouge per Shalahn. I thanked her and carried on.
Not sure whether they were actually booked or maybe she just didn’t want to be bothered by me.
I’m terrified by a legal issue in the first place. Don’t call this place for seeking for first time assistance. It’ll only make you feel worse.
Anyways, I found a great, HELPFUL attorney towards the end of the day. Maybe that’s rare with free consultations.

She told me not to worry, that she would take care of it quickly. I initially met with her in late July, and I signed my petition in early August. it is now January and the process is not done. She has been very unresponsive, as I've texted her multiple times asking for specifics on why this is taking so long. I now haven't heard from her in a week. I've called her office multiple times with no answer and left messages. Called her phone but the voicemail box is full. The lack of communication leaves me to not trust that she is able to do the job I paid her to do in a timely manner, and feel like I've wasted my time and money for something I would have been better off doing myself. Ive spoken with people who have changed their names on their own with no attorney and most did it within a month. I am at 5 months. My passport has expired and my license expires soon which will be a major complication where I have to renew it under my old name, while I was under the impression would have been taken care of by now. I would not trust Sharon Williams with anything as important as custody or a will if she can't even properly do a name change.
